The government have confirmed what we knew so far that the document procedure is not going to be in place for DV2023. That is great news, because the document procedure had caused a problem with processing since it was introduced during DV2019.
Now – this is also important for those that are still worried about DS260 processing. Since KCC are not splitting their resources AND have not lost several months of processing as we saw in DV2022, this means KCC will have more than enough time and resources to process ALL DS260s in a timely manner. This is exactly how the process used to operate, and I am happy to see us returned to that state.
Remember In DV2022 the government processed over 100K DS260s with about 6 or 7 months of wasted effort. That shows they have more than enough capacity, and I expect to see minimal DS260 wait times by about December. So finally people can stop wondering about when their DS260s were processed.
Also this means the numbers reported to the visa office will reflect reality of how many cases want to proceed. That means the Visa Bulletin will be used to control processing in a normal effective way. It is too soon to know exactly what that will mean (because we don’t have the full set of data yet), BUT it does mean that lower case numbers will have an advantage, which is the way the processed is supposed to work.

We are talking about documents not needing to be sent to KCC before scheduling. Obviously you must still have various documents at the interview.

(We ARE looking at other ways to move over there but since me and my husband own and work for our own company, not many ways are possible for us to get a visa that allows us both to work with our own business.) Hello Brit Simon, I need a little clarification, if a family of five get issued their DV visas, can the principal applicant take the lead to the USA, so that the derivatives join the principal applicant later but before the DV visa expires, OR does the PA have to return to Ghana and leave together with the derivatives ? Will only the derivatives be allowed into the USA whilst the PA has already entered and is in the USA?

Because I was working in the Ministry of Defense and I was hiding from Taliban, I didn’t have photos of my wife and sons to record them, now, I filled out the DS-260 form and told the truth that I am married and have two sons, but my wife and sons are not immigrating with me. Rejection is 100% certain in this scenario. Really – there is no point in you continuing the process. You broke a very critical rule, and you have given them the evidence. Really, there is no possible positive outcome, no excuse can be accepted.

HI Brit, I am winner of 2023 and I was notified of this news last week and I am very excited about this opportunity. We have already submitted the DS-260 form and have been assigned the case number AS4***. However, we have a couple of questions that we would like to clarify.
1. how long it will take to call us for the interview and
2. I would like to know to whom I should address the police certificate and whether it should be sent to the embassy or consulate via post or presented in person during the interview.

1. It varies based on when your form was processed, which embassy you are assigned to and so on – so I cannot guess.
