The 9th circuit of appeal UNANIMOUSLY judged that the block on the travel ban continue to be blocked. This re-affirms the order made by the Federal judge and means the travel ban remains lifted. The appeal was held by a phone call two days ago (and made available on streaming for anyone to listen to, which is a very good transparency).
This is a major blow for Trump’s administration. They can do one of three things now.
- Lodge another appeal (this would most likely go to the Supreme court)
- Withdraw and try and come up with another policy and do a better job.
- Continue the security improvements but without any travel bans.
I don’t know what he will do, but Trump will obviously be in a rage about this sinc e it is another lesson in the way the USA is run. The president of the USA is not dictator. Laws and the other branches of government must be respected.
You can read the ruling here.

Hi Brit, so i am confused. They again ban the muslim from entering to US?
February 20, 2017 at 16:06
Right now, there is no ban. Trump has talked about another executive order but we don’t know what that one will say.
February 19, 2017 at 23:07
Dear Simon

February 19, 2017 at 23:38
I don’t advise on cases other than DV lottery.
February 18, 2017 at 11:40
Dear Brit, What is your personal thought in this sentence quoted from Washington post “The president said on Thursday that in order to withstand the legal challenges, his lawyers are now preparing a more narrow executive order that is likely to exempt green card holders, students, tech workers and those with longstanding connections to the United States.” if this becomes true do you think that dvlottery winners affect ? thanks
February 18, 2017 at 14:42
I don’t want to speculate further based on speculation.
February 17, 2017 at 16:32

February 17, 2017 at 21:13
Let’s wait and see what he does…
February 17, 2017 at 11:26
Brit, is it possible that, in an attempt to fight the court’s claim that the President might have discriminated against Muslims, Trump now bans immigration from ALL countries?
February 17, 2017 at 14:16
Anything is possible with that idiot.
February 17, 2017 at 16:29
Jeez, but kind of unlikely no??

February 16, 2017 at 11:02
Hi BRIT, we are family of 3 arrived one week ago from sudan.every thing was fine at POE at Washington AID airport I would like to ask 2 questions:
1/ we went to social security administration and he tells us to come 10 days after date of arrival, is that OK?
2/ I checked my green card status in USCIS there is new welcoming massage for me the wife(DV1) and child (DV3) but not for my husband (DV2) dose it means anything specially we wonder that the first officer at POE open file for me and child and gave the envelope of my husband and tell him to go inside for immigration where his envelope opened.

February 14, 2017 at 17:38
1. I don’t have specifics on rescheduled interviews. Either contact the embassy or arrive at the previously scheduled time.
2. Use your own judgement.
February 14, 2017 at 19:25
Regarding 2nd piont i mean is the low tax payment effect the approval of my status ?? Or all they need to know is theres someone there for u and can take care of u ??

Hi Simon,
Which date is considered as submission date if somebody unlocked and re submited. Since submission dates affect the 2nd NL sent out? Do they consider the initial date as submission date or the date of resubmission?
February 13, 2017 at 17:27
1st submission. Some types of changes made in unlocking could cause some delay.
February 13, 2017 at 11:44

Hey Brit!!
My girlfriend was selected for the Dv-2017 and we decided to marry so that we both can go together. But while filing the DS-260 we gave the date of marriage February 15, 2016 so that it is more convincing as it doesn’t seem that we married because my girlfriend was selected. Now we have our interview scheduled for 23rd March and we married last month socially. Do the CO find out that we are lying about our marriage date?? We have all wedding photographs, video dated back one year so the CO doesn’t find out. Does this lying affect my visa? What shall I tell the CO if he asks about my marriage date? Should I tell the truth or say that we married 1 year ago?? Do they have resources to find out about the actual date?
February 13, 2017 at 06:05
What an idiotic thing to do. I don’t know if they will catch you, and I am not going to suggest anything to hide or compound your lie. There are other people who deserve my help and have not lied to commit fraud.
February 12, 2017 at 20:33
Have sent ds260 in 18th may, and number is current for April, any backlog can effect? Never opened 2nd time
February 13, 2017 at 00:25
No.
February 12, 2017 at 13:39
Hey Simon,
My interview should’ve been tomorrow as per the the 2NL that I received early this year, before KCC has canceled all scheduled interviews according to the EO,
I want to know if there’s any canceled interviews has been rescheduled in the past few days,, Knowing that Im from one of the affected countries.
All your work, knowledge sharing this whole website is much appreciated,
February 12, 2017 at 14:13
Interviews are being rescheduled, but it is up to the embassy to do so.
February 13, 2017 at 17:21
BritSimon, Thanks for your reply,
Just want to share this with you in your website, as i mentioned yesterday when I first received my 2NL (a month ago) it says that my visa interview is scheduled to be at 13-Feb which is today, and at sometime last week or the week before, KCC send me an email saying that all scheduled interviews are canceled as for the current time (about the time the EO take affect) and that I should wait for further notice,
This morning just to clear my mind I called the embassy where my interview should be and i asked about my appointment status, Guess what,, the woman at the office reply was “yes sir, your interview is today and we’ll be expecting you at 12:30 pm”, that was 2 hours away from the time i was talking to her, i was completely shocked and i did a lot of crazy stuff until i reach the embassy,
anyway long story short, 12:30 I was at embassy entrance by the time they called me to review my documents the man in the office was asking me too many questions and at some point i was thinking that am not passing this interview cause i thought he’s the consular, he took all the documents and say wait for the consular to call your name, OK , the consular him self only asked 3 questions, where have you born!, what is your job! and who you’re going to stay with at the US and then he ask me to go back to the man i was with in the first place (the documents collector), where he says only two things, congrats and wait for your passport, and i still dont know what does it mean Simon, didn’t want to ask him again so he wont change his mind, lol.
What I’m trying to say here is all scheduled interviews are in its place and people with their 2NL’s should attend at the mentioned time.
February 13, 2017 at 17:24
It sounds like yours is approved – but yes – some people are finding that embassies have re-instated their original interview. I’ll post an article to get the word out….
February 14, 2017 at 19:21
So i have an interview on 28 of march and am sudanese do u think i should go am trying to contact the embassy but they didnt replay , should i conduct my interview i mean keeping collecting my documents and so on and then show up on the exact da ??
February 11, 2017 at 23:40
Dear brit I have a question
Currently I have a document on my martial status I filled single and my certificate says single but on remark beginning from 2008 does it matter brother?
February 12, 2017 at 00:33
I have no experience with that document. So I don’t know.
February 11, 2017 at 05:34
according to some media sources, Mr Trump is going to introduce a new EO as a replacement of the previous one. This could be an a amendment to the previous and frame in a manner that can not be be challenged legally or may be he is going to have a new one without banning any country but improve security measures.
February 11, 2017 at 06:07
Yes I know what is being reported. But what Trump is about to do is a mystery to pretty much everyone – so let’s not speculate about it until and *if* it is released.
February 11, 2017 at 04:33
Dear Britt, what does it mean this Sentence cited from bbc.co.uk “But the ruling does not affect one part of Mr Trump’s controversial executive order: a cap of 50,000 refugees to be admitted in the current fiscal year” does that mean the 50,000 dv lottery selectees will be admitted or 50,000 of all refugees will be admitted ? on the other hand, my case is around 258xx changeable to Ethiopia and I think the visa bulletin of coming month will include so according to the doubtful case will I fully fully rely on the current ruling and prepare my trip ? your consultation is very helpful to me thanks .
February 11, 2017 at 05:28
Any reference to refugees is entirely separate to the DV lottery.
February 11, 2017 at 00:15
Dear Brit ;
My Case Number is AF40***- I sent my DS260 on 3 June 2016 and never Unlock it, And I’m divorced. While I were reading the required documents, I found out the marriage certificate is mentioned there.
1-According to my marital status, Is it necessary to bring the marriage certificate to the interview ? or the divorce certificate will be enough?
2- I’m afraid I filled the date of Marriage wrong 🙁 , what should I do ? should I unlock the application now and correct it ? or it is OK since the divorce date is correct ? what are the consequences if I unlock the application now ?
Please help me I’m totally afraid !
February 11, 2017 at 01:02
1. Divorce cert is normally enough. Take the marriage cert if you have it.
2. The marriage date won’t matter, but since you are waiting anyway, why not unlock and correct it. There is no downside to doing that.
February 11, 2017 at 12:00
Dear Simon thanks for your reply:
I don’t have the marriage certificate as i’m not in my country, but I can bring it anyway.
1.What I’m afraid of if I unlocked it, they might delay my interview, and I have to say i’m afraid of this especially I don’t know what Trump can create again, especially I’m supposed to interview after 3 months , How much delay is expected ?
2.If the delay too much, Do you recommend correcting the date or simply ignore that since it doesn’t matter alot?
3.I read in a website that you can tell the consular officer during the interview that the marriage date is incorrect, Is this true ?
Thanks for your patience
February 11, 2017 at 13:56
1. Like I said. No downside. No delay.
2. How many times should I say this?
3. Would you RELAX!!! The marriage date mistake is trivial. YOU ARE DIVORCED. So it doesn’t matter. READ my original reply.
February 10, 2017 at 21:05
What do you think next week “national security measures” will be? unlikely to affect visas / travel directly, given current legal process ongoing…
February 10, 2017 at 21:07
Who knows what is in his mind.

are the us embassies in affected countries reschedule the interview for DV visa
February 10, 2017 at 18:49
Yes.
February 10, 2017 at 16:26
Hi Brit. Quick question.
I got a call from the Embassy this morning here in London and they rescheduled my interview to earlier on the same day I had in March. They said they’d send me a confirmation email but they haven’t yet.
Is this a common change? Should I try reaching out to reconfirm? It seemed official to me but I haven’t received the email. I don’t want to be in a position where I show up on time and they don’t let me in until my original (now old) interview time.
Thanks.
February 10, 2017 at 16:27
This change doesn’t have to do with the travel ban btw, sorry if any confusions surface. I’m not from the affected countries.
February 10, 2017 at 16:45
The interview is in MARCH. You have time to wait to see if you get an email.
February 10, 2017 at 11:16
Thank you for all your efforts.
I know it is hard for you to tell, but what do you think will happen now to DV selectees from the affected countries, especially to those who had their interviews canceled?
February 10, 2017 at 14:33
Hello BritSimon.
Is it necessary for my spouse and children over 16 years old to get Police Clearance?
Thanks.

February 10, 2017 at 15:15

February 10, 2017 at 14:47

February 10, 2017 at 11:13
Dear Simon
I am from Iran. My family and I passed our interview in Abu Dhabi last December and our documents are in Administrative processing right now.

I am worry about my wife’s condition.
If possible I want to write a letter and ask them to follow my document in Administrative processing quickly.
If you are agree, how can I do?
February 10, 2017 at 14:50
No you cannot “push them”. You simply have to wait.
