Sadly the government have extended the travel ban to another 20 countries. People from these countries are banned from entry (starting January 1, 2026)
Existing LPRs, people in the USA already and people holding visas are exempt from the ban.
Exemptions can also be granted for people holding a second nationality and passport of an unbanned country.
Countries added to the banned list:- Burkina Faso Mali Niger South Sudan Syria Angola Antigua and Barbuda Benin Cote D’Ivoire Dominica Gabon The Gambia Malawi Mauritania Nigeria Senegal Tanzania Tonga Zambia Zimbabwe (Plus people holding Palestinian Authority travel documents)
Countries already banned: Afghanistan Burma (Myanmar) Burundi Chad Republic of the Congo Cuba Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Haiti Iran Laos Libya Sierra Leone Somalia Sudan Togo Turkmenistan Venezuela Yemen

Do you recommend people from these banned countries to interview and wait for the ban to be lifted (hopefully), or is it better to keep rescheduling the interview until the last minute of FY26?
Can a rejection be converted to a visa issuance if the ban if lifted?

Personally I would delay the interview, because I think the ban will probably stay in place for a long time.

Hi Britt,
Always gratefull for your guidence – I am a LPR got here 2023, followed your guidance and it has been great. I just have a quick quesiton that could benefit many of your followers. I am Nigerian but benefited from my Wife who is German. What happens to someone like like me who is not the direct derivative. Like a Sudanesse affected by the ban but us married to a UK citizen.. If the family applies for the visa, and he is the only one still with a Sudanesse Passport, will the bann be applicable to him, noting that he is coming to the US under a UK citizenship and not Sudaesse.
