As explained in the video below there are now hundreds of first person accounts from DV winners on my link here. If you are yet to face the interview, reading these stories will first make you better prepared and second relax you since the interviews are normally much easier than you could expect. So – please make sure you read some – and read those NOT from your embassy too so you can see how remarkably similar the process is from embassy to embassy.
Also also – for those that have had their interview – please take a moment to add your experience story, if you have not already done so!

Hi Mr. Brit
Greetings. My interview was to be in March and it was cancelled and later blocked by the PPs. Thank God I was reschedule on Monday 14th September 2020. After the interview I was given a pink color paper stating that I have to bring the medical before 30th September. Does the pink paper means that I have been approved and waiting just for the medical to issue.
September 14, 2020 at 16:36
Not really. It is not certain until you have the visa in your hand. Get the medical to them as soon as possible.

March 10, 2020 at 16:24
pls sir I took our visa package today and I saw a message on my wife visa page under Annotation and it reads.
Valid only if Acc/FTJ father /mother /spouse. And I don’t understand what it means bcus that message is not on my visa so pls clearify it to my understanding. Thank you
March 10, 2020 at 19:45
As she is the derivative her visa (ONLY for the first entry) depends on being WITH, or following you.
Acc = accompanying.
FTJ = Follow to Join.
March 10, 2020 at 15:32
Hi sir
Today i went for my interview and they asked me to renew my passport and submit again. The reason is i look different in the passport photo as it was issued in 2012. So the co returned my passport and kept my spouse(derivative) passport with him. But when i check the status it shows as REFUSED . Isnt it meant to be in ap? Or is this the normal procedure when they ask us to submit documents after the interview?
And this is what my status said further

March 10, 2020 at 19:39
I can’t guess whether your case is actually refused, or whether it is part of the technical problem we have been seeing in CEAC. Contact the embassy to check.
March 10, 2020 at 23:04
Thank you sir, I will contact the embassy.
March 10, 2020 at 05:28
Hello Brit, let me thank you for the good work you are doing on this great plattform. We attended our interview and God being good all the time we were given a visa both me and my wife. Our interview lasted for only 3-5minutes we thank you soo much we really appreciate your effort. But my last question for you is that my wife will be given birth any moment from now so if she gives birth and we prepare both the birth certificate and the passport for the baby are we sending it to them by email or we will just send it to the embassy personal. Pls I need your advice on this.
March 10, 2020 at 18:42

I submitted DS260 on May 16, few days later I received confirmation. Few months later, I was asked for documents which I did promptly, after which I was doing some research and batch to this wonderful site. After so much reading, I discovered I’ve made some silly minor mistakes especially as my data have been in the US system cos I’ve been to the embassy a couple of times in vain. I asked Mr Simon some pertinent questions and due to his advice, I never request to open my DS260 to correct anything, I prefilled the old version though. It took me 6months to get everything done, so as Simon always say PATIENTS PATIENTS is key, am sorry for not having been patient enough in most cases Simon, asking u silly questions but u never got mad, u always answer them, indeed u are a man.
Consular Appointment; 19Nov 2019
Location; US embassy Yde, Cameroon
Time 8:30 local time
I have had all my prior preparations done, medicals, documents, finances, non conviction, A levels and 2 photocopies, Degree and 2 photocopies, all my transcripts with 2 photocopies each, a copy of appointment letter, 2 copies of DS260 confirmation page, birth certificate with 2 copies, affidavit, quotes printed from Trump’s healthcare stuff as Simon advised, a copy of the judge’s ruling suspending the new requirement all arranged in order, unfortunately for me I travel to Yde on 18th which is a country Sunday in (ground zero), I still braved the odds, had no choice though. I arrived Yde early afternoon, had a cool bath, got a short nap and opened my bag to verify if everything was in tact. It was getting very late and every one else were retiring to their bed room, I couldn’t sleep the whole night, I meant the whole night cos I was so restless, 5am I had my bath and once more verified that everything was intact, knelt down and prayed to God. I had 2 glasses of cold water and would later be on my way. Arrived the embassy at 6:50. There was already a good crowd of persons gathered in front of the entrance, security officials were in place but the everywhere still lock, 7:15 first screening started, confirmation of names on a typed paper was done and marked, we were asked to off our phones and keep at the first screening point. From there we proceeded to the main hall way, it seems dormant, a guard ask us to sit on a lounge. After several minutes, we were being ushered in in groups of 4. Here we were given numbers that will be used in calling us up, an official then came, very well dressed, whispered on one of the guards ears, as he made his way, the guard ask those who are for DV interview to raise their hands up, I was surprised to see only 4 of us from a number of about 200. All of us male in their early 30s. The guard asked us to come outside and showed us a place to sit and wait, I can’t explain what was going on in my mind, especially as I read a week ago people were asked in Ghana to go home to be reshadle via email. No one was talkx to each other as we sat, I had been takx some prayed. We waited for several hours, at some point we started chatting amongst us, interview was going on for other types of Visa’s. By 11am, someone came and ask us to go in. We were given numbers and ask to proceed to the first window. The main process started.
A well dressed black guy was on the other side of the glass.
Him; Gd mornx
Me; Gd mornx Sir
Him; Can I have your documents pls
Me; submitted, everything arranged in other
Him; are u married
Me; No
Him; Do u have kids?
Me; No
Him; do u have A levels?
Me; Yes and a bachelor too
Him; u need to pay ur interview fee of $330, 20,5000 fcfa
I did, at this point I got a sigh of relief as everything seems proper. He went through my documents and immediately refunded my affidavit saying, u don’t have to provide this.
Him; take a seat pls, from now now on, u will be called using your number given to u. I find myself an empty seat, there were still several people waiting. I sat for almost 3 hours, my number was then called to the 3rd window. Still a black guy seating at the back of the glass
Him, GD mornx
Me; Gd mornx Sir
Him; what is your name
Me; xxxx
Him; Are u married
Me; No
Him; How many children
Me; None
Him; What is your highest level of education
Me; Bachelor’s
He then gave back my original degree certificate keeping the photocopies with others
Him; take your seat pls
I did, at this time, I had several sips of water as I watched people being interview, most were being rejected. I have been there a couple of times, but I never felt so tensed, had to use the rest room, its been a long day anyway. It was 2pm and only few of us were left. At this time I was minding my business and reflecting on how I filled the DS260 form. 2:07 my number was called up
A white guy, I’ve seen same face there before. From my judgement, this same guy don’t dish out Visa’s Like others as his interviews often take long, I maybe wrong anywhere.
Him; Gd afternoon
Me; Gd afternoon Sir
Him; how are u
Me; very well, thanks for asking and u?
Him; am great
Him; what is ur name
Me;xxxx
Him; raise ur right hand and promise that what ever u have filled and will say here is nothing but the whole truth
Me; I do
At this time, I got nervous as I made some minor mistakes in my DS260 and choose not to open and correct it, again my info was already in the system on previous engagements, I just gave everything to God.
Him; what is your highest level of education
Me; Bachelor’s degree
Him; From which school
Me; xxxx
Him; which year did u had your A levels
Me; xxxx
Him; Which subjects did u passed
Me; xxxx
Him; are u married?
Me; No
Him; do u have children?
Me; No
Him; do u have a fiancé, girlfriend?
Me; No
All these while he’s been typing in the computer. With my previous knowledge I looked around him and didn’t see a yellow paper around, he kept typing this time without asking anything. Then suddenly stops, took a sip of coffee I guess and smile at me coldly, handing me my original A level and birth certificate, keeping all other photocopies
Him; I’ve asked u pretty much, welcome to the states
Me; all smiles, thank u Sir
He send his head above my shoulder and look behind me, probably to see the number of people still to go. A long line have started comx in, afternoon session I guess
Him; Let’s talk as men
Me; ok almost laugh out
Him; Why don’t u have a fiancée or girlfriend at list
Me; well I had a girlfriend, was a bout proposing to her then she gave me pre conditions to our relationship, seeing me as not being financially capable. We broke up
Him; why haven’t u got someone else
Me; same experience Sir, I don’t know if its with me or everyone else, girls I’ve meet put one’s financial capability above the relationship. Honestly here I was very frank
Him; laughing, u can marry one of them now, after all u will make a lot of money in US
Me; I can’t marry such a woman Sir
Him; I understand u perfectly well, but pls u should get someone and think of settling down, its being responsible, am married my self
Me; I’ll consider that
He pulled a short yellow paper from a attachment on the wall, while writing on it,
Him; what will u be dox in US
Me; I’ll enroll in school to qualify to work in US standard
Him; Do u have family there
Me; Yes
Him; Where will u be staying
Me; started giving the house number
Him; No just the state is ok, just like asking u questions,
Me; xxx
Him; u are highly qualified, didn’t have to ask u so many questions
Me; thank u so much
While handing me the yellow paper
Him; come back on 21st to pick ur package and visa, if u can’t make make, let me know so can put on a different date
Me; of cause I’ll be here, turning to leave, blessed day
Him; same to u
On 21/11/2019 I returned to the embassy, got my Visa and package.
Simon I can’t thank u enough
Will remain in touch

Hi Brit, I understand the visa fee is $330 per head but does it mean the medical examination is free? If not y then has anyone mentioned the cost for the medical? Thanks in advance
November 14, 2019 at 18:22
The medical is not free. But how much it costs varies by country and physician. So – get the approved physicians list and ask them the cost.
November 16, 2019 at 20:35
@cameroon the medical fee is not free since cameroon has two physicians I inquired and got the amount since am also a winner.
Yaounde its 159,000
Douala it’s 144,000

I will like to share my Dv interview experience. Many thanks and appreciation goes to Brit for his tireless efforts to help the general public whose interest is to process their cases. Read everything on this site to get me ready. Patience is what you need for more than on year I was scheduled for interview at the United state embassy in monrovia case#:2019AF240** in June 27,2019.
But it’s always good to prepare and make sure you always go for the truth won as a family of Four (4) . Wife, son, daughter along with me.
You always need to go prepare with whatever documents you can get to show prove . Indeed this nearly cost me my chances.
-Issues I have was my little daughter was born after we played and needed to add her on the ds260
– my son was born outside of my marriage and he was supposed to be legitimize according to our law.. ok
Appear soon morning at the US embassy in monrovia at around 9:00 tho the interview was at 9:00 am with my three derivatives proceeding the security protocols, we all were examined and usher in to the interview hall.
Waiting for over an hour we were call to window for to submit documents including :high school documents
Police clearance
Birth certificate
Affidavit
Married certificate
but as for high school prove, it was just a formality because I had a college degree so it superceeded that and was only verify. Blapp blapp payment of the visa fees for a family of four, about US Dollars $1,320 . Again we were called after few minutes for finger prints. So after few hours like 3:45 pm we were called by the councilor:
Councilor: good morning
Me: good morning
Councilor: can you raise your hands and take the oath
Me: did
Councilor: where and who are you go to in America
Me : ***
Councilor: what they do and how many children?
Me : *******
Councilor: what you want to do when you get to America
Me:*****
Councilor: typing in computer for a moment
Now the problem started, councilor saw all the birth certificate and pointed out my son certificate.
Councilor: why he has a different mommy is he your son?
Me: yeah
Councilor: ok thank you for the interview but we can’t give you the visa at this moment. She requested I do a DNA testing . Pull out a little note showing me how to proceed with the process and told me to be faster so that the time don’t end. So the councilor give our passport back and took all the other documents. I couldn’t prove with a legitimate document from the court to show he was my son. So I immediately contacted my sponsors in the USA to purchase the kit with everything in place . It took around 10 working days to arrive at the embassy in Liberia without much time , we were call to do this voluntary process. Now after all these processes this took over 60 days…this is where you exercise patience and depend on God and his grace . Infact you wouldn’t want to check your status.. saying still administrative process. This case was updated more then 4 times
Finally on the 21 of September I was call to come at the embassy with my passport to talk with a councilor officer.
I got there at 1pm and was called by the same councilor at window 5
Councilor: hi
Me: hi
Councilor: typing in computer look at me and said I will approve your visa
Me : thanks with no excitement but was praising God in my heart. My son is my son it was proven
Hahahaha in this DNA testing stuff you don’t have to pray that your be your child. This can’t change and only hope that the process is transparent
So the councilor give me a chip on September 24,2019 and told me to pick my passports up on October 1,2019…
Many thanks to God for his grace and favors upon my family.. to also Brits who have tirelessly try in helping those who are in need
Now my visa expires in December and will have to do my necessary plans.. thanks
October 12, 2019 at 19:53
I’m glad you got through in time…
October 4, 2019 at 15:33
To add finger prints were taken and documents collected were
1nl, 2nl, birth certificate, medicals, passport, 2passport photo, interview confirmation letter, advanced level,(ordinary level and decree optional but i submitted and they later gave me back), ds260 confirmation page,
Photocopy of identity card and $330.
October 4, 2019 at 15:22
Hello Sir Brit i am very grateful to God for sending you to us when we badly needed help, thank you. I came back to share my interview experience which goes thus:
I am from Cameroon with case number 2019AF46xxx.followed your advice in May 2019 to send document to KCC which i did on the 24th of May. Received a mail on the 9th of June to send documents and on the 14th same month i got the ready for scheduling mail.On the 30th of July i received my 2nl and my interview was slated on th 17th of September 2019.
NOW INTERVIEW PROPER
I arrived the US Embassy in Yaounde Cameroon at 7am bc my interview was at 8:30am. Met a line and after the security checks i was asked to go in where i paid the visa fees of 205000frs because dollar rate went up too bad for those of us with September interviews. I paid to the cashier and submitted all my documents both originals and photocopies seperated then he asked me some few questions like;
1- are u married
2-do u have children
3-why are u not married smiling then gave me a receipt and asked me to seat and wait for my number.After about an hour my number was called i moved to the stand and a black guy ask me thus while typing;
1: are u married
2-do u have children
3-when did u obtain your advanced level i answered then he told me a consular will attend to u later and added good luck. I went back to my seat and after an hour again i was called to another stand this time a white guy smiling i presume he was the CO which i was right and he greeted me good morning i responded smiling too.then he asked me to raise my right hand and swear to say nothing but the trust which i did then the questions follows:
The CO
1-are you married?
2-Do u have children?
3-when did u have ur advanced level
4- highest level of education i said it and he asked from which institution i also told him smiling and full of confidence then he continued
5-where do u intend to stay in the US
6- what do u want to do in the US and lastly Who will u be staying with? Then he kept typing and looked at me smiled and said congratulations and welcome to the United States of America u can come and pickup ur packet in two days. That was it swift and straight to the point. No lies telling. Thanks Brit for guiding me toward my 1year journey it wasn’t easy on my own but with u and all ur directions to us it was easier. God bless u and i pray my experience will help someone too as others experienced helped me. Always say the truth it is very important.
October 4, 2019 at 22:38
Congratulations!
September 28, 2019 at 09:43
Hi Brit. I appeared for visa interviews (DV2019) in June and submitted some documents later (as written in the given yellow paper) which were requested by the CO about five weeks back. My passports are still in embassy and CEAC says AP. Emails and calls to embassy to get what is my case status all these days were futile. Now its almost 30th Sep.
1. Will CEAC change to issued or denied after 30th Sep?
2. Should I ignore CEAC status and wait for embassy call?
3. Is there any possibility for me now to have visa?
Thanks Brit.
September 28, 2019 at 14:58
1. No
2. Yes
3. I don’t know.
September 28, 2019 at 18:20
Thanks Brit. I got following reply from KCC when I wrote to them;
“Your case has been forwarded to the United States Embassy in Colombo. Because your case has been scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application. Any further inquiries regarding this case must be directed to them.”
What does it mean? Is it a case specific reply or just a generic reply?
Thanks once again.
September 28, 2019 at 18:29
A generic reply. KCC don’t know anything about your case – the embassy is handling it.
September 25, 2019 at 08:08
Good morning all and thanks to God for locating me to this site coz it really helped me to stand tall in pursuance of my DV process.
We were scheduled for interview on 04th September at 9:00 am. We woke up early, prayed as a family and proceed to the embassy. At 6:30 we were present and waited for security checks b4 we were allowed to entered. We were given a paper to read inorder to know if you can proceed with the process. The paper state your qualification, dv fees and other criteria for eligibility
For sierra Leonean, the education qualification is GCE or WAESC with 5 credits. It can be 5 credit in any subject, there is no compulsory subject to pass. After reading this paper, we were given a token, called upon to submit our documents (for me as the PA: marriage certificate, GCE and University Result, birth certificate, police clearance, pictures of my family, for my derivatives, only their birth certificate and police clearance were required). After submitting these documents, we did our finger prints and pay $330 per person so we paid an amount totalling $990.
We were latter called by the CO…. hymmmmmmmnm a deep breath was taken. To the CO, our finger print was done again and we swear an oath before the interview process begin.
CO: good morning
All: good morning madam.
The CO looked at a picture of me and my daughter when she was 6 months old and smiled with the words ‘she is so beautiful and grown so well’
CO: what are u doing for your living?
Me: Answered
CO: when did u meet your husband?
Me: answered
CO: How many people attend your wedding?
Me: this question was dramatize whilst answering. I said, hymmmm madam I don’t know, the only thing I will tell u is that my wedding was parked full but to tell u how many people attended, I don’t know. The CO smiled and turned to my husband.
CO: what are u doing 4 your living sir?
Husband answered.
To my daughter,
CO: how old are u?
Daughter: answered
CO: are u marry?
Daughter answered
CO: have u given birth
Daughter answered.
Note that whilst she was asking us these questions she was typing and she stopped and look at us with these words ‘I dont have reasons to reject you, congratulations u are approved’. Because the medical centre has not mailed our result to them on time, she gave us a paper qouting section 221 that we will be approved once our medical is sent and ok. She took our passport and gave us all originals of our document.
Wao! We were also worried upon these statement but we kept trusting in the king of glory who have started the good work. After the interview I was checking my case status, on the 10th it moves from ready to administrative process and on the 11th it moves to issued which we all want to see and on the 18th I collected our package from the embassy.
Thanks Brit for a job well done. May God richly bless u.

Hi Mr.Brit & everyone,
This is our DV lottery visa & interview experience.
2018.05.22 Checked ESC page & got selected (1st NL)
Case No. 2019AS00010800-11000 Colombo / Sri Lanka.
2018.05.25 submitted DS260 ( but unlocked several times to update & add info )
2019.03.30 Received an email in to send electronic documents to KCC
2019.07.22 Received an email to check ESC page for the 2nd NL.
Well we were four & we had our interview last month end. Actually it was 2 weeks prior to the originally scheduled by KCC. Because we were contacted by a embassy staff – a soft spoken very nice gentleman who explained us the benefits of having the interview as early as possible, specially it will allow us to submit whatever missing documents or can replace the ineligible documents before the deadline of 30th September 2019, So we agreed without any hesitation.
On that particular day of interview we went to the embassy at around 1:00 pm (30 minutes earlier) We had to wait in the queue. When our turn came we entered the main gate & cleared the security checks which was very similar kind of checks before boarding a flight at airports.
When we entered the embassy main building,we were given token numbers. At the 1st counter a very good gentleman (must be the same person who contacted us through telephone) briefed us the procedures. Later we paid total visa fees of $1320 ( 4× $330) and waited. Then we were called to another counter where a lady staff asked us to provide the following documents ONLY one by one.
1. Passports & 2 Photographs each
2. Birth certificates
3. Marriage certificate
4. Police clearance
5. Sponsor’s support of affidavit with form I-134 & Tax Statement.
* A/L certificate – they had it already, we need to send them the applied payment card well before the interview date.
*Though we tried to show our bank statements, Account balance confirmation letter and deeds of other asserts in our names but she refused to have a look.
*Didn’t ask any other educational qualifications & job confirmation letter or work experience letter. So we couldn’t submit them neither.
After checking sponsor’s documents her response was that sponsor’s income isn’t enough to sponsor you all. So she returned them back.
NEXT WAS INTERVIEW…
FIRST THING FIRST!…
TAKING OATHS,
PLACING FINGERPRINTS.
1. WHAT WAS YOUR A/L SCORE?
ANSWERED.
2. WHAT WERE THE GRADES- A/L?
ANSWERED.
3. WHAT WERE THE SUBJECTS?
ANSWERED.
4. IS YOUR (SPOUSE) WORKING? IN WHAT FIELD?
ANSWERED.
5. IS ANY RELATIVE OF YOU LIVING IN THE USA?
Yes, My own Sister.
5. HOW DID SHE ENTER IN TO THE USA?
Her husband sponsored her.
6. IS HE YOUR SPONSOR TOO?
No… His income isn’t enough to sponsor.
7. IS HE WORKING IN THE USA? IN WHICH COMPANY?
ANSWERED.
8. WHAT YOU ARE? ARE YOU WORKING?
ANSWERED.
10. ARE THESE YOUR OWN CHILDREN? OR SOMEONE ELSE’S?
ANSWERED.
The CO gave us a yellow color notice paper & it read as…
Next steps are as follows,
Further consideration will be given to your visa application after we receive the item(s) checked below.
* Financial documents/ Affidavit of support form I-134 for DV.
* W2 Income Statement for year 2019
CO; You have 1 year to submit these documents. To make sure we asked again whether we have 1 year to submit & then CO replied “yes you have 1 year” ( I don’t know why he mentioned like that ) & gave back our passports & 1 photograph each from given 2. Anyhow other original documents were retained.
We were so worried!…. thought end of it (because all passports were also given back)
But a staff at the counter explained us though the CO has mentioned you have 1 year to submit, it isn’t that much, Actually you have till end of September 2019 only. Therefore you need to submit those required documents before 20th of September then only it can allow us to have enough time to process.
Anyhow within 10 days we managed to find a very good sponsor with high annual income so we were able to submit those required documents to the embassy with together with our passports.
Few days later we had a call from the embassy and asked to get my sister’s IRS tax transcript for 2018 (though she isn’t our sponsor) But we got it within few hours & emailed it to the embassy on same day.
.
Since then we had been checking the ceac applicant status web page in the morning & evening, and then like almost every hourly in later days. Suddenly on thursday at around 4 pm we were lucky enough to see that surprising million dollar magical word of “ISSUED” in the ceac status page. Alhamdhulillah!(All praise to almighty god) Wow!… What a happy great moment really that was !…. (
just 30 minutes ago it appeared as “administrative processing”)
A week later we had a call from the embassy & asked us to come next day morning 11 for the pick up passports. Following day we got our passports printed with……

INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE.
COUNTRY OF CHARGEABILITY:NRB KENYA.
1NL 16 may 2018
Ds 260 July 2018
Submitted documents on 3 June 2019
My wife was the principal applicant and she had included my child and I at the original entry..We were later blessed with a baby and through this site we learnt how to add a derivative to our ds260,at first we were tense about the whole process, but we Thank Brit for being a wonderful person, we got the courage and strength to keep going..We called KCC and we were told to write an email requesting them to unlock our forms so as to add another person, after 3 days we filled and submitted all our documents..The email for requesting our documents kept coming,we kept sending the documents and one day we decided to counter check by calling KCC and we were told they were perfect and we will be ready for scheduling soon..We we later scheduled on 31st July 2019..
Interview day,we were anxious and nervous,we woke up at 3.30am checked all our documents,PRAYED, prepared ourselves and we were at the consulate gate 1 at 5:45a.m,we found several people on the line,we were taken through the rules and at 6:20am the security clearance started.. Immediately we were asked to go infront of the line because of the kids..We were number one, after the 3gate we could now go to the consulate building,,We went in, filled out a form and was given a token number, which is the identifier from that point, after a while we were called inside to counter no 9..
Officer: Good morning family
Us: morning to you
Officer:I need the principal applicant to submit documents to me
She started with my wife’s documents, then mine and lastly the kids..
Officer;(To my Wife)you really look different from your original entry,(smiling)
My wife smiled back and told her it’s because of the hairstyle..
She took our fingerprints,followed by
Have you ever been married before?
Have you ever been convicted of any crime??
Have you ever served in the military/police??
Have you ever lived in any other country for a year??
(Remember not all answers are no)
She then gave us an invoice to go and pay.We paid and went outside , we waited for probably an hour or so and we were called to counter 6..
C.o:Good morning to all of you?
Us:Hi..
C.O: You need to swear first..
We did.
He requested to take our fingerprints again..
We did…
Types for a while
C.o: what’s your relationship with so and so
My wife: she’s my sister in law
C.O:Are you going to live with your sponsor?
Wife:Yes
C.O:what work does she do?
Wife:. answers
The C.O typed for a while…. Looked at us and went back to typing..
C.O:I already approved your visas and you can now go and pay for you Green card.. Congratulations and welcome to America we were so so happy..We left the embassy..
(All this time my young one was screaming all over and I decided to relax her by moving away so that my wife could answer the questions).
I take this opportunity to thank you BRIT for everything, your advice, the articles,Tips and I pray to God that you be blessed.??????

September 16, 2019 at 20:39
Thanks Brit for guiding everyone of us. Got through the interview and finally got my passport after 14 days of wait. First of all let me tell you all that, DV lottery will really test your patiences limits so be calm and just listen and read the details provided in this blog carefully more than twice.
Sharing my interview experience, I am from Nepal and my interview place was KATHMANDU American Embassy.
First of all I entered form the security gate, and waited in the garden area for sometime. here we were told to take all our documents out of the clear sheet file and put it in order which is mentioned there. Then after few minutes, I entered to main hall, there all my documents and its copy put in ordered and asked me to pay the fees. So the fees of around $350is paid first inside the Embassy on the same day just before your interview begins.
As I was over prepared for my interview, I took all my education certificates, working experiences documents and some other documents that I thought might be useful. But guys all they ask for was two photo, Birth Certificate (both english translated and the original in Nepali), police report, medical documents, SLC result certificate and +2 result certificate and marriage certificate if you are married. you need to bring one photocopy of each. Except this documents, no other documents will be needed.
If you have your dependent, all they asked was for their birth-certificate(both original and english translated), medical report, police report and marriage certificate thats it. They didn’t even bother for any educational qualifications of the dependent. If you are married please do not FORGET to take your Marriage Ceremony Pictures along with you. Consular ask for the pictures so its better you take as many pictures as possible(at least 5 to 10 pics or may an album).
Sponsors.
I had my sponsors filled I- 134 for me along with their 1040 and other pay check documents and a picture of their green card. I am not sure if it is really a must. I had it so just gave it to them.
Nothing mush some questions asked was:
1 When did u get married and where did you meet first?
2 Do you have any kids? How many kids are you planning?
3 What is your relation with the sponsor? Where do she work?
4 Is she married ? Do they have kids?
5 Have you been away from Nepal for more than 1 year?
6 What are you doing currently for living? What is your plan to do in USA?
Thats it no more, easy ones.
I hope this helps. all the best for rest of you.

Hi but having a second sponcorin intervst is a problem
August 20, 2019 at 12:57
I don’t understand the question.
August 18, 2019 at 12:04
Hello Brit,
I have an issue with address.
During the original entry application, I wrote the address for my parents who live in another town. This is the address that I use mostly though I don’t live in that area since 2010.
Currently, I live in another city where I work which should be my current address. I started working here in 2014.
So my question is, should I just write the same address I used when entering the lottery, which is my parents address or should I adjust it to current address in the DS-260.
Any consequence due to the changes?.
Thank you in advance.
August 18, 2019 at 14:37
Make the DS260 accurate.

August 9, 2019 at 12:13
hello, good day…
my question is regarding the foreigh police clearance…..wheni i left the ksa , i have got the certificate which in 2017 slmost one a a half years ago…yet i had left the country ,,never reentered. basically it has been more than a yeat …do i still need to get a new one for the period that i had stayed in ksa….all over agiain or the one i got before i left the ksa. is suffice:…..pl explaon bit confused.thanks.
August 9, 2019 at 14:53
COs will often accept an old police cert in that circumstance – but a new one would remove the question.
August 8, 2019 at 21:14
Brit, for 2019 visa, I got biometrics done just now and all documents have been sent early July but 2NL hasn’t been received yet. Is it over? I was current in July…
August 8, 2019 at 22:02
Only AOS cases do biometrics. So – are you adjusting status in the USA?
August 10, 2019 at 03:48
Brit – yes, adjusting status.
August 10, 2019 at 14:54
So then your process is different to CP – you still have time.
August 12, 2019 at 16:14
Wooo! Ok, fingers crossed, thank you.
August 8, 2019 at 12:56
Thank You very much!
August 7, 2019 at 10:09
Dear Brit
Thank you very much for your quick response on before yesterday. You told me that submitting DS-260 on august 15, 2019 has no problem. Thereafter you said that ‘even if you became current before your DS260 was processed and documents submitted, you would simply have an interview in the first available later month”. Brit, do you mean that KCC will set an appointment for interview even without processing DS-260 and my documents?
Brother, my case no was AF000261xx, May I expect my interview on November or December based on my understanding from your response. I am saying this because If I submitted my DS-260 on August 15, 2019 and took a maximum processing time (90 days), I expect to see the 2NL on Nov 16, 2019 to end day of that month for January interview.
Brit, do you expect that a case number of like mine will be appointed for interview before January? I didn’t feel comfortable that is why I am asking you as I felt to be found in a risk zone (didn’t want to miss my first appointment date as far as my CN is current before January.
Please give me your response based on your rich experiences and prediction capability. Thank you once again beloved Britsimon. Stay saying something anytime to whom they need and have God’s blessings!
August 7, 2019 at 14:15
No. Your DS260 will need to be processed, then documents requested and submitted and your case number will need to be current. ONLY once all that happens can you be scheduled – and scheduling is a couple of months before interviews.
August 7, 2019 at 09:39
Hi Brit.I can’t share my interview story and I don’t know whay
Please give me your email and I will send it to you.it’s a interesting story of wrong country of chargeability .country of origin armenia but choose wrong country of chargeability spain.

August 5, 2019 at 6:05 pm
Hi Brit, my interview is soon in august and I can’t get I-134, but I have in my account aprox 42000 usd, i have an evaluation of my apartament at 52000 usd…Do you think I am financially covered? No need to worry about money? We are a family of three from Europe…
August 7, 2019 at 04:41
Only liquid assets (savings at the bank) will be considered. You might be OK with that at most embassies. Personally, I would avoid the risk of “might” and get an I-134.
August 6, 2019 at 14:51
hello Brith thnx for everything i just want to ask you does it look’s OK that my sponsor in the end write: i intend to make specific contribution for mr. and ms. with bad&food for 12 month and 20.000$ to spend ?? thnx
August 6, 2019 at 17:54
Time limits are unhelpful, but it looks ok.
August 6, 2019 at 18:14
he also has an annual income 170.000$ its is OK , thank you mr.Brit all the best !
August 6, 2019 at 12:07
Good day Brit,
I’m dv 2019 from Sierra Leone and in interview will be on 18 the Sept. Please which one of these two forms is appropriate to be used for Affidavit of support ; I-134 or I-864?
August 6, 2019 at 17:46
I-134. That is covered extensively in the FAQ.
August 6, 2019 at 10:17
Dear Brit,
We have a 3rd query that we need your help with please.
3. For educational institutions and duration of enrollment details:
Should we list only those institutions and time periods from high school to University for both the principal applicant and myself as the spouse
or
should my husband as the principal applicant be the only one required to give full details of his K-12 plus university education institution details as we are applying through the education criteria even though he meets both education and work experience requirements. While for myself as his spouse, will only those educational institutions relating to my high school education and above be detailed?
Hope you can kindly advise us.
Thank you
August 6, 2019 at 17:38
Both should fill in the form as accurately as possible.
August 6, 2019 at 17:42
Thank you very much Brit
August 6, 2019 at 09:49
Dear Brit
Firstly, we’d like to commend and thank you for all your efforts in supporting everyone with their queries.
My husband is a DV 2020 selectee and we are just filling out the form to submit the same and would like your advice in addressing some queries that have arisen:
1. As principal applicant, when my husband is filling his form, for the question : Primary Occupation, there is a drop down menu with several options but none to specifically reflect his field of Finance and Accounting. The closest options we have are BUSINESS or OTHER.
Which one would you suggest we select. BUSINESS or OTHER?
2. As his spouse, when filling my section of the DV-260, for the question: Were you employed previously?
I selected the YES option as I was employed from Nov 1997 to Dec 2008 after which I’ve been a stay at home ever since. As you may notice this was over 10 years ago.
Because I answered YES to the question above about whether I was previously employed, this necessitates that the fields regarding my previous employment be populated to enable me to save my form else it does not allow me to proceed.
What would you suggest? Should I just go ahead and fill the previous employment details with my work experience from over 10 years ago, even though they are specifically asking for experience within the last 10 years to enable us to proceed.
I’m conflicted because I can’t answer NO to WERE YOU EMPLOYED PREVIOUSLY…. nor is it honest if I submit my work experience from over 10 years ago in the fields where they’ve asked for work experience within the last ten years.
Hope you understand where the confusion arises for me and I’d be very appreciative if you can direct me to the appropriate way/answer to the two queries.
Thanks in advance,
August 6, 2019 at 17:34
1. You can choose. It’s not important.
2. Use your best judgement. Again – it really doesn’t matter, particularly as you are the derivative.
August 6, 2019 at 06:17
