The Visa bulletin was released last night. Quite simply, it shows all regions and countries current. That will help Egyptian and Nepal cases to some extent, but for those cases in Nepal and Egypt, the real question is what capacity will their embassy make available.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a hadful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hi Sir
I’m a dv22 selectees and i think that in this edition the cn is not always the Key!! I’m from Algeria and my Cn is AF178** and until now i have not received the 2nl while my friend with a Cn 479** received it for August. For info, he submitted his ds on may and mine in July.
August 6, 2022 at 19:45
It has been clear for a long time that CN is not the only controlling factor for interview scheduling.
August 9, 2022 at 18:57
Thank you for your reply above. I know one girl who is anxious of her eligibility…she Already completed secondary education(10 yrs) and also has vocational school(2+ yr)……her concern is this: on her first dv entry vocational education is present but on ds there is no option which says:”vocational edu.”…..and her interview location she chose is US EMBASSY Addis….and on the https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/ADD-Addis-Ababa.html it says 10+3(vocational) is no more accepted….how this could be done while the first dv entry(ds 5051) has the option of vocational education??? i need your thought on this Simon
Sorry for my long post
August 12, 2022 at 00:12
The option on the first entry is statistical collection of data. The point is not everyone who enters the lottery can qualify for the visa.

Thank so much for your response. But I never really added that name on the ds-260 and that is my worry now.
July 30, 2022 at 18:31
Salam Brit,
I admire your job on dv cases, thankyou. My question:
Dv 2023
*cn AF 158***
* ds sumbitted july 8(after 62 days the website started to receive)
will i be skipped on the ds processing?
thanks in advance,
August 2, 2022 at 12:27
No
July 27, 2022 at 12:09
Good morning Mr Brits,
Thank so much for all your support. Please l have serious issues that I need your advice. My wife won dv 2022 and she just got her second letter for interview but there is a problem. On the Ds 260 we mentioned that I have high school certificate but through out my grade school education I was using my Grandfather name and that the name on the certificate, but all the other documents including passport, marriage certificate, police certificate, birth certificate that my father name I used. Please l don’t want to miss this opportunity. Will this disqualify me ? What can I do to settle this problem?
July 29, 2022 at 11:53
Not normally a problem. You simply need to make clear it is your education document. Personally I would also have added that name in the “other names” section of the DS260
July 25, 2022 at 15:45
Dear Mr. Simon. Thank you very much for your valuable guidance, I could not have pulled through this stage if not for your valuable advice from last August. You are one of the few who helps the people like us. I faced the interview it did not take longer than 3 minutes. But was bit confused at the document submission counter prior to that stage. Hope you would give me your views on these concerns.
1. At the counter I was asked about my derivative. I have already emailed the Embassy that my child will not be attending the interview (He is a F1 already in the US and seemed aged out by the date I got current. So I did not bring him down). Surprisingly, the counter officer said that either he can face the interview at the Embassy once I am granted or he can submit the application. My child is now 22 years! Can I think that this is a mistake?
2. My High school Diploma document was returned, and my employment letters were also returned. Only my degree document was taken in. Is this normal or varies from Consulate to Consulate?
3. At the Counter, I submitted I-134 together with W-2 and IRS documents, but among the returned documents I found that the W-2 and IRS (only I-134 was taken in). Do I have to email those again?
4. The CO said my visa tentatively approved but I will be notified after 2 weeks and not to make any travel arrangements. I was issued with a paper saying that your non-immigrant visa tentatively approved. You will be notified about possible visa issuance. What does this mean? Is this what called as AP?
5. Do you think that I have to email about 2 and 3? or just wait until I hear from the Consulate? Will I be asked to submit if any more documents needed or my application will be “rejected” without any notice/reasons?
I value your views please. Thanks for bearing with me.
July 26, 2022 at 12:46
1. Yes it is a mistake.
2. Normal
3. No
4. Sort of, its normal.
5. Just wait for further news/instructions.

Hi Simon,
I am a DV2022 winner and my case number is 2022AF5811X. I got a response from KCC on June 6th that my case number is now current for interview processing. My embassy is Casablanca Morocco and per the data on “savediversityvisa.org”, they have cases that are “Ready” that have higher numbers than mine. Does this mean that it is likely I will get my interview scheduled soon? Thank you
June 26, 2022 at 20:54
You have to wait and see.
June 24, 2022 at 20:35
Hi sir my case numer is 20XXX and i have not submitted DS-260 FORM, is it too late ?

Year and region??
June 23, 2022 at 23:07
Hello Simon, I’m a DV selectee. My CN is 2022AF3**** and country of chargeability is Egypt. Based on last month’s VB my chance of getting an interview was impossible, but now, I’m a bit hopeful. Fingers crossed they have everything sorted & increase their capacity at the embassy.
June 26, 2022 at 18:18
Good luck.
June 23, 2022 at 15:36
Hi Simon, thank you for all the updates. Please I have a worry. When filling the ds 260 form , the question about the Vaccines according to the us Law was answered yes. But actually we only have the W.H.O international yellow card.We haven’t taken the covid , vaccine yet. Should I unlock my ds 260 and change to No?
June 26, 2022 at 18:11
No need to unlock. It will be addressed at the medical.
June 23, 2022 at 14:27

June 26, 2022 at 18:10

June 22, 2022 at 13:38
Hi Sir!
Hope you doing great?
I’m a DV 2022 successful winner and my case number is 6077*, I did my ds260 August 18 2021 and my case status says at NVC but I haven’t getting 2NL but other cases that more higher than mine are getting 2NL. Can I know why NVC chose to go that way?
June 26, 2022 at 17:57
I have no idea.
June 22, 2022 at 11:19
Hi sir,I have one question
Husband and wife can separate applaction submit during the dv entry are both can submit only one entry?
June 26, 2022 at 17:56

June 22, 2022 at 11:16
Hi
June 21, 2022 at 20:28
Hi Brit !
I’m from Argentina, case n 17xx still waiting 2nl, I already sent mails to Kcc , they says they have my forms, etc… Also ask to Argentina embassy and they said Kcc must schedule interview . Higher cases already got their visas . What do you think ? Thanks a lot !
June 26, 2022 at 16:36
The embassy tell KCC their capacity and KCC choose which cases to schedule, supposedly on case number order.
June 26, 2022 at 16:45
Thanks Brit, so i have to wait ..
June 21, 2022 at 15:33
hi simon pls am a lucky winner of dv2023,but in filling my passport details i wrote D444 instead of A444.would that be of a problem, am a lawyer.thanks
June 21, 2022 at 16:13
No. The passport rule is blocked, so any entry mistakes regarding the passport cannot now lead to refusal.
June 20, 2022 at 11:14
Hi Simon, is it too late or not to unlock ds260.?
I’m 2023 winner and case number 13xxx
June 20, 2022 at 18:49
Not too late, no.
June 18, 2022 at 19:29
Thank you
June 18, 2022 at 15:39
Hi
When we receive the email from the kcc telling that your case is current for interview processing, is that mean that we will receive for sure the 2nl.
Thanks your.
June 18, 2022 at 19:45
This email comes when your case is “actively” being scheduled. It’s a special point in time. If your embassy is working, and has capacity for your case, you can expect a 2NL within the next couple of weeks. However, if your embassy is NOT working you can be in a kind of limbo. At this point you cannot make any changes, because KCC has allocated the case to your embassy, but not sent it to the embassy yet. If the embassy does not have full capacity, and there are more cases in front of you than they can interview in the month, then your interview will be pushed to a later month. This email does not guarantee you will receive an interview, because some embassies have many more people (in the same status as you) than they can accommodate.
June 21, 2022 at 08:20
Hi Sir
The U.S embassy in Algiers sent this email to one of the selectees : ” Currently, the U.S. Embassy Algiers does not have the capacity to process all 2022 DV cases scheduled for August and september due to resource contraints.
However, in an effort to expeditiously process your case,U.S. Embassy Tunis has accepted the transfer of your case.”
Does that mean they’ve been getting more appointments? Or just that they have limited resources?
Thank you for your time.
June 21, 2022 at 14:50
Limited resources.
June 21, 2022 at 19:49
Hello Mr,Britsimon, I’m a winner for 2022 and my CN is 6077* from Liberia but I haven’t my 2NL and CEAC status says at NVC and other cases that higher than mine are getting their 2NL daily
CN like 63828 get 2nl, can I know what is happening pls Sir, I’m begging you because I’m so much worries.
June 26, 2022 at 16:35
There is not much I can say about your specific case.
July 4, 2022 at 12:09
Hi Simon,
you mentioned above that if an embassy is not working the applicant can be stucked in a limbo.
I received the Info end of April that I am current for interview processing and did not get an invite yet, even though the FRN embassy is still taking on many cases, many with a CN above mine. CN14xxx here.
Do you know how long it can take at normal embassies? I somehow have the feeling that the embassy skipped my case..
Thanks in advance!
July 10, 2022 at 19:33
I don’t have info on embassies like that.
June 18, 2022 at 08:33
Hi
Is that true that once the kcc had processed your ds 260 you will have an interview ?
June 18, 2022 at 19:23
Not in all cases, no.
June 17, 2022 at 01:01
Hi Brit Simon,
Hope everything is well. I watched your video Re: Form I-134 on Youtube and have the following question:
My parents were selected for DV2022. They’re in their early 60s, and have a net worth $600-800k (about half in bank accounts, other half in property). I’m in the US on H1b, earn a good income, and have about $400k in savings (bank accounts + stocks). Can I sign their I-134 and check the NonImmigrant box in Part 3, or you think it would be better if we got a US Citizen to do it?
June 18, 2022 at 19:11
Their savings should suffice, but you could also file the I-134 as additional info. They can use that I-134 to detail the beneficiary assets.
June 16, 2022 at 12:31
Hello, thank you for your help
My first question :
1- Does kcc process files in 2023 by case number or by ds send?
2- Will all the successful candidates get an interview date?
June 18, 2022 at 18:13
1. I have explained this over and over again. Cases are PROCESSED to some point by how they are submitted, BUT case number is used to prioritize scheduling.
2. We do not know how many people are selected in DV2023 yet.
June 15, 2022 at 12:03
Hello Simon,
(I left a comment in questions section but it wasn’t delivered I don’t know what the problem was)
What should I do if I want to enter the US with more than 10000 dollars? I’m Iranian (DV2022) and I can’t use bank transfer due to sanctions… so I must bring cash.
I’m a student right now and my parents financially support me…
How should I explain this at the port of entry?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
June 18, 2022 at 17:02
You will have to decide for yourself. I personally would not travel with that much cash.
June 14, 2022 at 16:05
simon please i wrote to kcc concerning ny interview letter and they said my ds260 has been processed and i should have received an email or will soon receive an email regarding my interview. That was 26th of MAY and still haven’t received any.what do i do .my case number 32×××
June 18, 2022 at 16:55
Not everyone is going to get an interview. It will depend on your embassy.
June 13, 2022 at 17:25
Brit. My case is 2022af6151x till now I have not received 2 nl from Liberia
June 18, 2022 at 16:36
Yep – there is significant risk that you won’t get an interview.
June 13, 2022 at 09:39
Hi Simon
Case Number 2022AF6XXX
Thank you very much for your blog; it made the journey much easier; we finally received our visas.
l got the dreaded ds-5535 ; so below is my journey
16 Feb – l got the email stating that my ds260 has been processed
24 Feb – Got my 2NL
4 April – Medicals Done
13 April – we had our interview at the Johannesburg consulate; Below are the questions the CO
asked us
-What is the Relationship between you and your sponsor
– Where l did my degree
– What do plan to do when you get to America
Both me and my husband got asked these questions
CO said everything was in order and we had passed the interview
14 April – got the dreaded email requesting for the ds5535
20 April -we sent the ds5535 for both me and my husband because of the long Easter holiday
4 May- decided to send an email to the consulate enquiring about my case to my horror they said
they still want ds5535(they said had sent it in the wrong format);resent the ds5535
16 May- You can imagine the horror again when they said they want my husband’s ds5535 .
20 May- My case changed to Administrative Processing
24 May- Issued
31 May- We got our passports back
June 18, 2022 at 15:29
Thanks for that – so even with the mixup, your DS5535 processing only caused 6/7 weeks delay. That’s not too bad.
June 12, 2022 at 21:21
Hey Simon, I think Egypt has done with FY 2022
It’s impossible to increase numbers above 13k
Do you agree?
June 18, 2022 at 15:19
No
June 12, 2022 at 11:09
Thank you Mr. Simon, your answers are very valuable to me. I will write to the embassy about the derivative.
June 11, 2022 at 08:31
Thank you so much Mr. Simon. Based on this, I have a few questions.
1. All gone “current” means, they can be included in between the cases that have already “Ready” status, right?
2. I got the 2NL last week giving me a date for interview in July, but in CEAC it shows as “at NVC”. Also when I checked “savediversityvisa”, the number is not shown under the Embassy. Does this mean I am in the queue of “AP” as you explained earlier?
3. In the 2NL notification letter the name of my derivative also included. I have requested “AOS” for him since he is already a F1. However, as enlightened by your forum, I understand he is no more eligible since he is already over 21 now, passing CPSA. What should I do? Should I write to the Embassy stating that he will not be present for the interview or should I write to KCC? The 2NL says, “all your family members should be present for the interview along with you”. Your views are highly appreciated. Thanks.
June 11, 2022 at 14:55
1. Not sure what you mean.
2. No – they seem to have failed to update CEAC for a few days. Patience.
3. You can email the embassy to make it clear.
June 10, 2022 at 14:40
Thank you
June 10, 2022 at 14:18
Thank for work
