This visa bulletin covers April interviews.
For those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 2 weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs for April interviews will be sent in about two weeks time. They will include interviews for cases that have been made current in this latest visa bulletin AND backlog cases that were already current last month but the DS260 was submitted late.
I have to say – these are great numbers – higher than I expected in AF in particular. Nepal and Asia have also moved on nicely.
I am chuckling at EU and OC. They have got so close to being current without actually being current. OC for example only have 10 case numbers left that are not current. Imagine being one of those 10! EU only has 18 case numbers not current. So – essentially this means EU and OC are basically current already – for April interviews.
The backlog seems to be massively reduced now so progress from now on can be largely due to new VB numbers, not backlog.
Read this link if you are unsure how to read the visa bulletin.
For those that cannot understand why the pace has slowed down, please read this post from months ago that explained the backlog effect on the VB. People should also read my analysis posts over the last week or so, and catch up with the CEASC data that I have published.
AFRICA – 23800(Last month 18700)
ASIA – 5800(Last month 4900)
Except Nepal – 5100(Last month 4350)
EUROPE – 24500(Last month 20800)
OCEANIA – 950(Last month 850)
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN – 925(Last month 800)

Sir i m current now. Submitted on may 31,never unlocked and Only one applicant. Can i expect my 2nl in two weeks.?
And sir should we enter the new confirmation number in esc site that was given in ds260 confirmation page?
February 10, 2016 at 14:25
2NL in 2 weeks just like it says above.
To get your 2NL you use your original confirmation number – not the DS260 one.

Hi simon

February 10, 2016 at 14:16
No problem at all.
February 10, 2016 at 14:06
hi simon, i had my interview and the co said my application has been approved, however when i checked my visa number on CEAC visa check it says Administrative Processing. what dose this mean?
February 10, 2016 at 14:16
AP often shows for a day or two before the case shows issued.
February 10, 2016 at 14:07
Hello Simon,
AS63** is my case number, I have the following questions please:
1- The most probable interview date is May, right?
2- When I filled DS-260 I changed the suggested interview location (embassy, country), is there any possibility that obligate me to attend the interview in an embassy(country) other than the one I have selected in DS260?
3- Actually it is a bad luck for me to have the interview scheduled at May, because I have 4 kids and all of them will have their exams in May, However, the big problem is my elder son “final low-secondary exams”, which will take place at May, the exams are supervised by government and he has to attend those exams or loss the whole year. my question, since missing my son exams is out of question, in your opinion, what is the best solution:
A- Contact the embassy and describe the situation and ask them to delay my interview 1 or 2 weeks.
B- Contact the embassy and inform them that my son will not be able to attend the interview because of the exams but the rest of the family can attend.
C- Go to the interview without my son and ask the consular if he can help in scheduling an interview for him only.
Please note that we have to travel outside the country to attend the interview because there is no USA embassy in my country, so we may spend at least 4 days and this will certainly conflicts with one or more of my son’s exams.
February 10, 2016 at 14:15
1. Yes
2. THey normally respect the original choice IF the address made that choice sensible.
3. Option D is best. Unlock the principal winner DS260 now, and leave it unlocked until the end of March. That will move the interview to June and is a much safer option than a, b or c.
February 10, 2016 at 15:04
Perfect Idea, 🙂 Thanks Simon
March 9, 2016 at 18:36
Hi Simon,
Your predictions is accurate 🙂
As you advised, I unlocked the principal DS-260 when you told me… now after releasing April visa bulletin, my number is current, Do you advice me to submit it again now or should I wait to the end of march.
your help is really appreciated … Thank you.
March 9, 2016 at 18:48
You should leave it unlocked until after the 2NLs have gone out. Please be aware that unlocking is “supposed” to mean KCC will not schedule a case. I know that to be correct and it has worked that way in the past. Their unlocking confirmation email mentions that exact point. However, over the last month I had two cases that were scheduled despite being unlocked. Because of that it might be worth sending an email to KCC saying you do not want the interview to be scheduled in May – and that is why you have unlocked.
February 10, 2016 at 15:38
I submitted mine on December 22 but case number is AF5***; when do you think will be my interview month?
February 10, 2016 at 15:55
Maybe April, Maybe May. It is hard to guess how quickly they will process your DS260 because I don’t know you…
February 10, 2016 at 15:52
hi dear , mr simon (Unlock the principal winner DS260 now, and leave it unlocked until the end of March) you give mr SAM very very a great fantastic solutions
thanks lot
February 10, 2016 at 16:42

February 10, 2016 at 17:55
If you unl,ock and correct now it won’t delay you.
You get the documents from the sponsor to take to the embassy at the interview.
February 10, 2016 at 16:51
hello brit,

February 10, 2016 at 17:54
All you can do is contact the embassy and see if they will reschedule.
February 10, 2016 at 19:29
Good afternoon BritSimon, I have a question, I was selected for the visa program, I’m from Venezuela I still have not received anything where I say my appointment was scheduled, I read that many people receive letters stating the date of the appointment. In my home and I am from Venezuela I get any mail? or where they communicate with me ?.
Waiting for your answer.
regards
February 10, 2016 at 19:39
The appointment for interview is communicated by an email which we call the 2NL. (LInk below)
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/what-does-the-2nl-look-like/
However, you will not get your 2NL until your DS260 is processed AND your case number is current. Info about case numbers below.

My brother won DV 2016 and he submitted his ds260 form on August 25 2015
His case number is Af34***
Want to know when will be his interview and when he will receive his second letter from KCC
Because it was stated that it takes up to 3 to 4 month for the case to be process and also stated that those that submitted in August and september was reply
Please tell us more
February 13, 2016 at 04:14
The form will be processed by now BUT the cases are processed in number order, according to the numbers published on the visa bulletin. Your brothers number is not “current” yet. It will probably be ready for interview around June or July.

February 10, 2016 at 21:52
Hello BritSimon,
Thanks for all the value you have added, you have become our go-to guru and I cannot imagine going through this year without the positivity and support ypu are providing. Since winning DV 2016, and through the DV 2015 results, I have been tracking your comments and analysis and noticed that you have maintained a conservative prediction for DV 2016, especially when pressed on AS predictions. Likely because last year’s results were unexpected and threw off many. Up to last month, you were presenting odds that numbers over 7000 were a risk, which I agree with. Our number is AS79xx 🙂 we feel some more hope now given this month’s nmbers. Of course, its’s not a done deal, but the shadow of risk seems to be shifting upwards. Thoughts?
February 10, 2016 at 22:19
People tend to read too much into the pace of the VBs (slow or fast pace). The cutoff is the cutoff – regardless of how fast or slow we get there. As we have seen in previous years they can hold a VB up for a region for 2 o 3 months in a row.
Now, density in AS is somewhat similar to DV2015. So – in a sense the cutoff could come around the same point as last year. Hence the conservative comments. However, visas were wasted last year in AS, so if they find a way to better handle Iranian cases we could see a higher final number. Bottom line though – until the VB released in July – all we can do is speculate – and that is why I find myself often saying “wait and see”.
February 11, 2016 at 03:05
Makes sense and thanks for spending time to provide your thoughtful response. Hope dies last (or in July :)!) so onwards we forge. I really appreciate all your inputs and will continue to follow.

February 10, 2016 at 23:40
Hi Brit
I have a situation. My wife is the principle applicant and have a case number for April interview. An old friend of my is 4 months pregnant which i manage to settle with my wife and family. Is it possible for the child to be to be a beneficiary through me? If possible is there any procedure that need to be followed?
February 10, 2016 at 23:52
No it is not possible. This is not your child – so cannot be a beneficiary.
February 11, 2016 at 11:14
Hi Brit
The pregnant is mine not another man’s.
February 11, 2016 at 14:49
OK. So, even in that case you will have a difficult time. Let’s think this through.
The interview will be in April.
If successful you will be given October to enter the USA.
The baby is due in August or September.
After the baby is born, in a normal case (where mother and father were applying for their new baby), they would need to then travel with the baby and would need a passport and birth cert for the child and a travel authorization from the US embassy. The baby would be processed at the POE.
However in your case, the embassy, or immigration officials might want DNA tests to prove the baby is yours. They would probably want proof of custody, since the birth mother will be giving up her child to you. They will obviously be highly concerned at the motivation and truth – so would probably want to interview the mother, your wife and you. If they don’t want to do that extra work for you, they may simply work slowly – which will cause you to time out. All of that would have to happen before you travel.
So – that explains the procedure – but it seems unlikely that you will do all that.
Now – I would say this – if this child is really yours, you will be able to sponsor the child later through normal family immigration. Again – they are likely to demand DNA tests – and the process would take longer – but is possible.
February 11, 2016 at 05:43
Enter your comment here…Hey Simon I checked my Iv application status and it says I should follow the NVC instructions so as to be scheduled for an interview but I never got any email from the NVC what should I do? My case number is 2016AF45** w
February 11, 2016 at 14:53
The NVC “instructions” message can be ignored. NVC is the starting status for ALL cases – so it simply means you have not been scheduled for interview yet.
Did you submit your DS260 late? Your number (4500) is low so you would have been scheduled already if you had submitted early (unless you mean your number is around 45000).
February 11, 2016 at 11:55
hi brit.i have some question about the intreview which is in the form i ..fill just as a thrid year students but now i gratuated most propabilly in june 25 for this reasone what is your advase me.my case current for apri intreview (260xx)what can i do now.10q for every thing.God bless u.
February 11, 2016 at 15:24
But you already met the education standard – correct? In that case your additional studies won’t be a problem.
February 11, 2016 at 14:02
Hi Brit,
My wife has a tuberculosis in childhood and cured perfectly. But in xray the scars still show up. Will it be a problem in medical test if yes what may be the solution, do you have any idea? Thank you in advance.
February 11, 2016 at 15:26
No – cured TB won’t be a problem.
February 11, 2016 at 19:49
Hi Mr Simon.
Thanks very much for this blog . I just discovered it and it has helped me alot thanks once again
February 11, 2016 at 20:10
You’re welcome!
February 11, 2016 at 20:11
Thanks for your brilliant work.
Your may have received this question a hundred times but here you go… I´ve got the case number EU21xxx and processed my DS260 in may but I had to unlock it last week to add a newborn child and update my soon-to-expire passport number. I had the form unlocked for just a few hours.
Would this unlocking delay my interview or should I expect to have my interview in April?
Many thanks again
February 11, 2016 at 20:41
It shouldn’t delay normally, but your timing might have been unfortunate since this was last week – right before they decided which cases were to become current in the new month. At some point they have to take the cases they plan to interview, so you might have clashed with that point. You will find out in a couple of weeks time when the 2NLs go out.
But if you get delayed a month – would that be a problem?
February 11, 2016 at 21:02
hello sir, reviewing my online form, i discovered that i indicated on highest level of education as “high school, no degree” and i had my A level certificate and currently in university. should i change it? cn AF20XXX already current and awaiting 2nl
February 12, 2016 at 00:11
No need to change it on the DS260 – just talk to the CO at the interview.
February 11, 2016 at 23:35
Hi Mr brig
Please i wanted to ask this.i will be having my interview in march and i have a 4months old baby please will she require a medical certificate too?
Thanks .
February 12, 2016 at 00:13
Yes she will need a medical, as well as the birth cert and passport. Hopefully you created a DS260 for the child and changed your DS260 to add the child.
February 11, 2016 at 23:37
Sorry sir that i spelled your name wrongly
February 12, 2016 at 04:44
Sir, some questions..
*An applicant whose ds260 is successfully completed also who is current, surely receives his 2nl?
*does kcc responds to all queries? Like ones information on ds260 processing?
*what should an applicant do if he /she doesn’t get any medical appointments before his interview?
Thanks beforehand
Brit sir..
February 12, 2016 at 04:57
I’m numbering my answers in the order of your question. Numbered questions are better.
1. Yes.
2. Yes – but often their replies are not very useful.
3. He should attend the interview but will be put on AP. That is a silly risk to take.
February 12, 2016 at 09:03
Sir, a final question
Does kcc provide information of ds260 processing enquiries through phone call? If yes then. Does it sound as the same as in mail
-pending for embassy review
-right in the middle of being scheduled.. Etc etc…. .
February 12, 2016 at 20:10
The answers you get via phone is similar to the email answers – but perhaps a bit more “human”.
February 12, 2016 at 05:00
Hi Brit I wish to know are you a Dv winner??If it is the case for which year did you win and from which country are you??Just for simple curiosity thanks for your repply

Hi Brit
Thanks so much for this site, i never knew that this site ever existed. I really appreciate the information your page provide. This is just the right page I was looking for.
My brother is in a serious situation and we really need your advise. He won the DV in the past with his in Liberia, moved and have being living in the US for the past 2 years with no child between them. There is an incompatible issue they are facing and they both agreed to put in a divorce. Please advise on the steps needed to move on with this process.

Dear Simon
I notice that KCC a located Visas for the month , if my interview scheduled at the end of the month for example day 31 is that mean if my visa approved they will give me Visa from the next month quota ? because the processing of my visa will start on the next month .
February 12, 2016 at 20:09
No – you are in an allocation of cases passed to the embassy for the full month.
February 12, 2016 at 11:20
Good afternoon Mr.simon
My case number is AF49*** in the risk zone but if we assume that my number get current in September I have question?
Is it nessary the addres in USA which I wrote in DS260 must be the address of the sponsor who will fill I-134, Affidavit of Support
February 12, 2016 at 20:07
No, the address you will live at in the USA does not have to match that of the person completing the I-134
February 12, 2016 at 11:28
Dear Brit, please I still can’t read the bulletin, my forms status is still at NVC, my case number is AF97XX,when am I going to be current? Thankx
February 12, 2016 at 20:05
You are already current. But you probably submitted your DS260 late. When did you submit it?
February 13, 2016 at 13:31
AF97XX, thankx
February 13, 2016 at 13:57
I submitted it on 17th December, 2015.please does it mean if I submitted it late they won’t send me the letter again and that my number is void?and if they will, what month should I expect it?thankx
February 12, 2016 at 12:13
Hi Brit!
Our CN is finally current but please advise me what to do because we moved from our current address to a previous one which is already mentioned in the previous addresses in the ds260. We (me, my husband and son) moved to our parents house as we sold ours because we wanted to buy a better one to be close to our son’s school but still searching. And for your information we didn’t sell it because we were selected by the lottery, we had the intention to do so 2 years ago but then a buyer only showed a month ago. Shall i call KCC or email them by this or just tell them at the interview?
Thanks a lot sir for your great help!
Best Regards!
February 12, 2016 at 20:06
Just tell them at the interview.
February 12, 2016 at 12:40
Please advice me,wat shd I do?
February 12, 2016 at 19:15
All case no from EU are current just 7 VB Why sir?
February 12, 2016 at 20:02
They reduced the number of selectees this year and they underselected EU and OC in particular.
February 12, 2016 at 23:51
Dear Brit, Can AS and AF take any benifit from reduction of EU?
February 13, 2016 at 00:05
Maybe. There is provision for movement of unused visas from region to region – but that does not mean they will do it for sure. We have to wait and see.
February 13, 2016 at 02:20
Sir,,
Before 3 /4 months i checked my wining letter. Big bold text of my case number 2016AS000048** was written right below the upper left corner below the logo of us bureau of consular affairs and one right down on the bottom of the letter.
And now when i check it these days those both bold text of my case number is replaced by Barcodes..
I m current now..
Sir any idea what’s that??
Thanks
Regards..
February 13, 2016 at 04:04
It changes for no reason – don’t worry about it.

February 13, 2016 at 05:34
Hi Guys! Does that mean for for April interviews for Asia the cut off case number is 5800.
Does that mean that Since mine is around AS67xx will be around May or June?
February 13, 2016 at 05:51
Yes and yes.
February 13, 2016 at 05:55
Thank you for your prompt reply mate!
Anyway could you please advise if I stay Jobless during the interview will it impact.
However I stated in application form that im currently working.
Also I resigned from the job couple of weeks ago and I got a service letter as well.
Advise needed
February 13, 2016 at 06:16
No impact at all. Everyone who emigrates quits their job…
February 13, 2016 at 09:13
Hi Simon I got you reply thanks..see I submitted my application this 22 January when could my interview be… My case is 4500
February 13, 2016 at 14:46
It could take a couple of months more before they schedule the interview, so don’t expect and interview much sooner than June.
February 13, 2016 at 11:07
Hello sir , thank your for your advice. i’m selected for 2016 dv my cn is 2016AF00020xxx i send my ds on 6 september , i’m current. i want just to have advice because i wont to change my interview location . how can i do this and when can i get the new interview in my new contry.
February 13, 2016 at 15:04
I think you have left it too late to change your interview. You have probably been scheduled already for an April interview. You could phone KCC and ask them to change – but they may not be able to do that – and if they do it might delay your interview to May.
February 13, 2016 at 13:27
I submitted it on 17th December, 2015.please will they send me an email or because I submitted it late, they won’t write to me again?
February 13, 2016 at 15:15
They will send an email once your DS260 is processed.
February 13, 2016 at 13:33
AF97XX, thankx
February 13, 2016 at 13:52
Hi Brits, let me ask when you were currently working and having a bank loan, now when going to the interview will your loan have any impact? again is it possible to immigrate leaving a bank loan to settle it up after reaching US.when I get a new job there?
February 13, 2016 at 15:15
The loan won’t affect the DV process in any way.
February 13, 2016 at 17:08
hi simon. i have one quesion,
when i was submited the ds260 there was not any e-mail replay from kcc .i was add my e-mail address.so is there any problem? i am current for april interview.
February 13, 2016 at 17:10
That should not be a problem – just watch for your 2NL in a week or two.
February 13, 2016 at 17:11
Hello Brit,
Can i change my address in USA after my interview or before i pay for my Green card fee here in Cameroon. Please advice me.
I am AF00044**** still waiting to get current
February 13, 2016 at 17:53
You can change it now (by unlocking), or at the interview, or at the POE (arrival airport) in the USA.
February 13, 2016 at 20:11
Hello Brit,
Does 2016AF00044*** have any chance of becoming current ?
February 13, 2016 at 21:33
I think you will.
February 14, 2016 at 17:40
Hi Brit,
During filling Ds260, I filled in the space about if the job requires 2 years training with it ls corresponding describtion but Iam a mechanical engineer and my number is 2016AS75xx Rest of Asia. I want to unlock my Ds260 end of this month to put the new issued passport number. My question is do i keep the filled space for the 2 years training or not?
Thank you
February 14, 2016 at 17:52
Yes – there is no harm in that question.
February 16, 2016 at 08:23
Since OC and EU are probably becoming current for April Interviews , is it possible for a big jump of the VB for Africa region, more specially for covering the 50.000 cut off before September and in september for clearing the APs.
Actually my questions can be irrelevant but thanks for responding each and every question , May God bless you.
February 16, 2016 at 14:27
We hope to see AF and other regions using the unused visas from EU and OC, but I can’t be sure they will – so this year, more than most years, we just have to “wait and see”
February 16, 2016 at 14:12
Hi Brit
An affidavit of support i-134 that is prepared, signed, scanned and sent as email and it is printed out, can it be accepted on the day of appointment at the interview?
February 16, 2016 at 14:22
It is better to have it by mail – but some have been accepted when scanned.
February 17, 2016 at 10:01
Hey BritSimon, could I just have a quick question? I am a winner from EU, my case number is 22xxx, so I’m current for April. However, when I try to check my visa status it tells me my Case Number is invalid. I’m sure I enter the correct CN, because I copied it from the page where I checked my entrant status and got the information that I’ve been randomly selected for further processing etc. Would you have an idea why my CN shows as invalid now? Thank you!
February 17, 2016 at 10:29
Hello again, I’m sorry to bother you, but I’ve found the solution to the above problem on my own. I just needed to enter the number without the “zeros” Sorry about that! Now I’ve checked my status and it sayd “At NVC” So I just need to be patient! Sorry to have bothered you again.
Btw, I know a lot of people have said it already, but let me be one of them 🙂 I think you’re doing a realy great job here and helping all of us tremendously. Thank you very much for this!!!
February 17, 2016 at 15:13
Glad you sorted that out!
February 17, 2016 at 13:46
Hello Brit 2016SA143x has no chance to become current?
February 17, 2016 at 14:35
It’s risky – but I would not say “no chance”.
February 18, 2016 at 14:22
then I stay quiet? you believe that there is a possibility of reaching SA143X? What worries me is the slowness of the program
February 18, 2016 at 14:24
There is a possibility, not a certainty. So yes – just wait.
February 18, 2016 at 03:56
Hy brit any Chance of being current bro 2016af00001
February 18, 2016 at 05:59
AF1? THat number was current in October – unless you have the number wrong…
February 18, 2016 at 08:40
No the number is not wrong I submitted late what happens in that case
February 18, 2016 at 14:05
THat case was already completed – so your question makes no sense.
February 18, 2016 at 13:47
Dear Wazza
Visa for case AF1 was refused check CEAC
February 19, 2016 at 04:16
Hi Brit!

I was awarded that membership myself – but it is just that – a membership of a professional body (albeit with a requirement of experience in the subject matter). I would not suggest you describe that as a UK degree equivalent since it does not require any form of formal education/training.

Thank you mate!
However I have already sent the application form suggesting that.
Also my number is expected to be current by May.
Will it be a problem in the interview since I have already suggested that as some other high school degree

I think we are mixing terms. a UK level degree (Bachelors) typically starts at age 18 and takes 3 years. In the USA, it is similar – High school graduation is typically achieved at aged 18 and represents the point at which a person is able to start “college” (meaning University). So – as long as you show your elementary and secondary education up to age 18 with appropriate final grades, that is sufficient. The MCBS issue will not be an issue in that case.
