A new version of the I-134 form has been published and can be used immediately.
If you have an existing I-134 it will be accepted for interviews up to June 27, 2022. If you plan to interview after then and have already got the I-134 you will need to get the form re-filled with the new form.
The new form is largely the same as the old form but has some useful new features. Any US resident should be able to complete the form with minimal assistance, by using the specific form instructions as guidance.
I discuss when an I-134 is needed in this earlier article.
The I-134 can be found here – https://www.uscis.gov/i-134
Thanks to a reader “AI” for alerting me to the change!

Hi Simon! I am filling out form I-134 for the humanitarian parole of Venezuelans, the main beneficiary is my spouse, and we have a daughter, how do we enter our data in the form? I understand that it must be filled out as a family group, but at the same time, they say that one form per beneficiary! that is not very clear if you have the answer I would be very grateful also your video on youtube was very useful to me! thanks, friend

Hello. I’m wondering if it would be possible to use form 1099 instead of form 1040 for I-134?
July 25, 2022 at 14:27
No.

Hello Brit,
First of all, thank you for much for this useful information.
I have been struggling to find a way to fill this out and I’m 90% clear.
I do have couple of questions that would be greatly appreciated if you can help.
I’m filling this out for my son for his F-1 visa.
1. In Part 1 Question 16: Beneficiary’s Anticipated Length of Stay, if my son is already in the US, what should I put in for the From date?
2. In Part 3 Question 11: Immigration Status, what should I put if I’m residing in another country with no immigration status?
3. In Part 3 Question 15: Sponsor’s Income, if I’m self-employed restaurant owner and don’t have fixed income, can I use a past 3 year’s average? Or what would be the best approach?
4. In Part 3 Question 24: Intent to Provide Specific Contributions to the Beneficiary, I know you said to ideally put do not intent, but since it for F-1 visa where I am paying for his tuition and living expenses, can I still vaguely say “As much as it is needed for the beneficiary to complete the program”?
Thank you so much for your help.
I truly appreciate it!

1. The date he arrived.
2. The form should be completed by a legal US resident.
3. That would come from tax returns.
4. You can say that.

Hi Brit,
Thank you for your hard work.
I am a principal sponsor with four other accompanying members ( wife and children). About the form i-134
1. Do I have to get only a sponsor for the principal sponsor?
2. If No, after getting the sponsor for myself can I get individual sponsor for each of the accompanying members because getting a sponsor for a family of 5 members will require a huge sum to be in the sponsor’s bank account?
3. I’ve already submitted the form Ds 260, which I indicated that the accompanying members will be migrating with the principal sponsor. Should I call for KCC to unlock my application to change it to( will migrate later) or I should leave it but should not continue the process for them?
June 1, 2022 at 18:38
1. The person completing the I-134 is supporting the principal applicant and each derivative. One form. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
2. See 1
3. Your choice.

Should we have two separate i-134 forms for myself and spouse?
May 18, 2022 at 01:39
Hi Brit,
Hope your are doing well. My question revolves around the new I 134. It gives an option to fill up either by self or a sponsor.
1. I am working currently, but not in the US. I do have assets like houses and property which can be sold anytime. I also do have bank deposits as well. If all would add up to USD100k plus, and if I have sufficient proofs like the deed and deposit certificate, would that suffice for me to fill up the i134?
2. The sponsor should be willing to give the listed evidence in the form. My sponsor is willing to fill up the form but not willing to get the statements from the bank.
In this case should I seek another sponsor or fill out myself?
May 19, 2022 at 04:34
1. If the 100K were liquid assets, yes. Equity in real estate is not considered liquid assets.
2. The most useful thing is sponsors income, not assets.

As a sponsor, I hand delivered my signed I-134 hardcopy and supporting documents to a beneficiary last month. She has not yet had her embassy appointment. Now it appears that if her appointment is not scheduled on/before June 27, i will need to fill in the new form for her to replace the one I have already given her. She is in Albania, which has very unreliable mail service. My question is this: If I email her a scanned PDF of the new form with my signature, will that suffice? Or might the Albanian embassy require an original signed document?
May 15, 2022 at 20:00
Scanned is fine.
May 8, 2022 at 18:01
please kindly advise whether i-134 form is a must
May 9, 2022 at 01:02
It’s commonly asked for, some embassies use it more often than others.

Hello Bro!
I am from Iran (CAS 12***) and you know that we are CURRENT now. But I have not received the 2NL yet. I have completed DS-260 and send all documents to KCC by email. what can be the reason of not receiving 2NL? By the way I am living in China and my interview will be in Guangzhou city.
May 7, 2022 at 04:49
There are many cases in a similar position. So – you could ask KCC for the status of your case.
May 7, 2022 at 14:25
Thx. This is the reply of KCC to me. Nothing is clear indeed. May I call them directly?
“Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvprogram.state.gov.”
May 7, 2022 at 14:57
The response says everything you can know. Now you just have to wait to see if you are scheduled.

Sir,
Was filling this new form up and faced few speed bumps which I cannot resolve even with the instructions given. this will be a bit lengthy inquiry so pls bare with me.
1.
On part 2, Item No 17 heading is “Beneficiary’s Income”, so do I list my incomes or do I list out how much I spend on my spouse, children etc. And it repeatedly says not to mentioned any person in Part 3 but says ” or “Beneficiary” if someone is agreeing to support you in Part 3.” i’m confused…
2. On part 3, Item No 15 heading is “Income”, in this table the sponsor should list all people that he take care of right (like his dependents in US, except for me). right??? What does this statement means “Type or print “Self” for Individual Agreeing to Financially Support the Beneficiary”..
Sorry for the long inquiry, hope you understand the above confusion and hope that you can shed some light on this to untangle my brain. thank you and TC
May 2, 2022 at 03:56
The beneficiary is the DV selectee and derivatives.
I’m not sure why you are confused. The form is clear and has additional instructions. Please read that.
