It is midnight in Washington – so that is the official end of one year and the beginning of the next. If you have not been approved for a DV2024 case by now, then sadly, your chance has gone. On the positive side, they came very close to the global cap, meaning they wasted very few visas. That is an admirable effort.
Best of luck to DV2025 selectees, and don’t forget to enter DV2026 which starts on October 2, 2024.

Hi Simon my case number is 2025OC355* , do you think it’s at risk?
October 11, 2024 at 07:49
Yes it is very much at risk. I will publish a video tomorrow explaining the math for OC, but the bottomline is that is extremely unlikely for your case to become current.

Hi,Simon
I applied for dv eight times unfortunately not selected but not lose hope.i want to ask one question my husband born eligible country but my birth country not eligible. My husband yesterday applied again with me and our kids. Can I apply husband birth country eligibleilty? If yes we use same pictures or different which one he entered. Actually every year we made new pictures. I wish this year we will select.

You can enter. Question 5 you list your country of birth, and in Question 6 you click “no” and pick his country of birth. You can use the same photos. Good luck.

Hello sir i have a question…i have been selected for dv 2025 from Italy i live in Italy since i was 3 years old but my question is i was born in Bangladesh that is a country not eligible for dv. So is that a problem for my selection and interview? Can i have change to get my green card?
October 6, 2024 at 09:33
As you were born in Bangladesh, you would normally be ineligible.
Where are your parents from?
Are you married?
I assume you have an EU case number – correct?

Hi Brit, thank so much for your help, really appreciate it. I and my husband had been blessed to winned DV lottery for the third time for 2025. The first, we were not successful because of covi 19, the second we were denied on ground that they couldn’t find my husband name in the system despite his name been listed for the interview and all the other evidence that show we play as couple. My embassy is Monrovia, Liberia and refusers rate at this embassy is very very high compared with other African countries. From my experience I believe that many have been denied visa for reasons that have no idea about. From the first two times that we won, it was I who was the principal applicant but for DV 2025, it’s my husband who is the principal applicant with case# 2025AF22***. This time around we don’t want to miss this opportunity so we thinking about changing our embassy since the neighboring embassy doing very well.
Q: 1, looking at our case number, do you think that we still have time to change embassy?
Q: 2, What do you think is the best advice for us because we don’t want miss this opportunity.
Hope for your kind reply very soon.
Thank so much for your help.

Hello brits, my case number is 2025OC165X, I just recently requested for my spouse’s and my son’s DS260 to be unlock. which they have unlocked my spouse’s but waiting for my son’s to be unlocked. my question is if I keep requesting for unlock will it cause a problem in my interview.
And in my DS260 my sons place of birth is wrong as well. I did check before submitting just don’t know what happen. so, should I request for my ds260 to unlock as well to correct it or should I just wait until the interview.
thank you

Hi Brit, I am from Nigeria, I want to apply for family dv lottery 2026, myself and hubby has 2 kids(girls), but I m pregnant at the moment, by next year, I will be having the baby. Won’t I be disqualified if I finally becomes a winner, seems I didn’t upload any information about the unborn child. Pls advice me on what to do. Many thanks.
October 3, 2024 at 10:07
Of course you don’t enter information about an unborn child. So once the baby is born you would add that child to the process later. But you have to get selected first, and people born in Nigeria are ineligible – so think about that. Is your husband also Nigerian?

October 1, 2024 at 17:58
hi brits, My husband is the primary applicant, I was going thru my DS260 form today and notice that I had filled wrongly his occupation on my ds260. so to request KCC to unlock the ds260……should i do the request or he should do it since his the primary applicant. submitted the DS260 on 20th august.
October 1, 2024 at 18:14
Doesn’t matter which one asks as long as you give the correct information.
October 1, 2024 at 18:30
so, when I email KCC can should i email the right information to them or I wait for KCC to unlock the ds260.
October 1, 2024 at 21:21
You ask for unlock and you make the change.

Dakar Embassy screwed me up. Can’t imagine with case number 59*** but didn’t get an interview. I applaud Nairobi Embassy the best performing embassy in Africa.
October 2, 2024 at 09:31
My friend ur saying Nairobi is the best, ask brits.am from Kenya and dv23 I was case 31896 and that was a good case number and they screwed me.i don’t even want to remember that horror
October 2, 2024 at 13:06
Embassy performance changes year to year. In DV2024, NRB was about the best.
October 1, 2024 at 02:05
But qu think they(CO) are hearthless. Instead to over the quotas few and most years don’t hit the quota is not good.
Why giving people hope if they don’t want to give remaining visas? That few visas waited was a hope close for some famiies. So sad.
In 2012 they waist 15k visas. It happens to us but don’t wish it to happen the other knowing chance of being selected is very low.

Thank you Sir
September 30, 2024 at 23:58
Dear Simon,
Do you consider it was a good year in term of efficiency/issuance?
What was the pros and cons of this year comparing to other years?
It would be great to hear your yearly conclusion about DV2024.
Thank you
October 1, 2024 at 07:17
Well, in general I guess the ultimate metric would be how many visas they can issue, without going over and without wasting any. 54847 were available. They are within about 300 of that number (can’t say exactly yet because of AOS). So they stopped before breaking the law by going over, and “only” undershot by 300. That is probably one of the best years. DV2022 and DV2023 both went over the cap, and prior to that almost every year was significantly UNDER the cap.
I think they should have done more scheduling in March to May, they didn’t need to leave things as late as they did, they got off to a good start then slowed.
Also this was the year they broke the 2nl system (which upset DV2025, but broke in DV2024).
