OK – I have produced several videos to explain what we know so far about the case numbers after the release of the per country numbers. There is a lot of information, and it is too much information to type – so I really encourage you to go and view the videos.
First there is a generic video that covers the whole global number and discusses some important factors that will affect the progress this year. Those factors are:
- The pandemic
- The presidential election
- The immigrant ban and the lawsuit
- Schengen area ban and similar bans
- The travel ban (Muslim ban)
- The Passport rule impact
So – with all those factors you will not be surprised that I don’t give specific number cutoff predictions, and I won’t be doing that. However, I have explained in each region specific video numbers that I consider “no brainer” safe – (meaning please don’t ask me under these case numbers).
Yes the videos are long. This is an important subject. If you can’t be bothered to spend a few minutes listening to me and just ask me a question I answer in the videos, I will simply ignore your question. I find that very disrespectful and lazy.
So – here is the first video that everyone should watch.
Then after that, pick the region video that interests you.

Hello Mr. Britsimon,
Glad to ask you if we can get total number of cases (plus their derivatives) in Kenya and Rwanda.
Thank you for your help.
May 5, 2021 at 22:53
Google the selectee numbers.
February 10, 2021 at 06:27
Heloo Brit,
Hope you’re doing great. My case number is AF53xxxx and i’m from sudan. I would like to know if it’s considered as a high case number and what might be my chances considering the current situation of covid snd nee elect joe biden. Thanks.
February 10, 2021 at 17:35
It’s not really a very high number but there is risk because we have lost so much time and not all the embassies are open.
December 2, 2020 at 07:09
Hi Simon , I’m a DV21 winner, case number AF27xxx.I submitted my ds260 since July but I have not received yet an email requesting supporting documents. II recently watched your latest video(01 December 2020 ) regarding the dv21 and the lawsuit that is going to be filed soon by some lawyers, I would like to know if I can pay so that my name can be quoted in this lawsuit as it was for some dv2020 selectees ?This will speed up my application process in case the lawsuit wins .
October 19, 2020 at 12:05
Hey brit ,my region is uganda, selectees are 908 for 2021 .do u think 78xxx is to high for me according to my region ??
October 19, 2020 at 22:39
Ahhh I see you corrected it. 78000 is a high number.
February 23, 2021 at 11:05
I have 31340 cases before me and 1412 after me in the all african region .what does that mean ?
February 23, 2021 at 14:58
It means you have a lot of people in front of you, and therefore your chance is small.
October 19, 2020 at 12:01
Hey brit, my region is uganda, selectees are 908 ..do you think 78XX is too high for me according to my region ,??
October 19, 2020 at 22:38
If you mean 7800 (not 78000) then that is a low number.
September 17, 2020 at 15:56
Hi Brit,
I saw the video about Asia.
My case number is AS237XX, as I understood you can’t really tell how much risk around that case number.
But If you had that case number, which month would you send the DS-260 form?
Appreciate the work you are doing, Thank you.
Amit
September 17, 2020 at 19:53
You can send it any time, but about March/April at the latest.
September 18, 2020 at 18:45
Hi Brit, thank you for your response.
Should I wait until january? Or is it safe to send now?
September 19, 2020 at 00:41
I answered.
September 21, 2020 at 16:28
Hi Simon, I’m a 2021 dv lottery winner and my cn is AF27xxx,I submitted my ds260 form two months ago but I have not received any feedback from Kcc while people with higher cn are being requested documents. Should I be worried?
September 21, 2020 at 17:04
No. Just be patient.
August 29, 2020 at 02:15
So Simon, what do you think about EU283XX? Would the response rate not be higher than 60% because the people with passports are more serious? I’m asking this in relation to your recent EU case number analysis video.
August 29, 2020 at 03:46
I answered you on YT. The video explains what I think.
August 26, 2020 at 16:01
Hello Brit.
We are patiently waiting on tomorrows update on the courts.
Am from Kenya Case number AF40*** my question is basically i had an offer to study in the US in the coming year January 2021. Does submiting the DS260 form affect the chances of applying for an F1 Visa as it will show that i have intent to break my student status of the Visa.
Thanks and good day
August 26, 2020 at 21:23
Yes the submission of the DS260 could affect your F1 application.
August 27, 2020 at 19:58
Thanks Simon guess ill have to be patient see if it possible to differ my studies and hope to get an interview mid next year because I had already submitted my DS260 before I stumbled on to your website
August 26, 2020 at 12:13
Pretty much obvious what happened with Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Those are consequances of passport requirement. Now much less number of selectees from U2 countries are disqualified. Same for Ghana and some other countries.
August 26, 2020 at 21:18
Agreed.
August 25, 2020 at 16:35
Good day Simon,
1A quick question am DV winner AF70xxx seemingly high case number from your videos but now the country am from only about 20+ people were selected thats including derivatives… now using the 7% rule am i still at risk?
2. Is it possible to cut off and leave other countries with no one being given a chance for interviews?
I hope my questions make sense thanks.
August 25, 2020 at 23:12
Your number is scheduled according to the case number, not how many are selected in your country.
August 25, 2020 at 09:35
Hi Brit,
your videos are so helpful.
I went through your video few times, My Case number is AS24XXX and I have submitted my DV260 one month ago. As you said,I know i’m in the high risk zone. i’m planing to apply for the DV lottery 2022 also
-will submitted DS-260 be a problem for next year lottery?
-Don’t I have a small chance?
-Me and my wife expecting baby now and will that be a problem because, in DS-260 has no any information about that?
August 25, 2020 at 22:45
1. No problem.
2. Wait and see.
3. No problem (please read the FAQ).
August 25, 2020 at 06:14
I just wanted to ask you one question. I am DV 2021 winner together with my wife. I am the principal applicant. and we already completed the DS 260 form (am 29K case #). the thing is, my wife had applied for non migrant visa in March 2020 and she was scheduled for interview on March (the application form ds160 was completed by her sister who is going to be our host in US). she didn’t attend the interview and her case didn’t proceed due to the pandemic and it is totally passed and we all forgot it. The problem is there is significant differences between the ds260 form we filled and the ds 160 form which was filled earlier on some points. first question, should we be worried about this? will it affect our dv process? should we update the ds160 form now? my fear is if they in case crosscheck records, she have record of ds 160 with few different information than what we stated in ds 260, could that be a case or a problem?
August 25, 2020 at 22:36
Well yes they will have access to the form. So if you have lied in either form, there could be difficulties. For goodness sake, don’t lie.
As for what to do to fix it – I don’t have any advice. You will need to decide for yourself.
August 26, 2020 at 05:49
is it not possible to unlock and update the ds160?
August 26, 2020 at 19:43
I don’t know, but changes are tracked.
August 26, 2020 at 02:33
Bro I think it may be good to unlock the ds-260 so that you can fill your wife information by making consistent enough with the previous information what your wife had done on ds-160.
Did I got you?
August 26, 2020 at 02:44
oh man. PLEASE leave the answering to me. What if the 160 is full of lies.
August 26, 2020 at 18:39
Sorry BritSimon
August 24, 2020 at 23:40
Hello Simone, I got selected for DV 2021 with case number 3xxx and I am currently in USA in F1 status. I Processed my application for Adjustment Of Status. I have Ambetter insurance from marketplace. So, my query is that is public charge rule applied on this case? If Yes, can you please guide me how should I proceed?
August 25, 2020 at 04:59
Marketplace insurance policies do not cause a problem.
August 25, 2020 at 22:36
But I am getting around $300 as premium tax credit so, it won’t be a problem right? I got it from Healthcare.gov.
Thank you for your response
August 25, 2020 at 23:50
No problem.
August 24, 2020 at 22:41
Hi Simone! I really appreciate your help and the effort you are putting in to guide us . I have just watched your video regarding public charge. I am a 2021 dv lottery winner and I’ll be moving to us alone (without any family member). I have a friend in us who is a Uber driver, he is married with three children. Do you think he can be my sponsor? my second question is : is it compulsory to live in the same state with my sponsor? in my DS260 my arrival address is in Colorado, can I have a sponsor in Georgia?

August 24, 2020 at 06:52
Hi Simon,
Thank you so much for all the work you’ve done for DV lottery winners/participants.
I was looking at numbers for previous years and I have a question concerning dv2014. What happened that year (2014) for the region, Africa? I mean when I add up all the selectees for the region, I end up with 61,942. But in the final report, the region was not capped and was almost current. Something special or different happened that year for the region, Africa?
In advance thank you so much for your answer and again for all what you do for us ?
August 25, 2020 at 04:38
The drop out rate was higher in those days – especially in AF region.
August 23, 2020 at 22:51
Hello! Thank you for the work and effort you put in here to help us.
You mention in the Europe video that it is okay not to send your DS260 right away, that it is safe to wait if you have a high case number and even fill it in May and still might be processed. Does this also apply if I have a very low case number (EU6K)?
If the answer is yes, what would you say is the limit and will that mean that I will be interviewed first once I submit or how would that work?
August 25, 2020 at 00:13
I do have a FAQ that answers your questions – please read that.
August 23, 2020 at 19:30
Hi, Thanks so much for the video it helped me a lot, let Jehovah continue to bless you with more knowledge on this subject.
We are one of the dv2021 selectee our case is 2021AF30xxxx we submitted our DS260 but my passport issued to play is expired I submitted the DS260 with my old passport number before I was issued new passport, is that a serious problem, please advise.
August 23, 2020 at 21:24
Read the FAQ about that.
August 23, 2020 at 12:44
Thanks Brit for your time. You REALLY are patient to all these people asking the same questions about case numbers AGAIN, when the videos are clear. Peeps, you can just choose your region and watch what is said there. I myself, wanted to ask a question about my CN but when I watched the video about my region (Africa) it made everything clear. I believe it wil be the same for you.
Also, whether we have a low or high case number, let’s try to enjoy where we are now. It might not be easy (even for me, it’s not, but I try) BUT with everything happening in the world right now (the pandemic), we are blessed to still be alive and healthy. So, let’s focus on that, and our jobs (if we have one), our families, and let’s pray that everything turns out for good. LE’TS WAIT AND SEE!
August 23, 2020 at 21:07
Wise words.
August 23, 2020 at 12:28
dans ce cas pensez vous que 2021AF000056XXX est un numero de dossier sur!
August 23, 2020 at 13:00
August 23, 2020 at 14:59
August 23, 2020 at 21:07
Ignored.
August 23, 2020 at 07:07
Dear brit,
1. Considering that DV2021 has 130,000 winners, can we safely assume that there would not be a second draw in October?
2. Do you think DV2022 will also have similar numbers in qualified entries as DV2021 thus increasing winning chances?
August 23, 2020 at 20:46
1. Yes
2. I don’t know. The passport rule will probably still be in place, so that may keep numbers lower.
