Please read this important update after I spoke with KCC on February 24.
I spoke directly to the KCC staff and checked the best way to handle the documents situation for those that are not certain their documents are processed (see below).
KCC confirmed that they cannot see document status until the case is current. That is a change from the previous situation where the KCC staff at least could check that documents were received and being processed. There is separation between the teams and the systems. So – the regular KCC staff may not be able to provide good updates at this time.
The representative told me the best idea for cases where you are NOT certain your documents are satisfactory is to send the documents to the KCCDV team at this email address – KCCDV@state.gov
Make sure your case number is in the subject line, and include your name and birthdate in the email body. If you are attaching the documents make sure you attach the whole complete set of documents as described in this LINKED article about the document procedure.
KCC will check if your case is currently being scheduled and will inform you if that is the case with an email that says “you are current for scheduling“.
This update is about the documents. It is important for those cases not yet scheduled to make sure they have sent the correct documents AND that those documents have been processed, so, if you are not CERTAIN that KCC has processed your documents you need to check with KCC and ask them whether they are satisfied with your documents.
By now KCC should have asked everyone to submit documents, so if you have not been asked you might have missed the email. So – whether you have received the email asking for documents or not – you now need to send them.
The full instructions on what documents to send and how to send them are in this link.

Hello Brit,
1) I wanted to do AOS at first and I put that in my ds-260 but then I changed my mind for some personal reason and wanted to do CP so I emailed KCC 7 weeks ago to change my case to CP but I haven’t heard anything from them. Is this normal?
2) my case number was current for march but i haven’t still send my documents even though I have everything ready. Should I send my documents without getting any replay from KCC?
Thank you so much!
February 21, 2020 at 21:07
1. No. You need to contact them again to get your DS260 unlocked so you can make the necessary changes. In reality CP is probably going to be slower than AOS given this delay you caused with changing your mind.
2. Yes.
February 21, 2020 at 20:20
Hi Simon,
Considering I have the documents kcc asks for, but they are not in English, but in the official language of my country – do I need to translate them before sending?
It’s not quite clear from kcc email
Thanks
February 21, 2020 at 21:08
It’s VERY clear in the email. If you are interviewing in your country you do not need translations.

February 21, 2020 at 20:56
Hi BritSimon,
Firstly thanks very much for all your information, we really appreciate your efforts.
Two quick questions:
1. Is it still true that all cases receive a “documents and DS-260 successfully processed” email or does that vary?
2. Our case no. is not yet current (EU22k), however documents have been submitted a while ago (after document request email from KCC) and e.g. police certificates should not be older than 6 months. Do we need to apply for new certificates in case our interview would fall outside the 6-months period?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
February 21, 2020 at 22:40
1. It varies, but I am pushing people to ASK for that confirmation from KCC to avoid mistakes.
2. Technically those documents are still valid (up to 12 months) but personally I would renew them anyway.
February 21, 2020 at 22:02
Hello Mr Brit
my CN 2020AF45xxx, i’m not current yet
i asked them about the documents i sent in december, they reply:
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
February 22, 2020 at 00:02
What should i do?
February 21, 2020 at 22:15
Hello Brit.
Thank you for everything you do for us . My CN is 2020AF59xxx. When I submitted my documents on October 21, 2019, I sent 2 documents (birth certificate and passport) wanting to add the last document (criminal record), I unfortunately pressed the button sent. And I immediately submitted the last document (criminal record) apart and I received the automatic response 2 times. I sent an email to kcc 2 months later to check if they are satisfied with my documents and received the standard response. My questions are:
1. Could I still send my documents?
2. If yes, The validity of the police certificate (casier judiciaire in french) in my country is 3 months. Should I send the same or redo a new one?
Thank you so much. ??
February 21, 2020 at 23:01
1. You should send the whole set of documents.
2. Send the one you have, renew before the interview. Take both to the interview.
February 21, 2020 at 23:18
Thank you very much. Be blessed
February 22, 2020 at 02:47
Hi Brit,
i just watched your video. I forwarded all the required docs. on nov 7th last year ( passport , birthcert and police records) I did not get an email from them that anything was missing. I contacted them two weeks ago to ask for the status and the only thing they told me “documents are processed in numerical order” my case number is not current yet but EU31XXX so that should come up the next two months or so??. Do you advise me to contact them again maybe by phone to get a clearer answer about my documents?
cheers!
February 22, 2020 at 04:12
Yes contact them again in 2 to 4 weeks.
February 22, 2020 at 06:47
Hi Simon,
Unfortunately KCC doen’t answer about status of your documents until you are current, even if something is wrong. So calling them is completely useless.
Also, they stopped processing documents of “close to current” EU cases in the beginning of February and when we call and ask about this situation they say that documents will be processed only after case becomes current. That’s nonsense! If it’s true, we will face not 1-month backlog, as it was before, but 2 or 3 month…
February 22, 2020 at 15:29
Dear Helga
I am eu39xxx same answear to me.
I send the doc email. On late December.
After 7 week I asked by email my situation.
They said there is a queue based on the case number. So my doc will be processed when my number is to be current or near.
Let. Me know
Please. Stay in touch I feel sad and full of thought about that situation
Bye
Monica
February 24, 2020 at 12:42
The same here I did he same thing but no answer they give any information about whether your documents are correct or not
February 22, 2020 at 07:12
Hi sir
At first thank you for the information, sir I also have submitted some documents asked by counselor officer on 12 Feb 2020 but I have not receive mail till now. So sir I have to send mail to kcc or not
February 22, 2020 at 15:23
Do you mean you already had an interview? If so, KCC are no longer involved in your case.
February 22, 2020 at 07:55
Hello Brit!Thanks for your help.
My case number is EU233**,I’ve submitted my documents on October 19’,but I haven’t received any confirmation email yet.I’ve called KCC to ask if anything is missing on my documents but their answer is always : We cannot give information until your case number is Current. But I know many people that their CN is 23-24k that have already received the confirmation email.According to my CN wich is close to the current VB,what do you advice me to do?Should I resend again my documents or I just have to wait?
February 22, 2020 at 15:25
I would resend.
February 22, 2020 at 08:20
Hi Brit, my cn AS14XXX from iraq and 9th January comfirm and accepted our document, when I receive 2nl please please?
February 22, 2020 at 15:26
Later this month.
February 22, 2020 at 08:23
Hi BritSimon,
I have Case# AS19xxx.
I am still collecting documents, the last one being the police clearance certificate.
Please advise if its better to submit all documents at once, which could take another 3 weeks OR submit what i have now and then later submit the pcc once i get it.
I was thinking former. But let me know what you think as well.
Thanks for all the help you have been doing so far. Much appreciated.
February 22, 2020 at 15:27
All documents at once.
February 22, 2020 at 08:26
Hi simon,
I wish to send the KCC documents today.
I obtained documents about my military service which described it’s period and my details.
I was about to send it to KCC as military records.
Today I found out in the website of the US embassy in my country that they require a different but quite similar kind of form of military records that I should obtain for the interview.
Is it OK to send the documents I currently have, and bring the required documents to the interview? I don’t want to postpone sending the documents.
Thanks
February 22, 2020 at 15:28
I don’t know if that will be acceptable. Your choice.
February 22, 2020 at 08:48
Hi Brit! I tried to contact KCC by email and got looks like a template answer saying that all documents are processed in the case number order. Nothing about my case. I also contacted KCC by phone and they said they don’t know anything about my documents status because there is some other department responsible for the documents processing and they don’t communicate with them. Also they said I can’t contact that department because they are not publicly available. Weird…Please leave your comment on this situation. Thanks
February 22, 2020 at 15:29
Try again in a few weeks.
February 22, 2020 at 09:13
Hi Brit,
I follow and watch all of your videos,
I have submitted my documents in the end of October, do you think that i should send them an email asking if my documents are ok? Even though i have a big number Eu39*** ?
Or wait some weeks and then send. How do you suggest me according to my case number?
February 22, 2020 at 15:32
Ask them.
February 22, 2020 at 10:03
Hi Simon,
I sent an email to KCC end of Jan because I submitted my documents in November and did not yet receive a confirmation that they were processed. KCC replied to me with the following: “Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.” I have not heard from KCC since then and was wondering based on the information in your video if I could send another email?
Thank you,
Eveline
February 22, 2020 at 11:42
Hi Evelin! Can I know wich is your case number please? Are you from Europe region?
February 22, 2020 at 15:35
You can ask again.
February 22, 2020 at 21:32
So something is weird with KCC… I sent the docs last October (CN AS 28XXX) and called KCC in late December just to make sure they received them. The guy at KCC was super nice and he told me to hang on while he’s checking. After 2 minutes he replied that my docs were recieved. Great.
Yesterday I called KCC again to know if they already started processing them and if they’re happy with them. This time the guy told me he can’t see the status of my docs as I’m not yet current. He said he has no access to the docs (to even see if they’re recieved) because that’s a different department. He did say that if everything’s in order I should expect a confirmation email in the next couple of months tops.
So I’m not sure what’s this new thing with not seeing docs unless you’re current, sound like BS to me (either they’re too lazy to check that or recieved an instruction not to share this information unless you’re current).
Also, it seems from his words that AS is about to become current pretty soon so fingers crossed…
February 22, 2020 at 21:48
Yeah, there is no reason not to make AS current now.
I’ll be calling them this week to discuss their standard answers…
February 22, 2020 at 23:14
Yeah, it’s like they’ve embargoed any information regarding docs which is super strange as people NEED to know if they recieved them, preferebaly before they’re current…
That would be great, a million thanks!
February 23, 2020 at 06:41
Thank you very much for your effort! KCC refuses to speak with us, great you can do that.
February 22, 2020 at 23:47
I have a question about the validity of documents – my original military record (from 2008) and birth certificate (which I requested in May 2019) will be older than 12 months by the time of the interview (probably around june/july) – do I have to request newer copies or does the expiration time only applies for the police certificate?
Thanks!
February 23, 2020 at 05:07
Just police certs.
February 23, 2020 at 06:14
Dear Simon, I have question I’m from one of the countries affected by the travel ban (Sudan). I’m mother with two kids. My interview scheduled on the beginning of March, noting that I have three siblings American citizens. Do you think that will be good reason to get the visa or that will not help? Thanks.
February 23, 2020 at 15:15
I really don’t know. THere is no hard rule on when the CO can apply for a waiver. Even if they do apply for a waiver it takes time, so you have to realize you are gambling the fees.
February 23, 2020 at 06:26
Dear sir
My case no is 2020AS12*** and i have sent all document to KCC on 7th nov 2019 and KCC sent me document received confirmation mail on 20 december 2019.i want to know that again i need to send any document to KCC ?? Till now kcc has not send any mail for doc.
February 23, 2020 at 15:16
If the document received email says all documents were processed and you are just waiting to be cureent you don’t need to do anything else. Just wait for the 2NL – probably by the end of this month.
February 23, 2020 at 12:01
Hi Brit
CN 2020AF16xxx I submitted my documents and was not getting any reply so I contacted KCC to find out and this was what I had as a reply.
Case Number: 2020AF00016xxx
Dear DAxxxx DOKxxxxx:
Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.
Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin in October 2019 and conclude on September 30, 2020. Please refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email listed on your DS-260 to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
If your case becomes current and you have not received notification to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov, please contact [email protected] to confirm all of your documents have been received, and you are ready to be scheduled for an interview.
I know my CN is current but I have not received 2NL mail as at today 23/02/2020.Please what should I do next? Thanks.
February 23, 2020 at 15:25
When did you get that email?
February 23, 2020 at 20:02
Hi Brit,
Please I received email from kcc on 6th February confirming that I sent all the required documents and that they have processed them and ready to be scheduled for interview. My question is that when do I expect my 2NL?
February 24, 2020 at 03:54
If you are current, you will get a 2NL in March for a May interview.
February 23, 2020 at 20:04
My case number is 2020 AF00032XXX
February 24, 2020 at 05:18
Hello Simon
Thank you, your efforts are very appreciated.
Please give me advice as I sent the required documents on November 11, 2019 and received an automatic reply from the KCC that they received the documents.
As of today, I have not received an email stating that they have reviewed the documents even though there are many people whose their case number is greater than me and they have received the email review. My CN 2020AF00039XXX
I sent to the KCC Email to inquire about the reason for their delay in responding and their replay for my inquiry was the following:
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
The next bulletin (April 2020) is expected to include my case number If the added cases are with the same percentage of March bulletin
What do you think the reason for the delay? Would I send to ask again? would it have an effect? Should I do anything else?
February 24, 2020 at 20:20
Please read the update on this article.
March 1, 2020 at 06:37
Thank you Simon, KCC sent me the email saying “Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled”
March 1, 2020 at 21:50
Good.
February 24, 2020 at 06:17
Hi
Please, I would like to know if this issue can cause a problem during the interview. I lost my old birth certificate. So when I was selected I went to birth and death registration authority to process a new one and used it to get a passport
February 24, 2020 at 20:22
No problem if everything is official.
February 24, 2020 at 07:37
hello brit,
I an current with CN: 2020AS11***. Haven’t received 2NLs until today (24.2.2020). Should i write to them or wait till the end of this month. And is it true that i could get it in March>??
Thankx for all the effort.
God Bless.
February 24, 2020 at 20:23
Timing will depend on when they processed your documents. Did you get an email saying they processed your documents? When?
February 25, 2020 at 08:53
These were the exact email.
Received on Dec 17th 2019.

You would know once it happens.
February 24, 2020 at 08:35

sofia
February 24, 2020 at 16:32
again they said :
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email.

Your number is high, so not an urgency for them. But do re-read the update in the article above.
February 24, 2020 at 17:49
Brit,
EU29XXX. Doing AOS. F1 phd currently in US. Paid DV AOS fee and got paid receipt back.
From the above questions and answers I am confused a bit about one thing:
I received the first KCC email confirming my selection and with subject line “Further DV Documents Required”.
So even though I am not current yet but as I am doing AOS hence I haven’t sent any documents because I was under the assumption that I can only send them after I become current and when I file my I-485.
Q: Should I send the documents listed on that email to the lockbox as in KCC before I even become current? And then later send rest of the documents with my AOS package?
thanks
February 24, 2020 at 21:00
You do not need to send documents to KCC since you are doing AOS.
Make sure you have read and understand the steps described on the spreadsheet for AOS – linked from the first post in this thread.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2020-aos-only.340762/
February 24, 2020 at 20:51
HI Brit,
i called the KCC today after i submitted my documents twice and got the email which wasnt clear whether they have rceived my documents or not. this time the lady whom i have spoke with said that for applicants who do AOS it is not required to submit those further documents. I asked her that i have recieved an email asking for further documents and included information and instruction regarding AOS process, she said that email was part of mass email sent for everyone, i should disregard that and wait until my number become current.
Do you think i still should concern and have to make sure that they have recieved my documents or not?
Thanks
February 24, 2020 at 21:05
The lady gavce you accurate information. Why are you still asking me?
February 24, 2020 at 22:31
I wasn’t sure, because that seems as a new information for me. However i wanted to confirm it with you as a person with vast experiences. Thank you so much
February 24, 2020 at 21:50
Hi Brit , should everyone resend the documents to this e-mail ?
February 24, 2020 at 21:54
As stated, if you are not certain they have your documents, its wise to resend them.
February 24, 2020 at 21:51
Hi brit ! so my cn is Eu47xxx and by the words you said can I send the docs to [email protected] and check if my docs are ok ,would they reply me and check my docs or anyway they would wait till my cn becomes current,2.does this new system of checking docs will delay interview date because that month when a cn becomes current ,same month would the documents be checked and eventually 2nl would come next month?
February 24, 2020 at 21:53
No delay for resending docs.
February 24, 2020 at 21:57
Hello Simon,
Thank you so much for your update! My cn is EU44***.
According to your update, the kcc will notify that the docs are OK if the cn is about to be current.
But what do you think about high cn? Is this update right for us or we will get the usual autoreply about numerical order and so on? Or maybe it’s better to call kcc just to make sure the documents are satisfactory?
And thanks again for your help and news! It’s a really difficult thing not to be sure about the future for so long!
February 24, 2020 at 23:39
Did you read the latest update? KCC won’t be able to tell you anything until you’re current – so don’t you think sening the documents is a wise step to avoid a delay later. This is ESPECIALLY true for high case numbers because they may not have much time to lose…
February 24, 2020 at 23:14
so if I resend my docs to the other email [email protected] they will reply if they are satisfied in the future days or they will reply when my cn becomes current ? sorry brit if I made to much questions ,have a nice day
February 24, 2020 at 23:46
I don’t know. Try.
February 25, 2020 at 00:12
Hi Brit,
My CN is 2020AF17XXX and I have received e-mail from KCC confirming processing my documents on Feb. 6th
I now expect, if all goes well, to receive 2NL by March for interview in May
My wife and I are expecting a baby by mid-June
Would that delay issuing the IV till we add the newborn baby to our application and get a new appointment for interview from the embassy, or there is a way to notify the counsel of this situation and get a visa to the newborn baby upon issuing the birth certificate and passport for the baby?
February 25, 2020 at 03:54
There is a process for the baby – detailed in the FAQ – please read it.
February 25, 2020 at 02:48
Hey Brit, some people mailed kccdv with documents attached few months ago (I know some of them). KCC has replied that this address is not for documents, and they just redirect this mail to the needed address. So
what is the reason to send mails to the kccdv address?
February 25, 2020 at 03:55
Just exactly what I explained. It is for people that want to send a SECOND set of documents because they are not certain their documents were received.
February 25, 2020 at 04:34
Dear Brit,
When sending my documents before i didn’t include my name, case number and date of birth in the email body. i only used my case number as the subject line. Is that okay?
Thank you! !
February 25, 2020 at 05:33
Yes.
February 25, 2020 at 06:47
What abut those people who already got mail from KCC
“Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.”
Q1. May i send document one more time?
Q2. If i send all my document without asking kcc , is there any problem?

hi brit ! my wife applied with her maiden name and she is principal applicant ,we got married after applying and before selection she got my name and changed the documents like passport to the new surname,we completed the ds-260 with the new name and put the maiden name at the other name used, so When we sent the documents we referenced the pdf files like passport with the new surname ,not the maiden surname that she applied(principal applicant surname) is that ok , or should we resend and rename with the name as it is in the initial entry ? thanks
February 25, 2020 at 14:54
The new name is fine.
February 25, 2020 at 14:55
Of course – the maiden name is in the DS260 as previous name used – right?
February 25, 2020 at 16:48
yes brit ! thanks so much that you help us in these stressful times

Hello brit ,
I have send my documents on 19 February but i did not write my name and date of birth in email body , i just write case number in subject . Do i have to send documents again by adding name and date of birth in email body ?
February 25, 2020 at 14:57
No -you did right. The name and DOB atr only helpful for the main KCC team, not the documents team.
February 25, 2020 at 15:36
Thanks for the reply , As i send documents on 19 February i think there is no advantage to send email to main kcc now I should ask them after 6 weeks right ? My cn is As24xxx
February 25, 2020 at 19:37
Yes, just wait.

February 25, 2020 at 15:01

February 25, 2020 at 13:18
Hi Brit,

Should I sent again [email protected] now?
EU53****
Thank you:)
February 25, 2020 at 15:10
No. They have told you they completed processing your documents – right? So Wait.
February 25, 2020 at 14:46
Hello Brit
I recently checked the ESC website and I am a selectee. I didn’t even submit the DS260 form. My case will probably be current in May or June. I didn’t get the Passport ready and it will take quite a while.
1. If I submit the DS260 in early April, do I have the chance to get an appointment?
2. Can I send the documents immediately after I submit the DS260 or should I wait until they ask for it?
Thank you
February 25, 2020 at 15:30
1. Yes
2. Immediately.
February 25, 2020 at 14:53
Thanks
February 25, 2020 at 15:01
Hello Brit.
Should I send docs to kccdvdocuments email and put kccdv in cc? So it went to both emails?
Or I should just send docs to kccdv if I never sent to kccdvdocuments?
Or two separated emails to both of them??
Thanks!
February 25, 2020 at 15:28
The documents email is where you send at least one time. The note in red above is for those that are still not clear that their documents have been processed.
February 25, 2020 at 15:08
Hi,
I know you are getting this question a lot, i saw an answer you gave to someone with EU35*** case number but i am not finding one answer for my range, pleaseee what do you think about number EU39***, do i have a chance?
If you are gonna post a video about this, i can wait. 🙂
February 25, 2020 at 15:26
Mathematically your number is fine. However, KCC need to start maximising the interview slots – so that is the concern.
February 25, 2020 at 17:29
Yes, i understand. Thank you
1- And one question, in the e-mail that i sent to KCC in October about the documents, i didn’t write my birthday at the e-mail body.
Do i have to send again?
2- At the subject i wrote “Case number: 2020Eu0000***”
Should i write only the case number or it is ok?
February 25, 2020 at 19:47
1. No
2. That was correct when sending to the kccdocuments address.
February 25, 2020 at 15:11
Did current public charge affect the dv holder or not kindly suggest us
February 25, 2020 at 15:24
The new public charge rule did not affect most DV cases.
February 25, 2020 at 15:52
Do DV winners re required to submit DS5540. Thanks.
February 25, 2020 at 19:39
Generally no – although DV Adjustment of Status cases now have a new form.
February 25, 2020 at 22:53
Hey Brit, our embassy (Kigali) we have been requested to fill the form 5540. (Public charge questionnaires )We need more video explaining on how to complete that form. They can not approve your Visa without this form.
February 25, 2020 at 23:55
Just go through the form question by question.

Hi Simon,
So if I understood well, all of us who have not received confirmation email from KCC that documents have been processed, should send these documents to that other mail, regardless of our CN or time to become current, right? For example, I’ve got high EU number, I have submited DS-260 and documents in November but haven’t received any feedback yet. I should send the that same set of the documents to that new address as well?
February 25, 2020 at 15:32
Yes. With a high case number you won’t have time for mistakes.
February 25, 2020 at 15:35
Thanks so much for the response.
February 25, 2020 at 15:35
Hello Simon,
thank you for your help.
After reading your article, yesterday I sent all the requested documents also to KCC.
I am EU27xxx , I’m the only applicant. Sent my Biographic passport, original birth certificate and police certificate plus certified english translations as you explained.
In the subject line I put my case number and on the email ,together with all the documents ,my full name and date of birth.
This is their answer:
Thank you for your inquiry.
For security purposes, KCC cannot reveal any information regarding your case if you cannot provide all the required information. Please provide the Principal Applicant’s information listed below.
What required documents do they need?
Thanks
February 25, 2020 at 15:40
Sorry, I meant “Required information” in order for them to reveal any information regarding my case
February 25, 2020 at 19:37
It may be your case number was not complete. KCC want the full case number with leading zeros. You can also call them.
February 25, 2020 at 21:44
Maybe that’s the case, even though I checked so many times and everything seems okay.
To make sure I sent another email highlighting my complete case number, complete name and birth date.
If the problem persists, as you suggested, I’ll call them tomorrow
Thank you as always!!!
