Oh how they love to play with our emotions…
The new VB has been released, but it is identical to the last VB – no increases at all. I’m sure there will be much speculation about what that means, but I personally don’t have any good information, so I won’t speculate.
Of course, it should be understood that even if no numbers are added, there are cases that will be scheduled that were already current, but their DS260s were not previously processed. So – if that includes your case, you can hope to get scheduled for February interviews.

Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.

“Thank you for your inquiry.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the interview location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected] with the physical address which you will be present at during the time of your interview. Unless the applicants are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed.
If your interview has already been scheduled, you must contact the U.S. embassy or consulate to request a transfer of your case. The U.S. embassy or consulate will determine if it accepts your case for transfer.”
Hey Simon, I have a situation, while filling my DS260, I mistakenly checked that I live in the USA (I only realized that while I am not getting my 2NL). I contacted KCC and they sent me the letter above. I sent the address which is LOME TOGO but as response, they keep sending this same message. Do you have any idea on this ? Please advise. Thanks
January 6, 2025 at 18:45
You must contact them to make sure they understand you are planning to do Consular Processing. Since you chose USA, they think you are adjusting status in the USA. So – DON’T ask them to unlock or change the embassy selection, but DO clearly explain you made a mistake and want to be interviewed in Lome.

December 23, 2024 at 18:41
Hello Simon,
I started gathering the required documents right after receiving my 2NL. None of the documents have an expiration date or anything like “valid until” on them. However, by the time of the interview, some of the documents will be about 1.5 months old. Could this cause any issues?
Thanks!
December 24, 2024 at 10:14
No – that is normal.
December 21, 2024 at 07:10
“My case number is 23000. Will my interview turn come in Asia by the end of 2025 or not? Can you advise me which country I should choose for my interview to get it scheduled sooner? Thank you. I look forward to your response.”

December 23, 2024 at 13:15
It is too early to be certain.
December 13, 2024 at 21:07
Greetings Simon,
A quick heads up – I’ve just received my 2NL (dated December 13) for an interview on February 4 2025. 2025OC6XX (SYD).
Also, because I know you care, there is a zero missing from the Historical Visa Bulletin Oceania tab (Jul 2004). I think it should be 1000 not 100.
Cheers.
December 15, 2024 at 11:15
Thanks for the headsup and correction. Good luck for the interview.
December 13, 2024 at 03:56
Hello pls I’m from Ghana and I have a case number of less than 8k and still not received my 2NL .pls how long do you think is going to take to process my case ?
December 15, 2024 at 11:07
Your delay is because Ghana is restricting the number of interviews it performs. You could have a long wait.
December 11, 2024 at 13:00
Having a relatively high case number (2025EU26xxx), being Turkish, and the whole Jan 20th situation makes me nervous. (At least I managed to transfer my case from Ankara to Vienna.) When I first found out we had won the lottery, I was so happy, but now I’m quite apprehensive. Winning is one thing, but winning with a higher case number is probably a curse. I don’t want to keep my hopes too high just to avoid being terribly disappointed.
December 11, 2024 at 14:04
Up to now I have not heard any statements from Trump et al about a travel ban. So – maybe it will be OK.
December 11, 2024 at 05:50
Mr Simon do I have to let my sponsor/host fill my i134 before my case become current or I should wait
December 11, 2024 at 14:00
Your choice – you just need the form at the interview.
December 10, 2024 at 16:55
When do I expect my 2NL I’m from Africa and my case is 45554
December 11, 2024 at 13:54
It will be months from now. Patience.
December 10, 2024 at 12:31
Am waiting to see the new administration
December 10, 2024 at 09:01
I expected the number to move but let’s wait and see what is in the store for us who have case number 30k and above.
December 10, 2024 at 07:40
Hi brit do you think some of us with high case no AF47k Nairobi embersy should still hope to get an interview
December 11, 2024 at 13:52
Absolutely.
December 10, 2024 at 07:37
I simon….I filled my ds260 as early as immediately the results were out..do I expect anything as of now or February?
December 11, 2024 at 13:51
It depends on your DS260, but also your case number and embassy.
December 10, 2024 at 03:42
That is really frustrating especially as an EU 12,3K…
Let’s hope march will my turn – unless it’s going to be 12,2K haha
At least we all have time get our papers ready for interview !
December 10, 2024 at 08:55
I am in the same situation…EU125XX. Fingers crossed for the new year.
December 10, 2024 at 10:23
Hey Markus, cross all fingers and toes you can 🙂
January could be the good one.. let’s see
December 11, 2024 at 13:48

December 10, 2024 at 02:00
Thanks for sharing
December 9, 2024 at 22:58
Hello brit.. CN19K KCC replied after my enquiry that records indicate that I submitted a complete and valid ds 260. Does this mean my file has not been transferred to the embassy?
December 11, 2024 at 13:43
Yes. Your DS260 is processed, but you have not been scheduled.
December 9, 2024 at 17:39
Hi Brit, do you think Europe will have a smaller number this year? Do you think the EU 22000 number will have a chance to get an interview around June-July? Seeing as the February bulletin didn’t increase. Thx
December 9, 2024 at 17:59
We don’t have the CEAC data and we don’t know what the Trump administration might do. EU22K isn’t high, but let’s wait and see.
December 9, 2024 at 16:30
WITH THE NUMBERS BEEN REPEATED WILL OCENIA REGION REACH 2000 OR MORE? AT THE MOMENT OCENIA REGION 1,100.
December 9, 2024 at 17:13
It’s a shame not seeing it move as I am in OC18xx
December 9, 2024 at 17:43
yeah, we were expecting for a move, but we will just have to wait and see in march’s visa bulletin.
December 9, 2024 at 17:22
We will have to wait and see. The new administration could impact progress, but before the election I already had explained my OC prediction.

December 9, 2024 at 16:06
Thanks, Brit for the update.
I expected the VB for February to have increased from 22,500 to 28,000 at least.
December 9, 2024 at 15:49
And with new administration in place starting Jan 20, expect the sluggish on the numbers for DV.
