The visa bulletin for August interviews has been released. The numbers have increased in line with my expectations – so no surprises if you listened to my video at the weekend. Some people might be surprised if they had listed to a certain clueless Youtuber however 😉
Good jumps in some of the exception countries so that those countries are almost aligned with their regions.
OC is held at the same number (as I had explained at the weekend), and that is confirmation in my view that the quota is close to being hit in that region.

Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.

Hello Britsimon.what is the process of unlocking ds 260?and after how long it be unlocked?I got my 2nlfor an interview in august but have issues with my host and I would like to change the host.would unlocking the ds 260 affect the process?
June 24, 2024 at 08:20
They won’t unlock the DS260 now. You can change the host at the interview.
June 25, 2024 at 05:02
can that affect my chances?should i take the documents from my new host on the interview date?
June 25, 2024 at 08:42
Not a problem.
June 23, 2024 at 09:39
Hello Brit will you think Africa will be current this year?Dv2024
June 23, 2024 at 12:30
No!
June 23, 2024 at 09:24
Hey Mr Simmons,
I have a case number of AF71000k From Africa ( Morocco )
I’m really confused and would like your opinion about my case number if possible.
Thank you so much
June 23, 2024 at 12:28
This is a vague question and you haven’t told me the year.
June 23, 2024 at 14:41
Sorry i forgot

June 23, 2024 at 04:27
Hello dear Simon, Thank You for Your helping, thank you because you make more efforts for helping us. I am winner 2024 from EU region Armenia and maybe all of us give you same question. VB is opened till 30000, but we dont have any invitations. And we dont know what to do. Many of us have written to KCC and they have answered by standard letter. We have written to our Yerevan Embassy, but they dont answer to our letters. In Your օpinion what must we do? And what recommendations will you give us? Thank you so much.
June 23, 2024 at 12:25
I just did an extensive analysis of YRV this morning. The 2NLs up to now have been appropriate and well managed. The fact that AS region got more over the last couple of months is understandable and justified, if you look carefully at the AV queues, Visa bulletin and so on.
In my opinion EU will take the vast majority of the September interviews, AS will take a small amount if they take any at all. However, I do not expect EU cases above about 27500 to be scheduled, because all the capacity will be used on mainly EU cased between 21800 and 27500 (cases that were current for July).
June 22, 2024 at 13:03
Hello Brit, this is disturbing.
why will my email say it is registered while i have not confirmed my dv visa appointment date. I made a mistake again while trying to re enter the email and made an error in the email. Kindly advise, am also unable to book my courier.
June 22, 2024 at 14:06
I don’t know.
June 20, 2024 at 20:09
Hi there, Mr Brit! I trust all is well. I’ve been following your page for quite some time now. I’m a South African young lady hoping to win get selected for DV2026 so I’ll be entering this October. I realised you rarely ever mention South Africa so it’s hard to follow but I also understand because not many South Africans are interested in the dv lottery, I would appreciate a one-on-one consultation from you for more tips if you offer zoom consultations? I’m willing to pay! However, If you don’t offer any consultations, that’s fine but could you kindly highlight South Africa as well in your videos. I do understand though not many South Africans enter the D.V lottery and I also want to if you think that this will increase my chances? I hope to hear from you soon!
June 21, 2024 at 09:05
You don’t need any consultations – and no I don’t do any. But don’t pay anyone for any – it is unnecessary.
You will enter the lottery in October. The date of entering doesn’t matter. The process is very simple, you just need a good photo and be honest in your answers.
The draw is completely random. Your chance of being selected is less than one in one hundred years. So – it’s just a lottery, not a plan.
June 20, 2024 at 06:55
Hi Brit! I’m currently unemployed and have no sufficient money in my bank. When it comes to providing the financial position, I think I need the affidavit of support from my father who already retired but has sufficient money in his bank. Some articles say the supporter needs to be living in U.S. is it true? Or does I-134 document is still valid if my supporter is in the another country? Thank you in advance!
June 21, 2024 at 08:45
The I-134 must be completed by a US resident.
June 19, 2024 at 13:58
Hello Brit,
Thank you profoundly for your blog. You are really amazing and the best. My case number is 2024AF592xx. I was current since May but still no 2nl. My post is Dakar. It used to be a good Embassy but they are pretty slow this year. Do you think I make it.
June 19, 2024 at 21:41
I don’t know for sure. Good luck.
June 19, 2024 at 22:37
Is it possible to move to another Embassy at this time?. I want to transfer my case to Sierra Leone but I am living in the Gambia.
June 19, 2024 at 23:21
It is very late. Probably too late.
June 20, 2024 at 10:47
Thank you. I will keep my fingers crossed.
June 19, 2024 at 06:45
Hello simon.I have been sent my 2nl for an interview in august.what documents from the host do I need during the interview?
June 19, 2024 at 21:28
Just as a host, nothing, but you might need an I-134 as a financial supporter.
June 19, 2024 at 03:29
Hi Simon, I am Emma from Africa, I have a family of 4, even my chances are not guaranteed because of my CN of 77,000 and something like that, but when I am lucky enough to have an interview, I wonder, my wife suffers from eczema and her skin is damaged, my question is how to change my DS so as not to lose this chance? how many years can I take for them to follow me, because I’m afraid of losing everything, money and visa.
when can I transfer my DS because I see the Kenyan embassy is working fine than mine?
thank you
June 19, 2024 at 21:26
Eczema is not a reason to be denied. There is no reason to not process for your wife.
Without knowing your year, I can’t speak about the transfer.
June 20, 2024 at 07:45
ok thank you SIMON bless up
June 18, 2024 at 15:20
Simon,
Is there any chance for DV 24,
Aisa 15000 (not iran) at Dubai Embassy?
Thanks
June 18, 2024 at 19:14
There is no embassy in Dubai. You mean Abu Dhabi – I don’t know what they will do.
June 19, 2024 at 12:43
Mr simon what do you think about harare embassy is it backlogged? And fo you think next vb AF region might get to 80k
June 19, 2024 at 21:39
Not badly backlogged. It’s a quiet embassy so backlogs are not really a problem.
About the next VB – wait and see.
August 2, 2024 at 01:33
How about this time around no 2NL from Harare embassy for September interviews at this point do you think they will send or it’s over
August 2, 2024 at 10:44
I don’t know.
June 17, 2024 at 17:13
Hi Brit I am in AF944×××× do I stand a chance?
June 17, 2024 at 17:32
Your case number has no year and is unclear.
June 17, 2024 at 12:32
Hello Brit. I was married but got legally divorced in June. My interview is in July. Should I present my marriage certificate and divorced certificate. I had filled in as married in the lottery and the DS260 because I was not legally divorced then.
June 17, 2024 at 13:04
Yes
June 15, 2024 at 09:32
Hi Simon!
Since you started doing this, what is the most trivial reason for refusal you have ever heard of ?
Thank you!
June 15, 2024 at 10:13
I’ve been doing this 12 years. I can’t remember all the reasons, but very few denials happen for “trivial” reasons.
June 15, 2024 at 09:13
Hi Simon, would you say there is hope for 2024EU39000 considering there is only 1 month left? And what’s the best plan of action right now? just be prepared if they schedule it last minute?
June 15, 2024 at 10:12
It’s risky of course. There is nothing you can do except wait and see.
June 14, 2024 at 20:07
Hello Brit,
I’m 2024OC192X, I’ve been current since May 8th and assigned to the Mumbai Embassy.
Mumbai Embassy sent out 2NLs on 31st May (38) and 12th June (41), but I still haven’t received mine for the OC region, the embassy is doing alright when I checked, as per your guidance in your videos.
Could you please let me know what’s going on and if there’s anything that I can do?
KCC responded that I’m now current for interview processing, when I reached out to them.
I’ve sent multiple emails to Mumbai embassy without any response.
Thank you
June 15, 2024 at 10:01
Emailing Mumbai is pointless. They don’t pick which cases to schedule, and they know nothing about your case unless it is scheduled.
There is nothing you can do. My guess would be that you will get an interview in September.
June 15, 2024 at 13:49
Thanks for your response, Simon.
As per my understanding of the AV queue based on your video, the backlog cases would be picked first before picking up the current cases, I noticed that several cases from Asia region that’s current for August got their 2NLs as well, while a few African cases and my OC case that’s backlogged still dint receive any.
I request you to kindly explain this scenario about AV queue in your next video.
That will help us understand why a lot of cases remain on NVC forever and why some receive their 2NLs after a delay.
June 15, 2024 at 18:45
The AV queue explanation does explain the behavior we see.
June 14, 2024 at 05:06
Dear Simon,
I have one question for my friend.
They are couple and submitted their DS 260 on July. During that time, his wife was pregnant.
After one week later in July, their son was born. They submitted son DS 260 on September.
But they never update their initial DS 260.
🥴
Now they got 2NL and their son name was not in notice letter.
What should they do? What is possible outcome?
Thnanks .
June 14, 2024 at 11:43
They should attend the interview together, and also email the embassy in the meantime to let the embassy know they are all coming.
June 23, 2024 at 14:11
Hello.mr brit simon.I would appreciate it if you could give me a clue what registering of appointment after 2nl means?? I got an email, I checked the entrant status check for my interview appointment and got a letter with all the information.my question is there further steps I must take? Thank you
June 23, 2024 at 14:40
In some embassies there is a need to register with a courier service. Their instructions make that clear.
June 14, 2024 at 00:54
Heloo Brit..with the august vb out, does it mean that people below 75k for africa are current?…I am in nairobi with case no 69000.when should i expect my 2nl?
June 14, 2024 at 09:25
Yes that is what it means, and you may get a 2NL this month, assuming NRB has the capacity.
June 15, 2024 at 05:57
Hello Brit.. What do mean by saying assuming NRB has the capacity?
June 15, 2024 at 10:11
NRB – Nairobi
All embassies set their capacity each month, saying how many interviews they will accept. Sometimes there are more people that need interviews than an embassy can accommodate – and in that case there is a backlog formed. So far NRB has been good and the backlog has been minimal.
June 13, 2024 at 15:42
Hi Simon, I want to appreciate your effort so far, you are really a father to dv lottery winners, thank you so much. I received my interview date yesterday and is on 27th August.
This is my situation presently, am currently pregnant and my due date is second week of September, can I be allowed to travel immediately after our visa is issued.
Secondly, if I hv the baby in my country, there will be no time to process the passport, birth certificate, and do medical for the baby in just 2week left for the year to end. Please what can I do in this situation?
June 13, 2024 at 16:35
Ideally you would interview first and the baby is born later. You do not have to enter the USA before September 30th, and in fact you will have 6 months of visa validity timed from the medical date.
So – have the medical (you will need a abdominal shield for the XRay)
Then have the interview. It will be obvious that you are pregnant, but you want the visa issued before the birth.
Once the baby is born, you will obtain a birth cert and passport, and once you have those your whole family can enter the USA. The baby may need a travel foil from the embassy for the airline. But the embassy should NOT need a Ds260 or fee for the baby to issue that travel foil.

June 13, 2024 at 13:40
Hi
i saw Dar es salaam embassy Is stuck this year at case DV2024AF25k… Could be they are deterring other people transferring cases to DRS , is it risky embassy now?
June 13, 2024 at 14:14
They just took interviews up to 38.4
They are backlogged obviously – so no one should move their case to DRS
June 13, 2024 at 03:21
Hi Mr. Simon,
May God almighty reward you awesomely for this great job.
Does it really matters to include an additional address on the DS-260 of another place lived for the period of two months?
June 13, 2024 at 04:03
I mean in his/her own country
June 13, 2024 at 09:21
No
June 12, 2024 at 22:50
Hi
Simon
My CN is 2024AS 16***.
Is it to go current in next VB?
June 13, 2024 at 09:16
Maybe – you’ll have to wait and see.
June 12, 2024 at 18:30
Hi brits, can a marriage affidavit be used as a marriage cert if i win the greencard
June 13, 2024 at 09:05
If you have performed a LEGAL marriage you should be able to get a certificate. But the rules vary by country, so look up rules in your country.
June 12, 2024 at 12:05
Hi Brit,
Do you think Af42xxx will make it in Cairo embassy?
Thanks
June 12, 2024 at 12:11
Yes
June 12, 2024 at 13:54
Thank you so much for your effort. I truly appreciate it ♥️♥️
June 11, 2024 at 10:46
My wife is caring her father’s surname instead of mine and we are lucky to be selected, we have already filled and submitted the DS-260. She is still carrying the surname and that is the name she is even carrying in our marriage certificate. Does that affect our visa application or interview?
Our case number is 2025AF25*** how will you rate Sierra Leone in handling DV interviews taking into consideration the past years?
June 11, 2024 at 10:58
No problem on either question.
June 11, 2024 at 10:32
Hello M. Simon, Here is my case number 2024AF71XXX for Dakar embassy. I’ve submited my DS-260 the May 10th 2023, then for the rest of my family I’ve filed and submited there ds 260 at June 8th 2023 after gotting there passports. Which date will be considered as my submission date?
June 11, 2024 at 10:59
May 10. Not that it means anything.
June 19, 2024 at 22:27
My case number is 2024AF59xxx. Dakar Embassy is not taking a lot of interviews. I’m really worried.
June 11, 2024 at 08:17
Hi, Brit
just came from your live on YouTube, i really appreciate what you do. Your chanel had been a great place to get the information that we need. so thank you very much for this.
i left this comment on YouTube but i am kind of scared that i blew up my chance because i unlocked my ds260 form in December to put in my new passport, i originally submit-ed it in mai 2023. also i had a bug while signing it but right now it shows my statut is completed and the confirmation page is showing normally.
my case number is current now AF 69k in Algeria. I know there is a chance that i don’t get an interview but i just hope it’s not because i unlocked my form.
also what do you think about the Algerian embassy? from the CEAS data the last 2NL they send was 8 mai for case number 60k, in transit cases was the 31 mai.
thanks for your time and have a great day. i wish all the luck to whomever got selected.
June 11, 2024 at 10:29
I am 100% certain that your unlocking had no affect on your case. The only important thing is that it was processed at some point before the number went current yesterday. In that case your case is no different from a case at the same number range that completed processing on June 1 2023 (as an example).
You have a chance at ALG.
June 12, 2024 at 05:39
Hi Simon,
Related to this question, at one point last year you said it’s not necessary to unlock the form in order to add a new passport number, has that changed meanwhile?
2024 EU314xx
I hope September’s VB will reach EU31500, If it’s not too late, should I unlock the form now and change the passport numbers?
June 12, 2024 at 11:37
I said that at many points. That advice hasn’t changed.
No need to unlock now. Just take the new and old passports to the interview.
June 13, 2024 at 16:06
Hello mr brit simon.finally got my 2nl. Thank you for your guidence.I want to ask you, I have lost my old passport ,and i have used its number when submitting ds260. I got a new passport few days ago.would that be a problem at interview or should I just state my new passport number at interview?thank you
June 13, 2024 at 16:35
No problem, just take your new passport to the interview.
June 11, 2024 at 07:03
Hi Brit,
Do you think AS18k will make it?
Thanks
June 11, 2024 at 10:11
I don’t know.
June 11, 2024 at 06:18
Hi Brit
Is there any source where it is possible to see how many cases have been sent from KCC to Embassies apart from Xarthisius?
Does KCC/CEAC publish the data on how many cases are stuck in AV for a specific consulate?
June 11, 2024 at 10:11
Xarthisius is the only source for that. The data comes from CEAC. There is no other data available on AV queues apart from via lawsuits.
June 11, 2024 at 05:54
Hi! If my number becomes current in the September for EU, do I have to get an interview until 30th od September or else I wont get a visa? How does it function for the last month?
June 11, 2024 at 10:09
September 30th is the last day for each year. Any case not approved by then loses their chance.
June 11, 2024 at 05:13
Hello Simon, my case number is 2024AF119589. Should i expect an interview for the next bulletin.
June 11, 2024 at 10:03
No, your number is too high.
June 11, 2024 at 10:09
and for 24 AF96XXX lomé? if africa region become current
June 11, 2024 at 10:36
AF won’t become current.
June 11, 2024 at 11:24
ok thank you MR BRIT
July 29, 2024 at 07:41
Hello Simon, my case number is 2024AF49000. Should i expect an interview for the next bulletin august.
July 29, 2024 at 13:09
The final interviews for DV2024 are arranged in July, possibly the first few days of August. Then the VB published in August is for DV2025.
To which embassy are you assigned?
June 11, 2024 at 05:05
Hello Simon
Thanks a lot for your very valuable information. I am AF75790 , from your experience, is there a ( bad) chance that the cutoff numbers for Africa would frease and not progress in August Visa Bulletin? last year´s Morrocco, Algeria and Egypt´s numbers did not change from July to August VB
June 11, 2024 at 10:03
It can happen, but all we can do is wait and see.
June 11, 2024 at 04:55
Hello Brit, am from Nairobi Kenya, C.N 65k, 2024, really worried when to receive 2NL and if I receive it this month of June will my interview be on July or August since I got current on May V.B.Thanks
June 11, 2024 at 09:59
I expect you will get a 2NL in June for an interview in August.
June 11, 2024 at 04:40
Mr brit , do you mean that ASIA has over selected for DV 2024?
June 11, 2024 at 09:56
Of course. There are 9000 visas available in Asia, and they selected 28000 people…
June 12, 2024 at 11:34
Dear Simon
Although 2024 is an over selected year, they are not issuing enough visas
By taking a look at xarthisius website, Asia’s issued visas were 9617 at the end while this year Asia’s issued visas are still at 4173 and we are at our next to last visa bulletin.
Is that correct or am I missing something?
June 12, 2024 at 11:38
Also if you use xarthisius website and you go back to 10/june2023 you’d find that they had issued over 6000 visas for Asia at that time but we are from that number this year at the same date.
June 12, 2024 at 12:16
Yes – they started well, then slowed down. However, they set 860 interviews (about 1700 people) for July, June is not done, and we could easily see > 1000 interviews in August. They can hit the quota if they want.
June 12, 2024 at 12:43
Thank you for the clarification
I hope that hitting the quota translates to increasing the visa bulletin to 21000 like last year.
June 12, 2024 at 12:36
We are far from that number*
June 11, 2024 at 02:04
Hi, Simon! Did you expect such a huge progress in EU? Can you please throw light on their logic of such a big progress in Russia comparing to the whole region? Is Warsaw doing so great so they decided to give them some extra-job?
June 11, 2024 at 09:49
WRW had a low capacity in July – I think this “push” will aim to correct that.
June 11, 2024 at 01:25
Hi Simon,
For EU region, how many cases should they schedule in September to reach the full quota?
Thank you
June 11, 2024 at 09:37
I don’t think they will reach the full quota unless they have a very busy August and September – let’s wait and see.
June 10, 2024 at 22:45
Do you think there will be enough visas for those whose number is in current the EU this month? Thanks
June 11, 2024 at 00:04
Yes
June 10, 2024 at 19:36
Hello Brit,
In August VB, there is no movement for Oceania. What are your views on this? Also, Do you think my case number has a chance: 2024OC2051?
June 10, 2024 at 23:53
It’s about what I expected. I explained over the last few weeks. I’m hoping we will see a.small move next month, but no guarantees.
June 10, 2024 at 18:51
The move is great and good, but we DRS still in dillema. Our embasy is still in 32XXX, I’m 38XXX and my cousin is 55XXX both are current and we all did our ds 260 by September 2023. If we would know we would switch to Nairobi…We dont know what to do…..simply desiparately
June 10, 2024 at 19:06
It’s frustrating. I have no idea what DRS will do.
June 12, 2024 at 20:46
You are the best BritSimon. I just open my email and 2nd is there, case number 38XXX for DRS…They scheddule me on August 29….I am wondering if 55XXX will be a chance……Will it be possible with a such short time interval?
June 13, 2024 at 09:13
I don’t know for sure, but I think that will be too high (unless they increase the capacity). Your case was the highest number they took, and they took 36 cases. So – there are a lot of cases between your case and 55XXX
June 13, 2024 at 14:22
lets keeps the hopes up.Anyway anything can happen. But If I would know your website before, I would have switched to Nairobi…Though last year Nairobi also had a rough time..
June 11, 2024 at 05:14
Kindly update me on DRS performance.Am 51k dv 2025 and am considering Dar am my 2nd choice. My fb name is Joey Sephine.
June 11, 2024 at 10:07
DRS is backlogged in DV2024. Will they continue that way in DV2025 – I don’t know.
June 10, 2024 at 17:42
I really hope EU hits 35000 next bulletin and Russia at least 34500, otherwise – the chance of the lifetime is gone
June 10, 2024 at 18:36
Good luck!
June 10, 2024 at 17:35
It is finish for the hight Case number
2024AF100K
June 11, 2024 at 01:28
I’m also AF100k+ and I feel like it’s over for me
June 10, 2024 at 16:10
Good News
June 10, 2024 at 16:02
Hi Britsimonsay ,my I am one of the winner of 2025 DV lottery and my case number is in 66 thousand.
Do you think I should continue my process or I should wait, I’m looking at the number to be too high, like behind too much
June 10, 2024 at 18:05
It is too soon to know.
June 10, 2024 at 15:55
Hello Sir,
I am an AF with a case number of 100 000 do I stand a chance?

Probably not – but you will know for sure in about 1 month from now.

What’s your prediction of the final DV Lottery number for Africa?

I discussed that at the beginning of my live session this past weekend.

Hey Mr Simon,
Hope you are doing great.
I have a case number of AF70120K from Morocco. the visa bulletin is now at 70K.
Should I expect to get an interview in the next visa bulletin. thank you for your valuable insights.

Thanks for your tremendous efforts and support towards us dv winners..your platform has been a help for me since I first subscribed to your channel in June of last year after being selected for dv-2024. My case number AF72522 Monrovia is inclusive. I’m single but hasn’t been hearing from my host since 4 months and so. Will changing my host be a problem during interviews?

No

First of all, BRIT I want to thank you for all the great work you are doing. Secondly, I am writing on behalf of my cousin, who is from Rwanda and is a DV Lottery winner with case number 2025AF52XXX. Currently, they are interviewing those with case numbers up to 2024AF26XXX, and we are nearing the end of June.
Given this situation, we are concerned that those with case numbers beyond 50,000 might not be called for an interview this year or even next year. We have observed that this year, priorities are being given to those requesting visas for immediate relatives, with a significant increase in visas being allocated to those who fall into the category of “Other.”
Considering this, I am wondering if it might be a good decision to request the KCC to unlock my DS-260, which I have already submitted, to change the interview location from Rwanda to Kenya. I have been using Google to find information and understand that changing the interview location might impact processing times. What advice would you give me?
Thank you.

Kenya would probably improve your chance, but your cousin doesn’t have to move now. There will be plenty of time after January to do that before the case number becomes current.

Hey Simon,
Thanks for posting this. I am bit disappointed with Europe but it is what it is. I guess there’s no chance for EU35xxx anymore.
June 10, 2024 at 14:48
I wouldn’t give up yet.
