The new Visa Bulletin was just released yesterday, but I am travelling so I am a day late to update you. giving the numbers which will be current for June interviews. If your DS260 has been processed, and you are now current, then you should be getting your interview notification soon, but it depends on your embassy.
We can see a small increase for AF region as a whole with some good increases for limited countries. In fact the number for AF means there is only ONE case not current for AF region, so that is great news for AF (unless your case is AF63502). Asia region is once again limited (with many cases above the regional max) but Iran and Nepal have received a welcome bump. In Europe, there are nearly 2500 cases above the 30000 cutoff. Russia stayed static (although is nearly at the EU level anyway) and Uzbekistan got a small increase. Small increases for OC and SA regions too, and whilst SA is quite close to being current, OC region is quite low compared to its highest available case number. I really don’t know how the remaining months will play out for those regions and countries that are not current yet, I don’t have predictions, and clearly the process is being heavily affected by those embassies that are building up AV queues because they are restricting interview numbers. That, by the way is clearly why AF region is defacto current.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a hadful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So, for example – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from a few countries, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hey Brit Simon
Why haven’t the kcc sent the 2nl for the month of june ?
April 15, 2023 at 18:56
The VB was only just released and as they did not have any delay in releasing the VB, KCC probably didn’t have the numbers much earlier than we did. Relax and exercise some patience.
April 15, 2023 at 00:32
If you don’t mind, could you please elaborate more on what do you mean by “with many cases above the regional max” for the Asia region?
April 15, 2023 at 21:45
There are 2257 AS region cases above 18750. None are Iranian, and only a small number are from Nepal.
April 15, 2023 at 01:40
Eiii so what’s happening in Accra embassy this is too bad.
April 15, 2023 at 09:27
April 15, 2023 at 21:45
Accra have made a decision to ruin the chances of a lot of people in Ghana.
April 15, 2023 at 05:39
my case number is around 2800 (Asia) it has been current since December 2022, but I’ve not received the 2NL yet, I’ve heard that i won’t be invite for interview because of my late DS-260 submission in middle of July !! is that true?
April 15, 2023 at 21:48
It depends mostly on your embassy. If your embassy is doing well, your submission date would not matter at all.
April 15, 2023 at 06:45
Hello Brit. thanks for guiding us through this whole journey. I am a dv2023 winner from Ghana case no. 2023AF24***. I submitted my Ds-260 on 9th june 2022. My status is still at NVC even though my case was supposed to be current a few months ago.
1. How do I know if its processed
2. Looking at the slow pace of Ghana embassy (with just about 30people a month) will you advice me to request to unlock and change now?
3. Do I still stand an equal chance of getting the visa if I change to a different country(I have never lived in or been to) since they will not be familiar with my documentation, schools and certificates etc?
4. Finally if you were in my shoes what will be the best action or actions to take now?
April 15, 2023 at 21:50
1. You could email KCC, but I am certain it is processed.
2. I would have advised ou to unlock and change earlier, but now it is probably too late.
3. Not getting an interview is the end.
4. Pray for a miracle.
April 15, 2023 at 09:31
Hi brit am still not sure what’s happening cause my case number is very very low but till now havnt received ant 2NL. AF79** and if I check my status is still at NVC. What should I do am from Ghana
April 15, 2023 at 21:51
Ghana is only allowing a tiny number of interviews each month, and that will ruin the chances for many Ghanaians.
April 16, 2023 at 07:24
But why are they doing that isn’t that illegal
April 15, 2023 at 12:38
I had my I interview on 7th of April 2023, my case is currently under 221g, I didn’t had any missing documents, did my medicals prior to the interview, the consular told me to fill the ds-5535 form and we will contact you back, i fill the form the day after the interview but there was no updates on my case on ceac, the reason why i’m under the 221g processing is !! as of my point of view because of employment records, i had my employment verification latter from the office where I’m working which only indicates the starting and ongoing of my employment history with my current position, i worked in different positions in last six years, my last two positions were included in my ds-260 form but not the current one. So dear sir is it a solid reason to put someone on 221g processing or does this causes visa refusal..? I’m so worried
Should i make an inquiry to the related embassy or i heard making inquiries badly affects on individual visa ?
Thank you sir
April 15, 2023 at 18:54
I can’t guess the outcome for your case. No harm in asking status.
April 16, 2023 at 03:29
Hi Sir Brit,AF46×××,am current for April interview but up to now, haven’t received 2NL,sir is the Yaounde embassy working well or it’s backlogged? thanks for the great work 🙏
April 16, 2023 at 11:11
Hi- what about the 2500 cases for EU after the current cutoff of 30K? I look at the no-show rate it Frankfurt and Warsaw.
Many Ukrainians and Russians can’t make it. Can we assume that no-shows will make filling the EU quota unlikely & expect slight increase of VB next month?
April 16, 2023 at 14:27
That is possible, but I would not “expect” it.
May 12, 2023 at 03:53
Thanks for not expecting but the VB is increased.
April 16, 2023 at 15:57
What is your take on OC being quite slow and going really against the trend of the last 4 years while this year is meant to be more on track? Each embassy looks like they are up to speed yet each Vb is only going up so slowly/if at all.
April 16, 2023 at 18:09
It is *because* things are going normally that the VB is appearing to go slow in OC. OC has a quota of around 850 visas. 823 people have been scheduled so far, just over 400 issued. So, assuming some will be no shows for the interviews, some will get refused and so on, they might only need to schedule 200 to 300 more people in order to reach and even exceed the quota. Those 823 scheduled all came from just 358 cases, and there are 288 cases under 1550 that have not yet been scheduled (although some of those will have decided not to complete the DS260). So you see, in reality KCC have more than enough time to fill the quota, the embassies are working at the right pace, and even if they didn’t increase the VB number much more at all, they would probably be able to hit the quota from the cases already current under 1550.
April 18, 2023 at 00:08
Similar question i just posted! Looking at last year it went all the way up 1057 issued visas. is it 850 cases or visas? im a little confused. does this mean outlook for CN 19** is at high risk?
April 22, 2023 at 10:26
Last year saw the quota exceeded because of dysfunction in the system – mainly in AF region. So – is there risk at you CN – yes – some.
April 19, 2023 at 22:18
So this means slight chance for numbers above 2000CN. Does 850 includes the numbers for refused visas.
April 22, 2023 at 11:04
The quota relates to issued visas.
April 17, 2023 at 04:41
Hi brits,is Nairobi getting any better
April 17, 2023 at 11:48
Not to the level needed.
April 17, 2023 at 17:01
Hi brit my husbans is selected for DV 2023 with case number EU3003* in Tirana Embbasies. What os your opinion about the increase of VB next month. We are so near 😔
April 17, 2023 at 17:16
I really have no way to predict that.
April 18, 2023 at 20:43
Hi Brit, I’m just wondering if KCC still requires a dv winner who has submitted form Ds-260 to submit any other supportive documents like copies of (Birth certificate, Passport and police clearance) for them to review the form?
April 22, 2023 at 11:01
Not at this time.
April 18, 2023 at 23:14
Hi Simon. For the remaining 3 months, is there any chance that VB No. for AS region will be increased?
April 22, 2023 at 11:01
It is possible.
April 26, 2023 at 03:02
Hi Brit my case number OC2260 when can i expect my interview?
April 26, 2023 at 16:12
Your number is not current yet, and I don’t know when or if it will be current – so I can’t predict your interview.
April 26, 2023 at 03:19
AM Ethiopian with CN 2023AF4130# in ANKARA, Still hasn’t received my 2NL.
1.Should i ask KCC to change place at this point or wait here.
(i can move to Tanzania)
2.How do you rate Ankara progress still sir ? Do you think they will be able to reach my case number for an interview. They seem to be so slow.
April 26, 2023 at 18:09
1. You have to make that decision for yourself.
2. Ankara is underperforming, but I don’t know whether that will change or not.
April 26, 2023 at 11:16
Hey, Brit! My interview should be scheduled in another country. Where can I have my medical examination? In the country of the interview or I can do where I am now and then travel to the interview with all documents on me? Thank you.
April 26, 2023 at 18:10
Almost always in the country of interview.
April 27, 2023 at 03:25
In light of what’s happening in Sudan and the suspension of visa services by the US embassy (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/suspension-of-visa-services-in-sudan.html), is there any hope for candidates who manage to escape to nearby countries like Egypt to change their case there, given that they’re current and can no longer change their address from the KCC?
My understanding is transferring after you’re current requires the cooperation of your original embassy. I hope the department of state creates a reassignment procedure the way they did for Ukraine and Afghanistan, but until then I’m not sure what to do. Any advice would be much appreciated.
April 27, 2023 at 09:07
Your understanding about the original embassy is incorrect – the case in AV status has not yet been sent to the embassy. So – you can contact KCC with an explanation of where you now reside and ask for the interview to be moved to that place.
April 28, 2023 at 01:31
Hi Brits am from Kenya case no.2023Af31****.according to xanthius report,I can’t see any movement at the Nairobi embassy and time is running out.bt I can see our neighbour Tanzania is doing well.Is it possible to change my embassy of interview to Tanzania with only 3months remaining and would u advice that.
April 28, 2023 at 15:10
KCC won’t want to change your embassy assignment. The only way to make that happen is if the other embassy asks KCC on your behalf – and quite honestly that is rare/unlikely.
April 28, 2023 at 12:32
Hi Mr Brits..please its finish for dv 20 Winners?
April 28, 2023 at 15:11
The appeal for Gomez is not yet finished.
April 28, 2023 at 17:08
Why i can’t see my question here?
April 28, 2023 at 17:26
I see 6 other questions from you, so I don’t know what you mean.
April 30, 2023 at 17:33
My case number is 2023AF21738 from Ghana. Did submit my case in December 19, 2023. Any possibility of getting interview looking at the slow pace of work at Accra Embassy
May 5, 2023 at 14:04
Accra have behaved badly and are restricting the number of interviews they are accepting. Your late submission of the DS260 probably reduced your chances also, so to be honest, your situation is highly at risk.
April 30, 2023 at 04:01
Hi sir Brit,dv 2023 selectee from Cameroon, please how is the US embassy in Cameroon working? thanks for the great work
April 30, 2023 at 13:37
Not perfect, but better than most.
May 8, 2023 at 18:46
I was just wondering how the queue for 2nl emails works? I am case number OC13** for Sydney embassy and I just saw that cases higher than mine are now showing ready but mine is still at NVC. I submitted my DS-260 on 10th of may 2022 and got the email saying that this has been processed. I assume that I will be getting the 2nl soon but I just want to know why higher cases have progressed before mine?
May 8, 2023 at 21:46
May 8, 2023 at 20:38
Do you reckon upcoming visa bulletins would become current this year? OC region here, thanks!
May 8, 2023 at 21:47
I don’t know. They shouldn’t. There are too many selectees.
May 9, 2023 at 14:32
PLEASE CAN I WRITE TO THE EMBASSY IN ACCRA TO RELOCATE ME TO ANOTHER EMBASSY FOR MY INTERVIEW?.
May 9, 2023 at 18:28
If you have not already received your 2NL, the embassy doesn’t have any information about your case.
May 11, 2023 at 04:04
Ho Mr. Simon I hope you’re great . There is a real issue with US embassy Niamey ( Republic of Niger ) they don’t schedule DV interviews and they don’t answer calls or mails . And whenever we contact KCC , we receive auto reply mails saying the case is ready for interview and they’ll notify us once a date is set and bla blah blah . Do think we should wait or it’s better to try to transfer to another country for an interview ?? Time is running out . For the record , the case number of the winner is in the range of 2023AF43xxx
May 11, 2023 at 08:59
Change location if you can
May 28, 2023 at 14:00
I literally just joined your live session earlier and have a couple of questions: DV 2024 winner, AF 34***, interviewing in Canada.
1.From Xarthithius CEAC data, especially looking at embassy performances, do i use the embassy table with numbers for each month or the graph ? I ask because for Montreal embassy, I see small numbers for each month like 39,53,14 yet looking at the AF on the graph- I see they’re interviewing high case numbers. How is that so? Fewer people yet reaching/covering high case numbers.
Ultimately, does it mean the montreal embassy is performing?
2.My B1/B2 visa expired last year in October and i reapplied to renew it this year. My interview is in October 2023. Should I honor that interview since I’m a dv-winner and currently filling my ds-260?
May 29, 2023 at 08:35
1. Don’t confuse the number of interviews accepted per month with the case numbers. This video explains why some higher case numbers get interviewed. https://youtu.be/8D5QzxAiXBI
2. That’s your choice.
