The new Visa Bulletin has been released. This one is for interviews in June, and as Charlie Oppenheim said he would do – he made the regions current.
Current means can be scheduled for interview (apart from the “except” countries which still have a number limit). However, they will ONLY schedule interviews where the case is “ready for scheduling” (meaning the DS260 and documents have been processed), AND the embassy is operating (open) to accept the interview. PLUS right now, less than 90 embassies are accepting interviews, and none of the embassies are taking high volume.
So – I am worried. I think DV2021 is going to be a mess, and making the regions current probably makes it worse.
I discuss the problem in more detail here:
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means. Some countries have been called out as “exceptions” meaning that selectees chargeable to those two countries (regardless of where they will interview) are subject to a lower VB number for the month than the rest of the region. This is done to slow down processing for countries with a high number of selectees to spread out the workload over a longer time. Please read this linked article on how to read the visa bulletin.

Hi Brit,
I gave in my DS-260 in October. I did not get any answer from kcc to send the documents (2021EU36xxx). Today I submitted my documents and the automatic reply did not receive from KCC. Should I worry that I just now sent the documents? Anyway, Hungarian Embassy still closed. Should the file receiving email answer come in minutes, hours, days or weeks? Thank you!
May 5, 2021 at 21:09
The website https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx
shows Immigrant Visa Case Number: 2021EU36xxx at “NVC”
The website https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx
shows my Visa Case Number: 2021EU36xxx is currently at “KCC”. Foreign state of chargeability: Hungary.
Where is my case? At NVC or KCC?
May 5, 2021 at 23:00
KCC.
May 5, 2021 at 13:48
Hi Brit,
In a normal year, do they send 2NL in a single day or do they send them in consecutive days?
Thanks.
May 5, 2021 at 22:53
Normally 2 batches a month – but this is not a normal year.
May 5, 2021 at 09:12
Hi Simon,
I am in Africa and a winner of the 2021 dv. My case# is AF76XXXX. You think I will get second letter looking at the time? We are in may already.
May 5, 2021 at 21:48
I don’t know.
May 5, 2021 at 05:56
Dear Brit, namaste
I have one question about lawsuit that if we take part in lawsuit for DV 2021, then as being single I have to pay $ 1500. So do I have to pay it before or after went to USA?? I heard that the payment is done after going to USA on 3 months installments?? So is it right??
May 5, 2021 at 14:52
If you are from Cuba, Iran, Nepal, Venezuela, Yemen or any country in Africa; then yes, you have to pay $500 through 3 month installments. However if you are from any other country then the initial payment is 500 and then 1000 when you enter the USA
May 5, 2021 at 21:47
The lawyers themselves will provide this answer.
May 5, 2021 at 01:33
Thank you
May 5, 2021 at 01:14
Brit Simons Hi. Please tell me how you can change the interview at the embassy? On the DS-260 questionnaire? Or do you need to call the KCC?
May 5, 2021 at 01:26
If you have not already been scheduled, you do that by asking KCC.
It’s in the FAQ.
May 4, 2021 at 18:54
Hi Simon, I saw one advert that Curtis Morrison Law is charging $1500 to add participant to be a plaintiff, so my question is , “Do you think it is worth to pay that $1500 to the Curtis Morrison? or should we just wait for the US government decision ?
May 4, 2021 at 19:37
It’s your choice. The lawsuit is not guaranteed to help you, but maybe you think it is worth it to have the best chance possible.
May 4, 2021 at 05:03
Hello Simon,
My case number is EU2k and a friend of mine only EU600, both of us received in July and August 2020 ready for scheduling. So far in our country 8 people have been scheduled and half of them passed the interview already, but all of this people are with higher numbers than my friend and 5 of this are with higher numbers than mine!
Why this is happening we had been skipped? Why do you this people in our country with much higher numbers are been scheduled, and we did not!
Thank you for your time,
May 4, 2021 at 18:30
With so few people being scheduled, there are BOUND to be anomalies in the way cases are prioritized. I said it would be a mess, and it is a mess.
May 4, 2021 at 18:36
Thank you very much!
For me is very strange to be skipped by so many higher numbers.
May 3, 2021 at 17:50
Hi Brit,
I am from Syria, and when I got selected, the default embassy that was chosen for me was Amman. Since the Amman embassy is currently closed, and given that it is easier for me to travel to Abu Dhabi which is currently open, will the KCC accept my request to unlock my DS-260 and switch my interview location to Abu Dhabi? Or are such requests only granted to those who have moved their permanent address to a different country?
FYI, my case is still at NVC and my documents were requested and sent.
Thank you!
May 3, 2021 at 22:34
So far KCC has been refusing those requests without good reason (i.e. you have moved)
May 3, 2021 at 16:36
hi brit, my is sam from ghana and dv2021 winner from ghana, my case number is 54xxx i send my ds260 in november 2020 want to find out when am i recieving my 2nl. thank you
May 3, 2021 at 22:31
Ghana hasn’t accepted a single interview yet, and if they do, there must be many people below your number – so you are at risk. When did you send your documents?
May 3, 2021 at 15:49
Hello BritSimon, first thanks your efforts, i would like to ask, i entered wrong place of birth of my farther. So, do i request to unlock my form to correct it, because in my birth certificate other place birth was written to my father or shall i left as it is.
thanks.
May 3, 2021 at 22:21
Leave as is.
May 2, 2021 at 20:51
This email is UNCLASSIFIED.
Brit Simons hello. Tell me what to do? I can not unlock the ds -260 form. To change the interview at the consulate. Russia needs Kazakhstan. Constantly writes to me when requesting KСС
This email is UNCLASSIFIED.
I fill out the form correctly. name, case number, date of birth and the actual text.
May 3, 2021 at 03:04
I don’t understand your question.
May 3, 2021 at 03:51
I HAVE TO UNLOCK THE DS-260 FORM TO FIX IT. I CAN’T DO IT. ALTHOUGH I FOLLOW EVERYTHING ON THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN CONTACTING KCC
May 2, 2021 at 20:41
Hi Simon,
Hope you’re doing good. I was watching your recent video and it said if you have received your “ready for scheduling” email and if your embassy is accepting cases than you’re by far safe and are expected to get your 2NL. I’m from OC region and my case number is 9XX, I checked the visa status check and my case still shows at “NVC”, no progress of the case yet and my case number is current since February. Is it a matter to be worried or patience is the key? Or is there any further step that can be taken to advance my case ?
Thank you so much for your time.
May god bless you always ?
May 3, 2021 at 03:03
I did NOT say anyone is safe. But all you can do is wait.
May 4, 2021 at 21:32
Hi simon,
Received my 2NL early morning today. Thanks for your guidance. OC9XX
May 4, 2021 at 21:38
Yes – I understand quite a few 2NLs have gone out today. I’m waiting to confirm numbers.
May 4, 2021 at 23:03
Yes, in my country Rwanda, we have like 10 people received 2NL for June interviews
May 2, 2021 at 01:24
Dear Simon,
I watched your YouTube video today, it was great. These new rules / order of types of cases to process, does this also effect AOS? We are in New York, is June-Sept even possible with USCIS before we spend like $3000? Your response is just an opinion, but you know better than most the bottlenecks.
Best,
Peter
May 3, 2021 at 02:49
Doesn’t apply to AOS. Get on with it – you have time.
May 1, 2021 at 23:30
Hi BritSimon:
Please, I unlocked my DS 260 to correct an error, and was asked by KCC to resubmit it when I’m done. I am the principal applicant. Do I ONLY resubmit mine or do I have to do something with those of my derivative applicants whose DS 260s had previously been submitted together with mine.
Thank you.
May 2, 2021 at 20:55
Hello. write as unlocked. I just can’t unblock ds -260.
May 3, 2021 at 02:49
If they were unlocked you would resubmit them too.
May 1, 2021 at 12:52
Hi Brit, I am from Nepal currently in the US on F1 visa. My case number is 82**. For the june month, the case number is limited to 6400. I expect it to be current for the month of July in June visa bulletin. If it becomes current, do I become eligible to apply under AOS ? I haven’t submitted my DS 260 yet. Do you think this is a right time to submit DS 260 ?
May 3, 2021 at 02:39
The DS260 is optional for AOS cases. Please be sure you know what you are doing.

May 1, 2021 at 12:16
Hello Brit,
How’s the weekend?
May 1, 2021 at 04:38
Hi Mr. Brit, what do you think when KCC is expected to send 2NLs for June Month? It has been about 2 weeks passed since VB for june was released.
May 2, 2021 at 22:53
You need to be patient.
May 1, 2021 at 03:47
Update of the DOS on. 30 April 2021
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/immigrant-visa-prioritization.html
Point of interest :
…… ”However, as a result of COVID the number of visas issued in lower-priority preference categories or in such programs as the diversity visa program likely will not approach the statutory ceiling in Fiscal Year 2021.”
God help us. Hmmmmmm
Mr Brit. Please do a live session. This is too much for us to unpack without your guidance.
Thanks alot Sir.
April 30, 2021 at 13:47
I received a mail saying i am ready to be scheduled for an interview. After some time, i received another mail asking my documents again.
Should i have to send documents again?
Actually, I send my documents again, with new and valid police report. Will it cause delay or anything else?
Please answer brit, will be thankful
May 1, 2021 at 03:03
No.
April 30, 2021 at 12:56
Hi Brit,
I hope you are still going strong.
I am just wondering why are limited interviews not being scheduled for June for those embassies that are open as it happened for May interviews.
Today is the last day of the month and we are not seeing any activities from KCC / embassies.
What’s your take on this.
Thanks.
May 1, 2021 at 03:03
We will see over the next few days in next week.
April 30, 2021 at 09:32
Do the consulates have a duty to process Diversity Visas? Any recommendations on arguments I can provide to the Colombo embassy to start processing diversity visas ASAP?
May 1, 2021 at 02:52
No they are not “required” to adjudicate cases. Certainly not at the expense of their safety.
April 29, 2021 at 12:13
Hi Brit,
My post is in Amman but they’re still not fully operating yet and I will be in Canada during the summer anyways. Is it possible or do you even recommend me ask the KCC to move my post from Jordan to Canada? Or will this delay the whole process?
(FYI: DS-260 have been submitted and approved, supporting docs submitted as well).
Thank you.
April 30, 2021 at 04:43
The Neither Amman nor the Canadian US embassy is not scheduling cases at all yet. So…. your guess is as good as mine.
April 29, 2021 at 10:18
Good morning Mr. Brit Simon, mine
CN is 36k.
I state that, I sent DS 260 in June 2020 and the KCC sent me e-mail to send more documents and I did. The KCC replied to me in August 2020, writing me that the documents sent were ok.
I wanted to ask a few questions regarding the DS / 260:
1) What is the (possibly detailed) procedure to follow in order to add the marriage certificate, which took place after the extraction of 06/06/20?
2) Does the spouse have to insert other documents in addition to the marriage certificate?
3) Is it possible to insert the spouse in the month preceding the interview?
4) If the marriage cannot be entered in the DS, can the marriage certificate be brought to the consul?
Thank you in advance for the kind reply you can give me.
April 29, 2021 at 10:29
Sorry, EU36K
April 30, 2021 at 04:35
1. You would resend ALL the documents.
2. Yes – the instructions make that clear – https://britsimonsays.com/document-procedure-modification/
3. The earlier the better to avoid delays.
4. That would complicate things.
April 29, 2021 at 03:26
Hello again Brit.
Is there any reason, the interviews for june are not yet scheduled…covid situation is under control in my country…Way they delay us so much. Time is runing.
Thank for work.
April 30, 2021 at 04:27
There are problems with various embassies, and for the embassies that are scheduling, capacity seems limited.
April 30, 2021 at 05:23
Yes. I see capacity is very limited for now.But with low number as EU 29XX, do you think I should worry. Or we still have a chance? My embassy in Sofia is open but not working fully.
May 1, 2021 at 02:45
Until the visa is in your hand, there is reason to be nervous.
April 28, 2021 at 22:20
Dear Brit thanks for your previous advice.
My question is my daughter turn to 21 after 15 days I submitted my documents to kcc but I didn’t get anything from them I am worried about this what can I do?
Can I ask kcc about this?
If yes with what email?
Thanks a lot.
April 30, 2021 at 04:25
She will have a period of protection from CSPA – so if you are DV2021 she is fine. Read the FAQ.
April 28, 2021 at 19:26
Hi Simon,
I have sent my documents to KCC a while ago. Should I expect a reply/confirmation that they have received them? Or do they only reply once they have scheduled an interview?
April 30, 2021 at 04:21
They may send an automated reply, but that is not really critical. Confirming that they have processed them is important.
April 28, 2021 at 12:10
Hi Brit,
I just saw the news yesterday that Oceania went current. My case number was OC30XX so i didnt think i would have a chance initially, so i didnt bother submitting the DS260 earlier. I have since submitted my DS260 today, and im trying to get my police certificate asap.
I have 2 questions:
1) Should I wait until I have all my documents to submit to the KCC??
2) My application DS260 is a very simple application (one person, no children, well educated), I am thinking i still might have a chance at getting everything processed in time for scheduling an interview, any opinions on this?
Thanks!
April 30, 2021 at 04:13
1. You can submit the DS260 now and follow up with documents once you have everything. Move fast.
2. It’s possible.
April 28, 2021 at 11:24
Dear Mr. Simon!
I would like your advice on whether you think it is worthwhile to join the Goh v. Blinken lawsuit as a plaintiff? I have a pretty high CN (EU35xxx), but since all the regions are current, I am wondering it’s worth to join. What do you think about it?
Thank you in advance!
Dreamer 🙂
April 30, 2021 at 04:12
That really is a matter for you to decide. The lawsuit increases your chances, but there are no guarantees – so decide if the gamble is worthwhile.
April 28, 2021 at 07:45
Hi. The gsiskind team announced onboarding to join lawsuits for dv2021 few hours ago. To those who can afford. This is your opportunity.
Deadline 30 April 2021
Fee : USD 2002
Below is the link:
https://www.visalaw.com/dv-2021-mandamus-litigation-onboarding-page/?s=09
Thank you.
April 28, 2021 at 12:02
Hi!
Great news, but it’s so expensive..
Curtis Morrison also seems to announce a lawsuit pretty soon and the initial fee will be about $500 there. But I don’t know if it’s a good idea to wait for it
April 28, 2021 at 14:52
Dear Abdul!
Thank you! 🙂 Do you think, since all the regions are current, it’s a good idea to participate even if I have a higher CN?
Thanks
April 29, 2021 at 22:07
Hey Abdul and Brit,
i also got an email from the gsiskind law firm about the deadline tomorrow.
Brit, do you think i should join the law suit even they ask for the whole fee upfront?
and 2nd question is how do i upload my documents to my DS260 form, when i log in to my ds260 form i don’t see anywhere to upload the documents
May 1, 2021 at 03:36
You must decide whether to join the lawsuit or not.
You SEND the documents by email.
https://britsimonsays.com/document-procedure-modification/
April 28, 2021 at 05:04
Hi Brit,
I submitted my docs last July and received an email with the following:
“Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all documentation required by the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing”
Now that everyone is “current” is there something I can do to check whether I’m able to be scheduled?
As far as I can tell, the embassy (Sydney) is open, but how do we know which embassies are scheduling interviews?
April 30, 2021 at 04:06
Sydney is open. You should get an interview soon.
April 27, 2021 at 18:59
Hi birt … i want ask you about your openion with embassy us in kiev / Ukraine and there history with dv visas ! If you know some information!
April 27, 2021 at 19:27
Nothing particularly noteworthy.
April 27, 2021 at 18:22
Hello Brit,
It appears to KCC and the Embassy’s don’t care about the DV program since they always say “Winning the DV lottery is not a guarantee to get a visa or interview.
April 27, 2021 at 03:19
Sir when I check my ceac visa status check they show me it’s at nvc what does that means. I’m dv2021AS13***
April 27, 2021 at 10:21
Hello
NVC means that your Case is still under processing at KCC Ann NOT yet ready for scheduling
April 27, 2021 at 14:03
Is “[email protected] “the email which I should ask whether kcc is satisfied with my documents
April 27, 2021 at 19:25
Yes
April 27, 2021 at 19:23
Layan, that is not correct. NVC is the status for ALL cases prior to being scheduled. Some cases at NVC will in fact be ready for scheduling but not yet scheduled.
April 27, 2021 at 19:15
Read the FAQ please.
April 27, 2021 at 00:01
Hello simon,
CN : AS29xxx
1- traveled back to my home country for vacation for a month! should i request KCC to unlock my DV to edit it?
2- submitted my DV260 since past year haven’t had any acknowledgment whatsoever from KCC personnel! should i send my documents regardless?
3- resides in UAE in which US embassy is fully functional ! is that an advantage?
4- is there any lawsuit to participate in ! considering my High CN?
April 27, 2021 at 19:15
1. No
2. YES!
3. No embassy is “fully functional”. None are handling the volume they should be.

April 26, 2021 at 23:47

April 27, 2021 at 19:13
No.
April 26, 2021 at 23:45
Hi FATHIMA FARZIN AMIT,
Thanks for your valuable advice. Please can I post the exact link. if we sell our house prior to moving to US are we still liable to tax?
April 26, 2021 at 12:55
Hi Brit, I have submitted my DS since july 2020 and my documents in April 2021 last week but my ceac status still at NVC despite multiple mails send to KCC asking about my case they have answered me that my DS is under process. My CN is 2021AF19xxx please advise on way forward.
April 26, 2021 at 14:22
How did you check your case status can you share the link
April 26, 2021 at 20:32
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV
April 27, 2021 at 02:33
What is the immigrant visa case number. Please tell me
May 1, 2021 at 02:57
Is this link correct? we cannot see anything in there
April 27, 2021 at 18:52
There is no magic trick. You make sure your documents are submitted and processed, then you hope to get scheduled (which will depend on whether your embassy is accepting interviews or not.
April 25, 2021 at 18:40
Hi Simon,
Are you well?
I know this has been very unusual year (DV2021). Though I noticed you don’t like making predictions, just for the sake of this discussion, what do you think is the best case scenario for DV2021 in terms of % of visa issuance.
Thanks
April 25, 2021 at 20:30
Can you think of any way for me or anyone else be able to come up with that %?
April 26, 2021 at 09:32
I thought KCC guys confide in you
April 27, 2021 at 18:08
No – but even if they did – they cannot predict anything.
April 25, 2021 at 14:26
Hi Brits, Would it be possible now that the KCC will process documents of selectees which their embassies are accepting DVs and ignore the rest for now?
April 25, 2021 at 18:33
We will have to wait and see. They are not working fast enough.
April 24, 2021 at 22:07
Hi Brit, thank you so much for your excellent work! i appreciate a lot
The email which i used during the initial application to send the DS-260 fails to send the required documents. For this i created an other one and sent documents successfully. (both emails are now functional)
1. does it has problem?
2. Should i inform KCC for using different email from the initial one?
April 25, 2021 at 18:16
Doesn’t matter at all.
April 24, 2021 at 11:49

April 24, 2021 at 15:12
Thanks you very much always for your useful advice .. we all appreciate
April 24, 2021 at 10:11
Hello! Unfortunately, no 2nl for so many countries( no 2nl for Ukraine for June. They issued bulletin, and no 2ln( Still trying to be positive and not to lose a hope to get a 2nl! Have a nice weekend everyone!)
April 24, 2021 at 12:18
Patience, there’s still another week in April. The 2NLs are being sent in two batches anyway.
April 24, 2021 at 15:06
Recently they have been sending more sporadically – so people just need some patience.
May 10, 2021 at 09:18
So this means 2NLs could be sent any time of the month? My friend got his for Sydney last week and I was disappointed I didn’t receive one also (he does have lower case number).
May 10, 2021 at 23:50
Well I do not think they will send more Sydney ones until next month. Each embassy will be given one batch of 2NLs
April 24, 2021 at 04:52
Hi, now with all region, my wife and kids are in another country far away and I am about to submit my ds260 forms.
1. Is it OK if I only submit for me along and when am issue a green card I will later send for them
2. She is pregnant and expecting a child in September 2021, so decided to only send my ds 260 forms since she returned home to give birth. Hope this us possible
3. I am awaiting my police Clarence
April 24, 2021 at 14:57
1. Yes, but the process to bring them will be more complex, slow and expensive.
April 23, 2021 at 21:42
Hi mr brit !!!! Want asked you i winner 2021 my case number AS19 i send ds60 and they asked me to send doucement i submit the doucement in end of January … all doucement as they asked by email !

April 24, 2021 at 14:45
Wait a couple of weeks and try again. They are probably working through the backlog.
April 23, 2021 at 20:35
Hi Brit
Thank you for your great work again!
CN 2021AF30xxx
I sent the required documents to KCC on march 13,2021(6 weeks ago) but i didn’t get any response whether my documents are under processing or not. OR my documents satisfied KCC or not. For this reason i need to ask KCC.
1. Which KCC email should i use to send my questions?
Thank you for your response.
April 23, 2021 at 20:43
The one on your selected letter, or in google.
April 23, 2021 at 20:06
Hi Brit,
Could it be harmful to my case if I log in to the CEAC page, where I submitted my DS 260 last year?
I don’t mean the status check, but the link: DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application.
The reason I wanted to do this is to check if something changed there. This because I read in a forum (maybe here or somewhere else i don’t remember ) that someone asked for the status and it was misunderstood and the ds 260 was erronously unlocked. I wanted to see if mine is still good (and not unlocked). However, I don’t know if logging in there would somehow reset something in their system or so or have any other negative / delaying impact.
Thanks a lot

Hi All,
I just want to give some advice to new DV winners who manage to get approved for an immigrant visa. Please consult a big 5 tax consultant before you book your ticket to fly to US and get expert advice on how to best dispose of your assets if you plan to or what to expect as your tax liability upon becoming a US green card holder as from that date you will be considered a tax resident. You will be responsible for taxes from the date you land in US. I was ill advised about this and so we made the move to US within a month of receiving the visa on our passports just to secure the green card. We actually thought that we would get some tax exemption within the first year of getting our visa but we were misled somehow. So I advise you to please get proper advise from a reputable tax consultants like KPMG or PWC and then make your plans and handle your assets and finances properly. Please don’t think it’s a waste of money to pay for a consult with a tax consultant. Trust me – consider it an investment because it will help you to handle your first year’s tax filing in the US with ease. If you can google this document COMING TO AMERICA – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW by KPMG, please do. It is very enlightening. This advice is mainly for people moving to US how have considerable investments and assets in the place of residence or home country. Getting expert advice might actually reduce your tax liability in the first year’s tax filing.

It’s a pity you didn’t research that properly. I have stated before that I cleaned up assets before moving to the USA.
April 23, 2021 at 19:31
It is a pity. I do agree. I unfortunately must have missed the blog where you advised us in this regard. But you’ve been so helpful with all your advice. Thank you. Perhaps, you could do a new blog to highlight this advice once again to all the newcomers to your site.
April 23, 2021 at 20:36
Well I avoid giving tax advice wherever I can. I am not an expert – my solution was to sell some things before I came.
April 23, 2021 at 21:53
Of course.. understandably so.. all the more reason that I suggested they contact expert tax professional from reputable consultancies as I would like them to learn from my misunderstandings.

Also dear winners who may be issued an immigrant visa, please research FOREIGN EARNED INCOME EXCLUSION or FOREIGN HOUSING EXCLUSION or Bonafide Residence Test or Physical Presence Test before you buy your ticket to fly to US. Just a few dates less or more of you residing in your country can make all the difference in the amount of income you will be taxed upon in your first year tax filing. If you’ve lived 330 days out of the 365 day tax year out of the US, you will not be taxed on up to $107,000 approx as a result of the above mentioned FOREIGN EARNED INCOME EXCLUSION from your annual gross income. So please do pay heed to my advice and consider these issues and do hire a reputable tax consultant who specializes in new immigrants first year taxes.

Hey there! Thanks for the heads-up! Couldn’t find the paper by kpmg – could please leave a reference?

Will be happy to share the doc if you wish to share your email. Alternatively, you may contact KPMG and contact their Global Mobility Services Division. We enlisted their services however, you can call any reputable tax consultant like PWC or Ernst & Young and they will be able to advise you better than small time tax consultants who do not want to deal with expat situations or new immigrants. We contacted several tax consultants here but a lot of them were not confident in handling our situation so we finally went with KPMG and it’s been a good call to do so. But we do wish we’d have known what we know now as it would have reduced our tax liability considerably had we delayed our entry into the US by a few days that would have made us eligible for certain tax exemptions. You can also go to the irs.gov website and query FOREIGN EARNED INCOME EXCLUSION or FOREIGN HOUSING EXCLUSION or BONAFIDE RESIDENCE TEST or PHYSICAL PRESENCE TEST which will give you better insight. It’s imperative we educate ourselves before we make this move. I’d like others to learn from our oversight.
