The government have now published the new visa bulletin which is for February interviews. There has been some good movement in the regions and some countries – which is a sign I was hoping to see. For example, the Asia region number doubled to 30,000 which is effectively making the whole region current. I say that because our poll of selectee numbers suggests there are very few if any DV2026 AS numbers above 30,000. As we know, many people in Asia region are affected by the travel ban, and whilst that is horrific for those people, I wanted to see the government making good progress on the VB numbers as early as possible, so that redistribution of visas could happen. This move of numbers for AS region is positive for that reason, and also good for cases that can be interviewed before Trump introduces any further expansion of the bans.
Africa region moved up quite well also, and both country exceptions got a good increase. Europe also got an increase, but I’m sure some EU selectees would have liked to have seen more movement. However, those people should be cheering for AS and AF to move faster in order to benefit from redistribution of unused visas.
OC and SA got small increases also after having seen the starting numbers repeated several months ion a row – so that should offer some encouragement to those regions also (who again, can benefit from the redistribution of unused visas).
So – although the VB was later than expected this month, it is positive to see the numbers increase – and I will choose to look at that positivity rather than the horrific travel ban news.

Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times. One quick point, the 2NLs tend to come out in an approximate alphabetical order, based on the city name of the embassy. So, Addis and Accra tend to be early, and an embassy such as Yaounde would be later. As ever, just be patient…
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.

Happy New Year. Thank you for the updates. Just one question please. I got selected in the DV 2026 lottery with case number 1740 in the Oceania region as I am from Fiji. The visa bulletin for February 2026 is at 1175 for the Oceania region. In your experience if the pause is lifted will there be any movement in the bulletin for the DV 2026 case numbers after the month of February? Do you think by any chance depending on the availability of visa will the bulletin reach my number 1740 for the Oceania region in the coming months of 2026?

My expectation is that they should reach that number, but you just have to wait and see.

Hello Simon, I’m Dema from DRCongo won with my wife and my son with case number AF00017*** I’VE been current since the November VB and still waiting for 2NL
Do you have any idea about how quick Kinshasa embassy works and also when exactly can I get my 2NL I submitted my ds260 on 31may25.
Thanks for your reply.
December 24, 2025 at 08:41
In about 1 week we will have data about embassy performance. So wait for that information then.
December 18, 2025 at 20:34
Hi Simon, my number from AS just got current. I have filles DS260 since May/June. Other than waiting for 2NL what else can I do?
I have question about police record. I have period where I lived in Singapore for 4 years and have not been back since. Should I prepare to bring police record in Singapore plus where I live right now (Canada). The thing is I have obtained Singapore police record back in 2020, can I use that document or do I need to get new one?
December 18, 2025 at 22:56
You don’t have to do anything. Just wait.
I would always rather have a more recent police cert.

Hi Simon! Just a quick clarification. I completed my DS-260 in May, but when my employment changed, I updated it and submitted again in Nov 11th. Now it shows “completed” for both mine and my spouse’s (I didn’t reopen hers the second time). I haven’t received my 2NL yet, so I’m worried, should it show as “submitted,” or is “completed” fine?
December 18, 2025 at 09:29
Completed means submitted.

Hello Simon
I am a DV lottery winner from Cameroon with case number AF00029***. Yaounde has not started sending 2nls and it’s really frustrating because I don’t even know what is happening. At first I thought it was the lockdown in America, late November they announced they are on but uptil now they have not started sending 2nls.
December 18, 2025 at 00:09
It wasn’t the lockdown. The embassy decides how many cases they will take each month, and for some unknown reason YDE has been slow to start. There is nothing to do except wait.
December 17, 2025 at 17:40
Do you think EU will become current at some point ?
December 17, 2025 at 18:36
I don’t know.
December 17, 2025 at 16:39
What a relief. I was worried OC (my region would freeze again). Suddenly there’s hope knowing I will be current in February. Does being current in February mean that the interview is mostly be within that month?
My case number is 111* so it’s one of the lowest in the February cut off – I’ll be interviewing in Tokyo which is a pretty efficient embassy. I’ll be interviewing with my two kids and spouse. Currently getting police certificates and waiting for 2Nl to schedule medical check
December 17, 2025 at 17:14
Yes you can expect your 2NL later this month, and a February interview.
December 17, 2025 at 16:27
Hey,
My case number is below AS14,000 and I still haven’t received my 2nl.
I have filled my ds260 on late May. Is it normal?
Should I send KCC an email or should I wait 1-2 weeks?
December 17, 2025 at 17:14
You can email KCC and ask your status. Your embassy may be the reason why you have not been scheduled.
December 17, 2025 at 16:21
Do you still believe that SA is one of the regions most likely to be current?
December 17, 2025 at 17:13
Well Asia is basically current right now – but I still think SA has a chance of going current.
December 17, 2025 at 15:46
Can you guess a possible final cutoff range from Europe taking account of possible redistributions, but also embassy constraints?
December 17, 2025 at 17:02
No. There is no way to know what the government will do. I think we have to wait and see this year…
December 17, 2025 at 15:18
My case number is 2026AS00010***and I still didn’t receive my 2NL, I am just wondering what makes it delay..
December 17, 2025 at 15:40
Either your DS260 is not completed processing yet, OR your embassy is backlogged.
December 20, 2025 at 23:30
Is there any ways to know about the case status? Other than e-mail to KCC
December 21, 2025 at 00:11
No – just emailing KCC. And their reply won’t be very useful.
December 17, 2025 at 14:47
Hello,
Ok I wasn’t ready for this. I’m AS25*** and currently on student visa in the US. I want to do the AOS process. Am I too late? Anything bad happens if I submit the paperwork after March? I also haven’t submitted ds260.
December 17, 2025 at 15:39
You are not too late – you have plenty of time. BUT – do get ready and submit as soon as you can to avoid stress. Use the info at the link below to get prepared.

December 18, 2025 at 14:52
If I want help in filling out the forms for AOS is this something you can help with (paid of course). I have them all filled out but want to go over them with someone more experienced. Thank you!
December 18, 2025 at 15:38
No I don’t do that. However, there is an excellent guide available linked from the first post of the thread below. Sm1smom is THE DV lottery AOS expert. Her guides will help you and she can answer questions (once you have studied the guides).

Is it correct to assume that Europe would follow the same trend as last year and stop at 20-21k by the end of the fiscal year ?
December 17, 2025 at 15:37
No, that would not be a wise assumption.
