This is for October interviews and is the first VB for the DV2019 year.
We can see the numbers have started low. No need to panic – that is somewhat normal. I suspect they are giving themselves time to handle the last minute craziness of DV2018 before spending a lot of energy and resources on DV2019 interviews. Also, remember they divide the work over the whole year – so there is a increase in these numbers each month.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. But given the low numbers that may not be necessary.
For DV2018 winners – remember this VB is NOTHING to do with your numbers – this is just DV2019. There is a repeat of the September interviews numbers, but as expected, there is no change to those numbers. There are NO further numbers being released for DV2018.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

You are a good person …very inteligent
August 13, 2018 at 10:31
Dear Simon,
May i know, when will we receive the Green Card after we online pay the service fee (220 USD). Do we need to pay before we flight to USA to urge our green card status?
August 13, 2018 at 15:19
The GC takes a few weeks and up to 4 months to arrive. Paying before flying seems to speed up that process.
August 14, 2018 at 16:38
Hello, I would like to know is this $220 (USCIS Immigrant Fee) paid per person or a family?
August 14, 2018 at 17:08
Per person.
August 13, 2018 at 20:13
Brit simon hello
My question is, should the sponsor be the exact person where I wrote where will my GC be sent to? Or it can be another sponsor ?
August 14, 2018 at 04:07
It can be a different person.
August 13, 2018 at 21:32

No problem – leave it as is.
August 14, 2018 at 10:30

August 14, 2018 at 02:57

August 14, 2018 at 15:29
Hi Brit, why Iran still there? I thought ban been taken into effect?
August 14, 2018 at 15:31
People from Iran are entitled to interviews. If they have dual citizenship, they can be approved.
August 14, 2018 at 15:36
I submitted my DS260 end of July, case number below 2000 (EU). Is there a chance to already receive a 2NL or will KCC usually take longer do process DS260?

Wait and see.

Hi Brit. This link ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lfk8ZqqH9M ) is about President Trump’s new reform plans on US immigration system including DV lottery. Will these events have an impact in near future on DV lottery system? To be specific, will it have any impact on DV2019 process? Thanks Brit.
August 15, 2018 at 05:51
Read the basic questions article.
August 15, 2018 at 09:39
Good morning Mr Simon.
Please my question is when case is at AP doe to additional requirement and when completed it will remain at AP or it will change to the another 2018 selectee.
Thank you.
August 15, 2018 at 14:32
I don’t understand your question.
August 15, 2018 at 14:22
Hi Brit, I would like to know if it can be possible to fill the Ds260 for those who are married without sending their marriage certificate’s scanned copy?It can work?
August 15, 2018 at 14:26
Yes, the form has been changed to not require the marriage cert to be uploaded.
August 15, 2018 at 15:14
hello, my name is stephanie. My mom was born in Angola in 1971 was colony of Portugal. the passport given place of birth (angola) and nationality (Portuguese). In the ds260 place Nationality (Portuguese) and city (angola) but in the birth certificate says city (Luachimo) colony (angola) but in the ds-260 could not place colony.
Do you think they deny it?
thanks
August 15, 2018 at 15:24
You asked, and I answered already.
I assume from what you said before that your mother has a case number starting 2018EUXXXX. Is that correct? If so – denial is certain because Angola is in AF region, and your mother was in the wrong lottery draw.
The instructions are very clear – entry should be based on birthplace, not citizenship.
Now – there could be one possibility. Was she married at the time of entry to someone born in EU region?
August 15, 2018 at 17:10
Brit, my mom does not have any angola document, nor citizenship, nor passport. At the time she was born, it was a Portuguese colony, (If I had put AF I would be asked for their proper documents and she does not have anything from that country) it is quite complicated
August 15, 2018 at 17:34
It’s not complicated at all. She did not follow the very clear rules. Continuing the process would be a waste of money and time.
August 17, 2018 at 17:14
good afternoon, brit or by the nationality of their Portuguese parents have a chance?
August 17, 2018 at 19:38
A person can charge to their parents country IF their birth country is ineligible, and the parents were there temporarily. As Angola is eligible, that scenario does not apply.
August 15, 2018 at 17:54
Hello sir,
First I want to thank you for the time you spend with questions that people ask here.
I would like to ask for a problem with my DS-260.
I am the main applicant of the dv lottery 2019 and the only one ( don’t have derivates). After submission, I realised that in my DS-260, I had done a mistake.
I have chosen mother’s country wrong. In your opinion, can I correct it in the interview and do you think it will affect my visa approval?
Thanks in advance
August 16, 2018 at 01:04
What do you mean by that exactly?
August 16, 2018 at 05:40
In DS-260, at mother’s details section, I have chosen the wrong country. This has happened because the country I chose is next to the right country I had to chose in the list of countries. But I have put the right city of birth of my mother. The problem of country was because of drop-down list.
What do you think? Thanks
August 16, 2018 at 15:20
It doesn’t matter.
August 16, 2018 at 16:01
Thank you 🙂

Hi Brit,
I follow your blog closely and find it extremely useful. Thanks a lot for gathering all the DV info. Best source for DV!
August 18, 2018 at 03:48
Hi Brit,
I have finished submit ds260 last July. But I can’t find any document upload section. Is there no need to upload documents or do I missing something here?
Thank you.
August 18, 2018 at 05:22
In your case, nothing to upload.
August 18, 2018 at 08:16
Thanks Brit..!
Anyway is it fine if I with my spouse apply again for dv2020 this October? I am a dv2019 selectee but quiet high number AS14xxx. So I am considering to reapply for dv2020.

August 18, 2018 at 11:46
Hi Simon, I have a question please.
I am in the process of preparing my support documents for the interview. I checked the https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected/diversity-visa-prepare-supporting-documents.html website and my question is related to education requirements.
I have a Bachelor, Masters and a PhD. Do I still have to provide my high school diploma ? or do we provide only the highest diploma ?
I live in another country than the one where I did my high school, and not sure I can get it.
Thanks a lot and sorry if the question was already asked.
Cheers
August 18, 2018 at 14:26
Yes you prove all your education.
August 19, 2018 at 23:15
Thanks.
Do you know if this corresponds to the official secondary high school diploma (issued by the state after success in the official exams) ? or the one issued by my high school (private school in my case) ?
I know maybe the question is too specific to my case, but any input is helpful.
Thanks a lot!
August 20, 2018 at 00:30
“you prove all your education”
August 27, 2018 at 09:01
Hi, Mr Simon,
My process finished and I and my family got our DV visas. Thanks for helps during the process.
Only to help Mr/Mrs Kassem’s entry,
I have also Bachelor and Master Degree. At Interview they only wanted the last school’s document.
I showed them only Master Degree Diploma.
High school diploma is minimum requirement.
Thanks again.
August 27, 2018 at 13:55
Yes – but all COs are different, so people should take all documents.
August 18, 2018 at 15:06

August 20, 2018 at 06:32
Even if he has not Italian citizenship?
August 20, 2018 at 14:17
It has nothing to do with citizenship.
August 18, 2018 at 15:59
Hi BRIT,
Thank you for your afforts. I am DV2019 selectee, and I want to know if is it safe to quit my job without any prior notice after having visa? because they can’t let me leave the job without fulfilling the employment contract.
Thank you,
August 18, 2018 at 16:32
That has nothing to do with the visa.
August 19, 2018 at 16:47
Hi Brit,

Hello. Can you please tell me will a dv lottery winner be disqualified if he has psoriasis? (VERY LIGHT FORM) it is a skin condition disease and does not transfer to another person. And should he mention this disease during medical check? Will he be disqualified if not mentioned it?

August 20, 2018 at 10:28
Dear Simon,
How are you? I travelled to NY to do my activation trip, my visa was indeed validated there (an ‘accepted’ mention was stamped on my temporary visa) but not any additional information was given to me at the airport. Is there anything I should do next? Or just waiting patiently for a few months for my friend in SF to receive my green card? Thanks a lot
Best
Camille

August 21, 2018 at 00:52
Hi brit I have two problems
(1) My last name was missed spell during my DV entry, the letter “Y” was mistakenly placed at the end of my last name; (2) my middle name that is on my birth certificate and I played my lottery with, is not on my school document.
Should I correct it on my ds260 form or there will be any problem?
August 21, 2018 at 03:17
Your DS260 must have the accurate names. Other than that, no problem.
August 21, 2018 at 14:43

August 22, 2018 at 02:03
Hi Mr Brit
I hope you’re doing well !
I am coming to you with this question:
I was at interview last week the CO give the paper for AP for additional information .
She want to found out if is me my High school document and my degree of university (bachelor) if they are original or true document? .
*Please this AP can take longer because the DV year is end on 30 September ?
*May I know she told that “she is confused ” because I am working plumber but I am having bachelor ?
I am South Africa like a refugee an asylum seeker and there is longer process for us to back to school because paper first and you have to work hard for you to your schools fees .
My last question is May you help me with idea according to the Case.
Thanks a lot and sorry if the question already ask .
*
August 22, 2018 at 02:50
1. I don’t know how long that verification will take, but if not completed by September 30th your case cannot be approved.
2. I don’t understand your second question.
All I can suggest is that you wait and hope.
August 22, 2018 at 07:24
Thanks a lot Sir

August 24, 2018 at 08:56
Hi Brit! I am going to be interviewed in September 19th but I come to see that I made a mistake in my Ds260 where they asked if I have a secondary level of education or above I answered by “No” instead of Yes. can this cause a denial of visa when I go with my secondary degree and a university degree in my interview and try to explain them the mistake done ? as you can see it’s too late to correct my Ds260 .what can I do?
August 24, 2018 at 14:08
You will have to explain at the interview – but take all documents of secondary education, including degrees.
August 24, 2018 at 17:47
when will we see 2NL?
August 24, 2018 at 21:01
READ. THE. ARTICLE.
August 25, 2018 at 08:58
My interview is scheduled for september 14th. I checked many times and I thought it was OK but now I realized that when I filled ds260 In education section I put in NAME INSTITUTION correct name school, correct address and correct zip but wrong CITY. City next to my hometown, not city when I graduated school (do not why ://). My mistake.
Is possible to unlock ds260 now or better explain while interview? I want to avoid AP cause will be very late.
August 25, 2018 at 16:24
You cannot unlock now. This won’t cause a problem.
August 25, 2018 at 17:00
thank you again for answer, what would we do without you? u r amazing Simon!
August 26, 2018 at 08:51
Hi dear Brit
I have been randomly selected for dv 2019. but, the age in my primary school living certificate ( grade 8) does’t much with my correct age in my dv application. The age in all other documents including my passport and birth certificate are the same with my application.
1) Does it matter in my interview?
2) Is that mandatory taking that primary school living certificate in my interview date?
August 26, 2018 at 15:29
1. Maybe.
2. You need to show high school certificates.
August 26, 2018 at 15:50
Hi Brit,
My appreciation for your endless hard work.
Inquiry please:
I have received the below documents from my sponsor as a single Applicant.
1. Affidavit of support form with two most recent tax transcripts – December 31, 2016 and December 31, 2017
2. Income Tax Returns – 2015 -2017
3. W-2 Detail Report – 2015
4. 1099-R Detail Report 2015
Question: Do I need additional documents apart from list above from my sponsor?
My interview is next month.
Thanks.
August 26, 2018 at 16:15
Recent payslips (2018 income) and photo ID.
August 26, 2018 at 20:31
Hi Brit, does KCC compare previous ds-260 case with new unlocked case? I mean,do they monitor or save all ds 260 forms ( accidentally false ones etc.)
August 26, 2018 at 20:53
They have the ability to track changes, yes.
August 27, 2018 at 16:26
.
August 27, 2018 at 16:45
Questions should be posted in English.
You can enter future lotteries. In ALL cases, simply enter the truth at the time of entry.
August 28, 2018 at 03:07
Hi BritSimon,
I’ve requested KCC to unlock (for a second time)my brother’s ds-260 and their reply was “We are unable to process your request to unlock the DS-260 for case
number 2019AF00025xxx. You will have an opportunity to make any
necessary changes to your DS-260 after your initial Diversity Visa
interview at a United States Embassy or Consulate…”. Does this mean his case has been processed or It simply indicates that only one unlock request is allowed?
P.S: I can’t access to his case on ceac ( The Case Number entered is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact the Kentucky Consular Center…)
Thanks
August 28, 2018 at 04:43
Look. It is going to be **MONTHS** before his case is current. Stop stressing – and exercise some patience!
August 28, 2018 at 10:00
To all single parent family do not forget to carry an affidavit showing consent of the parent. When you’ve taken care of a child since day 1 such kind of things escape you.I had the affidavit drawn and i sent it to the embassy.I thank God after 6 weeks of AP,the ceac reads issued.Africa
