I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope the new year brings peace and prosperity to you all, and most of all, a successful Green Card story!
A reminder for those that understand what CEAC data is… the CEAC system will start showing 2020 case status from midnight on the Eastern time zone in the USA. You enter your case number without the leading zeros and you will see the status – which will be “at NVC” for most of you.
To understand all the codes, check my FAQ entry linked here.
Now, for those that understand what we can find out with CEAC data and are getting ready to scrape – the hope is that we can use an automatic way to get the data, at least for the first bulk run which is the biggest. Xarthisius has worked on the program to do that in a fully automatic way, so hopefully that will work and wel will expect CEAC updates as soon as possible in January. I will post about that in the next few days!

Thanks you very much for this great website. This blog was only help for my DV process in year 2018. I’m glad to see video for new visitors. Also please enter more information for new migrant such as health cover. Health and education is so expensive in USA.

I do have some articles and videos about healthcare. The link below is a good start.

Education is free up to age 18. Then there are some free options (community colleges) for a couple of years, but of course you can spend more.

Hello Britsimon, is it a requirement to list children over 21 years of age on the DS260?
January 17, 2020 at 17:06
You just answer the questions. The question says “Do you have any children?”. It doesn’t mention age.

Any chance you can update the address to which the green card will be send at the embassy? Let’s say in case of the person I intend to live with decides to move?
January 17, 2020 at 16:59
Yes – you can change that at the interview, and then you have one final chance at the POE (arrival airport).

Happy new year sir
I am with case number 10 k from Nepal.
when can I change sponsor?some are says we can change sponsor on the same day of interview and some says we have to change before second letter. I heard nowdays DS260 can’t be unlock before second letter. Is it so?
Please give me genuine idea.
January 13, 2020 at 17:00
You cannot unlock once you have the 2NL.
The address you give in the DS260 is not necessarily your financial sponsor. That address is where the GC will be sent. The person who will provide financial support could be another person. So – if you read and understand that you can decide what to do.

Happy new year to our man of the moment, Brit. Wishing you and family an enterprising 2020. My case number is 2020AF21… On 13th December 2019, received the below message from KCC and the Visa bulletin suggest that my CN has become current for February but still haven’t received the 2NL.
“Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current”.
Is there any advice you can proffer?hanks.
January 5, 2020 at 19:26
You were too late for February interviews, so will get a January 2NL for a March interview.

I checked the status of my visa through the link and there says: Please follow the instructions you got from NVC…..
I have only received email from KCC not NVC
Can you please help to clarify this?
Thanks in advance
January 1, 2020 at 16:40
Read the article above and check the link!
January 1, 2020 at 10:59
But when I just want to check my status on
the CEAC link you provide
it says “invalid case number” with red
I already know to put my case number with out the leading zeros like “2020AF12***”
what problem is coming to my case, for God’s sake??
am some what worried
or is this not time to check my case status( I mean before interview)?
January 1, 2020 at 16:38
Ridiculous to be worried, you probably just did something wrong. Try again.
January 1, 2020 at 09:38
Happy New Year to you and everyone. Wish you all the best of luck this year.
January 1, 2020 at 08:55
Guys CEAC data are now available. As mr. simon said we have to start data scraping once xarthisius system is updated.
January 1, 2020 at 16:36
No need to scrape. Xaethisius has it hooked up to a paid for service that solves the captchas.
January 1, 2020 at 08:27
Happy new year to everyone may this year bring selection to most Africans who tried their possible best to enter the DV 2021. All the best
January 1, 2020 at 03:59
Thank you, dear simon for your good wishes, happy new year to you!!!
Do you know we Ethiopians have our own calender and celebrate new year every september. Now we are @2012, two ‘world cups’ behind the rest of the world. But we proud about that, since we have a reason given from our beloved ancestors.
January 1, 2020 at 06:36
Yes – I’m aware of the calendar difference! It’s cool that you are proud of the difference!
