And the final VB of DV2016 has now been released. All regions and all countries are current. This is happy news for everyone – and very exciting to see a year where every number has gone current. We have seen some toughern years where high case numbers missed out, meaning literally thousands of people who were selected waited patiently only to finally realize their waiting was for nothing. I’m glad that did not happen this year, and I am certain DV2017 will be a good year also…
I hope my website helped some people this year, I will continue to help as much as I can. Some of you may not know that I got my Green Card through this program so this website is a way for me to pass on that good fortune, and hopefully help some people to avoid making silly mistakes that would cost them the Green Card!
Congratulations to all DV2016 winners – and the next visa bulletin will be the first notification for DV2017!
July 18, 2016 at 14:52
thnx brit for de quick reply

July 18, 2016 at 15:22

July 18, 2016 at 14:12
hi brit
i n my husband had our interview on 15 of dis month but due to the fact his medical result was not available the co collected all our docs including my passport but refunded his passport dat he shld bring back de passport wit his medical result when it is ready but de problem here is de hospital said his result wil be ready in abt 7weeks time bcuz of further tests dey need to carryout.wil dis not b a problem ? wat if it does not cam out in time will it affect me considering de fact dat am de main applicant ?
July 18, 2016 at 14:36
It is possible to issue your visa without a derivative. Obviously his cannot be processed without the medical, and if he misses the September 30 deadline he will not get a DV lottery Green Card. You would be able to sponsor him later, once you are living in the USA.
July 18, 2016 at 13:32

July 18, 2016 at 14:37
Follow their instruction. Why did you not provide the police cert already, as described in the instructions?
July 17, 2016 at 21:07
or i’ii go in administrative processing?
July 17, 2016 at 21:00
hi mr brit
said the doctor adopted in morroco that necessary vaccinations are unavailable to him .
you affect me getting a visa?
July 17, 2016 at 22:38
It is up to the doctor as to whether that will hold back your case.
July 17, 2016 at 08:56
Hi brit
My interview is in 4 days, I have dropped off my documents personally at the US embassy. Although the form i134 was with the documents, The lady there told me that they don’t need the affidavit of support becoz I have enough money in the bank account.
Is that normal ?
Should I take the affidavit of support with me to the interview ?
Thank u
July 17, 2016 at 22:49
Is there any reason to NOT take the I-134???
July 17, 2016 at 07:47
Dear Simon,
I tried and couldnt find a sponsor and so I have my statement with 8K USD, do you know of anyone who got his visa with a bank statement lower than 10K USD?
Thanks
July 17, 2016 at 22:52
Yes, some embassies will allow that.
July 17, 2016 at 04:05
Dear Simon,
I am DV winner and I arrived USA last week and I paid $165 for me and my family to process the green card. My question is that A-number and DOS ID number on my visa are mandatory to fill out the form?
Are these two are enough without applicant’s information like Name, Date of birth, Nationality, etc ? Can they get all necessary information from their website or DS260 because the form only asks A-number and DOS ID Number?
July 17, 2016 at 02:17
Hello Mr Brit,
Just wana be sure about something to avoid silly mistakes, I am sending my documents on Monday. When I put all my documents in the envelope should I write my name and case number on the back of the envelope or what do you suggest me to write? Your response will be highly appreciated.
Thanks ??
July 17, 2016 at 22:55
Sure – write the case number.
July 16, 2016 at 20:33
Dear brit, good job. I want to know your opinion? .last week ABD embassy has cleared 29 cases out of 51 cases(who I know ) they interviewd in april and may .while there are still 99 cases from january to march who are in AP. it is very important to say ONLY AND ONLY 2 CASES OUT OF 100 CASES who have interviewd from january to march in ABD are cleared till now. Is it any problem? What is happening to this cases? I am very worried ad stressed out
July 16, 2016 at 20:35
The numbers are not exact but very clse to exact
July 16, 2016 at 21:05
Not all cases go to AP – so you are only looking at those cases in AP. Some cases in AP take months. It is the same each year – there is nothing the selectees can do apart from preparing as well as they can and hope to avoid AP.
July 16, 2016 at 18:14
Hi brit how are you , if i have a sponsor does i need any extra money in the bank balance to show at the interview , thank you
July 16, 2016 at 19:48
A sponsor (filling an I-134) is normally all you need.
July 17, 2016 at 09:01
I said that because i am from tirana albania and you have said me that is not a correct embassy , i i have got my sponsor i134 and other documents from him today , my interview hope will be in october like you said me an other time. Does this thing disqualified me because my sponsor documents are 3 months earlier . Thank you
July 17, 2016 at 22:49
Get the I-134 later.
July 16, 2016 at 17:31

July 16, 2016 at 19:50
I don’t understand what form you are filling out….
July 16, 2016 at 09:44
hey….brit.
it is nice to hear about every number has gone current. i am just curious that dv 2016 selectees was 10,000 morethan 2017. which means 94,000 selectees was notified. you also said that every case numbers has gonne current. considering only 50,000 visas are available, does these mean many cases (94,000-50,000=44,000)44,000 was failed after they recieve there 2nd NLS???
July 16, 2016 at 13:33
Many decided not to process the win, some were denied.
July 16, 2016 at 07:30
Hi simon, please send me your email address, I have personly thing to discuss with you.

Hi brit,
A question crossed my mind.
If a person works for the military in his country of origin, does that decrease his chances to be approved for the DV ?
And what if he is a civilian who work in a contract with the army of his country ?
Thank u
July 16, 2016 at 00:28
That depends on the country/situation – I cannot generalize.
July 16, 2016 at 00:32
Actually I am asking for a friend who works as a civilian surgeon in a private contract wit the Jordanian army ???
Do u have any clues ?
Thanx again
July 16, 2016 at 02:14
I don’t have any experience of that.
July 16, 2016 at 05:27
Ok thank u
July 15, 2016 at 18:14
Hello dear Brit,
I have my interview on 2 August, the embassy here in Turkey wants us to send documents 15 days prior to the interview which is next Monday in my case. Before sending my documents I have to register with the postal service and this is not possible because my case is still in transit. Do you think I should send the documents on that Monday without the receipt of the postal service which is requires and present it on the interview day or I should wait till it comes out before sending documents to the embassy. I wrote to the embassy but they seem to take an eternity to reply.
Thanks
July 15, 2016 at 19:04
You can register with the courier service now. You just have to choose different options…
Otherwise – send your documents on time.
July 15, 2016 at 20:07
I tried several times but it sends me an error message that my case is not ready to schedule an appointment.
July 15, 2016 at 20:19
That won’t change – even when the case is not in transit. So – choose a different option for the type of visa so the system doesn’t think it needs to schedule an interview.
July 15, 2016 at 05:36
Hi Brit,
Many thanks for your continued help.
Do you know the consequences of attending the interview without the medical results of the principal applicant. For example if the interview is scheduled at the end of this month(July) but the medical results will be released at the end of August.
Kind regards,
M.
July 15, 2016 at 05:51
That causes AP. Once the medical report is available they can restart the case. However, it can cause delays even after the report is provided, particularly if the case is delayed into the following month.
July 15, 2016 at 11:16
Hi Simon,
{First a minute of silence to the French people and humanity in general}. I am also concerned here,my beneficiary’s (spouse) medical results will be released on 1st September 2016 while our interview is early Aug-will it delay like you have said maybe till the end of Sept or it will take some few days? Hope we wont miss the visa! Thanks a lot.
July 15, 2016 at 14:11
It’s going to be a nervous time. I suspect it will be late September before you hear good news.
July 14, 2016 at 21:24
Hi sir. Interview is August 8, 2016 can we do the medical one week before the interview.
July 14, 2016 at 21:35
Possibly. That depends on how quickly the physician can create the report. Ask the physician.
July 14, 2016 at 21:18
May the almighty God bless you sir. My wife and I are schedule for next month interview and she is the principal applicant. Just in case we don’t show up or fail the interview. Can I play the 2018 dv lottery. Will the embassy or kcc keep record of me since am just the beneficiary.
July 14, 2016 at 21:24
You can re-enter future lotteries. Your details have been submitted on the DS260. They retain that information.
July 14, 2016 at 12:06
Hi Brits i went for my interview today at the Freetown office but i was afraid because of the mistake on my date of birth on the original entry but base on your advice I went through only three question wee ask 1. Is your masters qualification your highest qualification I said yes. 2.we’re do you plan to stay in the USA answer Maryland .3.what type of job are you going to do in the USA answer in job for a start but later want to study for CPA and become a public accountant. Congrate collect your visa in two weeks time . Thanks Brits you are DV consultant any body that pass through you with genuine question will always succeeds. Praise be to the Almighty Allah
July 14, 2016 at 14:04
Great! Don’t celebrate too hard until the visa is in your hands!
July 14, 2016 at 15:14

i will be living in maryland too
July 14, 2016 at 03:11
Thanks for your blog. Keep up the great work
July 13, 2016 at 15:08
Many thanx for everything. Your website was very helpful for me
July 13, 2016 at 13:23
Hi Mr Simon. Our interview was on Julyy1st. We went to our interview without medical exams. I know we will be put on ap and we were put on AP. Today we submitted our medicals. Now my concern is AP will bw resolved within 60 days. Do you think there will be enpugh visas until Sept? We are familt of 4 and from ROA.
July 13, 2016 at 13:39
There are enough visas.
July 13, 2016 at 10:50
Secondly Brit, I have picked this from my local embassy website
For Immigrant Visas, the beneficiary should fill out the DS-260 online form at the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) and the petitioner should fill out the I-864 Affidavit of Support form. Starting in the 2015 Diversity Visa (DV) season, all DV applicants will be required to fill out the DS-260. Note that the I-864 requirement does not apply to DV cases.
I have also read somewhere that affidavit of support is almost mandatory in all cases; should I arrange for one to be on the safer side OR should I take the embassy’s word for it and do nothing?
Thanks
July 13, 2016 at 13:43
They say you cannot use the I-864 for DV. They are NOT saying you cannot use the I-134

July 13, 2016 at 09:42
What a great news and year!!
Hope next year would bee same!!
I have a question for you.
While submitting my education info I had to write my ‘attendance from’ date and ‘attendance to’ date. I don’t have documentary evidence of starting date of my schooling in all of my degrees. So i wrote best probable schooling date in my ds 260 form but from my transcripts and character certificates I have my official completion date.
In my bachelors degree, my admission date is Oct 2007 and my class starting date is Jan 2008. In my character certificate it is written that I was student from 2008 (month and year mentioned in native calender) to 2011. So in ds 260 I wrote Jan 2008 to Dec 2011 as my starting date and completion year.
Since I was admitted in 2007 I am student of 2007 batch in my college. So I think I should correct my educational info in my ds 260 form. Should I unlock it.
My case no. is 2017AS 70**.
July 13, 2016 at 13:44
Get the form as accurate as possible, but it does not need to be precise to the day.
July 13, 2016 at 08:46
hey there Brit,, hope everything goes well for you and your dear family,,we always be thankful for your job… I’m from Iran and I wonder how many visas left for Asia and Iran. Since you don’t publish any ceac data anymore.. I want to know if there are enough visas left for Iranian who stuck in administrative process? do you have any idea?
July 13, 2016 at 13:45
There are enough visas.
July 13, 2016 at 08:32
Hey brit , do you have any idea when 2017 winner 2nl will start . Thank you for helping all of us .
July 13, 2016 at 13:45
End of August.
July 13, 2016 at 06:14
Hi Brit.
I just discovered that my mothers name as they appear on my birth certificate and how they appear on her passport (she is currently living in USA) are different. Here is the scenario, My mother is called Jane Mary Uti on my birth certificate. My dad is Ken Mark Otoo. My Mothers passport bears Jane Mary Otoo. Uti was her dads surname that she dropped and adopted my dads surname. Could you please help me on how to capture her names on DS-260? Which one goes for her Surname at birth and Given Names?
Thanks
July 13, 2016 at 13:48
Her name is Otoo. Her surname at birth was Uti. Her given names are Jane and Mary (Mary being the middle name)
July 13, 2016 at 05:01
Congrats for everyone. Good Luck
I would like to thank you Simon for all your help and guidance… God bless you all.
July 13, 2016 at 04:18

July 13, 2016 at 05:05
Best of luck!
July 12, 2016 at 20:54
Hello again Simon, I am slotted for an interview on 1 August. I am a bit confused about the 1-864 form, am I supposed to fill it? Is it a must that I get a sponser or can I go to the interview without filling this form?
July 12, 2016 at 21:11
just read the difference between 1-864 and 1-134, so please ignore my earlier message. What I would like to know is it too late to ask friends in the US to fill in 1-134 form since my interview is on 1 August and that it takes about three weeks for letters to arrive from abroad
July 13, 2016 at 05:06
Better hurry up then.
July 19, 2016 at 20:11
Hello again, the person who had said they would help me fill up the 1-134 form has said that her salary can only support herself and her son. My question is can she still fill in the form or will it affect my my chances? Is it a must to have an affidavit of suport or what can I show to prove that I will not be a public charge appart from the 1-864 and 1-134 forms.

Hi Simon
Thank You, my interview was on March 3rd (Srilanka) due to lack of sponsor my case was dragged to July. Today one sponsor agreed to help me. He said he will confirm me by next week. Just in case if he says ok and I receive all the documents from him by end of this month. Do I still have a chance simon at Srilanka embassy for a visa by august first week? Or is it too late for me
July 13, 2016 at 05:07
You might be OK – try.
July 12, 2016 at 19:48
Hi , I am from Iran , AMIN .
Do you think that in most cases the Iranians had long clearance visa or visa was issued thy days may be little left for us to come? My case number is about 5650
July 13, 2016 at 05:07
I don’t know. You simply have to try…
July 12, 2016 at 18:40
All thanks and praise to almighty God and
Thanks a lot Simon for your great support throughout the year. You sacrificed your precious time to share your knowledge with millions to help us survive the anxiety and worries. Indeed you are my hero. God bless you and your family abundantly.
My interview is on 10th of August and want to ask if I want to stay with other relative other than the host that I filled in ds 260 when is the appropriate time to change.
2ndly for the police report if I have been in other country then do I have to bring to interview police clearance from the 2countries ie my home country and the country where I have been working for last 3years.
And if I book medical appointment on 2nd and my interview is on 10th will that be okay or should be earlier .
Thanks again for your time.
July 13, 2016 at 05:09
You can change addresses at the interview.
Yes you may need other police certs – check the dvselectee instructions carefully.
I don’t know how much time the medical needs – ask the doctor.
July 13, 2016 at 08:33
Sir,
Does the address mentioned in the DS means necessarily that someone has to live there (I mean, isn’t someone free to live wherever he wants in the US?). can’t someone change after the place he wants to live
Thank you
July 13, 2016 at 13:45
You can live wherever you want.
July 12, 2016 at 13:07
Congrats for everyone
I would like to thank you Simon for all your help and guidance… God bless you all
July 12, 2016 at 11:57
Thanks a lot for support my Dear
I have one question , i am sending emails for the police and medical check to US embassy in Riyadh but i get no reply , what seems to be the problem and what i can do ….?
July 12, 2016 at 13:53
I don’t understand why you are emailing the embassy. You arrange the medicals and you obtain the police reports.
July 12, 2016 at 15:31
Here in Riyadh in KSA you should get letter from embassy addressed to police to and medical center to do the checkup ,as per my understanding , please if you other info let me know, thanks
July 12, 2016 at 16:52
OK – so keep trying then. I don’t know those embassy specifics.
July 12, 2016 at 10:23
Hello Simon !
My wife was a winner Dv 2015 and we received our GC . In this year 2016 she wants a divorce.

July 12, 2016 at 14:08

My lil bro is a winner too but filling his DS260 form he put my adresse as permanent adresse but i’m not his sponsor. Can this cause a problem?

It would be fine to be a few weeks old….
July 12, 2016 at 00:56
Thank you so much for your help walking us through the whole process and all the information which is so helpful to everyone. I just wonder about what does CURRENT mean? Does it really mean we are having a really great chance to receive our greencard if nothing goes wrong with an interview? I am AS9xxx and just did biometrics process but I am so worried about it will not be in time for September interview. Thank you very much
July 12, 2016 at 01:07
Current means there are enough Green Cards for all remaining demand.
July 13, 2016 at 13:38
Very good to hear but the whole process including interview has to be before September 30st,2016, correct? If we don’t get an interview by then that means we are not getting our green card.
July 13, 2016 at 13:51
Correct.
July 12, 2016 at 00:53
Thanks for all of the service you have patiently provided this year Simon. My family was selected in the lottery and after a lot of soul searching, research and discussion decided that it was just the wrong time for us. Our children are near college age and we are close enough to retirement to worry that we have made our provisions based on a welfare state and universal healthcare and we would be going backwards to go to the US (we live in Australia). Still, it will always feel like we missed out on a great time! I am glad that all numbers went current so that many people were able to get the opportunity.
July 12, 2016 at 01:00
I’m sorry you didn’t go for it. Since I am the wrong side of 50 I can understand your thought process…..
July 12, 2016 at 00:50
Thank you so very much for all your hard work. I got my green card last December and I’m living my American Dream now. I’m so grateful and thankful for all your information and patience will all our questions. I’ll be forever thankful!!!!
