OK – the new VB just got published and we see some good increases across the regions!
One more VB after this one. Let’s hope that follows through to some good 2NL numbers and then the pauses are dropped. We need to finish the year with some good news.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times. One quick point, the 2NLs tend to come out in an approximate alphabetical order, based on the city name of the embassy. So, Addis and Accra tend to be early, and an embassy such as Yaounde would be later. As ever, just be patient…

I really appreciate your feedback on my previous comment. My case number is below 27000 which should be scheduled for an interview in August in London. Yet, I have not heard about the 2NL.
– Should I contact KCC to ask about 2NL?
– Shall I do the medical exams now or wait for the 2NL first?
– Do you know any case numbers close to or above mine which have received their 2NL?

My case number is current for this month of september DV2026, and i live and work in the US on a visa. I’m just starting the process so i was wondering what are the immediate steps i should follow right now considering the current pause ? adjustment of status first or is there something i should do first?
I’m worried that if the pause is not lifted then adjustment of status gets denied, it’ll be immediate deportation so trying to understand folks in the US have been able to have their case processed in the last months and get interviews

I had previously moved the case from Vienna and we are a family of five.

Yes you can file now. However, the pause is still in place. So you might want to consider a private lawsuit.

Me and my family did medical exam on February for dv2026 and we had our interview and 221(g) result. If the validity of us getting the green card is until 6 months after medical that means its gonna expire on August. How would you advise us to do, do we need to redo the medical or just wait? We are also on second lawsuit. Thank you

Dear Simon, I know you have very limited info about embassies but we didnt hear any interview info for Vienna embassy for August. It seems strange as they followed every VB with scheduling from the beginning of DV26. Do you suggest to we contact with them as KCC keep sending the same reply which is stage 4 .

Honestly – your case number is at a risky level. One thing would be to become current (which is unlikely, based on the data), and the other thing would be your embassy. Some embassies are better than others in terms of getting to higher case numbers.
Anyway – let’s wait and see.

Quick follow-up on my case 2026EU282XX. It became current in the August bulletin. I was planning to move our files back from Vienna to Ankara (we are a family of five), as you suggested a few months ago.
Do you still think moving to Ankara is better at this late stage of the season, or should we keep it in Vienna?

That’s difficult to know as we don’t have precise scheduling info – just general trends. However, it looks pretty even at the moment, with Vienna maybe having the slight edge due to their lower scheduling need.
But you have to decide for yourself.

Mr. Simon, below is the response from the Warsaw Consulate regarding moving the interview to July. It was received in May.
I understand that you cannot predict the future, but based on your experience and general impression, does this mean that even if the pause is lifted, no one assigned to the Warsaw Consulate will receive an interview?
“Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your inquiry about rescheduling your DV interview. At this time U.S. Embassy Warsaw does not have capacity to reschedule your case at the time requested. We invite you on the scheduled date of June 8, 2026. We do not have any appointments available with the consul after June 2026.”

The response about rescheduling has absolutely nothing to do with DV scheduling for new cases. There are spaces set aside for DV scheduling which are managed by KCC, not the embassy. The embassy, on the other hand, manages its own appointments for general visa work. A rescheduling appointment comes from the second bucket, not the first.

There is no way to know the capacity that an embassy sets each month, not to be 100% sure that they did not schedule appointments that we just didn’t hear about.

I was interviewed in May and the CO said I can’t be issued a visa due to pause and I was placed on 221g. I’ve been checking my visa status on CEAC visa status check ,it showed refused,with reasons as the CO explained on the day of my interview. For over a week now,I am not seeing my situation on CEAC . I’ve logged in the right details but CEAC visa status check keeps responding that my information is not found. What can this mean?

THat probably means they updated the login to use a different passport (one of the derivatives). However, there is nothing to see – you are on 221g.

You have to make that choice. You can probably defer the decision for a week or two and see if the DV pause is lifted by then.
People that file even in mid to late July have got through AOS in the past. So – have everything ready (including paying the fee to KCC)

I don’t believe it would be as “traceable” as filing a DS260. It’s a payment to KCC – so I would be surprised if any other department knew anything about it.

Our number still isn’t current but we are literally praying everything that it goes current by sept in the next VB we are EU33*** so praying it moves another 4k in the next one! 🤞🏼 We can’t literally do anything else now we have exhausted every possible avenue and the wait is exhausting and draining on us all! I was selected in this year’s Diversity Visa program, but I never submitted my DS-260 because I assumed my case number would not become current. My case number is 2026EU29068, and since the latest cutoff for Europe is 29,000, I was wondering whether you think it is still worth submitting the DS-260 at this point and if there is any realistic chance it could be processed in time.
My main concern is that I am planning to apply for a J-1 visa in the future, so I would prefer not to create an immigrant intent record if there is virtually no chance of completing the DV process.
I would appreciate your thoughts.

Wow, I wonder how you came to the conclusion that your number would not become current. It was never “crazy” high.
But yes, you have probably left it too late – so if you submitted now there is a high chance that you would not be processed in time (within the next 2 to 3 weeks) and therefore not get scheduled anyway, BUT will have caused some impact to future non immigrant visas.
It’s a gamble. You need to decide fast if you want to submit.
