So – a BIG thank you to Xarthisius who has stayed up all night and gathered the CEAC data for DV2025. You can now go to the link below and get all sorts of insights into the distribution of cases, highest case numbers per region, derivative rates, density of cases, embassy performance so far and so on. Those of us that like to monitor the DV lottery program know how important this data is.
So – go to the site and have a look. I will be recording a video shortly to explain the data and how it can help us understand the program.

Hello, apologies for the Q: I am an EU selectee for DV2026 for with a case number above 50k. I am a little confused if I should be submitting a DS260, or if I should wait for my number to come up in the bulletin first. Thanks in advance!
December 29, 2025 at 16:07
So Jeff, I assume that you are a UK selectee that was added as a selectee because of my UK lawsuit. I say that because no other cases have case numbers above EU50K.
The general principle is that you submit the DS260 before you become current, with the expectation that your DS260 will have been processed (background checks and so on) prior to becoming current.
However, DV2026 is over selected and in that scenario it is possible that your case number does not become current (particularly as some of the UK selectees have crazy high case numbers). In that case your submission of the DS260 can have a negative impact on future non immigrant visa applications, since you will have shown “immigrant intent”. That factor isn’t a big deal for some people, and is more of a concern for others. You must consider your own feeling.
However, to have a chance of getting interviewed if the region does become “current” (where all case numbers are eligible to have an interview), you will most likely have to submit the DS260 before knowing whether it will be worth it or not.

Hi Simon, have the DV 2025 winners from Afghanistan not been guaranteed after Trump’s visa restriction order?
August 24, 2025 at 10:38
I’m not sure what you mean. The government have refused cases under the travel ban – although that is the subject of a lawsuit.
August 26, 2025 at 11:22
I mean, will the 2025 lottery winners from Afghanistan be asked for interviews after Trump’s immigration ban?
August 26, 2025 at 13:43
Cases that are subject to the ban do still get invited for interviews, yes.

Good evening Siman, I am a DV2026 winner with a case number around 46K. I am from Djibouti, but our U.S. Embassy in Djibouti is very slow, as in previous years. Do you advise me to transfer my case to another embassy, or should I stay with the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti?
August 21, 2025 at 14:11
I already answered you…

Dear Simon, I hope you are doing well. I am a DV2026 selectee with a case number of 45K, and I would kindly like to know if I am allowed to submit an entry for the DV2027 lottery next May. Thank you very much for your guidance.
August 17, 2025 at 18:19
Yes, no problem.

Hi Sir,
I am a DV2025 winner with case number 2025EU1982* but I completed the DS-260 on May 9, 2025 because that’s when I saw the result. Do I have any chance of getting 2NL with the September bulletin visa?
August 15, 2025 at 21:10
Mostly September 2NLs are completed. If your DS260 is processed now, there is a small chance you could get scheduled, but it depends on being processed AND having a very cooperative embassy. Have you checked if you have been processed? Which embassy are you assigned to?
August 18, 2025 at 15:15
The KCC says that the forms are processing. I have the case at the embassy in Albania, Tirana.

It depends where the spelling mistake is. If it is in the name, then unlock and correct, if it is just the address of a previous workplace – then no need to correct it.

Hey Sir Im AF52K Nairobi Kenya but i managed to switch to U.S. Embassy Bangkok and they accepted having in mind my case is still at NVC they responded by saying
Dear Shawn Kinyanjui Gitagia,
Thank you for your email.
Your case transfer request has been accepted. We will reach out to the KCC to transfer your case to our Unit.
then after i forwarded the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok email to KCC they responded by saying
KCC DV
Tue, Jul 29, 4:38 PM (23 hours ago)
to me
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. If you are scheduled for an interview date, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
should i just start preparing to get to Bangkok or what do you think ?
July 30, 2025 at 09:44
Now you wait and see if the Bangkok embassy manage to get KCC to send your case.
July 26, 2025 at 14:48
Hello Mr. Simon,
First of all, thank you very much for everything you’re doing for the DV (Diversity Visa) community. It’s really not easy, and we are extremely grateful to you.
Now, I would like to ask a question. It has come up several times over the past week that the U.S. Embassy in Cotonou is no longer scheduling interviews for DV 2025. We are selectees, myself included, with a case number of 52,080. I’m still waiting for the second letter, but up until now, nothing — whereas embassies like Ouagadougou and others have already sent out second letters and scheduled interviews.
People with case numbers as high as 57,020 and above have already received their second letters at the embassy in Ouagadougou. Honestly, I would like to know what’s going on.
Thank you very much for your response.
July 26, 2025 at 16:13
It is an unfortunate reality that embassies cannot be compelled to schedule cases beyond they capacity. This happens every year. I have discussed this many times this year as a risk. There is nothing to be done unless you can persuade another embassy to take your case.
July 22, 2025 at 08:47
Hello Simon, Is it advisable to send a scanned and printed copy of a police certificate if the original hard copy is not available on you?
July 22, 2025 at 09:53
You can try – I am not sure if some CO would object.
July 19, 2025 at 23:57
Hello Simon, is it true that some information will be released at the end of the fiscal year for some who did not have the opportunity to become a current employee or were not invited for an interview, but some will be given the opportunity?
July 20, 2025 at 00:07
I’m not exactly sure what you you are referring to, but there is a hard deadline on September 30th.
