September VB released
DV2016 has started!!!
Good numbers for all regions… this is a double edged sword. It will confuse people. The numbers have started high because, as we saw last year, many people did not submit their DS260 forms early or processing delays mean that KCC have to make higher numbers available since many of those numbers won’t be able to be scheduled (because their DS260 forms are not finished). This is the backlog we saw in DV2015. Hopefully it won’t carry on for long.
For those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 2 weeks.
Whilst DV2015 is still processing, this is the first visa bulletin of DV2016. Read this link if you are unsure how to read the visa bulletin.
AFRICA – 9100
Except
Egypt 8000
Ethioppia – 8000
ASIA – 2800
Except
Nepal – 2400
EUROPE – 9150
OCEANIA – 275
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN – 475

Hi simon
I am a 2017 DV selectees and need your advice as I am getting ready to submit the DS 260 form
The officer mistakenly submitted Alice Marrimar Collins during the DV playing but my real name is Alice koon Collins which is on my school document and that of the travelling. Can you tell me what to do as right thing?
August 16, 2016 at 03:35
Some embassies would disqualify you for that mistake. If you want to proceed (accepting the risk), you must make sure the accurate name is on the DS260.
August 15, 2016 at 23:22
Hi Simon
I submitted the DS 260 form on August 1, 2015 and the case number is 2016AF00005xxx. is there any change for KCC to give me an appointment as they have gone current
August 16, 2016 at 03:36
No – you are far too late. What a pity.
November 18, 2015 at 09:44
Please Sir
Please the DS-260 forms does not allow hyphen(-). But my name have a hyphen in it. So I was force to remove the hyphen. So my question is it is going to affect our chance of getting the VISA. I and my husband sent our DS-260 in late August this year and have not received the second notification letter.
November 18, 2015 at 14:44
No it won’t affect your chances. August submissions have not yet received 2NLs – possibly next month.
October 4, 2015 at 12:28
Hello sir, how’re you sir as you suggest me before, I observed some change on my CN i.e asterisks but know the asterisks changed and replaced with bar code what does it show sir? does it indicate something different from the former appearance thank you sir.
October 4, 2015 at 17:16
It means nothing. Ignore it.
September 26, 2015 at 18:37
waw !!! perfect I am very happy thank you I have submitted.
god bless your daughter
September 26, 2015 at 17:29
Thank you for your answer, please when I enter to my DS-260 form for submit it wrote that :
1-(Please correct all areas in error as indicated below. Once you have finished, click ”Sign and Submit Application’ to continue.•
The case number you entered does not match the case number that you entered at Sign In).
2-About change in my 1NL showing highlighted case number
for exemple (*2016AF00001234*), there is no place to put this asterix at the end.
3-please find me a way for this situation ( I write my case num as it is or I will add the asterix ).
best regards,
September 26, 2015 at 17:57
Don’t include the asterisks at all – that probably answers 1, 2 and 3!
September 26, 2015 at 08:19

September 10, 2015 at 10:33
Hi simon
My case no. 2016AF4XX . We have sent DS260 On May 25, 2015. But the Kentucky Center did not send me the interview date . can i sent to the KCC email and inquire about the interview date Or not ? Is the delay in a reply normal?
THANKS
September 10, 2015 at 13:30
Yes the delay is normal for some cases. I would simply wait until the next 2NLs go out (2 to 3 weeks time) you will be in those for a November interview.
September 7, 2015 at 22:55
I and my husband have already send our DS 260. We use my senior brother who is the state as our host. A friend of mine who is also a winner want to use my brothers address as his host too. My brother went to the state just one and half year through this same DV lottery. My question is it is going to affect our chance of getting the visa. Can we use the same host. Please I need help Thanks
September 8, 2015 at 04:06
I would not recommend that – as there is a chance that the second selectee using the host has a problem.
September 6, 2015 at 11:11
Hello sir. I have 2016EU7** case and finished ds form on 9july. Am i supposed to receive 2NL this month?
I also try to check my Visa Status via (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) and it shows: Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number.
Thank you
September 6, 2015 at 14:03
CEAC doesn’t have 2016 data yet.
You might get a 2NL this month, you might not. We can’t be sure of processing times in the early months.
September 4, 2015 at 12:39

September 4, 2015 at 09:14
Hello sir,
I thank you very much for your answer, but I wanted to confirm my ideas because according to your answer I found that I will submit my DS-260 as it is now (the place of the interview is my country ) and after sent it I will write an email to KCC to unlock my DS-260 with which I’ll provide a valid address in the country where I want to be interviewed, and finally resubmit with the new address. Please sir confirm me if this procedure is really the one that you informed me. ( I wait your answer please ).
Thanks in advance,
My best greetings.
September 4, 2015 at 16:11
Yes that is correct.

Read this
https://britsimonsays.com/when-will-i-have-an-interview/
September 1, 2015 at 11:01
ASIA – 2800
Except
Nepal – 2400
What does that mean??
Does it mean 2800 results excluding 2400 results issued for Nepal??
September 1, 2015 at 14:43
It means numbers less than 2800 for Asia are current for October APART FROM cases chargeable to Nepal where the lower limit is in place.
August 31, 2015 at 20:16
Hello Mr.Simon
I sent an email to KCC this morning requesting them to unlock my file and they did after couple hours. And I made my changes as I wanted. I really appreciate their prompt response, thank you for your good advices.
August 31, 2015 at 20:32
Great!
August 29, 2015 at 15:07
Thank very much. I will send an email to KCC and as soon the respond, I will unlock and send it the same day.
August 29, 2015 at 08:47
Hello Mr. Simon
When I was completing my ds-260 I left out all my secondary education, and only listed college qualifications. Now I am a bit worried, scared to unlock my application due to my high case no. 2016afxxx512xxx. And I completed the ds on the 27 June, I am afraid for my case to be pouched far next year.
. Can I unlock and add this part of my educational story or I can just take my certificates to my interview?
August 29, 2015 at 14:52
Unlock it. Your fear about delaying your case is unfounded.
August 29, 2015 at 03:17
Thank you very much.
August 28, 2015 at 05:40
Hello Britsimon,
A) The actual number of educational institution I attended is 4.
1. grade 1 to 7(from 1998 to 2004)
2. grade 8 to 10(from 2005 to 2008)
3. grade 11 to 12
4. University degree
But when I filled DS260 I wrote 3, because I don’t have any proof(certificate and other documents) regarding grade 1 to 7.
Thus, I merged grade 1 to 10 at one institution (from 1998 to 2008). But in my certificate of grade 10,the date of attending the institution is from 2005 to 2008.
Will it cause problem? is the question clear?
B) And in my mark sheet (transcript),the name of my school is Krishnashram MA VI (means Krishnashram Secondary School in English). But in my character certificate name of my school is Shree krishnashram Higher Secondary School. (BOTH ARE DIFFERENT BUT THE RIGHT NAME OF THE SCHOOL). when I filled DS260, I wrote as it is from the transcript i.e. krishnashram ma vi.
Is there something to worry about?
Overall, I have a problem in the date of attending the institution (my mistake) and name of the institution.(nothing wrong but seems something is wrong) In your view, what should I do now?
Thank you very much for your time.
August 28, 2015 at 06:13
a. Not a problem since they ask about secondary education. I normally recommend to list all education, but it should not be an issue in this case.
b. I don’t think that is an issue either.
If these things worry you, unlock the form and correct it.
August 27, 2015 at 11:02
Hi Brit,
Thank you for the advice.
I prefer the 1st option.
August 25, 2015 at 16:09
Please advice. My wife is 6 months pregnant . We played without kid. She may give birth in late November 2015. we have not submitted our DS-260 yet. what should we do, wait until she give birth? our case number is in 15*****
August 25, 2015 at 16:30
You can submit now and add the child later, or simply wait until the child is born. The first option will mean a slightly faster interview. Unlocking to add the child later will cause no delay.
August 24, 2015 at 21:48
Hello again Simon. If I understand you correctly in October can be expected interview for those people who have a case number under 475 (For South America) as long as they have submitted the form DS260. I already submited the form ds260 and i have a case number 2016SAxxxxxx0355. Do you think that I could have chance to have the interview for October?
Thanks for your attention.
best regards
August 24, 2015 at 21:53
You can be scheduled for an interview IF both the following are true.
1. You are current.
2. Your DS260 has been processed. This means submitted by you AND processed by KCC. The processing takes time (could be 3 months), so there will be plenty of people current who have submitted their DS260 and will not get an interview in October because their DS260 is not processed. So – if you submitted in May, you have a good chance of an October interview. Later than that – we don’t know yet….
August 24, 2015 at 22:57
Hello Andres S,
I am also from SA with a CN very close to yours and I am also current for October. If you are from Venezuela I would like to exchange information with you. You can contact me at [email protected]
Regards,
Lara

Dear Sir,
If I may, sir, I have a question for you On the first step of my DS-260 (getting started). I’ll let you know sir that before starting filling the interactive form online I have carefully read the instructions to follow, but unfortunately I made a mistake of which I checked the box where they mentioned the interview location that I will carry out it in my country while I will do it outside my country, then I clicked continue to complete the next steps that come, and when I returned to correct the error I found that the first step is locked (getting started).
My question Mr, how to unlock this step so that I can change the interview location, knowing I have not sent my DS 260 form.
I warmly thank you for your favor to help me resolving the situation so that my steps can be finalized in an optimal way.
best regards,
chouchou.
August 23, 2015 at 06:11
KCC will change the interview location if you provide a valid address in the country where you want to be interviewed. Simply unlock and resubmit with the new address, and at the same time email them to ask to change the interview location.

Hello Simon,
I have been selected for DV2016. My case number is 2016EU5XXX.
However I didn’t complete my DS-260 form yet because I am getting married with my boyfriend in 2 days. So I wanted to be married before completing the form.
Is it too late for us?
If we send the form next week, can we be scheduled for an interview in November (as my number is current).
Thank you for your help,
Best regards,
Julie
August 22, 2015 at 20:05
It isn’t too late – but once you submit the DS260 it will take some time before you can be scheduled. I am not certain on that time delay yet (since DV2016 hasn’t started) but it will probably be around 3 months. So – submitting next week will probably mean an interview in January (December earliest, possibly as late as February)
August 20, 2015 at 05:29
Hello Brit Simon
Forget about the previous question I did not read the full article from the bulletin properly.
regards.
