Just in the last couple of days a number of people have received an email from KCC asking for an applicant to submit the main required documents by email. This is a new procedure implemented this week. The official instructions have now been amended to include this new procedure, so it seems it will be needed by everyone. However, KCC having the documents early may allow them to increase the speed of processing later and it may make the interview process simpler. So – if you receive such an email it is safe to respond. Note, the email address being used is a legitimate email address , so as long as you are sending your documents to this address ([email protected] )
there is no concern.
The list of documents is given in the email. There is no need to ask me about these documents. The need for translations is also explained in the email.
Importantly, the email says that an interview will NOT BE SCHEDULED until these documents are sent. So – if asked to do this – get on with it!
OK, below is the text of the email, BUT DO NOT do this too early (meaning before receiving the email) because you will see that you need to supply the police cert, so you don’t want to obtain and send that until nearer the interview.
Last thing. PLEASE read the email fully before asking me questions. The email itself contains CLEAR instructions.

Case Number: 2019XX000XXXXX
Dear ************:
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents below in .jpeg or.pdf format to [email protected]. Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address; for any document processing questions use the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
You will take original or certified copies of all documents you submit to KCC to your visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate. Submit the same documents to KCC that you will take to your visa interview. Any differences between the documents you submit electronically to KCC and the originals you present at your visa interview could cause delays in processing or refusal of your visa application.
Do not mail paper documents to KCC. Any paper documents sent to KCC will be destroyed.
For more information on required documents, refer to the Department of State’s Diversity Visa webpage.
Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
• Birth certificate
• Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
If you have questions about document submission, you may contact KCC at [email protected]. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

December 26, 2020 at 17:45
No interviews are being scheduled yet.
December 25, 2020 at 09:00
Hey brit. Im a fan of what you are doing
Bear in mind that you’re appreciative man!!
If i move to other country other than mine
An I got selected.
Should I present a police cert from here(if I lived 6 months) isn’t that enough ?
Or should arrange a one from home?
Thanks in advance!
December 25, 2020 at 13:15
Brit will probably say that the police certificate from your home country is mandatory wherever you are living now. So you need the police certificate from your home country + from each country where you spent more than 6 months.
December 26, 2020 at 17:42
@Stephane. THat’s slightly incorrect.
December 26, 2020 at 17:12
You may have to provide multiple police certificates. But you should read the instructions to be clear. So do that.
December 17, 2020 at 08:02
Do not mail paper documents to KCC. Any paper documents sent to KCC will be destroyed.??
What does they mean by this , police cer and birth cer are papers by themselves ?
December 17, 2020 at 15:15
It means send SCANNED documents, not the actual documents themselves.

How should I explain to kcc that i renewed my passport for dhe ds260 after applying for the entry with the older one.. where should I write the explanation and how, thank you in advance
November 24, 2020 at 23:13

Hi Simon,
I just submitted my DS-260 for the DV-2021 yesterday, how long does it take the KCC until they ask me to submit my documents by email?
Another question please, do you think it’s too late to submit the DS-260 because I received the selection later on the 6th of June?
Thanks a lot!
October 17, 2020 at 13:56
It’s not too late, but the processing time varies. Be patient.

Hi Simon,
A friend who is a media personality has been selected among the winners of the DV lottery. He has filled his form and everything. But the problem is, he dropped out of college(high school) to start a business. Years later, he had the opportunity to enter into the media. He is now a radio presenter with so much working experience. That means, he does not have a high school certificate. Please wat are the chances that a visa will be giving to him by submitting all necessary working documents amd recommendations ? Thank you.
