The VB was late again, so this is continuing the new pattern. This exact pattern has been the case for four months running – so we should now expect the same timing – VB around the 17th/18th of the month .
Nice big jumps in the regions, especially EU which is as I expected – so that should calm a few people down.
|Region||All DV Chargeability Areas Except|
Those Listed Separately
|AFRICA||31,500||Except: Egypt 22,000|
|ASIA||12,500||Except: Iran 7,600|
|NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS)||9|
and the CARIBBEAN
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month (although more recently it has been published a few days later – around the 17th/18th), and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hello. I am going to the interview woth Johannesburg consulate together with my Spouse in March. I was the DV applicant, and I have informed the Consulate that I got married in December 2019. They responded and requested some additional information.
My question is, wilk I need any Affidavit of Support for my spouse? I am likely to have an employment offer letter, but not my spouse. Will this be a problem? What should we provide to show that my husband is unlikely to become a public charge?
February 11, 2020 at 19:15
An I-134 for the principal applicant covers the derivatives as well.
February 11, 2020 at 19:20
But I do not have any sponsor to complete this Affidavit. I have bank statements as proof of savings and an employment offer letter. Is this sufficient for both of us? What amount should I prove to have in my bank statement to cover my spouse and myself?

I m pretty sure that my case will be current next week and I want to know all the things that has to be done. Thank you and have a good evening.

Hello. I am the principal applicant of the Dav lottery program, and my husband is my derivative. If I get the Visa this year, will my husband be allowed to work in the US?
February 14, 2020 at 19:45
February 14, 2020 at 11:21
Awaiting your response. Thank you! Please also tell me how the I-134 should be filed. Does it need to be filed on the USCIS or does the applicant only need to bring it with them? Please confirm as the instructions on the USCIS is unclear. Thank you
February 14, 2020 at 19:46
The sponsor downloads and completes the I-134 then scans and emails it with supporting documents to you. You then present it at the interview if asked.
Always check the FAQ.
February 15, 2020 at 15:21
I am the derivative of my wife as she has been selected for the DV lottery and our interview is scheduled for next month. I have lost my vaccination record. However, my wife, as principal applicant, has hers. What do you recommend that I do given that I have no records of my vaccinations?
February 15, 2020 at 16:28
That doesn’t matter. The physician will decide what is needed at the medical.
February 19, 2020 at 07:20
Thanks for your response above #711***
We shall hope the months become current sooner…
1. Can we change sponsor/host at the time of the interview here in AF and provide I -134 for the new sponsor.
2. If not can we arrive to a new host port of arrival and explain to US Immigratiin on arrival
February 19, 2020 at 18:00
2. No one cares at that point.
February 21, 2020 at 14:36
Thanks!!! You are the best. I keep searching and reading your blogs. I stay positive AF #71***

Hi Brit I just received this email from kkc Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.I which to ask the following
1,can I email or contac my embassy about my 2nl or interview letter
February 18, 2020 at 20:31
You have been reading my site since MAy of last year and have posted almost 50 questions. It is AMAZING to me that you don’t know what this email means!!! I would have though you would have read the FAQ by now. Really.
The email means you will get your 2NL in the next 10 days. No need to contact anyone.
Now read the darn FAQ!!!!!!
February 24, 2020 at 07:10

February 28, 2020 at 21:47
Hello. In my DS 260 form, in ”Course of Study”, I incorrectly wrote the list of subjects which I was taught at school, instead of mentioning ‘Academic’ or ‘Vocational’. How material do you think this error is? Should I be sending an email to inform the Consulate abt that, or can I just speak to them about this issue in the interview? Grateful for your kind views please.
February 28, 2020 at 23:08
Not a big problem.
February 29, 2020 at 07:22
So no need to send an email or tell them in the interview then? Thank you Brit
March 1, 2020 at 21:15
February 28, 2020 at 21:53
My wife, as principal applicant, has registered our appointment for the interview with the US General Consulate in Johannesburg. The issue is that she has written her forename and surname only, and not all her given names as per what is written on her passport.
For eg her full name on her passport is X, A B C. In the Interview registration, she has written only C X as name and surname (omitting A and B). But all other details match.
Would that be an issue? She can’t edit it, as to edit names, they require the appointment to be cancelled and rescheduled. Rescheduling for the same date is almost impossible. So not a feasible solution. Is this discrepancy in the name material in your view?

I m a 2020 dv lottery winner and my number is current for April. It AF37****I have submitted all my documents and kcca said they have them. I haven’t received my 2NL. I called kcca and they told my that since I m doing an adjustment of status I will not receive any letter from them but I should contact uscis. I called USCIS and they told me to contact the department of state. I called the department of state and it’s seems that they don’t know about 2NL but they told me to contact kcca.So can I know whom should I contact about what should I do next. Thank you.
March 2, 2020 at 21:45
I am shocked that you still seem so clueless about how to process your case. I gave you a link previously (shon below). It is ESSENTIAL you click it and learn about AOS processing. If you don’t take this seriously you will ruin your chance.
March 2, 2020 at 21:57
Thank you for responding so fast Brit. Actually I m confused about the 2NL letter. Is that true that those who are doing adjustment of status does not receive the 2NL letter. And if so can I go ahead and pay the visa fees. Thank you.
March 2, 2020 at 22:24
You are far more confused tha you realize. Go to the link I already gave you and study well.
March 2, 2020 at 22:26
Ok thank you
March 2, 2020 at 22:43
Ok Brit I just finished reading the AOS spreadsheet carefully. Thank you for your help. The way I understood your explanation is that KCCA will say that they will not send the 2nl when we call them but they will eventually send it at the end. Does that means that I can proceed with my fee payment and my AOS package. Thank you.
March 2, 2020 at 23:14
Kcc have almost no role in AOS cases.
March 16, 2020 at 10:55
