This is for October interviews and is the first VB for the DV2019 year.
We can see the numbers have started low. No need to panic – that is somewhat normal. I suspect they are giving themselves time to handle the last minute craziness of DV2018 before spending a lot of energy and resources on DV2019 interviews. Also, remember they divide the work over the whole year – so there is a increase in these numbers each month.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. But given the low numbers that may not be necessary.
For DV2018 winners – remember this VB is NOTHING to do with your numbers – this is just DV2019. There is a repeat of the September interviews numbers, but as expected, there is no change to those numbers. There are NO further numbers being released for DV2018.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

There is nothing that can be done. The lottery process for each year ends on September 30th. A DV2018 winner cannot get approved after that date.

hi Simon
i unlocked my ds260 to add my wife’s details because i submited i
the form before maarying and ve completed it but i see “Add A pplicant” on the ds260 form before you open. am i to enter again her details or ones added in my filling of ds260 form, its not needed and if i may know its purpose?
thank u
September 26, 2018 at 23:28
When someone marries during the process, they may want to emigrate with their new spouse. Each person that wishes to emigrate needs their own DS260. So – marrying often means
1. Adding the spouse the the winners own DS260
2. Adding a DS260 for the new spouse (using “add applicant”)
September 24, 2018 at 19:24
I made mistakes in ds -260 will i get chance to edit it?
My sponsor changed her address and i have also made mistake in my own address. Will it cause problems?
September 24, 2018 at 20:29
You would normally be able to edit that before or at the interview.
September 24, 2018 at 20:45
Thank you brit.?
September 24, 2018 at 18:41
I have observed that some embassy get the information on the online date earlier than others. So do u know of any embassy that has the online registration date for dv2020 ??
September 24, 2018 at 20:27
Someone posted it was on an embassy website as Oct 3 to Nov 6, but I haven’t seen it yet. The dates sound “reasonable”.
September 24, 2018 at 18:38
Is the dv2020 online registration date out yet ???
September 23, 2018 at 08:30
Hi Simon, During the initial application I added her as my wife and I want to fill the ds yet its only me who reflect as the principal applicant instead of us two.I do I go about this?
September 23, 2018 at 15:22
The person selected completes the DS260, and adds DS260s for derivatives wishing to emigrate.
September 22, 2018 at 16:40
Hi Brit, Is there away I can know whether I filled single or married during my initial application before filing my ds?
September 22, 2018 at 17:12
No. That is why ALWAYS telling the truth is important…
September 19, 2018 at 15:21
Dear Brit ,
Our case number is 2019AF00010XXX. I had filled the form for my self as principal applicant . Before sending it showed validation error . I stoped sending it and i continued filling my spouse as beneficiary. Due to internet problem i can’t finished same day. The next day when i opened the form it says my case number is currently not available . I had contacted KCC and they replied they are aware of the problem and trying to solve it . Once there is any information available they will be in touch . But 15 days passed away . What i have to do then ? Is this problem happened since i have opened it repeatedly ? Is this problem happened because of i fill the form wrong ? Please clarify !!!
September 19, 2018 at 16:01
Contact KCC again.

September 8, 2018 at 14:07
Hi Brit, I have very clear what the documents required are and all ready to be submitted the day of the interview, however there is one question I would like to ask you after reading lots of comments in different post but nothing related to this: as Venezuela citizen, we are facing huge delays on our passports renewals and extensions, we are expecting to be interviewing not later than December as per our case number, by that time our daughter’s passport will have 5 months validity and almost impossible to received a new passport or extension before December. I have read that passport should have a validity of 6 months after the day you plan to enter to US. Our interview will be in Abu Dhabi. Do you think that can cause a problem to get the visa stamped (if granted). We plan to enter by Jan or Feb. Thanks for you dedication on this blog. Every post and comment are very useful and appreciated.
September 8, 2018 at 14:28
They will grant the visa even if the passport validity isn’t enough. However, you would be wise to then enter the USA with the old and new passports.

August 30, 2018 at 16:27
Hi Brit. Receive 2nl today. However the interview is set in Marocco which is extremely diffixult to get the visa to for my nationality. I have asked for Tunisia when i filled the DS 260. Any recommendation how this can be fixed? Thanks in advance

I jave found an answer in the FAQ – however i would apprecoate any addition you may have. Thanks
August 30, 2018 at 18:26
The FAQ covers it.
FYI, the interview location would have been chosen based on your current address.
