This visa bulletin covers July interviews.
This is the earliest we have seen a VB released. I’m disappointed that they have not included the DV-2017 stats – they might update it in a few days….
For those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 2 (maybe 3) weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs for JULY interviews will be sent in about two or three weeks time. They will include interviews for cases that have been made current in this latest visa bulletin AND backlog cases that were already current last month but the DS260 was submitted late.
The backlog seems to be massively reduced now so progress from now on can be largely due to new VB numbers, not backlog.
Read this link if you are unsure how to read the visa bulletin.
AFRICA – 43,825(Last month 34400)
ASIA – 10550(Last month 8000)
Except Nepal – 6725(Last month 6200)
EUROPE – CURRENT (Last month 34,000) Finally!
OCEANIA – CURRENT(Last month 1100) Finally!
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN – CURRENT (Last month 1175)
Current = enough visas for the remaining demand.
GREAT NUMBERS for AF and AS regions. Super news for SA!

Hi Brit Simons
Whau! At last iam soon becoming current, my cn AF 458**. Definitely it looks like the interview will be in august. Iam asking whether this is the right time to get the affidavit of support and police documents ready? Or should I wait until the end of June.
Thanks again for the good work Brit Simons. I don’t know whether I could be this knowledgeable if it were not you.
May 7, 2016 at 18:27
You could get the AOS now if you want.
May 7, 2016 at 20:20
Rob_ZA with case no. 2016AF51xxx checking in. Man it’s gonna be tight…
May 7, 2016 at 21:42
The VB just published was a good jump. Good luck.
May 7, 2016 at 22:20
Hello Sir.
I had interview last week. but i was requested to submit background check (by mistake i submitted another type of police certificate) and i got a blue paper ( section 221g) which was mentioned lack of foreign police certificate in it .
I am in AP now . You think was it bad mistake ? How long i should wait after submitting new certificate?
May 7, 2016 at 22:26
AP time varies.
May 7, 2016 at 22:36
I mean this kind of mistake ( not submitting police certificate on interview day) is a high risk one ( based on your experience ) ?
I blame myself everyday that why i did such a crazy mistake and put myself in AP by my hands .
guide me please master.
May 7, 2016 at 23:28

Dear Brit I’m main applicant, my wife stayed in India since childhood but after attaining the age of 16 , she stayed just 3 months . Do I need to get police clearance for her
May 8, 2016 at 05:55
Technically not, but I would suggest getting one if possible.
May 8, 2016 at 07:49
Hi Brit, been patient since last year when i submitted my Ds260, Case No AF38xxx. I have this questions basing on the posts above:
1. What are these Bank Balance requirements that people are talking about? How much should it be? When exactly should one have the balance in his bank account, before or after the interview?
2. Which other requirements should i put in place once i receive the 2NL and before the interview date?
Thanks
May 8, 2016 at 15:57
1. Read about public charge in FAQ https://britsimonsays.com/dv-faq/
2. Prepare your documents.
May 8, 2016 at 09:03
cn af4019@ filled in DS last July will I receive 2nl for July. you are blessed by God.
May 8, 2016 at 15:52

May 8, 2016 at 11:18

May 8, 2016 at 11:46
dear,sir i have some question
1.i m current for july interview from nepal my question is my current job is in one district which i mention in ds260 form and permanent address is in another district but every week i used to return home so do i need to make police report from both district i m not the principal applicant…my wife is principal applicant who is from same district before and after marriage..now she in our permanent addresss..
2.after submetting ds260 form my daughter got birth now she is 7 month both didn’t unlock ds260 form because the agent from where we fill ds260 form said that we have to inform the ambassy beform interview and attach the file of our baby with our while interview is it a simple way i m worried about that.
3.to attch our baby’ s file what should i have to do what document i have to prepare?
May 8, 2016 at 14:28
1. If in doubt, get more than is needed.
2. You should have added your child way before now. As you will be scheduled imminently you might still have time to unlock if you do it immediately. Get on with it!
3. DS260 needs no documents. For the interview you will need the child’s passport, birth cert, medical.
May 11, 2016 at 18:41
Hi brit i m from africa and m’y case number is very high, if i have an interview it will be in the late of septembre let is say in 25 septembre if my visa is approuved that means i will get my passeport after week or more which means after 31 septembre is that normal ?? thnxxx
May 11, 2016 at 18:53
Hi khiro… mine is also very high. Reach me at [email protected] we share our worries and smiles
May 11, 2016 at 19:17
People can be approved right up to the last day (September 30). That is OK – the visas can be printed after September 30 if the case was approved in time.
May 8, 2016 at 12:06
Dear , Birt
I got a new passport with a new number , the one i filled with the DS20 is expiring on October 2015, so my question is can request for unlock to change the passport number or i continue the other one and present the new one during the interview. my case 43000 , have been scheduled for an interview in July.
Thanks
May 8, 2016 at 14:24
Just take both old and new to the interview.
May 8, 2016 at 12:28
BritSimon,
When I see the AoS package in that link you gave me, there’s a need for bank statement. How much is the minimum required amount to be there?
May 8, 2016 at 14:22
At least $10,000. But really, if you are a student or have no income, you should provide an I-134.
May 8, 2016 at 12:56
Dear Brit Simon,
Passport Status :
Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery. Does that mean my passport has been stamped with the visa already or not?
May 8, 2016 at 14:21
Would you just relax!
May 8, 2016 at 15:24
Hi Brit! Current at least! Thanks so much bigman!
May 8, 2016 at 15:57

May 8, 2016 at 18:23
I had my interview in march. It wasn’t an easy one but I was through successfully. I had my passport and visa in early April. Now preparing to leave Ghana. Thanks Brit for the guidance.
May 8, 2016 at 20:42
Congrats!
May 9, 2016 at 00:21
Hi,Brit!I’ll like to know if it’s possible for someone to sponsor two seperate families residing in different countries?Example:A sponsor sponsoring families in Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire during same dv fiscal yr.
May 9, 2016 at 02:11
Yes that is possible.
May 9, 2016 at 03:34
BritSimon,
Sorry, I am not entirely sure, if I am on the right track or not. I am now on an F-1 Visa.
So far, what I have done is, I have submitted DS-260 form back in February. My case number is current this month, 2016AS00009XXX.
So far, I have received 2 emails:
1. [email protected] – U.S. DoS – CEAC Confirmation (2016AS9XXX) that states my DS-260 has been submitted
2. [email protected] – 2016AS00009XXX Diversity Visa Adjustment Letter, that says “Attached is the Adjustment Letter, …” with 2 attachment, one attachment says “Thank you for informing us that you plan to apply for adjustment of status with U.S. Citizenship…” and the other attachment says “In order to complete payment of this fee, once the USCIS…”
So, what I am supposed to do right now is:
1. Wait for the 2NL, am I correct?
2. While waiting, I will have to put the AoS package, am I correct?
Thank you so much
May 9, 2016 at 03:47
1. You do not have to wait for a 2NL – you got it – the email in 2 above was your 2NL.
2. You should now be submitting your I-485. It is CRITICAL you do it right – so have you read the spreadsheet in Moms post below.
http://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2016-aos-only.326148/
May 9, 2016 at 04:04
Yes I have read the spreadsheets. Now carefully taking the steps and preparing the paperwork.
Do I have to include the Policy memorandum for early filling?
May 9, 2016 at 05:55
I would. I actually put it as the first sheet and used a highlighter to call out the early filing bit. Rejection does happen (incorrectly), but it’s rare.
May 9, 2016 at 06:03
Hello Mr. Brits,
I have an issue; based to my case no I may be current next month. I am living in South Africa, originary from Cameroon. The problem I have is I applied for police clearance which already expired, and I cannot apply for another one because my passport was stolen, and it takes 3 months to get a new passport. So if I go current next month I would not be able to wait for the passport here in south Africa and still apply for another police clearance because I will have to go back to Cameroon prepare other documents. Can I keep the old police clearance and all the statement from the police to show at the time of my interview?
Thanks
May 9, 2016 at 06:20
If you have no other choice, then yes – but obviously there is a risk they insist on a new one.
May 9, 2016 at 07:21
Thanks
May 9, 2016 at 06:20
Hy brit do u think that nepal will get 7%visa? And my another question is that would asia as well as nepal will go current? Plz brit sir explain .
May 9, 2016 at 06:23
I don’t know. We have to wait and see…
May 9, 2016 at 07:57
Hi Brit, will i get a chance AS115xx
May 9, 2016 at 16:36
You have to quote the year…
May 9, 2016 at 08:10
hi brit,
Good day.my interview was successful and i got my visa already.Actually i was interviewed at my current country of resident where i am studying for my my postgraduate degree. Now i wish to request for a visa transfer from the us embassy where i am resident for study to us embassy in cameroon where my wife lives sothat they could join me. The us embassy in my area of resident ask me to filled form ds~3098 and sign then attached a written letter by me authorising this transfer and send to the us embassy yaounde by email or mail.then the embassy in yaounde will contact them requesting this transfer.i have done that already.Given that we are still leaved with 5months for the dv2016 to close and visas may run short by september 30th. what do you advice me to do.when i contact kcc they said my case has all been transfer to the us embassy where i got my visa, that i should contact them and the us embassy in cameroon to negotiate the transfer.Pls some words of wisdom from you.thks.
May 9, 2016 at 16:35
I would have advised you to interview together. Now all you can do is follow the advice of the embassy as they have told you.
May 9, 2016 at 08:52
Hi brits am current for july interview , my question is when i was doing my entry in 2014 i stated an address that i was expecting to stay in the same town but after the entry my mind change so i never relocated, so when i was filling my DS-260 form i state that i have never lived any other place apart from my current address which i have been living since i was born. would that be any problem during my interview.
May 9, 2016 at 16:33
No.
May 9, 2016 at 10:53
Hi, I have been selected for for DV2017 and have case number is 2017OC000000XX is that considered as a low case number. When would possible interview be scheduled.
May 9, 2016 at 15:09
Yes it is low – OC numbers will probably go up to about 1000.
Could be an October interview IF you have submitted your DS260 already.
May 9, 2016 at 12:49
Hi Brit am trying to check my status but am being told that the information is not valid from the ESC site…what can be the problem coz am 2016af37xxx
May 9, 2016 at 14:31
Use the eDV confirmation code for the ESC site.
May 9, 2016 at 13:33
Hello Brit
I have a question, they have told me that despite having enough financial support would be good to carry a form I-134, which has to be filled family member or acquaintance who is a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Other people tell me that the form is not the I-134 if the I-864,. What would be your recommendation?
May 9, 2016 at 14:25
If you are DV lottery case it MNUST be the I-134, NOT the I-864. I am certain.
May 9, 2016 at 14:00
Hae Brit. What amount of time is one given to prepare after receiving a visa?Should everyone who recieves the visa be in USA before 30 September?
May 9, 2016 at 14:24
No you have up to 6 months to enter after the medical/interview – even if that goes past 30 September.
May 9, 2016 at 14:33
hello
Im from algeria some of my documents are in french language must I translate to English or french is ok fo US embassy in algeria
thanks
May 9, 2016 at 16:21
Documents should be translated into English OR the OFFICIAL local language of the embassy.
May 9, 2016 at 14:59
my husband is in AP for almost 171 days
i send an email in Friday two times, but the embassy doesn’t replay me and my case isn’t update
again today i send and email but like before my case doesn’t update and they didn’t replay my email
why is it happening ?
is it normal ?
May 9, 2016 at 16:19
I don’t know why it is happening in your specific case. You simply have to wait.
May 9, 2016 at 15:21
Hi Brit,
I am getting worried now. I had my interview on the first day of December 2015. I was placed on AP. Up to now I have not heard anything from the embassy. Does DV AP take more then 8 months to clear? Pls advice.
May 9, 2016 at 16:17
In rare cases it can take that long.
May 9, 2016 at 15:33
Brit Buenos dias, I need you clarify some doubts me please
1- My case this current case my number is SA14XX, send my DS260 in Mayo2015. my appointment must be in July or should I wait between July and September to be called?
2- We are a family group of 3 people, we have accounts and credit cards in the US, as we should have in $$ login to not need a sponsor?
thanks Miles
May 9, 2016 at 16:16
1. July
2. It depends on the assets you can show – at least $25,000 in liquid assets (credit cards are debt, not assets)
May 9, 2016 at 16:05
Hello Simon… my birth certificate is missing the name of my dad… it was inadvertently omitted during the printing but the one for mum is written. Can I swear an affidavit for it to be accepted during the interview ? Gracias.
May 9, 2016 at 16:15
It will be accepted for the immigration purposes, but it indicates that you were born illegitimate. The downside of that is only that you will have a more difficult time proving your relationship with your father IF you ever want to sponsor him.
If it is incorrect, you should obtain a corrected birth cert.
May 9, 2016 at 16:17
you didn’t answer my question
my husband is in AP for almost 171 days
i send an email in Friday two times, but the embassy doesn’t replay me and my case isn’t update
again today i send and email but like before my case doesn’t update and they didn’t replay my email
why is it happening ?
is it normal ?
May 10, 2016 at 01:19
DV math of 2016 in AS region made me bit confused in comparision between two large selectee countries. Nepal has 3802 seletee and bears first selection cut off below 7100 cases while Iran has 4501 selected spread within 7500 cases. Probably all Iranian cases go current for July VB because AS has 10550 cases current. Is it an effect of higher Nepalese response rate or we can conclude “lottery is a luck not a math”.
May 10, 2016 at 01:26
Both countries had more entries than needed, so both were limited during the draw. Nepal had more entries than iran, so got limited sooner. Nepal processes in one embassy whereas Iranians have at least 3 embassies. Nepalese cases are usually approved whilst Iran frequently go on AP. It us all understandable and math works…
May 10, 2016 at 02:05
Hello Simon,
I submitted my DS-260 and then got married, My interview had been scheduled in Feb-2016, my husband never completed his DS-260 and he came with me to the interview. when arrived we payed the visa fees for both of us…
I understood from other selectees that if there is a negative answer, it will be given to me at the same day, but the lady said to me, congrats, i will unlock your DS-260 so you can add your husband,
just a request for an information so far, if I was dismissed, as I know the final decision will be given to me the same day even if it is negative. please advise and thanks.
regards and good luck everyone.
May 10, 2016 at 02:42
People are sometimes refused at a later date, but that is rare.
May 10, 2016 at 03:19
Hello Mr. Brit Simon,
My CN AF44XXX, is likely to go current next month for August interview and in preparation of the required documents, I got some few clarifications that I should like to check with you.
1. Is it necessary or rather recommended for my relative in the US to back up a written letter for US consulate along with Form I-134, Affidavit of Support?
2. Is my relative too also supposed to provide me with his/her bank statements?
3. If my relative got tangible assets such as owns a house in the US, can he/she also furnish me with evidence copy documents?
4. Under Item Number 3 of the Form I-134: I am presently residing in Qatar but my interview will be in my home country (Nairobi, Kenya), prior to my interview appointment, I will be back home, now in this case, should it read home country or Qatar? This is because DS 260 reflects my home country submitted May 25, 2015 prior to moving to Qatar.
5. In addition to that, can I include one more financial statement from a guarantee from my home country with written letter, explaining his/her intentions to support me? Or this could bring complications?
6. PAYMENT – The total fee for an Immigrant Visa (IV) is USD $325.00 per person or the local currency equivalent. The total fee for a Diversity Visa (DV) is USD $330.00 per person. Each applicant must be prepared to pay this fee on the appointment date if the petitioner (your sponsor) did not pay at NVC prior to your interview date. What is the difference between Immigrant Visa (IV) visa fee and Diversity Visa (DV) fee? And which of the two applies to DV case winners?
Thank you and looking forward to hearing back from you!
May 10, 2016 at 03:50
1. No. The I-134, W2/1040, payslips, ID.
2. No.
3. No, it should be based on income.
4. Whatever makes sense.
5. If the I-134 is good, that is all that is needed.
6. $330
May 10, 2016 at 03:33
Hi Brit, will i get a chance 2016AS115xx.
May 10, 2016 at 03:48
I don’t know.
May 10, 2016 at 11:12
Thank You SIMON on’es again
I got one problem where by i m not having the police certificate of Uganda, i m constrained by the lack finance and the visa , is it applicable if i ask the police for their embassy in Somalia.
May 10, 2016 at 13:31
All I can say is follow the instructions on the reciprocity page.
May 10, 2016 at 11:20
Hello Simon,
Is it possible to put the principal on AP and the derivative get approved (issued a Visa)? has this ever happened? and if Yes, What will happen to the derivative at the end if the principal en is never updated?
May 10, 2016 at 13:30
NO that is not possible.
May 10, 2016 at 14:34
I think this is very miserable year for iranian cases , they all goes on ap except few visa issuance, I myself went on interview around 3 months ago ,after 90 days still no update , and this is not just me it’s about all iranian I’m wonder why they’re doing this to us
May 10, 2016 at 15:42
It is the same as each year. Iranian cases are highly likely to go on AP. There is no need to wonder why, your country/government is aggressive toward the USA and will not co-operate with the USA. So – the USA has security concerns about Iranians. Surely that cannot be a surprise?????
May 10, 2016 at 14:48
Does it mean they use excess of winners from Africa and Asia to fill unfilled quota for other regions?
May 10, 2016 at 15:39
We don’t know for sure.
May 10, 2016 at 14:55
Good day Brit,
Please I need some clarification. My case number is AF44xxx.
We won the Dv lottery as a family. We have a two years old son. My questions are;
We did our civil wedding in August 2014 before we entered the Dv lottery program. We have the photos of our civil wedding and marriage certificate. We also have pictures of our child from birth up till present. We also have pictures we took as family. I have documented all these photos to prove that we are married and live happily with our child. Will these be OK to prove that we are a bonafide family ?
We will get current next month and we want to be absolutely sure we are prepared.
I have my High School Diploma and all other required civil documents.
Please we need some advice.
May 10, 2016 at 15:38
Yes, take the proof you describe.
Also – read the dvselectee instructions to make sure you are prepared correctly.
May 10, 2016 at 14:56
HI BRIT
MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE COME OUT IN PROGRAM SELECTED DV LOTTERY 2016, OUR CASE NUMBER IS 2016SA000143X, WE ARE WAITING TO RECEIVE THE 2NL. But I have several questions for you. I HAVE READ YOUR ARTICLES AS MY DATE SHOULD LEAVE FOR JULY, IN QUESTION ARE:

3. COLLECTING THE DOCUMENTATION THAT WAS ALL THIS TIME, passport, birth certificates, marriage certificate. THE HAVE TO TAKE THAT DAY, THERE WAS A KCCDV to send her? ..
I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME.
REGARDS,
May 10, 2016 at 15:37
1. https://britsimonsays.com/faq/what-does-the-2nl-look-like/
2. Wait.
3. You take documents to your interview, unless instruction otherwise by the embassy.
May 10, 2016 at 15:09
Dear Brit Simon,
After a long and anxious wait, I finally got my passport with my visa today. Thanks for your guidance. I have several qns to ask though. If i pay the 165$ online for the green card approx. 1 month before I go to USA, will it be ready/ almost ready when I reach there or would the green card process only activate once I physically enter USA even though I paid for it online beforehand? Lastly, I am thinking of working and studying Masters at the same time in USA. Do you have any idea if I will pay the same tuition fees as a citizen or an international student? Thank you.
May 10, 2016 at 15:34
Your Green Card production only starts when you have paid the fee AND entered. It will take 2 to 3 months.
You will pay local tuition (not international).
