Why do cases get denied? I thought this would be an interesting topic, which is something people often ask about.

I don’t know.
April 2, 2020 at 13:09
Hi Simon,
I have mis-spelled a letter in my dad names and also included my mums alias name in her name section in the ds-260. Is this a major risk. Would it be wise to request to unlock ds260 to correct it?
April 2, 2020 at 13:11
I wrote my mums name as A B C…but B is actually here “also know as” name.
April 3, 2020 at 01:24
Not a big problem. No need to correct before the interview.
November 5, 2019 at 13:23
hey simon am a DV2020 selectee from uganda. i and my husband were selected but on the initial DV entry i entered as single and my husband entered as married. but we did a traditional ceremony and our certificate isnt certified nor registered with the local government.
my question is can i process mine as single or his as married?
And thanks for the work we truly greatful
November 6, 2019 at 03:29
Process on the one that is TRUTHFUL. You may be asked to explain the other entry – so answer honestly.
November 11, 2019 at 19:33
Hello Mr Brit’s first all I would like to thank you for all the advises and guiding you did to me. I got my visa. Thank you very much and God bless you richly. I have a question for you sir can I go to another different state other than the one I wrote on my DS260 or where my sponsor is? Because my wife has been asked by her relative to book plane to another state where she has been promised a Job will that cause me delay at the port of entry?
November 3, 2019 at 19:19
Hi Simons would like to ask on number 7 my brother is selected for DV 2020 and has Hepatitis B , can this be a problem when he is scheduled for interview ? Thanks
November 4, 2019 at 14:29

October 29, 2019 at 20:29
hi Brit,
today i found that in the original application I’ve added my wife and my kid but under the “spouse section” i selected that my wife has a US citizenship by mistake.
but in the DS260 application, i entered the correct information for my wife.
will this cause a denial for my application or they will take they will process based on the information mentioned in the DS260 not the original application?
thanks,
October 30, 2019 at 04:17
I think there is some risk. Only the CO can decide.
September 24, 2019 at 21:02
Hi Brit,
I had my interview early is this month and the person who made the interview with me said everything is OK, then after a few days my visa status turn to AP.
My question is: there are only 6 days remains until the ends of dv2019 , So is it possible that my visa denial if the AP does NOT finish until 30th of Sep??
September 25, 2019 at 02:44
The case cannot be approved once September 30 has ended.
September 20, 2019 at 10:10
Do we need to include only children that will be immigrating with us on the application or all biological children? There is one biological child of my husband that is 24yrs but we have no contact with him.
September 20, 2019 at 22:31
They only want children under 21 listed.
September 16, 2019 at 13:41
Hey Brit!
Had my interview on 12 of September. Brought only 1 photo instead of 2. My stupid mistake, I know.
Officer said that everything is fine, except photo.
So I took photos and left them in the embassy’s gates, as was said in the paper I received from officer.
Now my case is on AP.
Is it because of this situation with photo, or some other reason? How can I know?
September 16, 2019 at 17:25
I don’t know.
September 8, 2019 at 12:51

September 4, 2019 at 12:17

I finished already my high school 2 years ago and am finished grade 2 medical school and iam not working before but i can stop continuing my studying .
There is any proplem in my application?
August 31, 2019 at 04:14

August 21, 2019 at 04:19
Hi simon, if i already have filled my ds260 with my 1st nationality and then i discovered that its one if the banned countries and now i have a 2nd passport that i orded just now can i change it now or is it too late?
August 21, 2019 at 22:16
How can I answer when you don’t tell me about your case number (with year and region).
August 22, 2019 at 12:54
I’m sorry about that 2020As30×××…and please know that i answered in the ds260 form that i have only one passport and its the banned one but i can order the new one which is not banned and change my answers in the ds260. Is that possible ?
August 22, 2019 at 16:38
So you have lots of time. You can unlock and correct the DS260.
August 22, 2019 at 19:35
Thank you so much ?
August 20, 2019 at 13:51
Hi Brit,
I have two concerns today.
I need to know if it is risky for me to marry my fiancee right now and unlock the DS-260 and add her as wife. On the original entry and on the DS, I am single.
1.Should forego marrying now and face the interview alone then marry her later or should I get the marriage certificate with her and go to the interview with her?
2. On I-134, does the sponsor need some kind of authority say a lawyer to sign it before sending me or just her signature is enough?
3. She has a family of 4 in her house, sponsoring me will be five under her roof, does how much does she have to earn annually, above the poverty line to sponsor me.
Sorry for the many questions.
I thank you for your selfless spirit! Looking forward to hearing from you?
I am DV 2020AF10xxx?

Hello birt, I don’t understand English at all if by chance there will be articles on this subject. I would very much like to know about these errors in advance thanks.
August 19, 2019 at 16:06
It’s an important topic. get someone who understand English to explain my comments.
August 30, 2019 at 22:56
Isn’t it a requirement that you can speak English in order to make a chance of moving to the United States?
August 30, 2019 at 23:33
No
August 19, 2019 at 14:14
Hello, I wanted to ask something. I don’t understand English at all. Wouldn’t this article be random because I would like to know about these errors in advance thanks
August 19, 2019 at 11:48
Hello,
Please advice me. I’m a single mum with a 10 years old daughter. I got her a birth certificate 5years ago but I never indicated the name of the father. Reason being the father has never supported me financially and neither has he ever been interested in meeting the daughter.
My question is: If I win the DV 2021 Lottery with my daughter, will the US Embassy in my country (Kenya, Africa) ask why I have not included the father’s name in the birth certificate?
Please respond.
Thank you.
August 19, 2019 at 12:55
No.
August 19, 2019 at 13:20
Thanks
August 18, 2019 at 02:35

August 18, 2019 at 04:27

August 17, 2019 at 12:10

August 17, 2019 at 20:45
Not normally, no.
August 15, 2019 at 13:10
How can I change my sponsor of DV 2019
August 15, 2019 at 17:17
You provide sponsor details at the interview.
August 27, 2019 at 10:49
Hi Brit.. I put my uncle as the sponsor or person recieving me when I get to the USA, pls will I need an affidavit of support from him?
August 27, 2019 at 16:38
That would be the safest option, yes.
August 15, 2019 at 00:56
Hi Mr Brit thank you so much for your movie. It’s help us
May I know which picture are you talking about the one we took while playing the lottery or both brought at the appointment?
August 15, 2019 at 04:22
The one in the entry period.
August 14, 2019 at 10:06
I had a successful interview yesterday in Dublin, Ireland. This blog has been invaluable in understanding process and avoiding simple pitfalls. I’ll post an interview experience story in the coming days. Thank you, Simon.
November 29, 2019 at 17:01
Hi there
I will be interviewed in Dublin too in 2020.
Can you please tell me about your experience .. please.
Thanks
August 14, 2019 at 08:12
Hi Britt. if your hubby got a green card then take a passport as single not married and during green card application he was single. What can be done to update his status us married if the passport shows he is single.please reply. Thanks
August 14, 2019 at 10:11
What are you talking about? Are you saying he married after getting the Green Card OR he was already married but chose to lie?
August 14, 2019 at 07:12
Good morning sir,
I’m a selectee for further processing fiscal year 2020. my question is related to the 5 mistake (photo). because as i remember when filling DV entry, i have mistakenly added previous year used photo to it. does it can be a problem to my case?
August 14, 2019 at 10:07
Possibly. They strengthened the wording on reusing old photos from previous lotteries a couple of years ago. BUT Up to DV2019 they have not started disqualifying cases for that, but they may start in DV2020 – we don’t know yet.
October 27, 2020 at 14:22
Hello Brits, Please i want to know if anyone was denied visa because he used a previous Photo, I’m worried because i did use previous photo
October 27, 2020 at 20:47
Following instructions helps avoid worrying.
Generally this would not result in disqualification.
August 13, 2019 at 22:59
i hated this blog -_- his admin think that every one is capable to understund that english…i dont think it s a good idea to change every thing into videos ..yeah i m not good in english but me and the most yoyr blog visitors dosent understund it well..so XXXX EDITED BY SIMON XXX seo if you care about it and care about your visitors
August 14, 2019 at 01:24
1. WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE. There is no need for swearing – and I do not appreciate your swearing. My child reads these comments sometimes, so if you can’t talk in an adult manner, find somewhere else to post.
2. I understand your point about people not understanding English. I have explained just about everything thousands of times on my blog. I have many FAQs and all the information is written many times over. Since one of my challenges is repeating the same thing over and over again, I made the decision to create the videos. The videos give **me** a new interesting way to reach people that don’t read what I have written. Some will prefer reading the blog, others will prefer the videos.
3. As for me caring about my visitors, show me what you have done for several hours per day, almost every day of your life for the past 6 years trying to help strangers from around the world. I suspect you won’t be able to come up with much. So think before you make stupid comments about how I should “care”.
August 24, 2019 at 14:47
Excellent reply! If you don’t find the blog useful or user friendly to you, kindly exit. Simon has been working tirelessly here.
August 13, 2019 at 18:17
Hi brit I have 2 questions

2: my CN is 2020 AS24xxx i didn’t submit my ds form yet , if i submit it in December it will be too late for submission ?
August 14, 2019 at 01:27
1. Normally the ediucation certificate is not a problem, as long as the CO is sure that it is YOUR certificate.
2. No.
August 13, 2019 at 14:58
Hi brit.my wife was issued with a visa a month ago.but she was called to return her visa through a courier.but then the courier refused saying they only return visas which have errors
.Then her status changed from issued to ready.
1.are issued visa supposed to be returned ?
2. Should the embassy inform you through an official means rather than a call
3.why did the status at ceac change from issued to ready
4. does it mean she will go for another interview
August 13, 2019 at 16:03
1. Not normally.
2. They can do whatever they want.
3. I don’t know.
4. I don’t know.
You asked me about this 5 days ago and I asked for more information – but you did not answer, so I have no idea of the circumstances.
August 13, 2019 at 13:43
hello mr. Brit. Well done for the video really appreciate. But please i have a worry concerning number 8 rule fail to follow the process. Please on my original entry E-DV i mixed up my last name and first name. (Didn’t understand the notion last name and first name). This is because it is not used in my country that way. But on my DS260 I corrected the error and filled it correctly. Looking at your video and your comment on error on names, please i wish to ask if this will cause denial at interview? Thanks for reading. 2019AF46xxx from Cameroon
August 13, 2019 at 14:06
It should not be a problem if you have an otherwise good case. If that was one of multiple errors it would be more of a concern.
August 13, 2019 at 08:10
Hello Simon, If I applied for the DV lottery in October and I have one child which I included in the DV lottery together with me then I get a baby in January after I have already submitted the original entry, what is the procedure of including this baby in my applications
August 13, 2019 at 13:39
You use the “add applicant” button on the ds260. You also add the infant to your ds260.
August 13, 2019 at 02:21
Hi brit, interview day consular said all documents ok.your high school qualification also ok.but you used old methods to submit A/L certificate. Its ok.but your medical doctor didn’t mark one question in your husbands medical reports.you again correct it and send us.dont worry bcoz your husband now husband in Ap.and he gave me 221(g) paper.only that and congratulat us and happily we went out. After the embassy counter ,worker said to us they couldn’t submit A/L with a old methods, send in new methods (yellow card then they can collect directly my high school certificate from the educational department)
After the interview in CEAC visa checks sites they show my and two kids cases ready and husbands case in AP .
They update 3 times my case 3 weeks passed.im very confused.still in the same state. We gave all supporting documents they ask.1.why this is Brit?
2. Are they denial my visa after 60 days brit?
3.in September 23rd 60 days complete for my case were AP.before September 30 if they are not changing my state issued.my case automatically become Denial.am I correct?
4.how can I contact them.?we want to ask what were happen. We send mail sevaral time and they didn’t respond. What can we do brit?
August 13, 2019 at 05:09
1. I don’t know.
2. I don’t know.
3. Sort of. The case will just stay on AP if not decided by September 30th.
4. Keep trying.

hi brit. What are the solutions to avoid the refusal of at the risk of becoming a public charge. Acknowledging that I am an African student (in master1) of 28 years who has never worked? I ask this question because I chosen to work in engineering in the usa

Hello! Does the photo we’ll bring to the interview have to be the same as the one we submitted in the original entry?
August 12, 2019 at 19:53
It should NOT be the same one.

Hi Brit,
What are the implications for the DV-LOTTERY regarding this Rule?
https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-announces-final-rule-enforcing-long-standing-public-charge-inadmissibility-law
(Reason6)
Thanks in Advance.
August 12, 2019 at 19:50
ah ok I just read your answer above, sorry.
August 12, 2019 at 23:54
🙂
August 12, 2019 at 19:51
The climate around immigration is “hardening”. So – whilst this might not be any real change in the laws (public charge was already a factor), the general direction/pressure is against immigrants.
August 12, 2019 at 16:12
Hello Brit,
Thanks alot for your endless support and advice on our cases. My worry according to your video is concerning denial base on 5th reason(photo requirement).I wish to know if their judgement is base on the photo used during entrying or the ones to be submited during the interview?
Next ,what are they verifying on the photo: the prescribe dimension or the quality of the photo? Thanks for your kind attention.
August 12, 2019 at 19:35
Did you watch the video? I mentioned it is (for example) simple errors like mixing up the photos between spouse and selectee in the original entry. It is NOT the dimensions.
August 12, 2019 at 15:41
Hi, Mr. Simon maybe this is a stupid question, but I need to do it…
In what way can I prepare for the interview?
My Case Number is 2020SA26XX
I already have sent the documents to KCC and I recieved the following response
***…… You have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center……………..***
Thanks again.
August 12, 2019 at 19:32
Read the instructions/rules, read my blog, take up yoga.
August 12, 2019 at 14:43
Hi Brit;
In accordance with new US rules for visa by trump administration, stated that Applicants will now need to show higher levels of income to get a visa, and the rule greatly expands the list of government benefits that would disqualify them from obtaining U.S. residency.
my concerns:
a) Does this have impact on green cards applicants(based on your 6 point Public charger)?
because if so, having work experience or education requirements, may not be sufficient?
b)What’s your reaction with this new rules as far green cards are concerned shall 2020 DV applicants require to present their income status before granted visa or not?
Kindly advice accordingly.

thanks

a. The climate around immigration is “hardening”. So – whilst this might not be any real change in the laws (public charge was already a factor), the general direction/pressure is against immigrants.
b. That is already the law – and covered in my video.
August 12, 2019 at 14:13
Thanks Brit for the 9 reasons of denial. That is true. Followers do so. You
August 12, 2019 at 13:57
Hi Mr Brits,
Good morning .Thanks a lot we are already in the states.Thank you for everything.please, but one thing ,other documents were taken to us but our X-rays were not taken. Can you please let me know if we failed to give them at a particular point on our way .Thanks in Advance.
August 12, 2019 at 18:25
That is normal – they almost never take the xrays.
