The government have announced that they expect Egypt to hit the 7% cap in the coming days. Previously when we have seen such announcements, the limit is reached very soon after, and so it would not be a surprise to see the government halt Egyptian cases before the end of September, and most likely in early September.
To be clear, this affects any case chargeable to Egypt, no matter which embassy is interviewing the case. Similarly, it does NOT affect non Egyptian cases interviewing in Cairo. The cap is a limit on Egypt charged cases.
This is quite a rare occurrence, but it speaks to how well Egyptian cases have been scheduled this year, and the high percentage of cases being approved. For those that are currently scheduled, please make sure you go to the interview properly prepared. If you are missing a document and are placed on 221g, you could easily lose your chance.

Oh no, what a disappointment. After 28 years of applying for the DV lottery, I was selected for EU2025 with the number 24xxx and I got nothing in return. The September EU newsletter is
23 000 . But I won’t stop there, I’ll wrap myself up again ❤️

Oh wow – that’s sad. Hopefully you will get selected again soon.

Is it possible to change anything by the end of September?

No

Hello Simon. For Egypt situation where they will reach the cap. When do you think will announce the cut off date of visa interviews??. Mine is September 15 and I got very worried!!. Do you think I have a chance after this announcement??? Thank you.

I have no way to know when the cap will be reached until after those scheduled such as yourself start getting emails saying their interviews are cancelled.

Do I have chance in EG if my number is 15k but my ds260 has not been processed yet?
August 21, 2025 at 07:34
Please be clear when you ask questions. You haven’t said the year – so now I have to waste time guessing, or answering both years.
If yours is a DV2025 case, no – you have no chance now. They have announced they have too many people.
If yours is a DV2026 case, your case number is small, and you will have a chance.

Which embassy will you recommend for me to write
August 20, 2025 at 13:42
The only embassies that have been cooperative recently are Vienna and Bangkok – but you also have to consider where you can travel. This is part of the problem. You have left this very late, so time is not on your side.

Always post questions in English please.
Dakar has scheduled September interviews. They have consistently taken one batch per month every month. Though not impossible, it doesn’t seem likely they would take any more.
August 20, 2025 at 11:18
My case is AF53 interview location Dakar is there any chance for me?
August 20, 2025 at 11:22
Probably not.
August 20, 2025 at 12:42
Any chance to transfer my case
August 20, 2025 at 12:57
You can try, but it is now a lot more difficult (perhaps impossible). You would need an embassy to instruct KCC to assign your case to them and schedule the case. That is hard to achieve at this point since most embassies are already receiving DV2026 cases.
August 20, 2025 at 14:38
Please recommend me any embassy that can help with my case
August 20, 2025 at 14:46
I don’t have a recommendation. You need to decide where you can travel and then contact those embassies, but I warn you not to waste any more time.
