The first Visa bulletin for the DV2022 processing year has been released. It is the VB for October interviews. The numbers are low, and that is not a surprise, it’s pretty normal. Theoretically, cases below these numbers in each region (or country where it says “except), would be scheduled for interview. BUT in order to be scheduled your DS260 AND documents must have been processed by KCC. Because KCC have been focused on DV2021 processing, I suspect that not many cases would actually be ready for scheduling. So – if your case number is UNDER these numbers, that means your case is “current” but will only be scheduled if you are “ready for scheduling” (also known as “DQ” or “Documentarily Qualified”). If your case becomes DQ at a later date then you would be scheduled in the next available month after being DQ (subject to the embassy having capacity).
To be clear, I expect very few interviews to be arranged in October. October to December is generally slow each year, but this year will be slower than normal. The embassies are still working under the tiered priority system that is being fought in court right now. While it is in place though it means that the embassies will not accept a normal level of DV cases, and KCC will therefore hold back some cases even if those cases are DQ and current. This is the behavior that we are fighting right now in front of Judge Mehta, and if needed, there will be lawsuits for DV2022!
Regarding DV2021, I said in a video a couple of days ago that DV2021 interviews were almost over, because there were signs that the government was “moving on” to DV2022. This VB is further evidence of that, so it seems likely that we have only a small chance of getting further interviews, although I would NOT be surprised to see a few more interviews sent over the next few days. But we are obviously close to the end, and then the remaining hope lies with the lawsuit.
People will now lose their minds trying to predict the final numbers or find a year to compare these numbers to in order to predict whether they are safe to get an interview. Let me say, as I have said many times before, IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT. You can’t take these numbers and assume each month will increase by that number. If you don’t understand why not, well there is plenty of time for you to learn about the draw process, holes, and the limited countries that cause reducing density.
Those that are current, and have forms processed and documents early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches. I would expect all the October interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

What are the required supporting documents send to kcc?
October 30, 2021 at 15:04
Dear Britsimon,
In what manner kcc orders to email for sending supporting documents for DV 2022 lottery winner.
Early filling ds-260 form have an implication for receiving an email for sending supporting documents in this year?
Kind regards,

Thanks for all you are doing for us…

Hi Mr.Brit, i will want to use this forum to thank you for your endless support for all immigrants to the United States especially DV lottery category.Am already leaving in the United Stated thanks to your Guidance through this forum when i was processing as a one time DV lottery selectee couple of years back. I really do appreciate it.May the good lord guid and inspire you more. Now, i have a quick question for you.; i filled for my wife and daughter at the USCIS and is really taking too long for the processing. As a matter of fact, am so much concern with her education as i need her to joint me as soon as possible to further her studies here in the states. So, i want to enroll her in a school here and then apply for a student visa for her. My question now is; does it pose any problem with her filled case at USCIS and applying a STUDENT visa for her while waiting for USCIS approval? I will equally appreciate any other proposal you may propose to me as regarding my wife and daughter pending case. Thanks for your kind attention.
September 9, 2021 at 03:20
The application for the student visa is likely to be affected by the existing immigrant visa application.

August 21, 2021 at 05:39
Hi Simon,
Firstly thank you for your very valuable (free) content, it’s extremely helpful.
I am in Australia (Oceania region). I won DV 2022.
I met with an immigration lawyer online & was told my case number of ‘00001838’ could be considered high & possibly wouldn’t be reached?! But, after watching your DV2022 number analysis video, it seems like while it’s not low, looking at the derivative numbers, the predicted hole rates of the Oceania region (56%) it’s probably actually more around 1000 of a predicted 1450 cases that “could” be accepted?! I am aware it’s not set data, but I am trying to get a feel for whether we’re still within a shot or not? I fee like we are still despite what the lawyer said?! Any insight would be greatly appreciated mate!
August 21, 2021 at 20:14
You have a shot. Ignore the lawyer (and don’t pay for a lawyer for goodness sake!).
The biggest concern is not your number, it’s lockdowns and the prioritization of cases.
August 25, 2021 at 01:19
Thank you for your response Simon.
Good! I thought the same.
The reason why we seeked out the immigration lawyer was were getting more clarity around qualifying via work experience (not higher school certificate). It seems like I can, do you know when it comes to this:
As it states on travel.state.gov website regarding – Work Experience: “If you are qualifying with work experience, you must have two years of experience in the last five years, in an occupation which, by U.S. Department of Labor definitions, requires at least two years of training or experience that is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) rating of 7.0 or higher.”
My work experience qualifies under these conditions on both job zone & rating. Do you know if this has too be met by the time you applied for the DV lottery or at the time of the final interview?!
August 28, 2021 at 03:20
As of the interview.
August 19, 2021 at 11:34
HI SIR , i am DV 2022 winner i am from Sri lanka my case number was AS8kkk , i ahve 2 question please ,

02 ) when do you think my interview date will booked ?
August 20, 2021 at 04:02
1. Send them
2. I don’t know.

Hi Simon,
I am DV 2022 winner, when we will fill ds 260, my wife was pregnant and I put the number of children section 0, but after my baby was born, I added him in the ds -260. my question is, shall I ask kcc to unlock my and wife’s ds 260 form to update the number of children section into 1.
August 19, 2021 at 22:15
Yes
August 17, 2021 at 04:30
Hello, im 2021 DV winner. I have sent all my documents to KCC in November 5, 2021, and when the KCC failed to respond whether documentarily qualified or not, I have emailed to them and I got the following message from KCC;
“Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center”.
1. Does it mean I’m documentarily qualified ?
Thank you
August 19, 2021 at 22:00
Yes
August 17, 2021 at 02:30
Hi Simon,
I think I already know the answer to this (a bitter pill to swallow) but thought I would pick your brain anyway.
Australian DV2021 applicant here. Had my visa interview scheduled for July 13th 2021 at the US consulate here in Sydney. Got my medical done and sent through, have prepared all my documents, however it was cancelled a couple of weeks beforehand due to the outbreak of the Delta variant and I was told they would contact me to reschedule a new appointment.
I have contacted them for an official response but with your wealth of knowledge about this process, do you anticipate any scenario where if they’re unable to reschedule a new apt before Sep 30, I still have a chance of an interview/receiving a visa after that date.
Cheers & thanks for all that you do.
CC
August 19, 2021 at 21:55
I think there is a strong chance that we will get some sort of preservation of visas after September 30th. The DV2020 Gomez case has established that option as a precedent last September, and just in the last couple of days we now see that the Judge is ordering the government to issue the preserved visas. So – no guarantees, but its a chance.
August 16, 2021 at 22:02
This is why we need a Libertarian government. Not Democrat. Not Republican. The Libertarian Party is all about how you want to live as long as you do not cause problems to others, and let others live their lives as they want as long as they don’t cause problems in your life. The Libertarian Party is pro immigration.
August 19, 2021 at 17:57
Yeah, but unfortunately the Libertarian Party keep fielding awful candidates.
August 16, 2021 at 16:56
Hi Brit Simon,
There is currently a major backlog in the issuance of police clearance certs in South Africa. It’s taking 2-3 months. With a relatively low case number AF202211XXX do you suggest I submit my documents with proof of application for the Police clearance together with a letter explaining that I have applied and that there is a backlog and save this in a pdf labeled Police clearance and then resend once received. I know of someone in the DV21 program that did this and within a week she got ready for scheduling and today was issued her visa.
Your thoughts herein are appreciated.
Kind regards,
Charlene.
August 19, 2021 at 09:30
I am in kinda the same boat! Our South African police clearance in the only document we are still waiting for and the backlog is insane. Should take 6 weeks max and they are now taking 3 months plus. Only difference is I have a higher case number, so I have time to wait. Would really like to know if we can do as you described above. Good luck!
August 19, 2021 at 12:30
l am also in the same boat but my case number is 2022 AF6XXX;its been over 2 months and l still haven’t South African received my police clearance; would also like to know if we can do what Charlene stated above.
August 19, 2021 at 17:42
I would not suggest that. Your choice.
August 16, 2021 at 14:43
Hi Brit,
– My spouse name in child’s Birth certificate (BC) appears as “(traditional name)+(Last name)+(first name)”
– But my spouse name appears in her passport as “(Last name)+(first name)” – without traditional name.
1) Hence due to character limitation (limited space), I mentioned Mother’s name at birth as “(first name)+ (Last name)” in DS260 of my CHILD – without traditional name
Is it OK to include the mother’s name as in her passport instead name in BC of my Child?
2) Do I need to unlock and correct the above (Mother’s name as in BC)?
3) In case to correct, how can I insert the full name with character limitation?
Please note, In my spouse’s DS260,
– I inserted her name as appear in the passport “(Last name)+ (first name)” – without traditional name.
– also I inserted the “(traditional name)+(Last name)+(first name)” – in OTHER NAMES section.
August 16, 2021 at 11:11
hello ,
I am a DV2022 selected and submitted my DS260 in June 2021 and unblocked it for correct some information and re submitted in 14 august 2021 . My case number is 2022AS4XXX. my question is I haven’t received a request from KCC to submit the docs yet. Should I submit them anyway or should I wait?
Thanks for the help.
August 18, 2021 at 02:17
Send them.
August 16, 2021 at 10:20
Brit,
As DV2021 interview in My country is cancelled can I change my interview location is it possible ?
Thank you
August 18, 2021 at 02:16
There is very little time and most embassies are refusing to accept additional cases. But you can try.
August 16, 2021 at 00:57

Yes
August 15, 2021 at 12:56
Hello, if judge mehta changes the tier priority making dv visas number one… what kind of effect would it have? would more case numbers become current by any chance… and why is it bad making all regions current… why is that system even in place?
August 15, 2021 at 21:20
All case numbers are already current for DV2021, so “more” is not possible. Cases are supposed to be processed by rank order. Making the regions current confused that principle and gave the impression to many people that they could get interviews – which, frankly, was cruel.
AS for Judge Mehta, I will not try and predict his decision.
August 16, 2021 at 14:11
i am a dv2022 winner so i was wondering about what to expect since i have a high CN… i know there all current now(2021). I know u cant make predictions cuz it can get dangerous which is responsible of u. but i wasnt asking on ur predictions rather the consequences of dv visas becoming number 1 in the priority list in a hypotetical world ofcourse… from ur expeirience in the subject . Not really Mehtas decision which nobady can predict
August 18, 2021 at 02:22
No predictions means for everything. I don’t know what will happen…
August 16, 2021 at 14:15
And yes… false hope can be devastating… im john doe btw 🙂
August 16, 2021 at 14:44
sorry for commenting a lot…its bc high cases like mine 2022AF24k are in a significant disadvantage specially these days which u wouldnt think is high but 23k through 80k are more or less same as we can see on the dv2021 savediversity graph and i was wondering if there could be any fix for it… or is it because that range has a less density of selectees in comparison to 0-23k which results in less scheduling
August 19, 2021 at 17:39
Stop obsessing about your number. Your number is not high.
August 15, 2021 at 08:44
Dear Simon, My case number is 2022AS5K
1-I have sent the documents to the KCC but it turns out that some of the documents are not clear and some are not complete, can I send them again correctly, will there be a problem?
2-Then when a date will be held on the first number we are celebrated for October 2022
August 15, 2021 at 19:43
Dear simon, my case NO is :AF49***
I have tried many times to open an application that will not open for me once it has been opened
Personal information and address information when I wrote it closed
Then I couldn’t open it and time was running out when I talked to him
They say contact the embassy when the embassy is contacted
say kcc contact then try to open this way
Application method if password can be changed something like that come to me
send unlocking techniques
When I send Email to the embassy to solve the problem, Their response is that there are a large number of Customer and that they will respond, so please help open the form again, because there is not enough time for DV vasical year of 2021
August 15, 2021 at 20:32
1. No
2. First few interviews will happen in October.
August 15, 2021 at 08:28
Hi Brit,
I am a DV2022 selectee and submitted my DS260 in May 2021. My case number is 2022EU39XX. I haven’t received a request from KCC to submitt the docs yet. Should I submitt them anyway or should I wait?
Thanks for the help.
August 15, 2021 at 20:31
Send them.
August 15, 2021 at 03:12
Hi brit,
im dv22 winner,
1. What if I received document request email from KCC, after submitting the document?
2. What is worst thing can happen (any issue, like they ignore to process my application-ds260)?
August 15, 2021 at 20:30
Sending again won’t generally cause problems.
August 15, 2021 at 01:25
what about dv winner 2020 ? pls
August 15, 2021 at 20:28
Waiting for the Judge.
September 12, 2021 at 23:40
Hello Brit, Here I have one question During original entry I fill MSC degree (on study) but,not completed, when I fill ds 260 I fill university degree is there a problem.thank you your support.
September 17, 2021 at 00:12
No problem.
August 14, 2021 at 19:11
Sir Brit Simon;
I submitted my DS-260 on 18-06-2022.
is that late?
August 14, 2021 at 18:08
Hello britsimon, can a person get DQ before his/her CN is current
August 14, 2021 at 18:24
Yes
August 15, 2021 at 12:45
Also is there any chance for selectees if the lawsuits fail for dv2021? there is an amendment that passed that isn’t law yet correct? so rather than telling ppl to basically give up if they havent sent docs or received there 2nl or arent in the lawsuits by now … which could lead them giving up on the subject and missing the opportunity of the amendment that grants relief for dv2020 and dv2021 if passed.+ I think the more ppl know about this amendment the better chances it will pass through pressure. Im a dv2022 selectee btw… hoping things get better for everyone
August 15, 2021 at 21:16
I have discussed the Meng amendments, but they don’t have a good chance of becoming law. I would rather not give people false hope.
August 16, 2021 at 14:31
so sad whats being done to dv2020 and dv 2021 selectees. the losers of those years were winners kinda…for most atleast they better of compared to families waiting and hoping for years for something that wont come after seeing there mindblowing letter that says they were selected out of the millions of ppl around the globe for a better life… which isnt a garuntee but most ppl see it that way i think… very sad
August 14, 2021 at 01:37
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your valuable support.
Can KCC send DV2021 2nls over the weekend during this unprecedented times?
Thanks once again.
August 14, 2021 at 17:17
Probably not. They are not trying to be heroic.
August 13, 2021 at 22:42
Hi Brit, Are DS260 processed based on the case number or submission date?
I am talking about DS260 not visa issuance.
August 14, 2021 at 16:20
Both. Case number order, but obviously only those that are submitted.
August 13, 2021 at 20:18
Hi Brit, looking at how slow Dv2022 process has just started do u think 2022AF44***k can be current before the end of the fesical year.
August 14, 2021 at 16:18

Thanks sir, I’m really excited about this, but I wanted you to pls give me a little light in your own view looking at the current VB for 2022, when do you think a case # of 2022AF41**** will be current?
August 13, 2021 at 19:29
Hi Simon , my case number is 2022AF37xxx my husband is the main applicant we are currently in US on h1b visa my husband’ s visa will expire next feb and we already submitted ds260 in June for AOS . If the 60 day grace period ended before we apply for the AOS is applying for H1b or J1 visa with new employer to maintain a legal status here will be a problem since we already submit DS 260 ? And if there is no chance to renew or get a new visa and we have to leave the country and go for CP should we inform KCC from now and send the documents and not to wait until next February?
Thanks in advance

The DS260 won’t affect the H1 because the H1 is a “dual intent” visa. As for timing, I can’t guess what will happen.

I have no predictions – especially when you don’t make the case number range clear.

Hi Brit!
2021EU28xx. Is there any hope (behind the deadline 30 september) for people who are DQ (ready for scheduling), but not part of the lawsuit?
Can the judge take a decision also for us?
Thanks in advance!
August 14, 2021 at 16:11
We have to wait for the Judge.

Mr . Brit;
My number is AF23K from Egypt
based on your previous video, my case number is less than the half of the expected number of AF (40K)
But after this low numbers for Egypt, do you expect that, my chance is difficult?
especially that Cairo embassy is the slowly and the worst one

The problem at the moment is about limited capacity and low priority for DV cases. So – no predictions, wait and see.

Yep, I know someone from Spain who got his 2NL today. In other news, I expect the exact same fate for 2022 and possibly 2023.
