OK – I have produced several videos to explain what we know so far about the case numbers after the release of the per country numbers. There is a lot of information, and it is too much information to type – so I really encourage you to go and view the videos.
First there is a generic video that covers the whole global number and discusses some important factors that will affect the progress this year. Those factors are:
- The pandemic
- The presidential election
- The immigrant ban and the lawsuit
- Schengen area ban and similar bans
- The travel ban (Muslim ban)
- The Passport rule impact
So – with all those factors you will not be surprised that I don’t give specific number cutoff predictions, and I won’t be doing that. However, I have explained in each region specific video numbers that I consider “no brainer” safe – (meaning please don’t ask me under these case numbers).
Yes the videos are long. This is an important subject. If you can’t be bothered to spend a few minutes listening to me and just ask me a question I answer in the videos, I will simply ignore your question. I find that very disrespectful and lazy.
So – here is the first video that everyone should watch.
Then after that, pick the region video that interests you.
August 21, 2020 at 02:08
Hi Simon, is there a way to see your videos in Spanish or with subtitles? It is that I do not speak English and the videos would be very useful.
August 21, 2020 at 02:13
You can turn on the caption in English 🙂
August 21, 2020 at 03:53
Not that I know of Adrian. My wife has offered to translate, but it’s a time consuming task.
August 21, 2020 at 18:47
I’m confused.. If my number is AF19xx and I applied with my family. Does the number include their visas too? AF1900
or AF1904. Or each person has separate number.
August 21, 2020 at 22:19
A case number includes the winner and all derivatives.
August 21, 2020 at 02:11
The amount of work you put in to help the people you don’t even know… How can you be so selfless?
THANK YOU!!
August 21, 2020 at 02:29
So, AF21xxx for Egypt seems to be risky this year.
August 21, 2020 at 05:15
What are the highest Egypt numbers you have heard?
August 21, 2020 at 06:56
The highest number i have heard in Egypt about 36000
August 21, 2020 at 15:04
Thanks!
August 21, 2020 at 22:03
The biggest Egypt number I have heard is 69xxx for DV21
August 22, 2020 at 13:44
I encountred one in a facebook group 2021AF78xxx from egypt.
August 22, 2020 at 18:14
Hmmm, that seems unlikely. It might be someone living in Egypt but not charged to Egypt.
August 23, 2020 at 16:42
@BritSimon, in your view, so what is the likely highest number in Egypt in DV21?
My number is around 24k
I don’t trust many folks (seem fake accounts) in Facebook groups
August 23, 2020 at 21:14
I have started a survey to collect more data.
August 21, 2020 at 02:39
Thank you for your tireless work and compiling these region specific videos Britsimon. So incredibly helpful. Your honest appraisal of OC numbers, whilst disapppointing news for me (OC27xx) is an early reality check that 2021 isnt likely to be my year. I also took your sage advice back in June and did not submit my DS260 early and am very grateful to avoided a redundant statement of immigration intent. Deepest thanks and kind regards, Michelle.
August 21, 2020 at 05:15
Cheers Michelle – keep an eye on the site, just in case something odd happens. Also, make sure you enter DV2022 – you may win again.
August 21, 2020 at 09:24
Cheers Britsimon. Will do, on both counts! 🙂
August 23, 2020 at 09:11
Why redundant? Just applying for the DV does not constitute immigrant intent.
August 21, 2020 at 02:52
Thanks Sir. I see that DV visas have been issued in Khartoum, Sudan during previous years (2020, 2019, 2018, ….) and you mentioned there is a travel ban in effect for Sudan. So how they issued DV visas while the travel ban?
according to the Diversity Visa Charts web page and CEAC Data
August 21, 2020 at 05:09
It could be people charged to other countries, or people with dual citizenship and so on.
August 21, 2020 at 03:44
Hi Simom.
Is it safe AS29***?
August 21, 2020 at 04:47
Ignored.
August 21, 2020 at 04:01
Hi Simon,
I have a relatively low case number 2021EU00014***, but I am from one of the countries that are cut off during the draw process due to too many applications. I just wanted to confirm:
1) If 7% of 55000 or 3850 cases (applicants plus their derivatives) are processed before me, then I will not be able to proceed with obtaining the DV?
2) Is there a higher chance for the selectees from my country to have a lower case number? Or, as I understand, selectees from my country cannot have case numbers in the higher range, since, at some point, they wouldn’t be drawn due to the artificial limit?
Thank you
August 21, 2020 at 04:47
1. If that happened, then yes – but that would mean a country that is cutoff in selection VERY early.
2. Yes – as explained in my videos.
August 21, 2020 at 04:10
Hi,Brit, i just watched ur latest video of explaining case numbers for DV 2021 Asia.. Im from Srilanka and my case no is AS 12,9** … what do you think? i just heard that case numbers under 10,000 in asia region is safe side….
Thanks for your great videos…
August 21, 2020 at 04:44
You heard what I think.
August 21, 2020 at 05:42
Dear Simon
According to your video have been uploaded for Asia, DV 2021 winners with high case numbers above 10 000 , does not have more chance, I am in this category, can i apply for DV 2022?
Thanks
August 21, 2020 at 05:43
Yes
August 21, 2020 at 08:53
lol.. Thanks Brit
August 21, 2020 at 05:04
Hi Brit,
In your video analysis, you mentioned about application denials due to the use of an old picture. Is there a way to check the date of my uploaded picture for DV2021. How risky is it if I’m going through AOS?
August 21, 2020 at 05:33
No way to check. Not risky.
August 21, 2020 at 05:52
i have watched your video Mr simon my case number is As 35xxx for asia it is high case number and i understand my chance is low and depend on the political events i want to know sir can i enter dv 2022 although i am winner of 2021 and one more think if it become current to the whole region of asia in Augest does that mean i have chance for the interview much thanks Mr simon
August 21, 2020 at 14:59
Yes, ANYONE can enter DV2022.
A region only goes current if there are more than enough visas left for available demand. So – it is likely we will not see Asia going current, depending on the factors I mentioned.
August 22, 2020 at 23:51
Bashir, I have a very slim chance too, AS32XXX and my interview will be in Peru. And Peru has 1559 Selectees. But do not give up yet.

August 21, 2020 at 05:58
Hello bristsimon, I am camerounian my case number start by AF00070… For these numbers have we the same luck to be selected? I have completed ds260 and others pieces. Please
August 21, 2020 at 15:00
That’s a high number – you will have to wait and see – and watch the videos!
August 21, 2020 at 05:43
Hi Brit,
Even Asia we have 25,000 selectees , still that entire people will not process rite? as some might have applied without pass ports, some people hasn’t checked whether won or not, some people dnt have a sponsor… so among 25,000 roughly how many cases will not be processed? did you consider those facts as well? pls don’t misunderstand or get angry..i watched d video n saw that you considered the holes in between case numbers.
August 21, 2020 at 05:46
Seems like you didn’t listen too well. I explained about people that don’t respond, people that get denied and so on. Obviously if that were not the case – they would not over select at all.
August 21, 2020 at 05:52
oh im sorry..i will watch again… sorry n extremely sorry
August 21, 2020 at 06:11
Good morning Sir , I am from ASia thank you very much for your effort you have made in these videos ,
I have heard about something related to the passport rule which many applicant will be refused .
1_ did you mean let ‘s say wrong passport number , fake passport number , expired passport number , …ECT?
2- is there any way to know how the holes are distributed in Asia in the case numbers for this year 2021 ?
3- will the case numbers of the four ban countries be considered holes until at least the end of the year if the court issues TRO on 27august even if they submit their DS 260?
4 – if we want to talk mathematically ,could we consider that the big part of the holes locates in the first part of these case numbers?
Thank you very much in advance
August 21, 2020 at 15:03
1. Yes
2. We will know exactly in January. Not until then.
3. No, those cases are processed and can even be interviewed.
4. No, the opposite. More holes in later number ranges. Watch the videos!
August 21, 2020 at 07:01
Hi Simon, I am from Nepal and my case number is AS81XX. As you thought cases under 10000 are relatively safer in Asia. What would be considered safe for Nepal? I have heard case from about AS1600 to AS10000 from Nepal, what’s the highest number you heard of Nepal? Also can it be possible that case number AS1600 is allocated to Nepal and AS1601 other countries of Asia and AS1602 to Nepal again or does the allocation of number goes as per country wise serially. Also thank you for your efforts.
August 21, 2020 at 15:09
I have heard of a Nepal case just under 10k. As I explained in my video, I don’t think Nepal will have a cutoff because the selectee number is not too bad.
You may have only heard about cases starting from 1600, but I can assure you that AS cases start from 1 and that first case could be ANY country. The draw is random.
August 21, 2020 at 15:54
Sorry for not being clear in my second question. What I wanted to say was suppose that the 1st case number AS1 is allocated to Nepal then can AS2 be allocated to some other country in the aisa region like iran and then next number AS3 to Nepal again or is it like selecting all the candidates of a country serially and then next selecting from next country like AS1-AS10000 Nepal then from AS10001-AS14000 some other country. Hope I am clear with my question this time.
August 21, 2020 at 16:32
Completely random draw. So Nepal selectees will show up at any number in the early ranges, until the draw system started rejecting cases from Nepal because they had hit a predetermined limit.
August 22, 2020 at 17:52
I hv heard of single digit case number in Nepal.
August 21, 2020 at 07:06
Hi Brit. I watched the video, although I didn’t quiet well understand the point. There are too many selectees from the Ukraine, where I am from and my case number is 23-24k. I saw a table with selectees from Ukraine with numbers 33-36k. Would you consider my case number quite safe or not?
August 21, 2020 at 15:12
If you are correct about Ukraine having numbers up to 36K, then you are at about 66% of the Ukraine case numbers – meaning – behind 66%, in front of 34%. Now apply that to the Ukraine country selectee number to know your position in the queue.
August 21, 2020 at 07:30
Hey Simon,
i have a question about password issue during my application my passport was expired and i had no money to renewal my passport and when i was applying i said that i don’t have passport and there was an option of mentioning why you don’t have a passport and i chose “Financial issue” so will this affect my process?
Thank you and i really appreciate what you’re doing for us!
August 21, 2020 at 15:13
You are likely to be disqualified – but as I have mentioned a smart move would be to wait until we hear whether they are disqualifying people such as yourself that thought the rule would not apply to you.
August 22, 2020 at 10:03
Hi Simon
Thanks for the video! What about case number AF00068xxx how safe I am.
My passport has less then a year so I decided to renewal it, so what do you makeup about that.
Thanks.
August 22, 2020 at 17:54
First question ignored.
Second question answered in the FAQ.
August 21, 2020 at 07:36
Hi Brit.. in my ds 260 form I mentioned 3 addresses. My question is to which address will KCC sent information for documents?? And if I have written the other 2 addresses in Capital letters will that cause any problem???
August 21, 2020 at 15:13
No
August 21, 2020 at 09:14
Hi
First of all thank you for your huge efforts in making these very informative videos about the DV lottery.
I just wanted to give you data that maybe helpful for you.
I’m from Morocco and my case number is (2021AF76xxx).
I’m applying your advised strategy of wait and see 🙂
August 21, 2020 at 15:34
Thanks!
December 15, 2020 at 00:34
Hi Brit,
I have understood very well your analysis.
Regarding the person in Morocco with case number AF76xxx, is it that they were capped beyond that number or they were not
December 15, 2020 at 03:51
I don’t know where the AF region caps are.
August 21, 2020 at 09:16
In visa bulletin in the previous years in the months of August and September it says current in Asia region does that mean visas are available for all winners even high case number much thanks Mr simon i saw your videos and i understand my position better and i will enter dv2022
August 21, 2020 at 15:36
Regions only go current when there are more than enough visas for remaining demand. We are likely not going to see current this year because there appear to be more selectees than needed.
August 21, 2020 at 09:24
Awesome blog BritSimon – a friend just recommended it!
Can I ask a stupid question – the case number you are referring to is the end numbers of the case number ie 2021OC00000xxx (the x numbers?) my last 3 digits is under 200 – meaning in theory I would have a good chance of getting an interview?
Last question Do you know when I can make the interview – my numbers are still not recognisable and I’m getting the run around from KCC and USCIS as I’m adjusting a current visa status from an L1.
Thank you!
August 21, 2020 at 15:43
If you have a case number under OC200 your number is very low. The visa bulletin just published made your number current, and you can submit your I-485 on or after October 1 (assuming you want to adjust status early).
You are getting the run around from KCC and USCIS because they are not informed enough to be able to help you. That is not their job.
The best DV related AOS help you can find anywhere is a person called Sm1smom. She helps people through AOS and with her, you won’t need a lawyer. Go to the link below, read the spreadsheet linked from the firts post on that thread, and then ask Mom if you have questions (AFTER reading the spreadsheet).

August 21, 2020 at 09:47
Simon, thanks for putting in the work and getting all this information together.
Just letting you know that some time ago I saw someone on this blog commenting and mentioning a EU case number of 6XXXX. I recall it as I took a screenshot. I do not know if those four Xs were some sort of typo or if she actually meant 60k. This would reinforce your idea that 55xxx could be on the conservative side.
August 21, 2020 at 15:46
I always look for confirmation by multiple reports, so I have considered that an outlier/typo. If I were to get more reports I would adjust upward, but we will know for certain in January.
August 21, 2020 at 10:04
Hello Simon, I am interested to know about the higher case number above 10xxx as risky as you said and the travel ban is not lifted yet. Could it be a real slim chance to be invited for a visa due to the numbers of selectees are higher in overall Asia and the invite process is particularly blocked by the ban? Does KCC do its own process regardless of the ban?
August 21, 2020 at 15:46
If the travel ban is not lifted then AS case numbers will go higher than 10XXX.
August 21, 2020 at 10:17
U av laid it bare sir. Hongera sana!
August 21, 2020 at 15:48

August 21, 2020 at 18:43
Sure, welcome to Kenya. More particularly at our Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Among the best globally
August 21, 2020 at 22:19
One day I will – for sure.
August 22, 2020 at 14:21
Hi brit! Rely thanks for your help! I watched your video for south America and in the min 10 I can’t understand what you say and this minute is when you refer to case number. My case number is SA35XX I am in the limit! Have chance of interview? Thanks
I made the same questions in YouTube and come here because at the end of the video yoy request to do the questions here!
Thanks again
August 22, 2020 at 17:19
I said at SA35XX or so “you have good cause to be nervous, but at the same time, you can’t give up”.
August 21, 2020 at 10:59
Thank you for the valuable information Brit
My luck isn’t so great this year 🙂
2021AS17xxx
Anyways, keep the good work up!
August 21, 2020 at 15:59
Helo BritSimon thanks for your explanation my case number is AF000308xxx ist higher and if I want to reaply again for my DV22 incase thanks
August 21, 2020 at 16:30
The video above answers your case number question. Don’t be lazy.
Yes you can enter DV2022. Anyone can.
August 21, 2020 at 11:27
I don’t really have a question but I just wanted to thank you for everything you do. The articles and videos are super informative and I appreciate it. We’ve been quite unlucky with the high number of selectees this year, but it is what it is. Personally I’m going to take a break for a while and focus on my life in my current country. If I end up getting an interview, it’ll be a nice surprise. 🙂
August 21, 2020 at 15:55
Sounds like a sensible plan. People get very “jumpy” about this watching for every piece of news, but it drives some people nuts.
August 21, 2020 at 11:30
Hi BIrt
Thank you for your helpful videos !
i’m from Syria, one of the banned countries by both immigrant and travel bans
i just didn’t get what you mean exactly by saying that people form these countries will not be able to process there cases
Does it mean that the DS260 won’t be processed at all or does it mean that i could have an interview but i have very high chance of visa rejection (if both bans were active) ?
Thank you
August 21, 2020 at 15:56
The latter. They will offer you an interview – but with the travel ban in place you won’t be approved unless you have some extraordinary reason to get an exemption.
August 21, 2020 at 11:51
Hi Brit im a 2021 winner and my case number is EU21*** from Albani. Do you think is a good number?
August 21, 2020 at 16:00
Ignored.
August 21, 2020 at 11:56
Hi Brit, thanks again for the thorough analysis. It makes a lot of sense to me. You considered factors which no one could/would have considered. I have 3 questions which I could not find in FAQ, if you have already answered them then just ignore.
1. Where can we find country wise number of DV-2021 entrants(applicants)?
2. How do they decide, how many winners to be chosen from a particular country for a particular year?
3. When I enter in a lottery, do I compete with all entrants globally or with entrants from my region or with entrants from my country Of chargeability?
August 21, 2020 at 16:07
1. They only publish that in three year chunks – so we don’t have the 19/20/21 info yet – we should have it in the next few months. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-program-statistics.html
2. They don’t decide that. It’s a random draw, more entries for a given country means more winners. You can see an explanation here: https://youtu.be/Yif_o3uAkuw
3. Region.
August 21, 2020 at 13:02
Thank you for the videos Simon. I was very much waiting for them and were very informative. I am in the 27XXX range in EU so it will be interesting to see how it plays out with all the factors mentioned above. Indeed a crazy year but it also give me time to really think everything through. Thank you again. Appreciate the time and effort from you on all of this.
August 21, 2020 at 16:12
🙂
August 21, 2020 at 19:26
Hi Brit the genious who my little daughter call santa.
Thanks so much about this wonderful information.
Am from Africa dv 2021 winner and my casw number is AF84xxx which means its a possibly more than a high case number.
Just to say thanks to you and we are keeping hope and prayers that all goes well..
Am your biggest fun and my kids too.
Keep it up and God bless you
August 21, 2020 at 22:27
Haha – Santa – that made me laugh.

August 21, 2020 at 22:43
Ohhhh this is sooo amazing of you brit.. our Santa.
Sure definately.
Any case numbers higher than AF84xxx as am holding that number from Uganda.
May be that would also help in finding out our highest case numbers.
Big up the man of the day and night.
You inspire us alot
August 21, 2020 at 13:05
Good morning sir ,
Thank you for your perfect and clear analysis and thank you for your daily effort you make,
Sir as we have read and heard that in Asia the likely number of cases is 14436 and the highest case number is AS 36000 or more because I have friend his number is AS36xxx ,
1- could we say that the average holes in 100 cases is about 60 cases (14436*100/36000=40 occupied) so 100 – 40=60 holes?
2- could we say this understanding , [as we have high case numbers as the cutoff should go high otherwise it is not necessary to select until this highest case number because they know the holes and they know how many visas will be issued and they know the range of the cutoff so they will not spend time on cases far away from getting visas . ] What do you think Sir.
Thank you in advance
August 21, 2020 at 16:15
1. Yes that would be the average, but in the early number ranges (before Nepal and Iran cases are exhausted) there will be fewer holes (maybe 30/40%). Then in the later number ranges we could see a 80 or 90% holes rate.
2. I’m not sure I understand your question.
August 21, 2020 at 14:01
Hello Simon,
I have a question about the supporting documents. Once I submit the DS-260, then will KCC announce me to submit the supporting documents? Or I don’t have to wait for their announce and just send the documents to KCC? Please let me know your opinion. Thank you
August 21, 2020 at 16:25
It’s usually better to wait to be asked.
August 21, 2020 at 16:37
Thank you very much for your reply.
August 21, 2020 at 14:23
Hello Brit ?
My cn is Eu30k..what do u tiink is that a possibility to be my number current and does it look like as a high number ?
August 21, 2020 at 16:26
Ignored.
August 21, 2020 at 15:01
I’m in the UK and have a high Asia case number (29XXX) due to my wife being born in HK. Like you I’d much rather see Trump lose in November even if it means that it eradicates any slight chance I have. Given the overarching scenario, am I correct in thinking that it would be best to wait and see how things progress before submitting my DS-260?
Thanks again for everything you do, even when the news isn’t so good your videos are very illuminating and an excellent resource.
Guy
August 21, 2020 at 16:28
Yes Guy, I would wait at least until after the election, and depending on the outcome maybe until Feb/March next year. There is no advantage to submit early when you have to wait for your case number anyway.
August 21, 2020 at 16:40
Hello Brit,
I appreciate your clear analysis. I have still some questions:
1- I am from Iran with CN AS17XXX. as I noticed from your videos, my CN is not low nor risky. (I a hope I analyzed it right). Is it possible to somehow have a rough estimation the number of CNs from Iran till my CN?
2-Can we simply assume that the distribution of holes till the highest CNs (AS36XXX) is uniform in order to have rough estimation?
3-I filled the DS-260 on June 13 and I have not received the letter of submission of support documents yet. As far as I know some people with the similar CNs have already received such email last month. should I do something about it and why is so?
4-In most of the FYs the CNs in all regions went current in the last 3/4 months. Does it mean that in those months KCC assumed that there is enough visas available for the rest of the selectees?
My questions are seem to be a bit optimistically looking at issues in DV2021, however I know there could be drastic deviations from what we should assume. Therefore, that would be helpful if you make it clear just out of my curiosity.
Thanks again and hope you be safe&sound.
Regards,
Amir
August 21, 2020 at 16:59
1. Well you actually do have some risk. First, Iran is under a travel ban. So unless you have some reason to be exempted from the ban (or it gets removed) you cannot be approved. Second, Iran has 6000 selectees. If the ban is removed, most will try and process their cases, and there is a cap of ~3800 visas for any one country. So – there could be a cutoff for Iran, and your case might be above that cutoff. Third, background checks for Iranians (especially males) take a long time – 6 months is not unusual. So – even if you get an interview, even if the ban is removed, you would still be at risk if your interview takes place too late in the year because you would be on AP while background checks are performed, and on September 30th 2021 you hit a deadline that cannot be exceeded.
2. No. Nepal and Iran make the distribution not uniform. I show that in the AS video above.
3. You were unwise to even submit that early – and you certainly should not be impatient. You have many months to wait.
4. Yes – but as I explained that is unlikely to happen this year, especially if Iran gets unblocked.
August 21, 2020 at 17:39
It’s a tough year for most of the dv2021 winners.
It is likely that the pandemic will still continue throughout the year of 2021, and unfortunately there seems no effective way to make it under control unless the vaccine are rolled out and most of the people are being vaccinated (it’s a long way to go).
And there are all kinds of bans in place, even though some might be lifted if Biden get elected. The whole dv process might still strongly affected by the covid-19, and things might even get worse after fall season as medical professions predicted.
It’s really hard to predict the result and which case number could be considered as safe as Brit mentioned. It’s an unfortunate and “really strange” year in my opinion.
August 21, 2020 at 19:45
Hello sir.
I registered my wife and my kids (all of them under 18) and I won this year.
But I have a son from an ex wife that I did not register in the first time.
I added him to my children’s list on form ds260 and stated that he would not travel with us.(because his mother refuses to do so).
I do not have his passport either.
What should I do? Can I leave the child ds260 form incomplete? Or do I fill it out?
Will my case faile because not registering the kid in the 1st registration ?
Thank you in advance

If that child was under 21 then he should have been listed. Your failure to do that means you will be disqualified. There is NO doubt. You should stop the process – because to continue would be a waste of time and money.

Good afternoon Sir , DV 2021 winner , case number AS11006
thank you very for your explanations and your effort ,
1- as we have read and heard nothing is clear about the cutoff due to many factors , one of them is the holes , how are the holes distributed in the case numbers ?
2- do we know till know in which range of case numbers the holes are more existed or exhausted?
3- Do I have a chance to get an interview with this case number if we suppose the ban will be lifted on the four countries?
4- is there any reference which show us in which part the numbers are exhausted , for example between (AS00000001 and AS00015000 ) or (AS00010000 and AS15000) or (AS 15000 and AS20000) 0r ………..
Thank you Sir for your tolerance ,

Hi Britsimon, I’m a Dv2021 winner with case number AF000009*, my case number is now current on September vb, but I haven’t received an email for supporting documents from KCC, I submitted my ds-260 on 29th July, My question is was I late? And will I have lost my chance in any case I miss being scheduled in this current vb?
August 21, 2020 at 22:37
You weren’t too late – but you will have to be patient until your DS260 is processed. Then you will send documents, and once those documents are approved, they will schedule your interview. Patience…

Hi Mr Brit.
132k is the number of winners with derivatives.
That means the highest case number is 132k or no?
August 22, 2020 at 17:27
No. Watch the video – don’t be lazy in asking questions I have answered above.

Hi BritSimon,
My case number As75XX from Nepal currently living in Australia on non immigrant visa.
1. Considering the pandemic situation and the embassy being closed in Nepal and no clue when the embassy will open, how safe is it to select Australia as interview location? Will it have any consequence on not selecting home country as interview location?
2. How will my document be processed? Will I still fall under Nepal cut-off (Visa Bulletin)?
3. If I decide to be interviewed here in Australia will australian embassy schedule my interview or my file will be processed from Nepal?
August 22, 2020 at 17:28
1. No problem.
2. Yes
3. KCC decide where you will be interviewed based on the current address you give in the DS260.

I have come to America now … I am grateful for all the information you have given me..I live in Florida..If you come for vacation you can say ..
August 22, 2020 at 17:40
Awesome – welcome to America. Florida is great, has some lovely areas. Unfortunately it has a high percentage of Trump base – so good luck with that!

Hi Simon,
Am Peter from south Sudan, selected for DV 2021, AF97XX.
1. Do i have chance to proceed base on my case number?
1. In my DS 260, my interview post is Sudan (Khartoum), but it seems Sudan has ban issue, will affect me in future?.
Thanks
August 22, 2020 at 17:46
1. Did you look at the videos??
2. If you are from Sudan, yes you are banned – all discussed in my videos…
August 23, 2020 at 06:58
Hello brit
South sudan is not banned
August 23, 2020 at 20:44
Correct – I did not say it was did I?
August 22, 2020 at 10:11
Hi Brit , Why have they picked so many selectees this years? Any idea? Als do u think this 136,000 ppl will process their cases under the current situation in USA? Don’t u feel lik most ppl will not process compared to other years???
August 22, 2020 at 17:58
When the draw was performed, I doubt they knew how the pandemic would affect demand. But if you look at historical selectee counts, you will see this year is not the highest ever. So – sometimes they over select. They may have been planning to do that anyway since the past couple of years have failed to meet the quotas, and they may have decided to overfill the bucket for that reason. We don’t know for sure, its just speculation, but to quote Trump, “it is what it is”.
August 22, 2020 at 22:53
hi Brit, Masha again..
really????
quoted form ur comment- “They may have been planning to do that anyway since the past couple of years have failed to meet the quotas”- you mean the people who apply donot process later?
for example-FY 2018, all selectees are 87,110 n still couldn’t fill 55,000 quota? may be thats why they get current those years..
August 23, 2020 at 17:51
There are always people who do not proceed. And yes, that is why they always select more than 50k – but around 100k seems to be the ideal max.
August 22, 2020 at 12:28
Hello again Brit,
Regarding my last question, is there any negative point for submission of DS-260 in case someone couldn’t get an interview? i.e., for later visa applications in US?
Thanks in advance
Amir
August 22, 2020 at 18:07
Yes – as previously explained, and answered in the FAQ, submitting a DS260 can cause difficulties for future visa applications.

hi brit
I read and actualized your videos especially for the africa area but I didn’t understand.
I come from a French speaking country.
What is the box number threshold in Africa for dv 2021
August 22, 2020 at 20:19
I have not given any prediction.
August 22, 2020 at 21:29
Hi Simon, I’m a sucker for analyses and statistics and I tried to calculate the odds for DV21 based on various factors. I’ve been paying close attention to what you’ve been explaining so far and I managed to produce a spreadsheet with what the outcome might be. It might not be extremely accurate but I don’t think I’m too far off from reality. I will be constantly updating based on what I see. Can I e-mail it to you and tell me what you think? Thanks.
August 22, 2020 at 21:44
Sure.

Dear Simon, It’s a pleasure to talk with you.
I’m from South America and my case number is “SA2630”. According to your video, there are “2751 likely cases aprox.” So, Do you think that I’ll have a chance to get the interview?
Thank you very much for your support my friend.
Best regards.
August 23, 2020 at 18:01
I think you will get an interview eventually – but you need to understand all the factors I mention in the video.
August 23, 2020 at 07:03

August 23, 2020 at 11:32
Hello, i guess Brit reefing to the presidential proclamation which is expiring DEC-31, and that could be extended, we will know about that by Jan.
I would like also to know the max case number for Asia, however, 36K is the maximum i have seen in some forums.
