The Visa Bulletin for February interviews has been released.
Progress is pretty much “in line” with expectations – no big news to write about. Of course, the main question is about appointment scheduling, there are a lot of cases that are now current waiting for interviews – so that is the most important thing right now.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. The new no documents procedure is still a little unknown, so we will have to wait and see exactly how that goes. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches. I would expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Not necessarily one for Simon, but has anyone reading this with a case number between 300-400 had an interview in Sydney embassy for Oceania? Asking because bulletin indicates they are are further ahead than they are and would like a gage on where they might be up to! Thanks 🙂

Just because you see a case number of 500, that does not mean everyone below that number is already interviewed/scheduled.
The data that shows what cases are scheduled is here: https://savediversityvisa.org/dv2022-daily-visa-statistics/

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the link – this has been really helpful!
My interview is to take in place in Sydney, AU. Should I be concerned if there has been no activity through Sydney embassy whatsoever?
Thank you in advance.
February 19, 2022 at 23:27
Yes.
There is a lawsuit suing Sydney specifically. That lawsuit is closed, and is designed to focus on plaintiffs, but it might bring some clarity for non plaintiffs.

Thanks Simon. It doesn’t mention current DV winners. I can see via the CEAC stats though they haven’t interviewed a single person in 6 months. Do I unlock my file and re try for a nearby country? I have tried calling and emailing the Sydney embassy to no avail.

It’s your choice. Like I said, there has been some movement for DV cases thanks to a lawsuit, but if you can reassign, maybe you want to do that.

Hello Simon
My case number is 2022AF21XXX, which I suppose will be current in March and we are comprise of myself(principal applicant), wife and daughter. My wife will be traveling late February to the US on a military assignment for four months.
1. Should I advise her not to go for the trip in February because she will not be around for the schedule interview?
2. Should I reschedule our interview date to a date around her return?
3. What best advice will you give in our situation?
January 11, 2022 at 14:50
You will have to decide how to handle this. There is no perfect answer.

Hi Simon, I am case number 2022OC000004** (same as above person). I received by 1NL 8 May, completed my DS260 on May 11, and sent my docs on Sep 21. I received a confirmation email from KCC that they received my documentation, and I am current. I am based in Aus (NZ resident) and need my interview to be in Sydney. I emailed AU embassy to ask if my 2NL would come via email or whether I should continuously check the entrant status check website, they responded with a template to the effect of “You can find information at KCC website” and linked to their general web page. Around the same timing I made my email enquiry, I received log in details to a portal to apply for a US Visa ín Australia. I logged in to this but my only option to book a visa is a immigrant K visa. Very confused…. Should I be concerned?
December 22, 2021 at 05:14
You are indeed confused. KCC arrange the interviews, not you. If you received an email that saysing something about being “current for interview scheduling” that means they are on it. Sit tight.
January 4, 2022 at 15:08
Hey alyx did you received your 2NL yet?
January 5, 2022 at 05:29
Hi Pranunepal – I have not. Thanks
December 20, 2021 at 21:46
Hi again,
I forgot to mention that I still haven’t received 2NL In my previous comment on this post…
Best regards

Dear Simon,
I’ve read the FAQs about unlocking the DS260 (DV2022) but my situation is a bit complicated. I would appreciate your guidance.
My status:
I’m Iranian / Case Number: AS13000 / DS260 submit date: 16 May 2021 / I received DR on September 23 / I emailed my documents on September 26 / I received DQ on December 2.
Here’s the issue:
I was living in Iran when I filled out the DS260 form, but I moved to Italy in October to start my studies!
When I was filling out the DS260 form I wrote my present address & phone number in Iran. There’s another question in the DS260 asking ” Is your mailing address the same as your present address”. At the time, I still hadn’t found an apartment in Italy so I didn’t know my exact address in Italy. Therefore, I answered “No” to this question & only wrote “I will be residing in Italy starting from October 2021” then chose my city-province in Italy as my “mailing address”.
Moreover, I chose Rome as my “interview location” & wrote the name of my current university in Italy as my “present employer or institution” in DS260.
I had planned to email KCC to unlock right I after finding an apartment in Italy but I unexpectedly received DR & then DQ. So I thought to myself unlocking might delay my 2NL…
With these explanations, I wanted to ask if I should unlock my DS260 to write my address in Italy or can I do it at the interview.
Thank you for your assistance
December 22, 2021 at 05:05
Unlock and correct. The sooner the better.
December 22, 2021 at 23:37
Thanks for the answer.
I emailed kcc & requested to unlock.
Do you know how much delay will this “unlocking & re-submitting” cause till I get the second DQ?
Because I had received DR & DQ before the unlock!
January 16, 2022 at 21:21
Kindly where do I check whether I have been DR or DQed.
Post the link.
Thanks.
January 18, 2022 at 15:45
There is no link. You can email KCC

Hey Brit
Simon, the US embassy in ethiopia is closed… and assuming that it wont reopen until 2022 fiscal year… should i change the embassy interview location now before my ds 260 is processed since i cant change it after?? Bc if i dont take the interview before the end of fiscal year i wont get a visa. Im DV 2022 submitted ds 260 on early july.
December 22, 2021 at 05:01
Changing embassies would be wise.
December 17, 2021 at 17:34
Hi Simon,
My Case Number is 2022OC000004** ds-260 completed on 19th may when can I expect my 2nl? I’m from Nepal and my case is current in December.
Thank you
December 17, 2021 at 17:56
I’m trying to understand why you have an OC case number. Were you born in Nepal? Are you married to someone from the OC region?
December 17, 2021 at 18:37
I’m born in Australia but having Nepal citizenship.
December 22, 2021 at 04:40
OK – well be patient.
