The VB was late again, so this is continuing the new pattern. This exact pattern has been the case for four months running – so we should now expect the same timing – VB around the 17th/18th of the month .
Nice big jumps in the regions, especially EU which is as I expected – so that should calm a few people down.
Region | All DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed Separately | |
---|---|---|
AFRICA | 31,500 | Except: Egypt 22,000 |
ASIA | 12,500 | Except: Iran 7,600 Nepal 8,800 |
EUROPE | 21,000 | |
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) | 9 | |
OCEANIA | 1,625 | |
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN | 1,300 |
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month (although more recently it has been published a few days later – around the 17th/18th), and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.
February 7, 2020 at 14:05
IN 2019 the months of June July August September did not show any numbers for interview but indicated current. what did this mean
February 7, 2020 at 22:50
Please read the FAQ about the meaning of current.
February 5, 2020 at 13:47
Hello Brit
Would really really appreciate your help on a big issue which I am facing.
The KCC has recently forwarded an email regarding my interview appointment at Johannesburg, Consulate General of the United States for the DV-2020 visa.
The deadline for the submission of the DS 260 form was on the 30th of September 2019. At that time, my marital status was “single” and this had been duly written on my DS 260 form. I thereafter got married. My civil wedding took place on the 10th of December 2019 and my religious wedding took place on the 20th of December 2019. I hold the relevant marriage certificate as proof. As such, it is unclear to me whether:
The Consulate will still consider my application as valid as, whilst my DS 260 form states that I was single at that time, I have since gotten married. Please advise.
If the Consulate will still consider my application as valid, I will register my appointment online and come to the Interview. When I do, how should I proceed for my Spouse? Should I obtain my Visa under the DV-2020 and then do a separate application later on for my Spouse Visa? Should my Spouse be present at the interview?
Grateful if you could assist and advise on the best way forward.
February 5, 2020 at 21:24
You should have unlocked and added the spouse as soon as you were married in December. Now you must contact the embassy and see how they will manage adding your spouse.
February 6, 2020 at 09:17
I’ve tried contacting the US Consulate in johannesburg a number of times. I left an email almost one week ago, no response. I sent a follow up email, still no response. I’ve called several times, but no individual picked up to advice. I only obtained general information via their machines. I don’t know what to do more 🙁
February 6, 2020 at 19:54
That’s why you should have done this in December. I have no other suggestions.
February 5, 2020 at 07:11

January 30, 2020 at 00:52

January 30, 2020 at 02:45
Once
January 29, 2020 at 21:50
Hello everyone waiting for the interview. This is just FYI, we just got our interview appointment being schedule in early March, 2020. Our case number is AS11xxx, and documents were verified in early December, 2019. Even though our case was current in February, we are scheduled only in March.
January 24, 2020 at 03:57
Hi Brit,
My CN is 29*** from Afghanistan, when shall i expect my interview?
January 24, 2020 at 16:47
Your number is one of the highest AS numbers, so it will be towards the end of the interviews. Be patient, and read the VB.
January 24, 2020 at 03:54
Hi sir,
Im from srilanka. They called for interview on march 03, its for my mother and father, should they take medical insurance for america before the interview ?
And they didn’t mention the hospital where they have to take medical so can we take medical in any hospital in srilanka??
January 24, 2020 at 16:46
1. No
2. No – they must read the embassy instructions (linked from the official instructions they were given earlier).
January 22, 2020 at 23:44
Hello dears,
İs there anybody From EU between 14000-21000 who has already received 2NL?

January 23, 2020 at 06:39
Hello brit,
After sending ds260 on November, kcc ask me for documents on the 18th of October, I submitted it on 23 th of the same month.
Since that day I didn’t receive any notifications from kcc confirming that my documents are okay.
But in my auto reply mail I can read that my email have been received and they’re processing my documents, they’ll be back to me between 3 or 6 weeks.
I’ve send and email to kcc asking about my documents state but I didn’t receive satisfy answer.
I can be current in the next vb, what should I do now?
THANKS for helping me sir.
January 23, 2020 at 20:40
You have two choices:
1. Wait
2. Ask them if they are satisfied.
January 23, 2020 at 21:52
If I chose to wait, am I not going to have a delay with my case ,because I think I’ll be current next month.
But can i submit the documents one more time?

January 21, 2020 at 17:49
Hi!!i am from cameroon residing in the USA.
I just want to thank Britsimon for your beautiful work on this platform.it has really helped me in my dv year 2018.
December 14, 2020 at 12:15
Indeed! This blog is really helpful.
I am also a Cameroonian residing in the US.
Nice meeting you here.
January 20, 2020 at 16:50
Hello, I will like to appeal to our consciences and patience. No country in the world does things the way they are done in the USA. Not even where you or i come from. We must respect this nation and know it is helping the whole world. No haste asking for numbers here and there or blaming an imaginary lateness. If you are meant to come here, you will and nothing will stop you, period. BritSimon is doing a great job which would not have been done if it were in other countries. We must be appreciative.
Away from that caution, i will like to inform DV selected candidates that our Church offers free assistance to new Americans. We offer assistance such as transport from the airport to a temporary lodging for a few months to give you time to settle, job search, get your social security etc..free of charge. Email us at [email protected] Let us know your needs ( Whatsapp. 1 701 885 1267). Ask to speak to Pastor Dal or Benz. God bless you all. ( Isaiah 1:19)
January 20, 2020 at 15:55

January 19, 2020 at 23:02
You have months to wait. Why are you stressing about the 6 weeks? Patience.
January 20, 2020 at 12:36
You’re right ok i will wait. Thank you
January 19, 2020 at 18:19

January 19, 2020 at 12:04
Hello Brit, happy new year for you

Tell me n my second question is my Spooncer recently offer his family (father&mother) around six months bt they come back to native country Nepal after some days .so clearify any problem for my dv 2020 processing ?
January 19, 2020 at 18:37
1. Wait and see.
2. Probably OK.
January 19, 2020 at 09:25
Dear Mr. Brit
can i expect i will be current on Next VB (CN 2020AS107** Nepal)?
Thank You
January 19, 2020 at 18:30
Wait and see.
January 19, 2020 at 01:08
Hi Britt, I m de lottery 2020 winner and I m on a J1 visa. My case will be current in April and I m trying to submit all the documents that is required. So far I have submitted most of the documents but I just read online that J1 visa holder has to submit form DS-3035 and mail it to the department of state. I m not really familiar with this form and I m confused on who is to fill it. On the web it says that it’s the government or the embassy of your home country that should fill it and when I looked at the form it looks like they are not the one to fill it. Can you clarify to me who is suppose to fill it, if you know. Thank you and have a nice evening.
January 19, 2020 at 01:16
You only need that if you have not satisfied a 2 year home residency period from a J1.
January 19, 2020 at 01:19
I m not subjected to the 2 year residency program. Do I still need to fill it.
January 18, 2020 at 14:58
there are any chance for africa 67k
ds sent 06/01/2019
January 18, 2020 at 20:13
Possibly.
January 18, 2020 at 13:18
I don’t understand Kcc sometimes. They tell you your case number I’d current but you will only end up recieving 2NL only one month after. Most people current for December got it in January and those for January in February and the trend continues
January 18, 2020 at 20:11
It’s not hard to understand. Documents.
January 18, 2020 at 11:17
What is your opinion about As region more visas are be given are wasted ?
January 18, 2020 at 20:06
I cannot understand your question.
January 18, 2020 at 09:47
Hello brit my case number AF296**is current which is a good thing but I’m not too excited about it coz i sent my documents on the 17th of jan. one of the required documents took too much time to get ready.
Is it too late for my CN to be scheduled for
An interview by march?
If so when will i get scheduled for an interview?
January 18, 2020 at 20:04
April/May.
January 18, 2020 at 09:16
I’ve watched the video (all 40 mins. of it lol) and I have a question. In previous estimations and comments around here you were pretty certain that AS would go current because there are enough visas available. Now you say that numbers in the 28k-31k range are at risk. What changed? Is it all because of this month’s VB that saw no progress for AS?
January 18, 2020 at 20:02
My gut feeling hasn’t changed, but as time goes by there needs to be movement. I also explain the math in the video – given that we now have better data.
January 18, 2020 at 20:07
Yeah I’ve understood the math, thanks for doing that. I just wonder if in light of your predicitons and the math there are more than enough visas available for AS, then what do you think might go wrong and make the region have a final cap? Is it because of backlog?
January 18, 2020 at 20:19
Sensible caution.
January 18, 2020 at 08:57
Hello sir!
Good jump in EU
My case is 550xx..Do you think that I still have a chance
Thank you!
January 18, 2020 at 20:01
Obviously your number is in the last few cases – so you certainly can only wait and see.
January 18, 2020 at 06:53
Hello, Brit! Thank you for your great job
I have two silly questions
1. What do you think about EU after MARCH VB were realized? Will EU be current ?
2. In Russia And Egypt the same number of selectees. Will Russia have an individual cutoff ? We are afraid of this.
Thank you again!
January 18, 2020 at 19:45
1. Wait and see.
2. No. Much higher no response and refusal rate in Russia.
January 18, 2020 at 06:43
Amazing jump for EU gave us real
Hope
I am
EU35k
Do you think they can save the steps and do 7r or even more next months ?
Will it be possible EU35K to be current for May Or June ??
When they have to check the documents ( I sent in ocotber ) for me to be scheduled for an interview in time ?
Thank you so
Much Brit
January 18, 2020 at 19:43
We will have to wait and see.
Yes your documents need to be processed as well as your DS260.
January 18, 2020 at 06:32
Hi my case no is Af54k is there hope going interview which month thank
January 18, 2020 at 19:42
Summer 2020
January 18, 2020 at 06:32
Dear Simon
Thanks for your information. My case number is AS17K and received the confirmation from KCC that they received all the required documents and waiting for my case to be current to scheduled the interview. When should I expect my interview?
January 18, 2020 at 19:41
What would be your guess?
January 19, 2020 at 05:10
April
January 20, 2020 at 06:16
Am I right?
January 20, 2020 at 23:00
I don’t know. We’ll see.
January 18, 2020 at 04:49
Hello Mr Brit , thank you for a quick release of march VB for 2020. My case number is 2020Af484** .I have tried to check my ceac status online and the captcha is not available to enter and submit.
1) what can be the problem?
2) from the march bulletin, what will my casecbe current? Thanks
January 18, 2020 at 05:12
1. I don’t know.
2. 2 or 3 more months.
January 18, 2020 at 06:18
Thank you sir
January 18, 2020 at 02:27
Hi, Brit!
After submitting DS-260 I visited US once. Should I unlock the DS-260 and update my visits part?
Thank you
January 18, 2020 at 04:26
No need. They know.
January 18, 2020 at 01:57
I’m 2020SA2xxx and concerned about it! It only increased a little bit. Can you think of a reason for this? 🙁
January 18, 2020 at 04:26
SA2XXX is a big range!
I’m not sure why they are moving so slowly in SA region. There is clearly risk for high numbers as I have been saying for a while now.
January 18, 2020 at 01:56
Hello Brit.
case number: AF22, unlocked DS 260 3 times. Last Submitted DS 260 on December 7. I don’t have chance yet to receive 2NL, please tell me what should I do now.
January 18, 2020 at 04:24
Have you submitted documents? When?
January 18, 2020 at 17:19
Yes I submitted it and they accepted it. I’m worrying about why they don’t schedule my case yet. Please give me your advice.
January 18, 2020 at 20:15
When you don’t answer my questions it wastes my time. I’m a busy person.
January 18, 2020 at 17:21
I submitted it December 7
January 18, 2020 at 20:15
Then be patient.
January 18, 2020 at 00:06
Hello Brit,
My CN is AS948* & it seems the number will be current in next VB. I need your advice to unlock the DS260 to add the answer for questions added later. As I have time so should I do it ? Or leave as it is so that it won’t push back my interview date ??
January 18, 2020 at 00:08
From Nepal
January 18, 2020 at 04:22
You can decide. Unlocking does not normally cause delays. Procrastination does.
January 17, 2020 at 23:59
Hay Brit, I am in 13,000 but I haven’t received any mail directing to me to SUBMIT my civil documents, like BIRTH certificate, should I wait until I receive mail before submitting?
January 18, 2020 at 04:22
You can email KCC and ask whether they want you to submit documents.
January 17, 2020 at 23:45
Hi, why the numbers in the SA region have decreased, it will be due to the embassy’s capacity
January 18, 2020 at 02:19
It didn’t decrease. It increased just a little bit. From 1150 to 1300. I’m also concerned! I’m SA27xx 🙁
January 18, 2020 at 04:26
SA27XX is almost certainly safe.
January 18, 2020 at 04:21
I don’t know.
January 17, 2020 at 23:34
Under AS13500 cases no hope right? (Nepal)
January 18, 2020 at 04:20
What are you talking about???
January 17, 2020 at 22:44
Any opinion of SA?
January 18, 2020 at 04:19
It’s not going well for SA. The next month or two might see a jump, but there is obvious risk for high case numbers.
January 17, 2020 at 22:11
Hi Brit. Our case number is EU00012***, current for February, our documents were accepted by KCC but we did not recieved an invitation – only 2 weeks left till the end of January. should we be afraid?
January 18, 2020 at 04:18
Afraid of what?
Patience.
January 29, 2020 at 20:10
Did you receive it Please
January 17, 2020 at 21:55
Hi britt
Thank you for your help iam as 30xxx this bulletin is to slow for AS iam worried that my case is to far according to ceac That you published there is 7953 case in front of me
January 18, 2020 at 04:17
Yeah, you have a nervous few months of waiting. Have a look at the video I am about to publish if you want to understand more…
January 17, 2020 at 21:27
Hi Britt
Any chance now for CN 311**? Maybe in May? Thank you for every information
January 17, 2020 at 21:28
I am Eu31***
January 18, 2020 at 04:16
Ahh, well at least you realized.
Your number is fine. Be patient.
January 18, 2020 at 04:16
No region. Wasted question.
January 20, 2020 at 20:18
Hello Britney, I’ll like to know what can be the consequences if a girl turned pregnant during the dv process, specifically after sending documents but before medical examination.
Please tell me
January 20, 2020 at 23:34
Britney?????
No problem. Humans get pregnant. You can read about that in the FAQ.
January 17, 2020 at 21:25
Can’t say I wasn’t heartbroken to see the progress for AS region. Was really hoping to get current in March, especially based on how fast it was progressing in the previous months.
January 18, 2020 at 04:15
Patience. Just be thankful that you will get current.
January 18, 2020 at 15:19
I know. It’s just that with my F1 status ending soon, getting this DV process settled sooner would’ve given me the relief I need. Now it seems like I’d have to apply for OPT and start the AOS process at around the same time… Gonna have to see how it goes
January 17, 2020 at 21:01
Good jump for EU..!
January 17, 2020 at 20:48
Thank you for doing all this work for us Brit.
January 17, 2020 at 20:58
Thank you Mr. Simon for the updates . I think AF is still moving normally even with less numbers added for the last two VB . We hope to see higher jump in the coming months . EU got a boost this month and AS number looks shocking , or maybe this just what I think . Good luck to all those who are current , and good luck to us , too , the wait and see team . Lol
January 18, 2020 at 04:14
I am uploading a video explanation now…
January 17, 2020 at 20:33
Thanks sir for your quick notify update
January 17, 2020 at 20:24
Why Asia region a small jump? Please tell us
January 17, 2020 at 20:26
Backlog of cases with documents submitted took the majority of interview places. But AS is progressing well – No need to worry.
January 18, 2020 at 00:38
yup, we are now expecting 2NL email because our case AS11*** and document confrimation email was received in early Dec, 2019. Just to check with you one thing sir, is it fine if we keep checking the interview date from dv enterace site? I read from somewhere in your website that 2NL is nothing just to inform us to check the date from the website. So, as long as we are checking the website regularly, it should be fine, right? because somethings we could miss the email
January 18, 2020 at 04:24
You can check the ESC page if you want.
January 17, 2020 at 20:18
Dear Brit,
i am EU16k , dox and ds250 submitet in november, till now no response from kcc regarding the documents. do i expect any 2nl this month?
Regards
January 17, 2020 at 20:22
Maybe. It depends whether they processed your documents or not. You can ask them, or just wait to be informed.
January 17, 2020 at 20:32
I asked to them 1 week ago and they reply:
hank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
For February, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2020 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number: etc etc
January 19, 2020 at 18:58
Dear Brit,
Sorry for disturbing you again.
Please can you advice what to do further.
Kindly regards

Hello,
I’ve the same problem, documents submitted on October, they send me the same email when I try to ask.
But I’ve they confirmation when I sent the documents that my they have been received and are processing and will get back to me if it’s okay or not.
I’ll like to know if there is a problem by submitting them one more time?
Please brit help us to know.

If it has been a few weeks since you sent the documents, you can ask them if they are satisfied with the documents.
