OK – this is early days of DV2021, so it is too soon to know everything, but to help people understand about case numbers I put this video together.

July 8, 2020 at 14:51
Hi Simon,

July 8, 2020 at 20:59

July 11, 2020 at 18:00
Hello Again! Will you make a post or video when information about case numbers / number of selectees is released?

Hello. My sister’s case number is 249 she submitted her form and she received a message from KCC to submit other related documents what does it means please.
July 12, 2020 at 02:04
It’s normal – she should follow instructions.
July 19, 2020 at 23:50
Hi! My case number is EU32XXX, how long should I wait for the KCC documentation email?
July 20, 2020 at 00:32
As long as it takes. Just relax, your number won’t be current for months.
July 15, 2020 at 22:23
Hi Simon, I have a case number 2021 Diversity Visa AS000021**.
1) Is that a good case number?
2) Considering the case number, are the advantages to submitting the DS-260 application ASAP vs later?
3) I scoured your website and couldn’t determine why or how an early submission may be advantageous, especially when a later interview date may mean a closer interview day to post-Trump Admin.
Would love to hear your feedback! 🙂
July 15, 2020 at 23:37
1. Yes’
2. If you want the fastest possible interview, file earlier. But no matter how fast you file, you still have to wait to become current. You could also choose to delay your interview by filing later – your choice, depending on what you want.
3. See 2
July 16, 2020 at 00:56
Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I tried googling this question too before asking you:
What are the pros and cons of having the earliest possible interview?
July 16, 2020 at 17:17
It is just about your timing, when you want to move to the USA and so on.
July 16, 2020 at 12:06
Hi brit, my case no. is 2021AF23XXXx. Is this a high or low case number number
Thanks in advance bro
July 16, 2020 at 20:43
What is the highest number you have heard/read about?
July 18, 2020 at 11:29

July 18, 2020 at 13:42
So…. your number is lower than 50XXX – right???
July 20, 2020 at 09:30
Yes sir
July 17, 2020 at 22:38
Goodday sir, I n my wife won the Dv21,I have a worry,I played with my adopted children is it possible to take them after five years or more,,I also wish to know if their passport and birth certificates is needed at the am bassy during my interview,
July 17, 2020 at 23:00
As long as you can show you adopted them more than two years ago, you can include them. You will need full documentation for them, passport, birth cert, adoption paperwork.
July 18, 2020 at 11:35
Thanks sir
July 18, 2020 at 11:44
Hi,simon,I won family dv21,I losted my wife two months ago,is it possible to replace her with another family member who will bear her names
July 18, 2020 at 13:46
You mean fraudulently substitute someone and lie to the US government. That’s a really bad idea.
July 19, 2020 at 14:14
hi simon,
I won 2021 dv lottery with a case number 13500 from asian region . Im from sri lanka . Is this number safe ? As i learnt from your FAQ above 10,000 its not safe? Clarify this
July 19, 2020 at 15:19
Every year is different. It’s probably not that high.
July 20, 2020 at 13:22
Hi simon, I submitted my ds260 on mid june 2020 for dv2021, I unlocked it for updates on mid July, will the date submitted to KCC change to mid July or it will remain as mid June?
Regards
July 20, 2020 at 20:49
Doesn’t make any difference.
July 21, 2020 at 07:54
Hi,simon,I won family dv21,my wife don’t want to leave for America because our kids are very young she want to stayback an take of them because we don’t have enough finance to travel of us.please how can I fill the Ds260 for me to go US alone an later come an take them,
July 21, 2020 at 17:52
You would just complete your DS260. In that you list them all, but you won’t submit a DS260 for each of them.
July 22, 2020 at 00:00
Hi Simon, whats the highest OC you have seen. Thanks
July 22, 2020 at 00:42
For DV2021? About 32XX
July 22, 2020 at 20:31
Hi Simon thank you for your explanation. My number is AF00022037 very high?
Do I stand the chance of receiving a visa?
July 22, 2020 at 20:34
It’s not high.
July 23, 2020 at 18:06
Hi Sir, your replies are inspiring.
My sister won the lottery with case number 2021AF00063,XXX, when can she expect to be current?
July 23, 2020 at 19:39
That is a long way off – and we don’t have enough info now to guess accurately. So – wait and see.
July 23, 2020 at 19:56
Hi Simon, need help here. The passport I used to register has expired, should I use the new passport to fill ds260?
2. What happens to the old one?
3. Will I submit my boy passport details to kcc?
July 24, 2020 at 04:08
You will need to prove old and new passports.
July 23, 2020 at 22:36
Hi Simon, I need clarification from you please.
My baby was born after the registration, on December(not married to the mother yet). I want to include her(my baby) in the application process but don’t want to send her along should I be successful in the visas process.
1. Will I send her particulars to kcc?
2. Will I go with her to the interview?
July 24, 2020 at 03:55
Be clear. Do you want the baby to emigrate with you or not?
July 24, 2020 at 07:45
No. I don’t want the baby to imigrate with me.
July 24, 2020 at 13:20
Then you simply list the baby on your DS260 but don’t create a DS260 for the child.
August 2, 2020 at 16:55
Hi Simon, if me and my partner both entered the lottery but only I got selected, can we get married and have my partner be my derivative? Would that be counted as a double entry for my partner?
August 3, 2020 at 03:42
No problem.
August 2, 2020 at 20:47
Hello Brit ,I did my police certificate since June 26th 2020,I summited my DS-260 form on 7th,July, and I have not revived an email to forward my documents yet. Now my question is, can I srill use the police certificate, even if my docs are requested in December? Because I can’t go back to my home town ,it a war area with killing and kidnapping, its not safe to go at that part of the country,
August 3, 2020 at 03:52
Yes, you can use it up to 1 year old.
August 3, 2020 at 17:10
Dear, I won DV 2021 with the Case number AF73XXX. What do you say about the Case number? Thanks
August 3, 2020 at 22:17
The number itself is meaningless. Neither you nor I know how many selectees there are before your number. So – you need to wait until we know the selectee numbers which will probably be released in the next Visa Bulletin. When we have more info – I will write about it.
August 3, 2020 at 14:52
hi Simon,
I won DV lottery 2021 and my case number is 4xxxx. I am trying to fill DS-260. But my country is banned from immigrants visa on Feb. 2020. Now a am living in other country. Is it possible to fill the ds 260 in my current address and be processed?
August 3, 2020 at 21:53
No. I suggest you wait and see the outcome of the election in November. If Trump loses, the ban could be removed by the next President in time for you to process your case.
August 5, 2020 at 08:13
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2021AF00038746 i have submitted DS 260 is there a chance to be selected or not.
August 5, 2020 at 16:42
Yes. Be patient.
August 6, 2020 at 06:05
Hi Brit,
You may explained this earlier, but I’m not really able to find a clear answer to it.
Now i can see from your replies, that some case numbers i.e AS35XXX is considered high numbers, however AF35XXX is not very high.
How the case numbers per region is been given, is the same number repeated under each region? ie you have 2021ASXX1, 2021AFXX1 and 2021EUXX1?
in my opinion and if number are not repeated, and each winner has a unique case numbers, then selectees below 50k (considering the number of selectees under each case, and the 7% per country role) should have a decent chance.
Thank you
August 6, 2020 at 19:15
You obviously have not watched the video. Your question is answered in the first 2 minutes of that video – and shows your opinion is incorrect. Watch the video.
August 8, 2020 at 16:26
How would someones prove old and new passports?
August 8, 2020 at 22:30
Come on – use some imagination.
August 9, 2020 at 09:29
Hi Symon, I was rejected visa in 2017 for a single mistake I made on my place of birth, now I filled and win with my correct place of birth.
Can I submit that same visa application details everything was correct?
How much does your sponsor require to have in their account minimum?
Is it possible to married and include you wife after results are out, I have my partner who I was intending to married despite this program.
August 9, 2020 at 19:42
1. Yes
2. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
3. Yes – read the FAQ please.
August 12, 2020 at 13:21
Hi Brit,
I submitted my DS260 for me, my wife and son late last week. For my Son I selected Document Type as ‘OTHER TRAVEL DOCUMENT’ because his PP is not yet out, Could this lead to disqualification or can I submit a little later?
Kindly advice.
August 12, 2020 at 23:52
That’s OK. Update it as soon as possible.
August 25, 2020 at 15:48
Hi BritSimon,
I now have my Sons Passport, Should I request for KCC to unlock my documents so I can update or I wait until before the Interview/when they request for my documents?
Kindly advice on the best way forward on that.
August 25, 2020 at 23:11
Unlock and correct the DS260
August 15, 2020 at 13:58
Hello brit
I am anna from east africa i am one of dv 2021 selected person with case number of AF16*** .i sumbitted ds260 on juns 12,but didnt receive email from kcc.
I want you to tell you what i decide,i and my faïence planned to get merried the coming october but in the middle this chance happned so we discussed about it and cancle the program because my fience said it might be conciderd as farud marriage though we are real and might cause to lose the chance.we have finished even church pre marriage classes and my question is how long will it takes for 2021 winners to get in us??? #2)are we correct to take this thing serious to cancle our marriage???? 3)does it have any problem if we got cereficate from church???
please replay ,thanks
August 15, 2020 at 16:03
1. It can take around 2 years.
2. No – you would be better getting married before proceeding with your case. You will be asked to prove the relationship was real – but showing that should not be hard using photos, texts etc from before the lottery selection.
3. You need a legal marriage certificate.
August 15, 2020 at 19:36
Thank you for replaying me , when i submit my ds 260 i said i am single, bc when i apply for the lottery from the beigning i said unmarried the fact that we didnt married. What i want to be clear for me is that if i am scheduled for intrview they already know i am unmarries bc my ds 260 says single. So is there any problem to get married while i submit my ds 260 as unmarried?please clarify me this and 2 years look too long so what shall we do? thanks
August 16, 2020 at 13:35
OBVIOUSLY, everyone who gets married was unmarried before they were married. So I answered knowing you were unmarried. Start using a little common sense and re-read what I already replied.
August 25, 2020 at 19:21
It would have been helpful if they let us know if it was disqualified while publishing the lottery results. Next time could rectify the reason. I don’t believe though mine was disqualified. Just unlucky thrice.
So good to know there are people being selected more than once. I am starting to doubt shall I continue to try or not. I am already 35
August 25, 2020 at 23:43
It’s a simple entry form. Just a matter of following instructions.
August 16, 2020 at 07:10
Deat Brit,
I have been selected for DV-2021. I want to confirm my eligibility. Me and my spouse are national of non-eligible country but My spouse born in eligible country and have birth certificate of eligible country. I have applied on spouse born country. Can you please tell me from your experience, am i eligibility for DV visa and further process? Thank you in advance
August 16, 2020 at 14:59
Yes – you should be eligible based on the country of birth of your spouse. Since you charged to your spouse’s country, you should expect that BOTH of you will need to meet the requirements such as education. That means the embassy should treat BOTH of you as principal applicant for eligibility.
August 17, 2020 at 07:32
Thank you for your quick and positive answer. Do visa officer or KCC require us to assess our educational document from US authorized organization who evaluate documents of international education qualifications. Like WES (World Education Services) & others ? Or they require education certificate without any verification as it is.
August 17, 2020 at 13:59
As is normally.
August 17, 2020 at 19:08
Hi so i just finished filling out DS-260 form but i am unable to digitally sign dont know what the issues is. My case number is 2021OC00001304
August 18, 2020 at 02:17
If you are male under 26 you need to click the selective service link.
August 18, 2020 at 23:31
Hi Simon, My DV lottery number for 2021 is OC0000105 and I am currently in the United States. I applied for an extension in December where my visa expired in January. It was still pending when the DV 21 results came out where I found out that my name was selected. I asked for information from an immigration lawyer here in California but was advised to file another extension before end of July because my previous application is still pending and was advised to go home and file with my husband who is not here with me in the US. Is it possible for me to apply for a change of status?..Right now Im not really sure what to so, cases still pending and this travel restrictions I cannot travel. Please advise me on what to do.
August 20, 2020 at 05:04
I do not consider myself an AOS expert – so I will not offer an opinion on whether you can safely attempt AOS or not. Speak to your lawyers, or ask a real expert – Sm1smom at the immigration forum (I will follow up with a link)
August 19, 2020 at 02:39
Hi Simon, I was selected for 2021 for further processing. And I had applied for student visa several times and was denied, so my question is would that be a problem for the interview?…….I mean if there is?
August 20, 2020 at 05:06
It depends why you were denied.
August 20, 2020 at 07:09
Hello, I won with the case number AF89###.
Is there any chance of going for interview ?
August 20, 2020 at 13:48
I don’t know the highest numbers yet, but yours must be close. So – it is too early to be certain – but yes there is a chance your number is too high.
August 21, 2020 at 06:05
hello Brit Simon, my case number is AS26xxx , i have previously overstayed in US and got 10 years banned, but it is already pass since year 2018, will it affect my chances?
August 21, 2020 at 15:01
No
August 23, 2020 at 02:00
Dear Brit,
My number is 2021AS30xxx.
I think it is quite high.
I check the DV Table in past years’ Visa Bulletin
In May’s Visa Bulettin, it shows 12,000
In June & July Visa Bulletin, they shows ‘Current’.
What is the meaning of current?
Does it mean all numbers including high number can be processed?
But it shall be too many numbers from 12,000 until around 35,000?
Thank you
August 23, 2020 at 18:03
Please take a look at my latest videos.
August 24, 2020 at 17:00
Dear Brit,
Have seen your video ??. Thank you.
Out of curiosity, can I ask?
With my no AS30xxx, my country has 317 winners. The country I live & will have interview in has only 40 winners.
Does it help to have better chance?
Thank you.
August 25, 2020 at 04:49
No
August 25, 2020 at 18:44
Hi Brit thanks for giving updates and responses, my question in relation to your video, does it mean that a country with low numbers of selectees have greater chances of interviews and visa issuance if one meet the required educational, work and a very good affidavit of support without any fake documents?
Is it advantageous to include a degree of wassce documents or both?
When is the exact time that interview for 2021 Begin and is it going on throughout in every region?
Is the medical and visa fees the same as the previous years?
Thanks.
August 25, 2020 at 23:17
Low numbers of selectees for a country don’t help people from that country – you are still going to wait for your case number.
https://britsimonsays.com/education-or-work-experience-qualifying-for-the-dv-lottery/
Normally interviews start for the lowest numbers in October but the immigrant ban will cause some delay. Read my recent articles about that.
Fees are the same.
August 26, 2020 at 07:47
Hi Brit, Thanks for all the videos they really to help us. My case number is 98XXX from South Africa. I have filled in the survey as well.
August 26, 2020 at 19:46
Do you really mean 98 THOUSAND range? Or 98 HUNDRED?
August 28, 2020 at 07:37
Hi Britsimon,
I need your advice on below, My Case number is 2021AF89XX. I received the email to submit my supporting documentation on Wednesday, however my Police clearance certificate is in process and will be issued in about a week or two. My questions;
1. Should I wait for the 2 weeks to have the PCC and submit along with all the other docs or Should I submit what I have first and submit the PCC for me and my spouse once I have it?
2. Will delaying submitting the documents, (assuming I wait for the PCC) hurt my case and delay interview scheduling, considering my case number is low?
3. How long is it generally allowed to wait to submit supporting docs after receiving the email from KCC to submit docs?
Kindly advice. Thanks for all the assistance and advice.
August 28, 2020 at 17:51
1. Yes wait. Don’t submit an incomplete set of documents.
2. No
3. There is no limit – some people will delay months.
August 29, 2020 at 13:27
Greetings Brit, please I have a worry
On my birth certificate my Mom has three names which are all surname names on her Identity Card but when I was feeling the form I actually separated the names with her first name being the surname and the other two names as her given names ….I just wish to know if the will be a problem as I separated the names??
August 29, 2020 at 16:43
No problem.
September 3, 2020 at 14:35
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the replues.
My case number is AF42,687. When should I expect an email for further processing? I’m confident that I will be given a visa.
September 3, 2020 at 15:57
It will be months before you would interview, so there is no need to be stressed about providing documents. Be patient.
September 9, 2020 at 15:43
Thank you so much Sir for the Reply.
September 14, 2020 at 23:02
Dear brit ,
I am a 2021 winner and my case number is 2021AF55000.I am asking if there is no problem in sending my suporting documents without recieving the kcc ‘s email ,because there are people with big case numbers who have already sent the documents without geting the email requesting this.
* do you think that sending suporting documents earlier for winners with case numbers above 50k can maximize their chances of being called earlier to sit for an interview once visa bulettin will be current
* If no,on which bases the kcc
administration focus in sending 2ndL for selectee once VB is current?
Regards,
September 15, 2020 at 01:28
there is no advantage of sending documents now.
September 4, 2020 at 09:06
Hello Brit. I submitted my DS-260 on 14th June. My case number is 2021AF13XXX but have not received the email to submit documents yet. . Should I be worried? Do I need to contact the KCC?
September 4, 2020 at 19:04
Patience.
September 4, 2020 at 14:29
Hello Brit…
I submitted my ds-360 already and received confirmation same day ,just after about 20minutes,I wish to know if I can do my police clearance or I should wait to receive an email based on supporting documents first, before doing the police clearance?
September 4, 2020 at 19:07
Depends on your case numeber. If it is a high number, no point in rushing documents.
September 4, 2020 at 14:31
Sorry ds-260
September 5, 2020 at 10:40
Good day Brit,
Thanks for all the help that you have been giving me.
I have just received an email to summit my docs.I have done all my docs but have a little worry on my police certificate.I did my police cert since June 2020,and on the certificate, it is writing that my records have been taken from the year 2000 that is when I turn 17 to June 2020.Now my question is ,
1 – am i suppose to include the month July,August and September 2020? since I have not included them on the cert, and I have to summit it this week.
2- should I make a new Certificate and make the records from the time that I turned 16,that is 1999?
Thanks
September 5, 2020 at 14:14
I don’t think you need to worry about this – but use your own judgement.
September 10, 2020 at 14:45
I submitted the DS-260 of me, my husband and son, and I signed each of them with the passport number of the form’s owner, which mean 3 different passport numbers, is that correct ? I’m wondering if I had to sign 3 of them with my passport number as I’m the applicant.
September 10, 2020 at 23:28
That’s fine.
September 10, 2020 at 20:16
Dear Brit Simon,
I am a citizen of two countries but I have not lived in a second country, I have been there for five to ten days I have to send the KCC a police clearance certificate 2 countries or only one. and My Case number is 2021EU18xxx It’s high.
Thank you.
September 10, 2020 at 23:58
Read the instructions please.
September 14, 2020 at 10:55
I just wanna ask
I’m in somalia so when I filled my Ds260
I chose the embassy of Djibouti
So after the the interview when I pay the $220
I know they will be sending the visa but where
1. Should I stay in the country of embassy and provide an a new adress to receive visa.
2.or should I go back to my country and wait at the adress that I provided in my application.
September 14, 2020 at 14:43
The visa is stamped in your passport after you are approved. Then you move to the USA, and the Greencard is sent to a USA address as listed in the DS260.
September 16, 2020 at 08:08
You mean I will get my passport with visa in the embassy
September 16, 2020 at 20:10
Yes
September 17, 2020 at 10:31
How many days usually between when they schedule my interview and the interview day?
September 17, 2020 at 10:43
About 2 months
September 17, 2020 at 19:25
Normally around 6+ weeks. So – interviews in January would get 2NL emails in November.
September 18, 2020 at 07:32
Hello Brit ,On my ds-260 form
i indicated an embassy of my country where to conduct interviews, but later i came to know that my country Embassy has no right to interview Immigrants, that i should go to another county to do interview in case i am selected (Nairobi Kenya) will that affect my
application or i write to KCC to change the Embassy,
September 18, 2020 at 18:04
They will choose the embassy for you, regardless of what you selected in the DS260, based on your current address.
September 18, 2020 at 18:30
Hello Brit..
Just wanted to ask that to make a police clearance is it made at your place of birth or is it made based on current address?
September 19, 2020 at 00:40
