Hi there, I am the DV2026 below AF17,000 for Ethiopia so I am current and I’m just anxiously waiting for my 2Nl. My passport will expire on October 2026 and I’ve read that it should be current six months prior to traveling to the US. Do you think that I should renew my passport now while waiting for the 2NL? Or do you think I’ll be ok to stick with my current passport . Thank you for all that you do .
Hie Simon, thank you for the good education over here. I have a question.
I am DV 26 AF17K and I am Current but I have not yet submitted the form DS260 as I am waiting for my Passport to be issued probably end of august or early September. What is the implication of it being current and not filing the form. Thank you.
Hello Brit, with deep respect, I wish to humbly raise a concern regarding the Diversity Visa (DV) process for Togolese applicants. We understand that the June 9th restrictions were issued due to non-immigrant visa overstays. However, many DV applicants from Togo who have already attended their interviews and met all requirements are now unable to receive their visas.
As September approaches and the program year comes to a close, we kindly appeal for your consideration that at least those who have completed interviews and fulfilled the process be granted their visas. These applicants have respected all procedures and are only seeking the opportunity that the DV program was intended to provide. Is there a way to get help somewhere ?
Unfortunately the travel ban, even the partial ban, is difficult to overcome. Curtis Morrison has filed a lawsuit attacking the ban, but for now it seems likely the ban will stay in place. It’s very frustrating and unfair.
I don’t think the ban will be removed soon, although it is possible that some countries could be added or removed from the list. I would NOT expect this to happen at the 90 day point – they can and will do those things whenever they want.
Hi Britsimon,
Hope you’re doing well. So obviously the October bulletin has flustered so many and seems like KCC always enjoys stirring the pot to keep things interesting.
I’m DV2026 OC region selectee with case number in 111X just a few numbers away from the October cut off. I was in a little bit of panic when I saw the cut off because I hadn’t made a start of gathering civil documents like police certificate so I’m on it right now. Do you reckon they might freeze November bulletin for OC or proceed conservatively with slowed bump increments? Either way I am assuming my case to go current either in November or December- am I wrong to make this guess?
Also, I just emailed KCC to confirm whether my Ds260 was processed or not and they replied “ Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member to the Kentucky Consular Center” – Does this mean they have already finished processing my application and waiting on the case to go current so they can schedule an interview?
Appreciate everything you do. My faith in humanity restores when I come across kind people like you.
Hello Simon,
my case number is included in the First Visa Bulletin for DV2026 – what should I do now? I received an email from state.gov asking me to log in to check the updates
I log in, but I can not find any updates
nothing new
I do not know where to find the updates
And please, should I submit any documents now?
Wait a few hours and check the ESC page again, you will then see your appointment details. You don’t submit documents, but you do need to read the instructions.
So they are already sending 2NL emails? Hello Simon. I have a case number Af0001167.
Yde (Cameroon) is my selected embassy. Anyway to know a possible precise time i could get a 2NL?
2NLs for DV2026 cases have started. However, they work in an approximate alphabetical order, so YDE will probably be sent in a few days time, assuming they have capacity available for the month.
Hi Brit, could you please advice on what should we do, we feel desperate. Our case number is 2025EU225**, we are current in September. Our embassy is set to Montreal, Canada. We haven’t received any information yet on our interview date (I also check daily dvprogram.state.gov). I know that some people are received their invitation few weeks ago in different places like Kyiv, Ukraine. I wrote an email to KCC to ask about our case and I wrote an email to Montreal’s embassy (they said it’s up to KCC). What should we do? Are we screwed? I’m afraid that we won’t have much time for medical exam if we receive it at the last moment if receive at all.
Others in your situation have moved embassies. Vienna has taken some cases in the last few days. To get moved, you have to email the embassy, and if they agree, they will instruct KCC to schedule you. You don’t have much time left, and Montreal will probably leave you to rot. So – if this is important to you, email Vienna ASAP, explaining what has happened and could they PLEASE take your case otherwise you will lose your chance. Their email address is here:

Leaving the DS260 open won’t stop the interview being scheduled.

No problem, just the delay you have caused needlessly. But once you submit, they will eventually process your DS260 and then you would be scheduled.

Hello Simon,
My interview will be in Jordan, and I have checked the U.S. Embassy webpage to follow the instructions. However, I am a bit confused about two points:
The link to register for passport collection does not work. Do DV applicants need to complete this registration before the interview?
Should I upload my documents to the Embassy before the interview? If yes, could you please advise where to upload them?
Thank you for your guidance.
Best regards,
August 17, 2025 at 10:28
Yes you need to register – just creating an account.
No you don’t upload documents.
August 18, 2025 at 01:12
How can I get this opportunity?l am from Ethiopia.
August 18, 2025 at 08:23
To start with, don’t ask such vague questions.
August 16, 2025 at 19:30
This is a great news.
However, Do we have any hope of the travel ban to be terminated after the 90 days which supposed to be in September 4th??
August 17, 2025 at 10:19

No, absolutely not. The cutoff is at 2025AF58500 – so no cases above that number have any chance. Your chance is gone, I’m sorry.
