June 12, 2015 at 15:16
Just got a question regarding 2NLs. well, I’m current for August and wondering if it’s 100% guaranteed to have the interview in August?! Asking this because I remember that I read in some of your posts that there’s a backload to clear…
A billion thanks in advance for your feedback!
June 12, 2015 at 15:22
It is 100% certain IF you submitted your DS260 in good time (before about February).
June 12, 2015 at 15:27
Yes, I did in June 2014. Thanks alot Mr Simon!
June 12, 2015 at 16:57

Hi there BritSimon,I’m really sorry if you have answered this a million times before, but i just red the “am i safe post” and am still struggling to make sense of this all. My case number is AF00020xxx , should I have been contacted for an interview already or will that still happen? I guess im just getting a little nervous as i have allot resting on this whole thing.
Thanks for an amazing blog!
June 12, 2015 at 23:13
Are you DV2015 or DV2016?
June 12, 2015 at 23:23
June 12, 2015 at 23:33
Right – so all the comments you are reading relate to DV2015 cases – your case won’t be at this point until early next year.
June 13, 2015 at 14:11
I am refering to the visa bulletin for month of June http://www.travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin/2015/visa-bulletin-for-june-2015.html
But sorry, I cannot see any thing specific to Nepal. So how do you derive this number 7150 ?
Also, for Egypt, travel state site shows, the figure as : 24,675; but you mentioned here 28700. How do you find these numbers ? please share .
June 13, 2015 at 16:14
First, yes there was a cutoff for Nepal on the VB you linked to – 6475.
Next – you are looking at an out of date VB. Better to look at the main VB page and find the latest. Then read it more carefully.
June 13, 2015 at 18:30
Simon, do you think KCC can invite newly current cases not in August, but in September?
June 13, 2015 at 18:34
In the past, interviews have been setup by KCC for the moth the case is current – then, the embassies have rescheduled cases to a later month. However, KCC based their VB on need and capacity – so those rescheduled should be isolated.
June 13, 2015 at 18:38
in the past do you mean for dv 2014 or 2015 or even earlier?
June 13, 2015 at 21:09
That has happened this year, and no doubt, previous years too…

June 14, 2015 at 02:56
They don’t “know” – they predict. Sometimes they get the prediction wrong like in DV2013 where they had to cancel a few interviews at the end of September because the limit was reached.
June 14, 2015 at 06:20
do you know if the interviews are scheduled as follows:
1) backlog numbers,
2) lower CNs in the newly current range,
3) higher number in the newly current range.
or after becoming current this sequence does not matter in the scheduled date and they all will be randomly scheduled some day in August?
June 14, 2015 at 06:34
Choice 4 – doesn’t matter.
June 14, 2015 at 06:51
thank you! looking forward to 2nl.
June 14, 2015 at 12:24
I’m comment NO 500!
June 14, 2015 at 13:40
June 14, 2015 at 19:46
Hello Simon, I hope you r doing well
You responded to someone asking whether KCC knows the exact number of visas they will issue in September :
“They don’t “know” – they predict. Sometimes they get the prediction wrong like in DV2013 where they had to cancel a few interviews at the end of September because the limit was reached.”
Then a poster named CE asked about the order at which they schedule interviews and you said the CN doesnt matter as long as the number is current.
Which means that someone with a higher CN might get interviewed before a person a lower CN ( as long as they are both current in September)
So, refering to your above mentioned response about DV2013, some of the ppl who got their interviews cancelled might have had lower CNs than ppl who got visas.
Am I right? If yes, isn’t that aginst the regulations? I am just curious 🙂
June 14, 2015 at 20:06
You are correct, and yes it would be against the “intent” of the law. However, the interviews are scheduled based on having a visa slot available so individual mistakes cannot be avoided in practical terms.
June 14, 2015 at 21:12

Hi Brit. I now noticed that when I applied the dv lottery form in october 2013, I made a mistake and I put the ZIP code of the nearby city. Like, my city’s zip code is ex. 7452 and I put 7451, but in the ds-260 I put the right one. So, whenever I login in the dv lottery website to check my interview status. in the top left corner it has the wrong zip code, while the ds-260 has the right one. Will this be a problem you think? I’m having my interview in August. Thanks

Ok hw do i know if am current ad hw do i gt to know my case number plx
July 11, 2015 at 16:51
Are you selected? If so the case number is on your letter.
July 12, 2015 at 06:14
I am trying to interpret the Visa Bulletin figures to understand the current number at travel.state.gov so that by the time it becomes current for me I can get ready for interview without any delay.
I read for July as
“B. DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH OF JULY ”
ASIA : 6,850 || Except: Nepal : 6,475
If I understand it correctly, it says: All case numbers which are below 6,850 are CURRENT in ASIA now; and can expect to get 2NL sooner(discard them who have already appeared for interview).
But for Nepal, all those who have their case number below 6,475 are CURRENT now. Please correct me !
& for August:
“B. DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST ”
ASIA : 7,650 || Except: Nepal : 7,150
So, in August, ASIA (7650 – 6850 = 800) : Hence there will be 800 cases whose numbers lying between these two cutoff figures, will be CURRENT.
and for Nepal (7150-6475 = 675): Hence there will be 675 cases whose numbers lying between these two cutoff figures, will be CURRENT.
Please correct me if I understand anything wrong here.
July 12, 2015 at 06:17
The Asia number and the Nepal number is the same number. So – there will be 800 case numbers. Not all will be valid cases, some of them will be Nepal (up to 7150).
Check the latest CEAC data to understand better.
July 12, 2015 at 06:25
Thank you very much for your prompt reply and correction to my calculation !
Is it correct that Nepal has 3,601 GC visa for DV2016 program ?
July 12, 2015 at 14:36
Nepal has 3801 SELECTEES (not GCs) for DV2016. THat means there will probably be a cutoff again for Nepal.
