Hey Brit,
I appreciate the effort you put in assisting all of us. It’s commendable.
One request though, could it be possible to have the videos accompanied by articles for those of us who prefer reading through.?
Thanks and be blessed.
August 21, 2019 at 14:01
I understand. This is already a FAQ entry, but I wanted to actually show the I-134 form.
August 21, 2019 at 14:20
I am sorry Mr. Simon maybe this questione is stupid but i try..
I am in the process of dv2020 high case number.
When they ask for pubblic charge proof?
August 21, 2019 at 15:59
During the interview
August 22, 2019 at 03:57
In the interview.
August 24, 2019 at 15:00
Hi Simon
Can we show the bank statement for saving
In Local currency account .
That is our local money saving account which is equal to 50000 usd .
co accept it ?
Thanks
August 24, 2019 at 18:01
That might be enough.
August 21, 2019 at 15:56
Hi Simon
Whenever I get an email notification from your site, I always wonder how you combine this with your daily tasks! You must be sacrificing a lot for the sake of others. Thatโs really bravery and heroic ?!
My case number: 2020AF00053***
Kindly advise: There is an opportunity for me to get a professional internship in the US through J-1 program. My former colleague who is already in the US under the same program earns 15USd per hour and has another job aside with almost the same amount per hour.
Would it be really wise to use this opportunity to integrate myself into the US with a career path before immigrating(and probably avoid to be a public charge)?
I am the principal applicant and have a wife and 2 kids who might move with me into the US next year If we get the D V Visa ?, would I have to comeback and attend the interview with them if we get scheduled before my J-1 visa ends?
I appreciate your time reading this
August 22, 2019 at 04:12
I’m not quite clear on what you are suggesting/asking. You can adjust status in the USA, but you should NOT enter the USA with a plan to adjust. That could cause denial.
August 21, 2019 at 16:25
Hi Britsimond thank you for caring about our cases. Please on the first page of form I-134 around lines 8. 9. and 10. my sponsor provided me with line 9. can the absence of lines 9 and 10 be a problem? Thanks.
August 22, 2019 at 04:13
Make the question clear please.
August 21, 2019 at 16:35
Hi anyone,
Thanks once more sir Brit for ur unconstitutional aid.
As far as I-134 is concerned, it depends on the country. I am in Cameroon, though we had for the interview in case they asked, it is not a compulsory document. We had our visas without it.
U can call the US embassy in ur country in case u want to be sure
August 22, 2019 at 04:14
That is in YOUR case. That does NOT mean it would be the same for all other cases!
August 21, 2019 at 18:42
Hi brit,
My sponsor is one of my best friends in the US who’s twenties and he’s the first born of his family where he’s with himself 5 family members and he’s single.Myself being single can he sponsor me???He’s making $25000-30000 annually.
Thanks in advance!
August 22, 2019 at 04:22
Yes
August 21, 2019 at 18:48
Dear sir
Good day
What is the stars below the photo in the Visa refer to
August 22, 2019 at 01:24
Hi Brit,
I have been living in the US for a few years because I got my bachelors and masters degree from a US university. I am currently in the US on a work visa and my salary above the minimum requirement. I have also never received any assistance from the US government. I will be going back to my home country for consular processing. Is it safe to assume that my tax documents (W-2) and payslips will be enough to prove that I will not become a public charge. Filling out the I-134 just does not make sense in my case.
August 22, 2019 at 04:18
It may be enough – yes.
August 22, 2019 at 04:01
Hello Brit,
Can you please list the relationship options to us for the sponsorship?? I understand that they should be family or relative but what does it mean??
August 22, 2019 at 04:17
Relative or friend.
August 22, 2019 at 10:36
Hi simon ..am in kenya.how much am i supposed to have in my acct for me not to be considered as a public charge
August 22, 2019 at 16:31
Watch the video or read the link.
August 22, 2019 at 15:23
Hello Brit
Previously, Moroccans were exempt from the sponcer in the lottery program.
Will Lottery 2020 be required to be a sponcer on the day of the interview
August 22, 2019 at 16:46
“Previously, Moroccans were exempt from the sponcer in the lottery program”
Utter Nonsense.
Prepare to be asked for financial proof.
August 22, 2019 at 22:14
Hi Mr Birit
My brother is winner 2020 CN AF44***
And I’m citizen in USA but me and him last name is different is affected on form 134 as I’m sponsoring him
August 23, 2019 at 02:33
No problem. You can document the relationship if you feel that would help.
August 23, 2019 at 10:50
thank for this informative information, Mr. Simon I have been playing DV for the past few years now, I won’t before during the course of 2009/ 2010 but the result was cancelled due to some circumstances at Kentucky. At that time i play with the age or the year 1979, which was a mistake from the cafe it should have been 1984 which is my actual date of birth, 2, i have play with numerous girls as my wife. Do you think i am still qualify to play with the first mistake from the cafe or will I not been deny due to fact that i been playing with many girls as my wife?
August 23, 2019 at 11:04
It sounds like you have a loose grasp of the meaning of “honesty”. In that case you are unlikely to make it through the process and have probably been identified as a person committing fraud .
August 23, 2019 at 11:33
So Bri, there is no need i play again right?
August 23, 2019 at 12:51
That’s up to you.
August 23, 2019 at 12:42
hellow again… Can I present in the interview a job offer from a different area than the one I wrote on form DS-260? I put that I was going to work in gastronomy, can I present a job offer from a different area?
Could you show us a model of a job offer? If itยดs in your possibilities, of course…

Hello Brit,
My daughter is US born. She has US citizenship and passport. Should my sponor include her in I-134?
Thank you
August 24, 2019 at 00:47
Yes – why not…
August 23, 2019 at 17:19
Hello Mr. Brit l, I am a Green Card holder living in Us for about 5 months. Does the new law affect us if we use some public services?? I mean can the government cancel our Green cards? We are a family on charity care for about 2 months.
Thank you for your reply.
August 24, 2019 at 00:52
It could affect your citizenship – it partly depends on what help you get. Why are you using charity care? You should have had a plan!
August 24, 2019 at 10:16
We just came at Us and we didnt have issurance and no job and my wife got sick, I took her to emergency and the bill came more than 2000 $…so a friend told me to apply for Charity care and they covered all the bill and we are now on charity till next year…should I cancel the charity now? We have jobs now and I dont want anything to happen to our Green cards. Thank you for your reply
August 24, 2019 at 17:55
You have jobs so pay your way.
August 25, 2019 at 21:20
I have no problem to pay taxes cuz I work almost 80 hours per week, 7 days. But when you first come at Us you may need a little help from the government cuz you start from zero and here is everything different. The government should help people at first with job or if they need medical help or with homes, because its very difficult to find a house to rent even if you have money, cuz you will need a recommandation from someone or you must have Credit Score, but how will you have credit score when you just arrive and credit score needs at least 6 months to built. Its very hard. If they dont want that then they should cancel the lottery program and choose only the rich, but Im not sure the rich wants to come here and the most hard working people are the one that dont have much. Greetings
August 25, 2019 at 21:41
No one said it would be easy. No one said the government would help. It’s hard for immigrants – of course. So everyone needs to come with their eyes open.
August 23, 2019 at 17:27

Hello Simon, thanks a lot for all your help.
I wanted to ask you something, I’m Venezuelan and dv2020 selectee, CN 22XX.
Recently, the US said that they are going to allowed expired venezuelan passports for entry and applications for the US, Here’s the article:
https://www.state.gov/the-united-states-supports-extension-of-validity-for-venezuelan-passports/
But, in the list says that the passport have to be valid up to 6 months beyond the intended date of entry. do you think it could be any problem with that? Because my passport expire in december. Should I print the article and have it as a proof (just in case) for my interview?
August 24, 2019 at 04:59
I don’t know, Use your best judgement,
August 24, 2019 at 17:07
1 When will KCC ask supporting documents
2 do they ask with email ?
August 24, 2019 at 18:05
1. It varies.
2. Yes
August 25, 2019 at 00:29
Thanks
August 25, 2019 at 03:55

Hallo Brit, I am 20years old now, I am completing my High school end of this year.I want to apply for the DV2021 What will I provide as proof I won’t be of public charge. My parents own a house and I will be at a job soon as I finish school.I dont have anyone to sponsor me from the US,but my parents are willing to help me in any case.I live in Zimbabwe.Thank you for your help
August 26, 2019 at 19:33
You can watch the video for answers, but honestly that is not worth doing until you find out you are selected. Your chance of selection is about once in 200 years.
August 27, 2019 at 21:42
Hi Brit, Is the passport still going to work for the new Dv entry coming this year?
August 27, 2019 at 22:00
As far as we know, yes.
August 28, 2019 at 16:15
Hello Britsimon,
i have a question about filling the i-134 from. My sponsor, who is my cousin sent me the tax return transcripts and there is both him and his wife name. Should both of them fill the i-134 form or is enough just my cousin for completing the form?
August 28, 2019 at 16:54
One of them. Whoever files tax.
August 29, 2019 at 17:57
My friends earns $37000 can he be able to host me being the fact that he is single ….me being single too.
2. Can I be able to change my sponsor during interview reason being my first sponsor does not meet the requirements he earns around $15000 he is also single ??
August 29, 2019 at 20:35
The first sponsor sounds ok.
August 30, 2019 at 11:23
thanks let me not mind now i will use my first sponsor.
September 3, 2019 at 17:09
Dear Britsimon!
When KCC ask you to send the requesting documents, does KCC send an informing email to your email address that you filled in form DS260, or to the email you entered during the first entry of DV lottery of last year???????
Thank you so much for your continuous help and support for all of us.
September 4, 2019 at 00:52
The DS260 version.
September 4, 2019 at 02:35
Hi Brit,
Iโm a DV2020 winner from Asian region. My sponsor has an income of USD 65000. In addition he has USD 280,000 worth real estate (mortgage amount is USD 240,000). He has a 3 member family (Sponsor, wife and child) and he is OK to provide me the affidavit (I-134) for my 3 member family (myself, wife and child) without any issue.
My question is, my sponsor has already provided affidavits to his own 4 family members (father, mother, brother and sister in law) previously. Will that be a risk to select him as my sponsor?
Thanks a lot for your awesome work here!
September 4, 2019 at 04:27
1. The income is enough.
2. This represents a risk.
September 4, 2019 at 08:22
Thanks Brit! Then it will be safe to find another Sponsor.
I have another friend of mine who is a green card holder but not a citizen yet. If he meets the income requirement, can I get the i-134 from him? I’m sorry for the inconvenience by asking multiple questions.
September 4, 2019 at 20:44
Yes
September 5, 2019 at 07:15
Hi Brit,
Update from the sponsor with USD 65000 income:
1st affidavit was provided for his father and mother. This was submitted to embassy by the beneficiaries.
2nd affidavit (I-134) was provided for his brother and sister-in-law. But this was NOT submitted to embassy by beneficiaries.
In that way, my sponsor has provided affidavits only for 2 members. This will be mentioned in my I-134 as well. If this is the situation, will I be able to use this sponsor for my 3 member family? Let me know your thoughts.
September 5, 2019 at 12:57
You know my thoughts – I already said.
September 5, 2019 at 00:45
Hello Brit,
Many thanks for the good work.
Our interview is v.soon. We have noticed an error in one of our birth certificates (surname of my wife’s mother not same with that on DS-260)…Now gone and have a new/corrected version.
Q. Is it ok to bring that up during the interview (or before it starts) or wait until they ask for it?
Q.2 Does that amount to any delay or not worth their attention.
Thank you.
September 5, 2019 at 01:54
1. Bring it up.
2. No problem.
September 6, 2019 at 06:40

September 6, 2019 at 17:33
Hi Brit,
Please i am a DV2019 winner in Ghana. I went to the interview and was refused base on my Education. Meanwhile i have all the passes in my Senior High School certificate and additionally i have Tertiary Education. I want to Know if i can appeal.
September 7, 2019 at 05:02
Did you show them all the proof? If so – what would be the basis of an appeal, even if such an appeal was possible,
September 7, 2019 at 15:28
Hi Brit,
Please i showed them all my certificates both the original and the photocopy. The CO asked me if i was married and i said NO. and She asked me my age and i told her. That was all. The she handed me the letter i thought i was given the letter to go for my visa but it wasn’t so. My certificate has all the passes no fail, I have my name arrangement right, date of birth right nothing wrong with my application. So i want to appeal to be able to find out what i didn’t do right. Please let me know the procedure to follow. Thank you
September 7, 2019 at 17:02
There is no formal appeal process. From what you said, you showed everything you have, and it wasn’t enough. So really there is nothing more you can do.
September 10, 2019 at 23:21
Hello Owusu Ansah ,
Please If I may asked , what exactly went wrong with your education as you indicated in your submission ?
Did you have any profession or just completed Tertiary education.
Did you add the sponsor document as well .?
Felt very down to read this .
September 7, 2019 at 14:16

Hello sir is work experiences is complusory to avoid public charge
September 9, 2019 at 19:17
No. Watch the video.
September 9, 2019 at 16:34
If a individual is in the US, does it have to show proof of having health insurance? Wondering if not having a health insurance can be considered as a public charge?
September 9, 2019 at 19:18
Yes you have to show proof when you file taxes, but no it doesn’t mean you are a public charge, it simply shows you are very unwise.
September 11, 2019 at 17:56
Hello Brit!
I am the winner of Dv2020. I asked the embassy for the documents needed for the interview, but there was no sponsor on the checklist they sent. Does this mean I don’t need it?
Thank you.
September 11, 2019 at 18:44
No it does not mean that. Go prepared.
September 13, 2019 at 03:18
Hi Simon,
My friend currently is sponsoring his parents for visit visa (B1/B2 i guess).
1. Can he sponsor me for i-134 in this case ?
2. His wife is working and has enough income. His total number of family is 3 and if he can sponsor us (Me winner and my wife as a derivative), does his income scale still need to meet federal poverty guideline for total members of 5 ?
3. I just received email from KCC for document and processing further.
3.1 When shall i get the i-134 ?
3.2 Get i-134 after 2NL ? or should i ask him to send in few days and keep safe for later use in interview if i get 2NL?
September 13, 2019 at 19:27
1. Possibly. It’s an increased risk.
2. Yes
3. Depends on your case number, please read the basic questions posts.
4. Normally after getting the 2NL.
September 14, 2019 at 22:14
Hello Brit ,
Thank for your advise and guide concerning the processing of the DV lottery.
My question is , would there be a situation when one would be asked to present my his / her statement during interview ?
Reason being that I have taken some loan at the bank and have not finished paying .
Would it affect me during the interview ?
if yes , Kindly advise me on what to do before going for the interview .
Thank you
September 14, 2019 at 22:21
So present an I-134 then…
September 15, 2019 at 00:09
Thanks Brit for good advice, Now that I came to US recently & waiting to obtain social security number in order to find jobs so I can get health insurance for My family, should My kids remain where We r hosted or I should take them to school without health insurance since I’m avoiding Medicaid at all costs?
September 15, 2019 at 02:32
Medicaid for kids in not public charge under the new guidelines. Get a job and get the kids in school, in either order.
September 17, 2019 at 13:50
Hi Brit,
i have a situation and would really wish to hear/read your thoughts.
We are a family of 4, my husband, 2 kids and my self. I am the principal applicant.
My father in law resides in US and he has filled an I 134 for us. Previously, he had filed Affidavits for his daughters who are living with him at US but are all independent now and working, though they still stay in the same real estate. He has also filed for 4 more children(including my husband) for immigration to US, though it hasnt happened yet.
His income is ok as per the poverty guidelines as its around 70,000USD.
1. Should we continue with him as our sponsor or it will create a risk?
2. Can one of our sisters file for us at an income of 35,000USD? She has been filing as a cosponsor with dad in the other affidavits(though non has been granted yet) and she is single and a US citizen.
September 17, 2019 at 20:35
1. That sounds like a risk.
2. That income might be too low, and she is already a cosponsor – so use someone else.
September 18, 2019 at 06:13
Thank you Brit.
Stay blessed.
September 18, 2019 at 04:25
Dear Brist,
I passed the interview and my case issued. I want to say thank you so much for your blog and your help. if don’t have you maybe i heard to understand all the process and what should i do. Good luck.
God bless you
September 18, 2019 at 04:44

September 19, 2019 at 08:54
Hello brit !
I am scheduled for November interview as my CN is current .
My sponsor is coming to home country for a long stay (70 days)
He has not got 2019 income tax file as he told me that it will be on the last of the December which is a month later of my interview .
1.Is it fine to show 2018 income tax file ? Or is there any problems ?
2.as accordance to you , i have changed my sponsor , and he has been sponsored for the previous dv lottery winner and is in united states in 2018 .
I think there is more risk to make someone sponsor who is unknown so I am worrying about day by day.
September 19, 2019 at 13:50
1. Yes – but you will need up to date payslips in addition.
September 19, 2019 at 08:58
His annual income is $75000 and he is single there .and I’m too..
He is close to me .
Thanks
September 19, 2019 at 14:11
And he is the sponsor for 2018 selectee who is now in usa.
But his income is $70000 .
Do I need to change brit ?
September 19, 2019 at 14:26
It’s probably OK.
September 19, 2019 at 14:47
Hi Brit,
My brother got DV visa for 2019 from Nepal.
He had been rejected for first time during interview and 4 times after re submission of documents and proof as requested by counselor. Even after re submission of sufficient proof and other related documents he was denied to grant the visa. Sponsor offered job for him and his wife as well even though got denied from embassy of Kathmandu, Nepal .In reply he receive an email stating that “Unlikely to overcome the public charge concerns. This finding is based on five statutory factors age, health, family status, resources and assets and education and skills” .What would be the best lead to approach in current condition.
Is there any possibility for status readjustment? As it is great opportunity for my brother drive and ambition. It would be great assist if you can find out the best solution at earliest. As deadline for 2019 DV visa is September 30 2019.
Looking for your prompt response.
Thank you.
September 19, 2019 at 15:56
This whole thing could have been avoided by presenting an I-134 from a relative or close friend. It is unlikely there is enough time to do anything now…
September 20, 2019 at 13:56
Hey Brit, does Obamacare comes under public charge?
September 20, 2019 at 22:57
No
September 21, 2019 at 19:55
Hi Brit, WHEN best can high case numbers for dv2020 start submitting their DS260 Forms?
September 22, 2019 at 00:32
Anytime from now…
September 26, 2019 at 09:19
Dear Mr. Brit
i have a question regarding the public charge. I am green card applicant for the ongoing 2020 DV lottery from EU. I am married and have a bachelor degree, moreover i am in my last year of my master studies. Also i have a 3 year work experience in the same field. My spouse is a freelance programmer without bachelor degree although he has completed some IT courses, but he cannot get certified document for his working experience because like i mention above he is a freelancer. We have on our joined bank account 25 000 $ and a big 2200 square feet house but we cannot find sponsor in the US who will guarantee for us. As my number is current and we are waiting for 2NL my question is, are we are having problem since we cant find sponsor?
thank you in advance
September 26, 2019 at 14:18
Only the CO can decide.
September 27, 2019 at 12:25
Hello Simon!
if someone case is under the public charge concern .
Do they reject or refuse ?
Do they give one more chance to overcome public charge to all after the interview ?
Best regards !!
September 28, 2019 at 04:20
Usually they give some time…
September 27, 2019 at 15:40
