The visa bulletin for October interviews has been released – this being the first for DV2025. The numbers are pretty generous given the assumed case number ranges from the survey, however, we should not make the mistake (as many will) that this means we can calculate the final cutoff as 12 x these numbers. The visa bulletin doesn’t work like that. The numbers are increased (or not increased) based on visa availability, embassy capacity, and a little touch of chaos added in sometimes).
This visa bulletin also has the DV2025 selectee numbers. It looks like we have another overselected year at 131K, but I will be taking a closer look and publishing some analysis asap.
Best of luck to DV2025!!
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.

August 22, 2024 at 15:05
You seem to be saying your number is in the AF79000 range -in which case that will be a long time before we can assume whether it will become current or not
August 21, 2024 at 01:42
Hello, is the any change that a low case number might be missed and never receive 2NL? Some people said this happened last time. I am dv2025 winner, case number EU4***. I’ve submitted DS260 in late May. Thank you.
August 21, 2024 at 08:56
Yes that has happened, but it is not common.
August 20, 2024 at 10:42

Please am dv lottery winner 2025AF0000265*from Ghana send my ds260 in June please when am I likely to get my 2NLs thanks
August 20, 2024 at 11:52
Maybe this month, maybe a bit later. It depends on the processing of your DS260 and the performance of your embassy.
August 19, 2024 at 23:27
Hi Simon I am from Oceania – Fiji DVA 2025 winner is 692 a safe number for me

Hey Simon, my case number is EU36xx. I’ve submitted the DS260 form in early May, but I reopened it and added my newly wedded spouse in July. Should I expect this reopening to delay my interview, and if so, could you please provide a rough estimate of the delay? Thank you.
August 19, 2024 at 09:42
A small delay doesn’t matter. Relax and be patient.
August 19, 2024 at 04:52

August 13, 2024 at 18:04
You might get an October interview – but only if your DS260 is processed
August 12, 2024 at 02:57

August 11, 2024 at 09:26
My Case number is 38XXX from Dar es Salaam,Tanzania…Submitted my 260 in June this year. The friend of mine selected for Dv with the DV ending this Sept has not received 2nl and her case number was 40XXX….Should I keep DRS as my location for interview, or I should change my location to Nairobi. What are the procedures for changing a location
August 11, 2024 at 10:26
Changing to NRB may be advantageous, but that means moving there and updating your address.
August 11, 2024 at 05:05
Hi ya Simon, great website / knowledge base you have here. We’re in the dv25 with a case number OC3xxx with Auckland embassy. Not holding out much hope to be honest but do find the whole process rather interesting. What are your thoughts about Auckland embassy by the way? It’s numbers don’t make great reading. Do you think OC may go current for ’25!!! Obviously it has in the past more than a few times, I reckon we’ re due for it soon 🤞😁. Also, do you know the highest reported case numbers for OC. I can’t seem to find that info anymore. Cheers B
August 11, 2024 at 10:20
1. Auckland is OK, it takes less cases because there are less winners there.
2. OC highest numbers seem to be 37XX range.
3. Going current isn’t a “your turn” kind of thing. It depends on the number of selectees. Since OC has 4053 selectees, it is pretty obvious it won’t go current in DV2025. Your number is probably at risk.
August 11, 2024 at 22:55
Thanks very much for your responses Simon, cheers B
August 11, 2024 at 04:25
Hi Simon
My case number is 30***k

August 11, 2024 at 03:53
Hi Simon my CN is 2025AF33xxx im from Ghana, i submitted my DS in the later part of June . Do I have a chance ?and when is it likely for me to receive an email for interview and a probable interview month
August 11, 2024 at 10:10
Accra embassy performed poorly during the whole of DV2024. Because of this they only got to cases at around 10K. If they continue to operate poorly, you will need to move to another country in order to save your chance.
August 10, 2024 at 18:42
Hi Simon, my cn is 2025Af22××× and the embassy is Monrovia, which month you think that I can receive my interview appointment? I sent my DS in may.
August 10, 2024 at 21:52
Early 2025.
August 13, 2024 at 18:31
Thank so much for your response. But we’re little worry, because we expecting child in November and looking at the first Visa bulletin for Africa 15000, and our cn 22×××,
Q: 1, if it continues like this don’t you think that our number maybe current before November?
2, Since we want add our child should we unlock ds 260 and delay the case?
3, what your best advice for us?
Hoping for your response very soon. Thank so much for always helping us through.
August 13, 2024 at 20:17
1. Possibly.
2. No, you will be able to add the child at any point.
3. Relax
August 10, 2024 at 08:20

Hi Simon , our case number is 2025OC2690. When should we be expecting our appointment letter if DS 260 form is approved?
Thanks.
August 10, 2024 at 08:11
If you become current, your 2NL/interview would be about 1 year from now.
August 9, 2024 at 20:38

August 8, 2024 at 14:46
Simon, my case number is AF 31k in Addis dv 2025 winner. Am I in trouble? How many months can I afford to wait and see how the Addis emabssay perform.
Let say I wait until ceac data is out and what if my case is current before that?
Pls Simon give me advice on this
August 8, 2024 at 15:03
Yes you do not want to become current before we have the January 1 data. So maybe think about moving to another country in November or so.
August 9, 2024 at 05:42
Hi Simon
How about the 2025AF27*** interview in ADD?
August 9, 2024 at 08:52
It really depends how Add behaves this year.
August 8, 2024 at 14:20
Thanks Simon.
August 8, 2024 at 12:07
Hello Simon, what do you think, I have 31xxx, do I have a real chance? Best regards, Daniel
August 8, 2024 at 14:20
Always quote the number with the year and region. You are 2025EU31XXX I believe. You are not “safe”, you probably have some risk. We will know better in January.
August 10, 2024 at 06:55
HI m/r BritSimon I have dv 2025 winer my CNo is AF000036xxx is their chance for interview ? I completed my DS 260 Early in June.
When the visa will be released?
August 10, 2024 at 08:16
You have a chance, depending on your embassy.
August 12, 2024 at 06:14
HI m/r BritSimon I have dv 2025 winer ETHIOPIA(Adis abeba) my CNo is AF000036xxx is their chance for interview ? I completed my DS 260 Early in June.
When the visa will be released?
August 12, 2024 at 08:44
The Addis embassy didn’t work well in DV2024 and consequently it did not schedule cases above 29K. So – if they behave like that, then your chance is at risk. Moving to another country will improve your chance.
August 8, 2024 at 11:22
Hi Simon
I submitted my DS on July, Can I not updated my DS 260 by unlocking when I move to another country, I’m moving to a country with history of not good performance … Because I will need to be scheduled in my home country which I won’t be there n if I ever get scheduled probably next year
Will it get me in trouble for not updating new location after I already initially submitted it with my old location ?
August 8, 2024 at 14:20
No trouble.
August 8, 2024 at 10:53
Now that you have this initial data about 2025, will you be making evaluations soon about what is considered a high number for each region? I know that you have some sense due to your survey, but did this data provide any more clarity?
My family won with 2025AS23xxx.
August 8, 2024 at 14:13
I’ll be looking at the data, but the survey is not confirmed by the selectee numbers. They are two distinct datapoints.
August 8, 2024 at 15:33
Thank you. I recall discussing their case number back in May and you stated that the data released today would give you further clarity on the riskiness of case numbers, with full clarity coming in January.
August 8, 2024 at 16:20
That’s true. If the selectee numbers today had been low, then I would feel confident that everyone was going to be happy. BUT the numbers were not low, which now means we need to consider the distribution of the cases, since that changes over the full range of numbers for the three large regions.
Sorry if I had not made that clear.
August 8, 2024 at 17:21
Thank you! This makes sense. I appreciate the answers to a data analysis newbie.
August 8, 2024 at 09:55
thank you @Britsimons for the VB information. Congratulations to DV2025 Winners
August 8, 2024 at 09:44

August 8, 2024 at 09:13
Simon. Do you think there will be a second draw?
August 8, 2024 at 13:56
No.
August 9, 2024 at 01:27
Hi Simon how about AF27***2025 ADD is it available around January, February
August 9, 2024 at 08:26
The number will be current, but if Addis behave the same way as they did in DV2024 then the interview would be in August or September
August 9, 2024 at 09:25
Hi simon.my number is low dv 2025AF3***. I unlocked my ds260 on july since we haven’t gotten the passports yet. Once i get them and submit let’s say maybe in September will it affect anything?. Thank you in advance
August 9, 2024 at 09:29
You will have caused a delay of course. You can submit the DS260 without passports (using other ID).
