I’ve gathered the Historical Visa Bulletin Numbers from various sources for a few years to give an idea of progression in previous years and I will maintain these numbers as future Visa Bulletins are released.
Knowing visa bulletin progression is sometimes a useful reference, and is certainly interesting. To use the data, click the tab for the region you are interested in and check the cutoff number for the month.
There may be some similarities with number progress from year to year, but there may not. So – don’t rely on these numbers as a predictive guide for this year. One thing that confuses people is that the selected numbers vary each year depending on entries and other factors. For instance, certain countries in the past have had huge entry numbers and once those countries are excluded from the lottery the range of numbers selected changes from one year to the next. That was the case in 2014 to 2015 in AF region when Nigeria was excluded, or in Asia in 2012 to 2013 when Bangladesh was excluded.
To understand how to read the Visa Bulletin works and can be read – please check out this article.
What does CURRENT mean? That is published when KCC believes that there are enough visas for all remaining demand. All case numbers can then be interviewed.
If you prefer a direct link to the data you can see that here.

Hi,
My case number is AS24XXX. I havent received the mail to submit the documents yet.
What’s the possibility of getting documents submission mail to high case numbers like mine? What’s your prediction?
December 28, 2020 at 18:30
I don’t have a prediction, but really you just need to be patient.
January 16, 2021 at 01:11
Hi Brit, thanks for all your effors in educating us how to go through the DV program. I was curious about the chances to win, so I scraped the data from their official website and made a Google Sheet. Here is the link for anyone that’s interested.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kYZRzQU3h8HjDGy8caj1RrIsmAK1Mc_-1uuEbvrzlak/edit?usp=sharing
This was a nice excercise in Sheets, since the data needed a lot of clean up to get it into proper form.
Best,
Peter
January 16, 2021 at 03:51
Great thanks. I have done similar, but you did a nice job!
January 26, 2021 at 16:43
Hi Brit.
I am DV2021 winner and I have relocated to another state a couple of months ago. I contacted KCC regarding this and they advised me to submit my DS260 with new address, info, etc. My case number is AS9*** and since VB has not announced my number I haven’t taken any action yet. Shoudl I just go ahead and submit my DS260?
January 26, 2021 at 17:54
No – wait – read my earlier reply. DS260 is OPTIONAL for AOS.
January 30, 2021 at 03:40
Mr. Brit, thanks for all that you do.
1.About DS-260 being optional for AOS, [yet the selectee letter states that ”ALL DV applicants must use the onoline DS-260…”’]. Could this be the reason that an AOS case gets delayed.. Not submitting the DOS form/. What is the biggest advantage of DS-260 submission for AOS anyway
2.Apart from the COVID-19 Crisis and embassy closure, what would you attribute the slow visa bulletin numbers/ [ Too many holes…Number of selectees etc..]
Thanks alot. God bless you
January 30, 2021 at 03:47
Correction;-
2.Apart from the COVID-19 Crisis and embassy closure, what would you attribute the slow visa DV 2021 bulletin numbers/ [ Too many holes or Number of selectees etc..]
Thanks alot. God bless you
January 30, 2021 at 05:38
1. I am certain of what I said. They are totally different processes. The only possible advantage of filing a DS260 is the chance that it speeds up KCC reaction when the IO asks for your case file from KCC.
2. It is the covid crisis, closures, ban and so on.
February 27, 2021 at 09:23
Hey Brit. Would love to first of all thank you for the amazing work you are doing. Given the recent full resumption of activities at KCC and embassies after the uplifting of the ban, what do you think of AF51k. What are their chances? Thanks
February 27, 2021 at 17:35
There is not a FULL resumption of activities. So I still am not predicting anything.
March 5, 2021 at 00:02
Hi Brit, thanks a lot for providing these numbers and all the other updates. What is your opinion about case number around 1600 in Oceania for DV21? Is it a safe number?
March 5, 2021 at 17:02
No predictions this year. We have lost a lot of time.
March 20, 2021 at 04:42
Hello Brit, I am in the USA since last Saturday, I had to change the address of my residence at the airport, but I forgot to tell the officer the number of the apartment, so 3 days later I paid the Green card and updated the address on the page of USCIS and USPS … My question is, when USPS brings the SSN, will they leave the envelope at the updated address or could it be returned to the office? By the way, the old and new address are “in care of”
DV2020
March 21, 2021 at 14:39
Because of the in care of, this might be delivered correctly. But ask the apartment owner to let the mailman know.
May 7, 2021 at 16:29
Hi Brit, thanks a lot for providing these numbers and all the other updates. What is your opinion about case number around 51000 in Africa for DV21?
May 7, 2021 at 16:39
I have no way to guess what cases will be lucky because everything is a mess.
May 8, 2021 at 10:11
Hi! I’ve applied for asylum 12 years ago back in USA, will it have any effect on my application, thanks in advance!
May 8, 2021 at 14:14

Sounds like your internet connection is bad, but try another browser.
May 13, 2021 at 20:51
Yes, actually I tried with a VPN and all was ok. Thank you
May 13, 2021 at 18:32
First of all great article. When I applied for the lottery last october I stated my old living adress where I moved out in august that year. Now that I won, I’m obviously stating my new adress in the DS-260. Is that going to be a problem? Especially because I’ll also say in the DS-260 that I lived there until August und participated in the lottery in october (with the old adress). Thanks so much!
May 14, 2021 at 00:55
That is normal – no problem.
May 15, 2021 at 19:26
Hi Simon, i’m a dv2022 winner living in israel (covid19 is almost gone here).
My Case Number is ASxxxx79xx.
What are my chances of being interviewed – as far as you can predict (i fully understand that you can’t promise nothing….)
Thanks in advance
May 15, 2021 at 19:43
I can’t predict. It is too early to know anything, and much could change because of Covid.
May 16, 2021 at 11:05
Hello, should I also state in the DS-260 under former adresses when I lived with friends in the US for 4 months while going to open university there?
May 16, 2021 at 14:58
Yes
May 17, 2021 at 23:06
If your primary occupation is being a college student, should you also state your current university under “former education” because it says you should name every secondary educational institution you’ve been in (and also name how many, what number has to match the stated institutes).
If so, I can’t write “from…until…” because I’m obviously still going there.
Thanks for your help Simon!
May 17, 2021 at 23:28
If you are still in education, then that would be the current occupation, not institutions “attended” (past tense).
May 17, 2021 at 23:42
So even though my current insitution is my 3rd I should state I went to 2 secondary’s.. right? I also need to state “university, no degree” (and not high school diploma) even though it asks me what education form i have completed? (just answer yes yes if both assumptions are correct ) Thank you 🙂
May 18, 2021 at 00:01
yes yes
May 22, 2021 at 09:17
Hi Simon, thank you for all your videos and this blog is great. I am a 2022-DV winner I would like to ask you about two things and I hope you can help me:
1- my case number is around the 6000 and I am from Asia, I completed the DS-260 in 10.5.2021 but until now the KCC did not contact me to send them the documents can you tell from your experience how long it takes usually to send this E-mail?
2- in my country their are two types of certificate a non-convection certificate and a good behavior and conduct certificate. in my embassy’s website they just ask for the non-convection. is this mean that the KCC also just need the non-convection. or should I issue the good behavior certificate for the KCC. because they state that they need a police certificate in the government website.
Thank you Mr. Simon
May 22, 2021 at 14:39
1. It takes a while, be patient.
2. The reciprocity page for your country will give a clear explanation of what form you need and how to get it. Read the instructions.
May 23, 2021 at 15:52
Hi Mr Simon ,
My brother’s case number is in the 79000’s and he won in Cameroon- Africa . He sent his paperwork to Kentucky and did not get a response for interview date yet .

Hi brit
I have a question
There is 50000 quota available each year
Does 50000 includes spouse and children also or just applicant?
For instance, me my husband and my son is that 3 quota out of 50000 or 1 quota out of 50000
And one more question
I am from nepal and has case number 2022 69** and my interview location is new zealand, as nepal embassy is closed, Does that mean unless all the applicant infront of me are interviewed i wont get interviewed no matter my location is New Zealand?
Thank you
May 30, 2021 at 19:27
1. Your family would be 3 of the quota (which is 55000).
2. No.
July 20, 2021 at 21:25
Hi john
Whereabouts from nz? I am from Christchurch
Nepalese winner.
R u in telegram?
June 12, 2021 at 14:19
I already went to an open university for a semester in the US. Besides that I’m still enrolled in college here in europe. Should I state in the DS-260 that my highest degree is high school or university, no degree? I would say high school but I have university experience.. what do you think?
June 13, 2021 at 14:54
That question doesn’t matter. Pick whatever you think is most accurate.
But list all education in the DS260 from age 12 upwards.
July 30, 2021 at 22:24
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your posts about dv lottery.
My mom von 2021 dv lottery, and her number is EU42XX ( Armenia). Her all documentation is completed. I sent them email about interview date and they sent me back that everything is complete and she need to wait until her interview will be available. My question is: What do you think does she have chance to be interviewed or after September her lottery will useless? Do we need to do something or we need to wait only.
Thanks
August 2, 2021 at 04:11
All you can do is wait.
August 22, 2021 at 11:38

Hi Simon,

thanks
September 9, 2021 at 04:02
Sounds like a bad idea, but it depends on the file extension.

October 6, 2021 at 04:21
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2022 Selectee 2022OC2** and have only just sent my docs to KCC (without their request, 4 weeks ago). Are you are if they have scheduled any interviews for NOV as yet in Australia/Sydney given the current lockdown restictions.
With thanks
Joestar
October 6, 2021 at 05:27
No interviews scheduled yet
October 23, 2021 at 19:42
Hi
I want to change my interview, knowing that my case number is big, above 50000 Africa, and I sent a ds260 at the end of the month of 8. I don’t know what to do, should I wait for an email to send the documents and then process them, or send an email now to change the location of the interview
October 23, 2021 at 19:56
You have months to wait anyway – so why change now?

Hiiii Simon,
Am Alexander, dv 2022 selected with case number 2022AF37XXX, i have filled my ds260 last two months ago but havent heard mine 2nl. Must I supposed to wait small??
Secondly, I saw a post from the American Website that dv winners are not suppose to send their docs to KCC again but rather take it to the Embassy the interview day. Is that really true??
December 22, 2021 at 22:56
No need to send documents now.
As for hearing something – your case won’t be current for some time, so you need to remain patient.
December 23, 2021 at 19:35
Must all dv lottery winners fill the I-130 forms, which is the Petition for Alien relative?? If yes, when should I fill it, or if only your case number is current??
December 24, 2021 at 19:37
No.
December 23, 2021 at 13:03
Hiiii Simon,

Hi Simon,
Om DV 2022 selectee having AS194xx case number. Both myself and my wife have a valid B1/B2 visa .. suppose our case number goes current in June VB, can we travel to the US on the visitor visa we have and then do an AOS from there? Is this possible at all ?
January 31, 2022 at 00:18
You can, BUT there are significant chalenges involved. You might want to discuss that with a lawyer.
March 16, 2022 at 19:12
Hello Brit Simon;
I was the winner of DV with case number 2022AFXXX17XXX . However ; I didn’t receive any letter of appointment for interview. When shall I expect ?

April 20, 2022 at 08:11
Hello Mr. Simon, can you please help me with the current Visa bulletin number for DV 2022 winners Africa? Thanks
April 24, 2022 at 23:28
It’s current, but really this is easy to read yourself.
April 22, 2022 at 08:16
Hi Simon,
I am EU25XXX just was wondering what my chances are since the cutoff is 27K since April. I also have an info that a friend of mine who is EU13XXX has just cot the email from KCC. Thank you I appreciate your time and effort!
April 25, 2022 at 04:13
I can’t really guess “chances”.
May 8, 2022 at 03:35
how come Africa in 2022 April it went from 25k to 50k? Do you know?
May 8, 2022 at 03:44
They increased the VB number fast in order to use capacity in some embassies.
May 20, 2022 at 13:25
Hi, Brit!
Thanks a lot for the hard work and availability to dv lottery winners.
form Africa and living here for 6 years already I won the lottery with the CN 2023AF22XXX
Have some questions:
1. The DS260 can be an advantage!?
2. Do I need to wait for the process or I should just start the ds process and then the AOS
May 21, 2022 at 16:17
Huh?
Make your questions clear please.
January 13, 2023 at 10:11
Hi Brit
thank you for the hard work you do to inform us
please I have a question
My case number is 2023AF16XXX, and according to the visa bulletin the month of January for Africa is 20000, but so far no second letter for the interview. what should I do?
thanks in advance
January 15, 2023 at 10:23
Wait. You can’t be scheduled until your DS260 is processed and the embassy has capacity.
February 13, 2023 at 10:21
Hi Simon! Thank you for your information and awesome responses here.I am a DV2023 winner with cn 2023EU19XXX from Albania? Any suggestion for possible interview date ? I submitted my ds260 on 28th May
Thank you in advance !
February 13, 2023 at 10:51
I can’t predict that. It depends on when you were processed, your embassy status and so on.
April 16, 2023 at 05:20
Hello Simon!
My fiancee have been selected for DV2023 lottery and case number is 2023EU34*** in Lithuania. My question is:
Is it possible that VB cut-off number is lower than my case number but still will interview will be scheduled earlier?
For example, in DVcharts datatbase I can see that on 2023-01-28 my embassy (in Vilnius) had already 4 cases in 16k-20k and 4 case 20k-24k with status “ready”, meanwhile VB cut-off number was only 15000 in Eu. As I understood that my embassy doing it very well and taking higher case numbers than other embassies? Also is pretty small country (2.5mln), maybe this also helps?
P.S. BIG THANK YOU for content which you creating!
April 16, 2023 at 14:25
No, a case can never be interviewed early, no matter how well the embassy is doing. On 1/28/2023, the VB had been published for up to March interviews, which was 26000 for EU. So the interviews can be scheduled for March, but not interviewed.
May 10, 2023 at 05:58
hi simon
my case number is AS22xxx i already submitted the d260 because I wasn’t aware of the bulletin visa, what will happen to my case did this disqualify me already ?
May 10, 2023 at 09:05
No – you did the correct thing.
May 11, 2023 at 03:08
also, I just listed my bachelor and master’s degree but not my high school, should I request the kcc to unlock my application ?
I’m also losing hope because I feel my case number is high for Asia and wont be able to get it especially my embassy is Abu Dhabi.
May 11, 2023 at 08:55
You don’t have to unlock. It’s your choice.
May 14, 2023 at 03:26
hi, My case number is 2024AF00113844
