Some of you have noticed a tweet by the state department that says the results day has been postponed from May 5 to June 6.
The announcement hasn’t been made officially yet but given the source is the official Twitter account, it is likely to be confirmed in the coming days.
The announcement has now been officially released here – so June 6 is the results day for sure.
I’m not sure why they are doing this – although it is obviously related to the COVID pandemic. Whilst it may not be their primary reason, this will give the KCC teams a bit more time to handle completing the DV2020 process, so it should help DV2020 a little.
They say it should not negatively affect DV2021 applicants but it will probably mean a slightly slower start to interviews for DV2021 because they will have lost some time when they would normally have been receiving DS260s and so on. Remember, DV2021 interviews will be scheduled from mid August, based on low number cases that have completed their DS260 AND submitted documents. So there will not be much time between June 6 and the end of July for that to happen. However, they can probably make that time up later.

They have changed the answer now. They are saying we dont have update yet. Take a look on tweets made about a hour ago

May 2, 2020 at 06:09
Hi there,
I got married 3 years ago to my Canadian partner but have separated on very bad terms one week after getting married. I have no clue what his current address is, except that he lives in Montreal, Canada and I live in Australia, nor do I know any of his friends or family members. ( We didn’t get married in Australia or Canada but in a different country!) The DV2022 application requires name, address and the partner’s picture if one is married. My ex is no longer living at the same address as before and I have no picture that fits the size requirements etc.
Question:
If I mention that im married or separated, I need to give details and provide his picture and therefore I won’t be able to complete the application as I don’t have these details. f I mention that Im single, i will be able to complete the application but obviously the answer to the question would not be truthful! What should I do please? I tried several times over the past 12 months to contact him and I even travelled to Montreal last year to no avail. I am now trying to annul the marriage but an annulment would takes at least two years to be granted if not more, especially that I will be seeking the annulment in Australia rather than the country where we got married! Any solution?
May 2, 2020 at 17:36
The real solution is that you don’t enter the lottery.
A second solution that some have done (but I am not condoning) would be to submit whatever passport photo of him you have – because you are never going to have him show up at interview.
You MUST answer the questions truthfully.
April 18, 2020 at 08:34
That’s not true. The post was a response to a question about postponed dv2020 interviews.
Please read carefully.
April 18, 2020 at 16:07
I read very carefully and it is definitely in response to asking about 2021 results ..
“Did you postponed DV2021 result?”
“We do not have any updates at this time as the situation is still developing. Please continue to monitor http://travel.state.gov/visas for the latest information. Thank you for your patience.”
April 18, 2020 at 20:20
AS I mentioned, the previous comment was NOT an official announcement, but likely to be confirmed in the coming days.
April 18, 2020 at 02:16
It is curious they still have 5th May as date on the dvlottery.state.gov webportal.
April 18, 2020 at 02:34
I saw the post about June 6th too
“We do not have any updates at this time as the situation is still developing. Please continue to monitor travel.state.gov/visas for the latest information. Thank you for your patience.“ Currently what the twitter account is saying.
April 18, 2020 at 03:34
Yep. They are confused….
April 18, 2020 at 12:35
It was actually after someone asked about the DV2020 , if they will end by September 30 or extend it , that they started saying they do not have updates about the situation .
Things are confusing for everyone at this time . But most importantly we pray for the safety of everyone everywhere
April 18, 2020 at 04:36
So when is the list of those who went through coming out.

Hey Simon, hope you’re doing well. When you say “DV2021 interviews will be scheduled from mid August, …” will this take away any capacities from processing DV2020 cases? And do you happen to know if the consulate staff currently working in home office is working on or in some way preparing DV2020 cases (except the interviews of course) to save time once they reopen? Having a high case number (EU42XXX) I’m losing a bit of sleep about the September deadline… Thanks and stay safe, Philip
April 19, 2020 at 00:11
September interviews (DV2020) are scheduled by mid July. After that, 95% of the work at KCC is DV2021 focused (the 5% being assigning visas for DV2020 cases as embassies clear AP). The delays we have seen will obviously have an impact, though exactly what that will mean in terms of cutoff is impossible to know. All you can do is wait and see.
April 19, 2020 at 08:38
Hi Bri how are you doing. I wish to ask how can I add my new born baby to my visa interview appointment .?? The baby was born on the 7april. I was already scheduled for the interview on the 7april but I could not attend the interview due to the corona virus crises .thank you in advance.
April 19, 2020 at 12:16
Did you check the FAQ?
April 19, 2020 at 12:30
Yes sir I did, but I don’t understand the scenario
April 19, 2020 at 14:29
I really can’t imagine how you are going to cope with moving to a new country. The simplest of things defeat you. You have GOT TO become more resourceful!
Scenario 2: If the birth is after you have been scheduled but before the interview.
In this scenario, you cannot unlock the DS260s so you need to contact the embassy and inform them that you will be bringing the child to the interview. So – as soon as possible after the birth do the following.
Obtain the birth certificate and the passport for the child.
Inform the embassy of the birth.
It is a good idea to email KCC about the birth also (but not essential).
The child will need to attend the medical appointment with the rest of the family and should attend the interview also. The interview and medical fee will be payable for the child.
The embassy may ask you to complete a DS260 manually or perhaps another form (DS230). Comply with their instructions. If you cannot obtain the passport or birth certificate in time, talk to the embassy at the interview to see how they can handle that situation.

Hi simon
how many chances do we have with cn 25K??
April 19, 2020 at 12:22
I don’t know.
April 19, 2020 at 16:44
Dear Brit,
What do you think about 2NLs for already current case numbers? Do you suppose that will be issued? (I’m EU27xxx)
April 19, 2020 at 20:54
The only thing to do is wait and see.
April 19, 2020 at 17:59
Hi dear Britsimon I hope you’re doing well!
Do you think that the KCC could cancel the DV2020 or not receive all the winners?
As we know the DV2021 results will soon be available and with this Covid 19 they are late with the DV2020. Do you think they could cancel it and start over with the DV2021?
April 19, 2020 at 20:54
No
April 19, 2020 at 23:19
Hello dear Simon
Thank you for all your advices that helped me to be more patient through DV process.
I got my Visa in March and have to enter to US till the end of August.
Now my question is: if the flights to US couldn’t open till August, will embassy extend my entrance Visa period?
Regards

April 21, 2020 at 02:37
I’m not sure there are many countries where the virus is not a problem. But all I can say is wait and see.
April 20, 2020 at 23:47

April 21, 2020 at 02:22
Hello sir temporary suspend all immigration will effect DV journey or not
April 21, 2020 at 02:49
Unlike your first message, we should wait to see what actually happens…
April 21, 2020 at 02:42
Trump just announced this: “In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!”…….:( are we all screwed?
April 21, 2020 at 04:18
Let’s wait for the EO because jumping to conclusions based on a tweet.
April 21, 2020 at 04:25
Hello brit, President Donald Trump on Monday night twitted he will sign an executive order temporarily suspending immigration into the United States. So does it mean dv2020 also will be on hold?
April 21, 2020 at 04:31
Let’s wait for the EO because jumping to conclusions based on a tweet.
April 21, 2020 at 05:06
Yes lets see. Hopefully it won’t affect anything except your entrance date. I stand corrected but Trump alone cannot cancel the Diversity Lottery without congress’ approval. I’m predicting they will probably still process the remaining DV2020 visas wh
en consulates open but it won’t be able to be activated until they fully open up the borders again
April 21, 2020 at 11:29
That is the most right thing that they can do !
April 21, 2020 at 11:26
Hello Brit !
According to the newest executive order by the President , may the current diversity visa program DV2020 be “Potsponed” or “Cancelled” at all !
Thank you !

Hey BritSimon!
Hope you and your family are safe and healthy during this time. My husband is a DV2020 winner and we received our Green cards early March (both of us were on F1 and did AOS). I was wondering are we allowed to file for unemployment as green card holders? I’ve been reading several forums on this but wanted to ask your opinion as well.
Thank you!
April 22, 2020 at 02:58
I don’t know.
April 24, 2020 at 17:02
Hi Charlie,
I am also an F-1 student and looking for adjustment of status. Do you think it would be possible if I can somehow contact you to ask some questions about the procedure?
Thank you!

Hey sir! Is it true what people say about Dv lotteries that once you applied and haven’t won you should not try again?
Well, I heard these from a friend that once you try it’s not advisable Because the state department will notice that you are anxious and the system will deny you all time !
How true is this please ?
May 4, 2020 at 20:31
It might be time to realize you should find smarter friends.
The whole theory is idiotic. MANY people apply multiple times, that is normal.
April 23, 2020 at 04:54
No doubt, I am familiar with her wording. xD
April 24, 2020 at 10:02

Pls Brits
Once u get a visa does it necessarily means u have to leave to US by the end of the September or it depends on when u want to go
April 27, 2020 at 15:41
The visa has a validity date which is medical date + 6 months. That date can be past September 30th.
April 27, 2020 at 22:36

May 1, 2020 at 00:49
We don’t know the numbers yet.
May 4, 2020 at 04:13
So what do you think will be the chances of the applicants for dv 2021
May 4, 2020 at 18:33
I can’t answer such vague questions.
June 3, 2020 at 02:44
Hi Brit, I play the dv 2020 on November 2019 and I got married on December 2019 and my wife has gave birth .But, I played the dv as single.so, is it possible for me to travel with my wife and child if I win?
June 3, 2020 at 05:14
Yes
May 2, 2020 at 16:46
I wonder if they deleted all the Nigerian entries since Pres.Trump banned Nigeria from travelling to US? They usually get the biggest percentage of winners in Africa. I hope their percentage is given to other African countries….South Africa gets only a few winners each year. I hope there will be more this year and I am one of them!
May 2, 2020 at 18:17
Nigerians are not eligible to participate in the lottery – that was changed some years ago.
May 8, 2020 at 11:29

Hello sir why if, I won but I play alone because my family was not around me when I play, and after I won I decided to add my wife and kids on boad?
May 18, 2020 at 23:10
That is certain to mean disqualification. The instructions were crystal clear about that.
May 19, 2020 at 05:37
So that means i can’t add my family on right?
May 19, 2020 at 14:09
No it means you cannot proceed.
May 23, 2020 at 12:21
Hello Brit please I will like for u to please update me as relate to the result for the dv2021 as for my country liberia how many people were selected from the program.

Hi Sir . greetings of the day. I wish to clerify my doubt on Dv 2021 result. My brother say’s all those who played with passport have advantage and more probility to win dv 2021.my problem is can what my brother said be true? Q2 if yes how possible can it be when the pandemic has shaken US economy and Trump’s ban might be extended.
May 26, 2020 at 16:53
Sorry Probability not probility
May 26, 2020 at 22:34
1. Well the instructions said to give the passport details and that not doing so would result in disqualification. So – if that’s what you mean by advantage – yes.
2. I don’t understand this question.
May 28, 2020 at 20:10
2. Is ok sir I have listened to your video in youtube and it has clerifys my doubt.
May 28, 2020 at 08:20

You can easily handle that. Read the FAQ about absences.
