The VB was late again, but I think this was more to do with other categories than DV. And interestingly, the official published date shown of this VB is the eigth – this exact pattern has been the case for three months running – late VB, normal official release date.
Good jump in AF, OC and SA regions. “OK” in EU and AS. KCC switched to sending out documents emails to many cases, so to some extent they have pulled back the speed of the VB in countries like in EU where people respond faster than AF region. OC and SA regions are so “hole dominated” that their continued bigger jumps is completely understandable.
Region | All DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed Separately | |
---|---|---|
AFRICA | 19,000 | Except: Egypt 10,000 |
ASIA | 8,200 | Except: Iran 5,100 Nepal 6,500 |
EUROPE | 10,300 | |
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) | 8 | |
OCEANIA | 1,200 | |
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN | 1,075 |
This is only the FOURTH VB so there are EIGHT more to go, so no one should be worried about the numbers – everything is going just fine right now. Really.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Brit
What is the hell going on ??????????????
I have no words to describe my feelings for Europe
Only 1700??!!!??
When Africa is 7000!!!???????!!?????!!!???
I have 34k Europe !!!)) I will never get my visa then !!!!!!
Why the they have so huge numbers when they don’t do proper steps ?!!!!?????
What are they thinking????????
Why they give so small step ???
I al crying right now
I want my visa so bad …
I have payed for so many years ….
I dream to live in USA
And my dreams are broken !!!!!!!!
November 18, 2019 at 21:39
Good grief. Calm down. Your number is fine. You have no need to FREAK OUT.
November 20, 2019 at 08:56
I have been selected in dv 2018 with cn 27xxx and have never had an interview with consul, because the final cutoff number was about 25k. I know each year is different and you shouldn’t compare dv 2018 to 2020, because the last one is under selected, while 2018 was rather over selected. Plus the density is very different in those years. But please, keep in mind, that they do not guarantee that all selectees are supposed to have interview. Bad things happen. And this is just a lottery.
November 18, 2019 at 15:43
I hope, Simon, that you are right! They will need to fit numbers up to 55k (EU) to the next 8 VBs.
EU region has very many holes too btw. But the progress is slowish. I hope it will pick up.
November 18, 2019 at 15:44
Finally.
Thanks sir Brit.
My case number falls here but i haven’t received an email requesting for documents.
Should i still expect 2NL anytime from now?
November 18, 2019 at 21:40
You won’t get a 2NL unless you have submitted documents. Email KCC and ask about documents.
November 19, 2019 at 13:51
Thanks sir Brit.
I just forwarded my documents immediately after receiving the document email. Please how soon can i expect my 2NL?
November 20, 2019 at 05:13
If you submitted documents before November 1, then later this month.
November 18, 2019 at 15:57
Hello Brit,
My Cousin, who told me he was helped by an agent to apply for the DV 2020, cannot fill out the DS260. It turns out that the Birthdate/month used.in the E-Dv is wrong but the Year on the confirmation page is correct.
I know he shouldn’t use an agent but he didn’t know. Tried to call Acc but they requested the Date of birth before talking_ which is of course incorrect according to their records.
1. How can he proceed?
2.Does he stands any chance as far as knowing the DOB used at the application?
3a. Is there a way to fill out the DS 260? 3.b and send an email t later to inform the initial error?
4. Any thing he can to get by in this situation?
5. Trying everysingle date that exists in the year? That would be 365 tries if that’s even doable.
Thanks
November 18, 2019 at 16:03
As far as I know he can’t proceed
The mistake on the original application is fatal
Kcc knows many people use agents and is against the rules
So you have to forget about the winning and play again
November 18, 2019 at 21:44
@Elina, Please leave the answering to me – your answers are incorrect.
November 19, 2019 at 08:05
Hi
Britsimon!
Thank you so much !
That response keeps us strong?
November 18, 2019 at 21:43
1. He can ask the agent for the birthdate. If the birthdate is not provided, there are 365 days in a year. So try them all.
2. That is up to the agent.
3. a. See 1. b. Same answer.
4. See 1
5. There ya go….
November 19, 2019 at 00:37
Thank you Brit.
The agent said that he does not remember.
I guess he will have to try 365._If the system doesn’t lock him up due to many tries.!!
Everyone reading here should know how stressful it is to use an agent.
Sad
November 19, 2019 at 21:14
I didnt understand the answer of 3.a and 3.b ? I am interested in same mistake
November 20, 2019 at 05:33
It means read and understand my answer for Q1
November 18, 2019 at 15:58
Let’s hope on a few fast months for Europe 🙂
November 18, 2019 at 16:46
Hi britsimon, CN af69k egypt is still any risk with very high case numbers in Egypt?
November 18, 2019 at 21:45
Still at risk, yes.
November 18, 2019 at 16:50
Hi britsimon! Cn 2020af69k egypt. Is still any risk for high number in egypt?
November 18, 2019 at 21:46
Yes.
November 18, 2019 at 16:50
Very slow progress for Europe, I’m wondering if they will barely hit 30k if they move like this
I have EU43k and honest I don’t believe that I have any chance now, they are 8 more VB’s and that means that should be at least 3k issued cases every month .
Thanks Brit !
November 18, 2019 at 21:46
You are incorrect in your assumptions. Relex and be patient.
November 19, 2019 at 00:39
How can we relax when the cases are just 1700 for a whole month while Af is flying over.
I read all of your articles and predictions but I lost my hope.
November 19, 2019 at 04:26
OK – then be pessimistic if you prefer. Your pessimism makes no difference. Later on you will understand that I was correct, but for now you can assume that you know better than I do.
November 19, 2019 at 09:25
hello brit, im eu44k and i am pretty sure that you are right in your predictions. i really think that eu will reach at least 48k based on the total number of selected in eu region. congrats on what you are donig and thank you very much for your time
November 18, 2019 at 17:04
Thanks Sir for the usual help.
November 18, 2019 at 17:04
Hey Brit I’m a dv 2020 winner case number AF22 I think my 2NL will be in January, do you think that too?
November 18, 2019 at 17:38
Which country?
November 18, 2019 at 17:13
I think there is no chance for nepal 12500 case number according to vb.
November 18, 2019 at 17:52
I think that’s a ridiculous assumption.
November 18, 2019 at 20:26
Do you think i have any chance to get a interview if i have SA36××
November 18, 2019 at 21:57
Yep.
November 19, 2019 at 07:10
Hey Brit! Thank you for all your work on demystifying the process behind the DV Lottery. Many people from EU with high case numbers worry about the bulletin progress, and rightly so. Do you think that high case numbers for EU (above 45k) are at a greater risk now?
November 20, 2019 at 04:52
I will post about this over the next few days.
November 18, 2019 at 17:22
Any expectations for Eu VB in February?
Do you think it will move slowly according to the December holidays?
November 18, 2019 at 21:48
LOL – the last one was release a few hours ago nand you are already looking to next month. Read my articles from July.
November 20, 2019 at 22:03
Lol i know, but you should understand that we are really excited, especially when the number is getting closer to mine 😀
So,any expectations? 😀
November 23, 2019 at 06:48
Yeah. I expect you to read my earlier articles.
November 18, 2019 at 17:47
Just saw the visa for bulletin for January and is 19000. Does it mean that only people with case number 19000 will be available for the interview? Or what is the case number range for the said visa bulletin?
November 18, 2019 at 21:48
Read the article above.
November 18, 2019 at 19:00
EU is really going much slower than expected. I am wondering what you think what the reason for that is?
November 18, 2019 at 21:53
KCC just sent emails to MANY cases for documents, and people obviously responded – so more people under 10300 (where density is relatively high) are now eligible for interviews.
Nothing to worry about – all totally normal.
November 18, 2019 at 22:00
thanks for the reply. what do you think is the new estimation date for an interview with EU 23xxx? Is March too early?
November 18, 2019 at 22:08
Wait and see…..
November 18, 2019 at 22:14
Mr Simon,
Good day, any chance of a second draw soon?
V.
November 18, 2019 at 22:41
No. None.
November 18, 2019 at 22:17
thanks Mr Brit for your support!
November 18, 2019 at 22:23
do you think Eu can jump from 10000 to 20000 for february did it ever happened previous years to do a big jump in visa bulletins for europe ? thanks brit
November 18, 2019 at 22:41
Big jumps have happened before – but why is it important to jump to 20000 in one month? There are EIGHT VBs left! Relax.
November 18, 2019 at 23:41
Hey Brit thanks for the great job that you do for us. I think AF22 will get 2NL in February. What do you think about it?
November 19, 2019 at 04:26
I think that is OBVIOUS.
November 19, 2019 at 02:40
I have submit document and it 20 days till i cant received mail from kcc that document have received is reason to worry
November 19, 2019 at 04:21
No.
November 19, 2019 at 04:35
Hi brit Simon.
Now, my case number is current for January interview and all document confirmed by KCC that is received. Hope 2NL would be sent by around next week. Should I ask my sponsor to proceed I-134 form with relevant documents and send to me this week or just a bit more wait?
Thanks,
November 19, 2019 at 04:46
Wait.
November 19, 2019 at 06:36
Hi Brit,
My Case number is AS100XX and I hope it will be current for February interview (am I right?). In Sri Lanka, Police Clearance (PC) is valid for 6 months and it will take 3 weeks to receive your PC once applied.
1) Issue date of my my existing PC is 13th June 2019. KCC asked to send the documents on 04th October and I submitted the scanned copy of above PC (dated 13th June). Hope that will not be a problem?
2) Is it OK to apply for a new PC by mid-December 2019, targeting the interview in February? Or will I wait till Jan 2020?
November 19, 2019 at 08:10
I am having the same issue…
November 20, 2019 at 04:51
1. No problem
2. Wait until you have the 2NL
November 20, 2019 at 13:38
Thanks Brit! we’ll wait then..
November 19, 2019 at 08:07
Good morning, please anyone from GHANA in the AF region ..?
November 19, 2019 at 21:54
High Asante whats your Case number?
November 19, 2019 at 22:04
Kindly leave me a message when you can so we can chat thanks [email protected]
Anticipating on ur response
November 19, 2019 at 08:32
Is it possible, since high density is probably up to 15000. And the EU highest case is 57000. The year may be current, maybe in May or June. “.Slower progress from scratch and declare early current .
What do you think Brit
November 20, 2019 at 04:54
We will see in time…
November 19, 2019 at 08:42
thank you Britsimon, as you show as in your projection AF50k should be fine.help me understand the egypt case please.
November 20, 2019 at 04:55
I have explained this already. It is too soon to know anything more.
December 8, 2019 at 17:52
Hey Brits, can you make calm down those of AF region who have 40k except Egypt.we shouldn’t worry yes ? As you know many thing to do many of us at school but stuck with hope and excitement but , my self having CN close to 40k.can Hope in July ?
December 8, 2019 at 17:58
Just a matter of being patient…
November 19, 2019 at 09:27
Thank you very much for you effort dear Brit , my friend’s CN AF73 SUDAN , Do you think He has any chance to get a interview?
thank you in advance
November 20, 2019 at 04:56
Probably – but we will all have to wait and see….
November 19, 2019 at 10:10
Hi Brit,
I think you are right.
I’m EU 38k and I’m pretty sure I’ll have my interview even before summer…
I mean 84k selectees and 55.000 visas, there is enough visas for everyone this year and people need to calm down.
Keep up good work Sir!
Regards
November 19, 2019 at 10:33
Hello Brits I am case number 15k Africa….. I sent my documents to the kcc on 19th of October but to date I have not received an email to say that the doc are OK…..i have contacted some few selectee whom fall under case number 12001 to 19000 and none has received the email.
My question is has there been anyone who has received the 2nl without receiving an email to confirm the documents are okay?
November 20, 2019 at 04:59
Yes. That email is not “required”.
November 19, 2019 at 13:13
Total household of sponsor is 6 but my sponsor income 26k in a year. It’s might be risk of public charge ? And can I change the sponsor but ds260 valid by kcc email. Could you share some solution?
November 20, 2019 at 05:08
Solution? A new sponsor.
November 20, 2019 at 13:53
Dear Sir, what is the process for change sponsor? In ds 260 form, I have mention the sponsor name & address whose income isn’t enough.
November 21, 2019 at 08:33
Guys, could you please tell when do i need sponsor or guarantee or is there any decision taken by law for DV, because i couldnt find anything and i am reading some posts here for sponsor or is it decision for each region, or KCC send you email for 2NL thats is written that you need it? I am from EU and i already have 1NL for additional documents.
Thanks in advance!
November 23, 2019 at 16:43
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
November 23, 2019 at 06:19
Your financial sponsor does not have to be the same as the address listed on the DS260.
So, just get an I-134.
November 19, 2019 at 13:19
Helo sir
I am following your each and every post. Do you have any prediction about case number from Nepal i have case no 2020AS00011*** and my cousin has2020AS00017***. I have read every visa bulletin of past year and Nepal doesnot go current more than CN 7000. Is there any possibility for this year for me and my cousin.
I will be greatful if i got clear answer based on your prediction for CN this year.
Thank you in advance
November 20, 2019 at 05:09
You will certainly be OK, your cousin will have to wait and see a bit longer.
November 21, 2019 at 04:19
Hi Mr.Brit,
They should wait and see a bit longer for CN AS17XXX is just for Nepal only or for all AS region with 17XXX range number?
Thank you.
November 23, 2019 at 16:35
All AS
November 24, 2019 at 02:47
Is that mean that we with CN AS17xxx have possibility don’t get a chance to interview Mr.Brit?
November 24, 2019 at 02:56
If you are charging to Nepal, that is a high number with some risk of missing out.
November 24, 2019 at 07:10
Oh, we are not charging to Nepal, we’re from Indonesia Mr.Brit.
November 24, 2019 at 16:53
So then your number is fine. Relax.
November 25, 2019 at 02:38
Thank you Mr.Brit, your answer makes me relieved. 🙂
November 19, 2019 at 13:20
Hello! Still firmly on your idea that Europe will exceed 42K? Thanks for answering me
November 20, 2019 at 05:09
I’ll post something to re-explain soon.
November 19, 2019 at 14:45
Thanks Simon . I have a question that I have recieved the confirmation email for my submitted documents and now my case is in this visa bulletin . but I unlocked my ds 260 on 23th of October 2019 . does it delay my interview to february or not ?.
thanks .
November 20, 2019 at 05:15
No
November 19, 2019 at 16:32
Hi Simon,
My following question may seem a bit unusual: what is the chance of getting a visa once one’s case number is current, they are called for an interview and they seem to meet more or less all the requirements in terms of documents and forms submissions, medical history and financial proof if needed??
November 20, 2019 at 05:23
I don’t calculate chances in that way.
November 19, 2019 at 17:42
Hi sir!
I’m from Albania and my case number is EU55XXX
I recieved the supporting documents email
Do you think I have a chance to be interviewed, if yes which month do you think?
Thank you
November 20, 2019 at 05:25
You should wait and see. OBVIOUSLY your number is high, which means a LATE interview.
November 19, 2019 at 19:07
I am currently working at US with F1 visa. My number is EU26K. Should I do adjustment of status from US or should I start the procedure from my country?
Thank you
November 20, 2019 at 05:27
You must choose.

November 20, 2019 at 22:24
I think u should enter the case number without the zeros
November 19, 2019 at 23:01
Brit did you say awaiting Moderation? What does that mean pls brit
November 20, 2019 at 05:36
Waiting for my approval.
November 20, 2019 at 04:37
Hi Simon,
My fam just became current for OC.
Do you have a list of what they tend to ask/expect in Australia at interviews?
As my husbo and I were married during the VISA process do you know what level of scrutiny we should expect as an Australian?
Cheers, and thanks for always keeping us informed. I would legit be lost in this whole thing without your blogs and advise.
November 20, 2019 at 05:40
Sydney is similar to other experiences. You can read many here. In Sydney they will not question a recent marriage too much at all – but use some common sense to prove the relationship is genuine.

November 20, 2019 at 05:45
hi, brit, this is KA from AF country, can i ask you pls, what is hole Exactly? and what is the hole in DV 2020 in AF region, my CN 2020AF55k, and i already sent the civil document to KCC on 22 oct, and what you say
thank you
November 23, 2019 at 04:48
You have a long time to wait. So – read this…

November 20, 2019 at 07:21
Hey Brit, I have a small question to ask you about.
My sponsor moved to Florida from Atlanta on July 2019. So the tax file that he gave me is of 2018 where the address specified is old address. Should I prepare any other documents of his migration or is it going to be fine if I only say that my sponsor has moved to another state at the time of interview?
November 23, 2019 at 04:53
No problem.
November 23, 2019 at 05:00
does that mean I don’t have to prepare any documents about his migration??
And what about updating DS-260 form??
November 23, 2019 at 17:36
It means nothing to do. Change the USA address in the DS260 if that was his old address.
November 20, 2019 at 10:10
Dear Brit,
Should I be worried about my hubby’s case number AS29xxx?
November 23, 2019 at 05:04
Would worrying help?
November 20, 2019 at 10:34
Hello sir, Today I received 2nl. And in 2nl my name is KIRAN CHHETRI THAPA which should be KIRAN THAPA CHHETRI. IN DS260 form I put KIRAN THAPA CHHETRI . Is there any problem at the time of interview.. And 2nd question is that I made police report 6 month ago. And in our country police report is valid for 6month only. so, should I make new police report for interview..what should I do sir??
November 21, 2019 at 19:23
May I know ur case number kiran??
November 23, 2019 at 05:08
The name should not be a problem.
I recommend a new police cert.
November 20, 2019 at 12:10
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2020Af174** meaning am current for January interview, however i haven’t sent my documents yet. i have
2 questions
1. Am i late in sending documents or i will still get a january interview slot if i send documents now.
2. What happens if i send my documents in January, will it mean i will be scheduled for February automatically.
November 23, 2019 at 05:25
1. You will not get a January interview.
2. If you send them in January you will get an April interview.
November 24, 2019 at 10:41
Hi Brit,
So it means i will get a february interview despite being current for January? I sent documents on 20th November and my case number is Af174** and i haven’t heard from kcc since i sent the documents.
Thanks
November 24, 2019 at 16:54
You sent your documents too late for a January interview.
November 20, 2019 at 13:55
Hi
I submitted all documents on the 11th of November and received automatic reply to the confirmation of the documents received.l emailed KCC today to inquire if documents are complete for the continue processing of my case. They replied that l should submit documents promptly.
What does it mean?
November 23, 2019 at 06:02
It might mean your documents were not identified, or complete.
Ask them.
November 20, 2019 at 15:36
Hey brit,
thanks for this platform once more. I have been scheduled for my interview. this is for the 5th of december. i have a little complication which is the passport i used in filling the DS260 is missing so i have to make a new one. do you think this is a problem? and will it also be a problem if i reschedule the interview?
November 23, 2019 at 06:04
Why must you change either?
November 20, 2019 at 22:17
Hi Brit,
I was in range of December around EU7k. I didn’t receive any notification. Maybe my requested documents were sent late (middle of October)
Should i wait for 2NL for month January?
Thanks
November 23, 2019 at 06:49
Yep
November 21, 2019 at 03:11
What is 2NL? Didn’t find it anywhere
November 23, 2019 at 16:35
Read the FAQ.
November 21, 2019 at 10:33

Hi
i have caseNumber # EU48XX and i had interview on November 7th. it didn’t even last 3 min. asked me 2 questions and gave back my passports(spouse with 2 kids)
and told us they will contact us once Administrative Processing is over. they didn’t tell us what we are missing any documents.
what do you think how long does it take and what is the possibility of getting VISA. on the same day i observed they are doing the same for all applicants(about 10 DV interview)

If you send the documents now there would not be a delay.
