Please read this important update after I spoke with KCC on February 24.
I spoke directly to the KCC staff and checked the best way to handle the documents situation for those that are not certain their documents are processed (see below).
KCC confirmed that they cannot see document status until the case is current. That is a change from the previous situation where the KCC staff at least could check that documents were received and being processed. There is separation between the teams and the systems. So – the regular KCC staff may not be able to provide good updates at this time.
The representative told me the best idea for cases where you are NOT certain your documents are satisfactory is to send the documents to the KCCDV team at this email address – KCCDV@state.gov
Make sure your case number is in the subject line, and include your name and birthdate in the email body. If you are attaching the documents make sure you attach the whole complete set of documents as described in this LINKED article about the document procedure.
KCC will check if your case is currently being scheduled and will inform you if that is the case with an email that says “you are current for scheduling“.
This update is about the documents. It is important for those cases not yet scheduled to make sure they have sent the correct documents AND that those documents have been processed, so, if you are not CERTAIN that KCC has processed your documents you need to check with KCC and ask them whether they are satisfied with your documents.
By now KCC should have asked everyone to submit documents, so if you have not been asked you might have missed the email. So – whether you have received the email asking for documents or not – you now need to send them.
The full instructions on what documents to send and how to send them are in this link.
You ca also watch the video below to get more information.

Hi Brit, just an update, I sent my docs to KCC like you suggested, and recieved this email the following day:
Thank you for your inquiry.
The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to [email protected].
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.
I wonder what’s this “interim report” where they let you know your DS-260 alone has been processed…
February 25, 2020 at 18:57
Same Answer to me.
Nothing about DOC processed

Hello Brit!!! I send my documents ago 17 2019, and I receive the confitmation e-mail at ago 20 2019!!!
Dear LUIS:
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.
Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin in October 2019 and conclude on September 30, 2020. Please refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
Do you think that I need to check my status? thanks in advance!!!

February 25, 2020 at 19:47
Slow down. For now, you have done what you can. Now wait.
February 25, 2020 at 18:50
Hi,
Mr.Britsimon , I hope you are doing well as it’s our best prayer ?
Something over here that gives me sleepless nights! Police Certs. honestly I got the rest as per the required docs but that particular one from Iraq, has given me a huge challenge….But i remember where Kcc said ” if anybody fails to obtain any doc, make it clear and give a detailed reason as to why? while in a pdf format, together with the rest, attach and send to them.”
Mr. BritSimon , as the last resort , if I take that way, my case number can be saved? (2020AF66***)
Truly, I have followed all your incredible piece of advises as per docs are concerned, and that particular one, proved so much hard.
Thank you so much!
February 25, 2020 at 19:52
You can try sending proof that you have tried to obtain the PC.
February 25, 2020 at 19:07
Hi,
Maybe my message helps. I have EU42xxx. Sent my documents for the first time in november and today( to KCCDV). I have received an e-mail saying that I should verify my entry again at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov, and so I did. I read carefully and it actually states that I have completed DS260 for each member of my family and I have sent all the required documents, and that I have to wait for further e-mails from KCC. So, maybe it is a goo idea to verify your entry, just as we all did when we were informed that we won the lottery.
good luck everybody and thank you Simon
February 25, 2020 at 23:25
where did you read that in your entrance?
February 26, 2020 at 10:09
Yes
February 26, 2020 at 05:44
what do you mean by verifying…..do you mean checking 1nl again
February 25, 2020 at 19:24
“Your case will not be scheduled for an interview appointment until a visa number is available, you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided copies of all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). You will receive document submission instructions by e-mail after KCC processes and accepts the DS-260 application forms for you and any accompanying family members. If you are scheduled for an interview, you will receive an e-mail notification message. ”
This was the message when I verified my entry. I think it applies to high case numbers.
February 25, 2020 at 19:55
That does NOT mean they have processed your documents.
February 25, 2020 at 21:19
I am aware of that. Thank you! I will receive an email when they are done processing.
February 25, 2020 at 19:30
Hi
Would it be a problem if I forward the documents e-mail ,which was sent before to [email protected],to [email protected]
Kind Regards
February 25, 2020 at 19:58
Did you read the article above???
February 25, 2020 at 20:01
Oppsss I didnt see “Who are not certain” sorry for my excitement
February 25, 2020 at 19:59
Hi
Would it be a problem if I FORWARD the documents e-mail, which was sent before to [email protected] to [email protected]
kind regards
February 25, 2020 at 20:35
No. As long as the attachments stay attached.
February 25, 2020 at 20:03
Hi Simon,
Does it makes sense to do this check with kcc dv if I sent the kcc documents a week ago?
If not, when would be an appropriate time?
Thanks.
February 25, 2020 at 20:37
No – wait a month or so.
February 25, 2020 at 20:19
hi Brit. My number is EU 30XXX. Should I resend my documents nów or should I wait a month? (I sent the documents for the first time in October)
February 25, 2020 at 20:37
Now.
February 26, 2020 at 08:10
Hi Britt I am CN 311** I have the same question. Should I send dhe documents again or should I wait. I send dhe documents in 21 October and they respond with automatic email. What can I do now?
February 26, 2020 at 08:14
Eu 311**
February 26, 2020 at 22:12
I suggest you follow the advice in red above.
February 25, 2020 at 21:38
Hello Brit,
I did as what you said, i sent my documents to Kccdv and asked them if my documents are satisfied because i didn’t receive an email that confirms my documents are processed , and they replied to me that they’re no authorized to tell me if the documents are good or not amd i should send my documents to kccdocument. So now what should i do?
MY CN is AS29XXX
Thanks in advance
February 25, 2020 at 23:53
If you had already sent the documents then maybe you just wait some weeks. Your case number is high- so no need to rush around “doing” things at the moment.
February 25, 2020 at 23:42
Hey Brit Simon, I am from Albania and when submitting the documents to KCCDocuments back in Nov-December…all of them were submitted by email as per instruction except the Police Record/Certificate…which was sent directly to the US Consular Office in Tirana from the Post Office…as a security measure that the document doesn’t get falsified. Is that ok?
February 25, 2020 at 23:57
Yes – that is the process for that one embassy – it would have been wise to call that out for KCC – although they should know.
February 26, 2020 at 12:43
It’s the same in my country. When you say “call that out for KCC”, how do u mean? Because obviously emails and phone calls regarding docs yield pretty much nothing with them at the moment…
February 26, 2020 at 22:22
Make it clear with the list of documents.
February 26, 2020 at 22:48
I already sent all my docs, with the reciept of the request form for police certificate. Do you think I should send another email with explanation?
February 26, 2020 at 23:05
There is no harm in doing that.
February 26, 2020 at 05:38
I have sent the documents to the new email account above , they replied…………
The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to [email protected].
I think I am safe now
February 26, 2020 at 05:59
Hi Brit! We’ve sent documents to KCCDV, as your update says, and the answer was: “The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to [email protected].”
So we still can’t check if they are satisfied with the documents until CN becomes current. And for the high numbers at last months this info will be crucial! There won’t be enought time for postponing interviews like now. Considering they don’t say what is wrong, but you should guess it yourself…
February 26, 2020 at 22:02
You’re not really understanding. If they were already satisfied, they would tell you so as a response to this email. So – not getting that answer is an answer of sorts. And, by re-sending the documents, you have reduced risk that the first set of documents had some problem.
February 26, 2020 at 11:53
Greetings Brit ,two questions about new system of checking docs:1.for example my cn becomes current in july for september interviews ,but since the new system doesnt process docs before the cn becomes current ,and i get the confirmation on same month how could i get scheduled for september when usually when you get confirmation you get 2 nl next month not same month, and all of these taking in consideration the fact that I sent docs months earlier to both emails of kcc ?2. with the new system how can kcc decide how many people have sent docs when they dont check documents in advance case numbers, and how decides how many cn to make current and to increase visa bulletin? sorry for writing to long but mind cant stop thinking of all possible situations ,thanks
February 26, 2020 at 22:17
Wow that’s a confusing note.
The point is – you should not delay submission of your documents.
February 26, 2020 at 11:58
Hello Britsimon,
Thank you for all your posts about the DV lottery. I have been periodically checking your blog posts and youtube videos, and they are all very helpful.
I have a question about the required documents, specifically the police certificate from the US. I am an entrant winner from Asian region who has lived in the United States in the past for more than a year – Do I need to submit police certificates from the United States?
To find an answer, I looked up on travel.state.gov website and it said “… Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.”. However I was unsure about the exact definition of “residents” and I could not find detailed information on your website, so your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
February 26, 2020 at 22:20
No police certs needed for US.
February 26, 2020 at 13:10
Hi Simon, than you for your continued assistance. I sent my documents in November last year but KCC is yet to confirm to me if they are complete or not. Is there any harm in sending them the documents again? My CN is AF00053XXX
February 26, 2020 at 22:25
Would I tell people to do something that caused harm???
February 26, 2020 at 14:46
Hi BritSimon,
May God keep you always and give you much of strength and time to educate us for such great and God given opportunity.
Our CN is 2020AF00063…;that I forwarded my DS-260 late May last Year and also meant to follow up with required documents on mid Sep, 2019 without being requested. I’ve never been requested to send my documents
As I listened to your 24th post about confirming from KCC, I personally called them and a lady who picked assured me that our documents i.e. DS-260 has been processed awaiting to be current for interview scheduling.
Am always close to your good and helpful advise as far as this Green Card issue is concern however far end we’re,I believe and trust God has a purpose for us to be picked as GC winners.
We are a family of 3: I,my wife and son.
May God stand in for us.
Many thanks.
February 26, 2020 at 22:28
It is sometimes said that God works in mysterious ways. That must be true because she picked an atheist to write this blog. 😉
February 26, 2020 at 15:33
Hi Simon,
My case number is EU41XXX. After sending my documents in October I received an automatic reply saying “The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email and is currently processing your documents.”
After 6 weeks I emailed them asking if my documents are processed and received an email saying “Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing.”
So, should I send my documents again as you’ve explained above?
February 26, 2020 at 22:29
Your choice. It certainly can’t harm.
February 26, 2020 at 18:09
Dear Brit Simon,
Today I’ve sent all documents again to both of the KCC mails (KCCDV and KCCDVdocuments), and got back 2 mails.
First mail from KCCDV with text –
“Thank you for your inquiry. The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department”
Second mail (automatic) from KCCDVdocuments with text –
“The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email and is currently processing your documents…. You should expect an email from KCC in the next 3-6 weeks” (i have sent documents first time in Nov.)
My questions,
Is this good dear Brit Simon, and they have my documents? (seen them)
Is there anything i should do or only wait?
Thank you so much.
February 26, 2020 at 22:35
1. Yes
2. Just wait.
February 26, 2020 at 23:00
Dear Brit Simon , Sorry i have just been shocked, please help with advice if possible:
In Nov, and Today also, 2 time when i have sent the documents IN SOME WAY i have written wrong file name for 2 certificates. i Mean :
2020EU*******_Husband name surename_Document name (but the file is for Wife) and vice versa((
Only 2 documents names wrong.
Can you give any advice?
Thank you very much.
February 26, 2020 at 23:05
The file names won’t stop them processing documents if they are reasonably clear.
February 26, 2020 at 23:22
Thank you so much dear Brit Simon!!!
One the very last question regarding – document procedures.
My all documents that are attached all in native language except the Marriage Certificate (it has originally also English in it).
When we received e-mail about which documents should be sent, there was not written about the translation of documents.
Do i need to do translations , and change the wrong file names and send the docs again after lets say a week? Do i need that?
February 27, 2020 at 00:42
You need translations IF the language at the embassy is not the same as the documents you have.
February 27, 2020 at 07:56
Thank you SO MUCH dear Brit Simon for your support.
With God’s help if we get to USA in the end, I will do all to meet you and personally show my deep appreciation dear Brit Simon.
February 26, 2020 at 23:29
Hi Simon,
I just came across an article about a new law or other thing that is effective from this week. In the article it basically says you can be denied a Green Card just because you will apply for it… yes that is correct, that works on a basis that you as an immigrant can require at some point the US goverment help. It works just like the public charge rule as I understand it.
The article is quite interesting maybe you can comment on it or make a video how you see it, and do you think it will affect people applying or trying to extend theie green cards? I am a winner of the 2019 GC Lottery and currently live in Chicago US, this is also because this blog and your help.

February 27, 2020 at 00:46
That article is jumping to an invalid conclusion regarding the catch 22. It refers to a previous application with a waiver of fees – which is where someone says they are too poor to pay the fees – and in that specific case that factor would weigh against that person. Well yeah – that sounds logical.
Regarding the rest of the law I am working on some explanations which I will release asap.
February 27, 2020 at 00:01
Hi Mr Brit, a green card winner from Cameroon told me he has been scheduled for the month of August. I was so confused since the last visa bulletin as of now is at April
1) pls sir, can that be true?
February 27, 2020 at 00:47
No. That person may be being scammed.
February 27, 2020 at 01:33
Hi Britsimon,
Just a concern please:
Am TOM WANJALA ORIECH but when I applied, I mistakenly wrote TOM ORIECH ORIECH. Does this have any negative effect please?
For my wife’s and son’s names are well written as per documents
February 27, 2020 at 20:29
If you corrected that in the DS260 that would normally not cause a problem (unless there are fraud concerns).
February 27, 2020 at 20:45
Ooh thank you.True I rectified on DS 260 and absolutely nothing like a fraud at all sir.
Am advised to obtain an affidavit on the for the issue. Please is it necessary?
February 27, 2020 at 20:50
That is up to you to decide.
February 27, 2020 at 07:27
hi brit
i want to ask you a question
when i sent the documents i sent it with the email or i got the message from kcc (the one for the lottery registration) not the one i got put in the ds260 is that its cause no problem
February 27, 2020 at 20:33
No problem.
February 27, 2020 at 15:29
what happened to the blocking of states?
February 27, 2020 at 20:46
Huh?
February 28, 2020 at 18:43
blocking of states by cotravirus
February 28, 2020 at 19:57
Still no idea what you are asking.
February 27, 2020 at 15:29
Helo brit
I received documents confirmation e mail few weeks back.my case no 2020As186**.
This is the part of the content…..
Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.
Now it is ok? I’m waiting my 2nl now .I think on may.
February 27, 2020 at 17:31
Hello,
If you don’t mind, when did you send your documents ? Which country ?
My case Is not far from yours and yet I didn’t receive a confirmation email.
February 28, 2020 at 05:05
Hi ,
I sent documents in november end and received confirmation email in end of january.
February 27, 2020 at 20:47
Yes – just waiting to be current now.
February 28, 2020 at 05:03
Thanks brit
February 27, 2020 at 19:04
Hi Mr Brit, I did as you suggested about documents, asking kcc if they were satisfied with my documents. This is the third time am scanning and resending and this is their response below:
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send a scanned or photographed explanation in of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to [email protected], with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States should collect the civil documents that are required to support your visa application.
Passport Biographic Page: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of a currently valid passport. The………
I did the naming just as you said.,as attachment.
1) I wish to ask if i should photocopy the biographical page before scanning or I should just scan directly on the page and continue with the naming procedure?
February 27, 2020 at 20:54
I don’t understand your question.
February 27, 2020 at 21:43
Since I have been sending documents to kcc and none of their replies says they are satisfied with my documents. I don’t know if am doing the right thing. My question is
1) should i photocopy my passport, i. e the biographic page before scanning? Or i should just open the page carrying my photo and scan before I send to kcc as attachment.
2) i have followed your procedure to name documents but kcc tells me I should name my documents promptly
February 27, 2020 at 21:17
Good morning Brit, I was an au pair in USA on J1 visa. I spent there 1 year. I came back to my country 1 Month ago. Will I need provide Police Certificate from USA? I am completing my documents right now to send to KCC next week. My case number is EU29***.
February 27, 2020 at 22:52
No police certs needed for the USA.
February 27, 2020 at 21:18
Hello Mr. Brit. First of all thanks for the useful information provide to all of us. My case number 2020EU43XXX. I have already sent my documents to [email protected] on October 2019 and got a confirmation but as you proposed, I will sed the documents to [email protected].
I am wondering that should I send the same documents to Kccdv as the date of October or should I get new documents with today’s date. Thanks for your help.
February 27, 2020 at 22:52
The documents would generally not change – but if document procedures are different in your country – then apply some common sense.
February 27, 2020 at 21:44
Since I have been sending documents to kcc and none of their replies says they are satisfied with my documents. I don’t know if am doing the right thing. My question is
1) should i photocopy my passport, i. e the biographic page before scanning? Or i should just open the page carrying my photo and scan before I send to kcc as attachment.

February 27, 2020 at 22:10
1. You scan the biographic page itself. That is where the photo and other information resides.
2. Promptly means “soon”.
February 28, 2020 at 04:18
Dear Sir Simon,
I am Chetra with CN 2020AS00029XXX from Cambodia. I already submitted my DS-260 form since 24-10-19 and got COMPLETED for me and my other family member.
I send my supporting documents to KCC since 15-11-19 and got replied from KCC as below:
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email and is currently
processing your documents. This email address, [email protected], is
only used for applicants to provide the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) with
documents required to continue processing Diversity Visa applications.
[email protected] does not respond to inquiries. If you have any
Diversity Visa related questions, please email [email protected] with your
case number, complete name, and date of birth, as entered on your original
entry.
You should expect an email from KCC in the next 3-6 weeks. If you do not
hear from KCC after 6 weeks, please contact [email protected] to confirm all
of your documents have been received, and you are ready to be scheduled for
an interview.
———-
Then I send e-mail to KCC again on 06-01-20 to ask them that they received my e-mail or not, I got replied from KCC as below:
Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin in October 2019 and will conclude on September 30, 2020. KCC cannot provide information as to when an interview date may become available for your case. Interviews are scheduled numerically according to assigned case numbers which have completed processing. The Department of State designates how many interviews will be scheduled each month according to visa availability. You may refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov for the list of current numbers. This information is updated on the 15th day of each month thereafter.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
———-
Should I send e-mail to KCC again to ask them about my documents?
Regards,
Thanks Chetra …

There is no harm in checking again.

Hello Brit! Thank you for doing a brilliant job! I feel your support and appreciate it!
As per you mentioned in this post, I have contacted KCC to check if my documents have been processed. Case number EU25***
Got a same reply like I’ve got after submitting documents. It says if you haven’t received any message please be patient because KCC can’t give any information untill number becomes current.
Should I do something else (it seems I’m getting just an automatic reply with same text) or just be patient? (Sorry for this type of question I know you are tired of answering them)
Thank you in advance, your blog is and ultimate guide for a lot of DV lottery winners! Keep it up!

You might want to call them – or wait – it’s up to you.
February 28, 2020 at 08:39
I have received answer:
“Thank you for your inquiry.
The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to [email protected].
Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.”

Hi Britt!Hope you’re doing fine.
My cn is EU236** and I’ve submitted my documents for the first time on October 2019,and as I haven’t received any confirmation email from them,I called KCC on 19 February. The miss on the phone told me she couldn’t give informations until I’ll be current. She suggested me to resend my docs to [email protected] I resubmitted on 25 February again to [email protected] , and I received only the following email :
Thank you for your inquiry.
The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to [email protected].
I know a lot of people from Europe region, have already received the confirmation email about their documents.Do you think I’m a little bit late as I haven’t received it?I mean I have to wait 3-6 weeks or what?Sorry for my questions but right now I’m being a little anxious as I’m not hearing nothing from Kcc.
Thanks in advance!

It’s likely you missed some document in October. Otherwise they should really have completed it by now. So – it’s good you sent it again and you can check progress in a few weeks.

Please make your questions clear.

I have a technical question. If a large number of interviews gets cancelled for people from a specific country due to Coronavirus and postponed until a later time in the future will this impact cut-off number for that country in next visa bulletin? I mean the progress of visa bulletin will become slower due to this fact?

Hey Simon,
I asked KCC if they are satisfied with my documents and that’s the response:
“Thank you for your inquiry.
For April, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2020 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:”
My case number EU28XXX. I sent the documents more than 5 weeks ago. When should I ask them again ?
Thanks in advance !
March 2, 2020 at 00:26
3 or 4 weeks.
March 2, 2020 at 09:05
Dear Simon
I submitted documents to the kccdvdocuments email address in Nov last year and on the 20th Feb, I received the following: “Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current.”
My case number is 2020AF39***. I see that the April Visa Bulletin number goes up to AF41000. Does that mean that I should expect to get a 2NL by the 30th April for an interview sometime in May or later?
Many thanks for the useful information on your site.
March 2, 2020 at 19:00
You will get a 2NL in late March for a May interview.
March 2, 2020 at 12:49
i was current for feb and still no 2NLs from KCC. When i checked at ceac they give “AT NVC”. So i mailed them about my concern yesterday (1.3.2020). Can i expect this week?
March 2, 2020 at 19:45
No 2NLs will be sent this week.
March 2, 2020 at 14:49
Dear Brit,
My case number is AF45***. I just received an email from KCC confirming that I have sent all the required documents and ready for scheduling for Interview when my case number becomes current.
My question is I’m certain that my case will become current on the next VB that being on the month of May. Do you think i should expect the 2NL this month for May interview or the next month.
Thank you!
March 2, 2020 at 20:47
The processing might have been too late for March interviews – wait and see.
