The Visa bulletin was just released. It shows all regions and countries are still current as they were last month – no retrogression which is a relief. This is the final VB for the DV2022 year. It does not show VB numbers for DV2023 October interviews, that will come next month.
However this Visa Bulletin also gives us the numbers of selectees per country for DV2023, and the total number of selectees (119,262). That is an important piece of information we have been waiting for. I am somewhat surprised and pleased that the selectee numbers are not higher than DV2022. I have been hearing some very high case numbers and that made me concerned that we had a very high selectee year, but that does not seem to be the case. I will follow up with a video later today about what this means.
Here is the DV2023 information from the VB.
D. DIVERSITY VISA LOTTERY 2023 (DV-2023) RESULTS
The Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky has registered and notified the selectees who are eligible to participate in the DV-2023 Diversity Visa (DV) program. Random selection of DV participants was conducted under the terms of section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which makes up to *55,000 permanent resident visas available annually to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. Approximately 119,262 prospective applicants (i.e., selectees and their spouses and children) have been registered, notified, and may be eligible to make an application for an immigrant visa. Since selection is blind to the number of family members who might immigrate with the selectee, and it is likely that some of the selectees will not complete their cases or will be found ineligible for a visa, this larger figure should ensure that all DV-2023 numbers can be used during fiscal year 2023 (October 1, 2022, until September 30, 2023).
Entrants registered for the DV-2023 program were selected at random from 9,570,291 qualified entries received during the 35-day application period that ran from noon, Eastern Daylight Time on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, until noon, Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. The visas have been apportioned among six geographic regions with a maximum of seven percent available to persons born in any single country. During the visa interview, principal applicants must provide proof of a high school education or its equivalent, or show two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience within the past five years. Those selected will need to act on their immigrant visa applications quickly. Applicants should follow the instructions in their notification letter and must fully complete all required steps.
Selectees who are physically present with legal status in the United States may apply to adjust their status by first contacting the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for information on the requirements and procedures. Once the total *55,000 visa numbers have been used, the program for fiscal year 2023 will end. Selectees who do not receive visas by September 30, 2023, will derive no further benefit from their DV-2023 registration. Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join DV-2023 principal applicants are only entitled to derivative DV status until September 30, 2023.
Dates for the DV-2024 program registration period will be widely publicized in the coming months. Those interested in entering the DV-2024 program should check the Department of State’s Diversity Visa web page in the coming months.
*The Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) passed by Congress in November 1997 stipulated that up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually-allocated diversity visas be made available for use under the NACARA program. This will result in reduction of the DV-2023 annual limit to approximately 54,850.

My Case number is 2022AF00049268
The below is the part of the email from KCC. Do you think that I will get an interview at Khartoum Embassy?
From KCC reply email on 27 August:
“Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
We are sorry to hear about the death of your child. We have made a note of this information in our records, which will be available to the consular section when the case is scheduled for interview. We hope that it is helpful to you to know that because your child will not apply for a visa with the rest of the family”
End of KCC reply.
For you information, I have submitted DS-260 on 6 April.
Till this moment I have not receive and notification for the interview.
Please provide you comment.
September 5, 2022 at 20:38
It is unlikely you will receive an interview if you have not received it by now.
August 9, 2022 at 12:12
Hi Brit, thank you for your updates. I am Dv 2023AF2*** . How can I know if my case is Current for October interview?
August 12, 2022 at 00:01
Your number is current. As to whether you are processed or not, you could email KCC and ask.
August 5, 2022 at 22:30
Hi Brit,
Just an update to share.
I’m DV2022OC25** and my interview has been scheduled for September in Sydney.
So it looks like Sydney reopened and hit the ground running!
August 6, 2022 at 17:20
Yes they have taken some cases in July and August. They finally woke up at the end! Glad you got your interview.
August 5, 2022 at 20:57
Good day Simon
Can you help me for this question please I’m winner my casse 2022Af24978 already passed my interview in Johannesburg consulate 19th May me and my family with give everything except 2 passport for my daughter’s still delayed to my country until now passport didn’t come yet, what you think I can do because my Ambassy still tel him me I must wait so I’m worrying next month end 2022, only my passport and my wife with it in USA consulate
August 6, 2022 at 17:16
I would be asking the consulate to issue the visas for you and your wife asap. There is a chance that visas will run out. If you and your wife at least have the visas, at least you could bring your daughter later via family based sponsorship.

August 1, 2022 at 10:55
You think there be submission of documents to KCC for DV 2023?
Because till now, we are yet to get information from KCC on documents submission.
August 2, 2022 at 12:44
I don’t think so – we will know in about 2 weeks when they start scheduling 2023 cases.
July 27, 2022 at 09:55
Hi Brit..
Ghana .2022AF27XXX . can you please throw light on why our embassy is still not working at full capacity???
From September 2021 to date 100 cases..
July 29, 2022 at 11:51
They decided to discriminate against DV. I don’t know why.
July 25, 2022 at 07:15
Hullo Brit; do you think they have started processing DV 2023 cases
July 25, 2022 at 14:41
Yes they have processed DS260s for DV2023 cases, but of course, no interviews yet.
July 23, 2022 at 21:20
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2023AS15600.
Should I forget about the visa or is there still a chance?
I am so disappointed in being accepted regarding my high case number.
July 25, 2022 at 14:35
You will need to wait and see.
July 23, 2022 at 09:02
Hi brit,
I’m a selectee 2023Af***** with my husband and three children but during the entry I was pregnant, can I add that child to her case? Secondly, I don’t have the financial support to sponsor everyone for the interview, please I need your advice on this issue.
July 25, 2022 at 14:31
Yes you can add the child. As for the financial support – I don’t have any helpful advice as I don’t know your situation.
July 20, 2022 at 21:40
Hi BritSimon, I have been lucky enough to win the 2023 DV lottery after two previous attempts and being now in my mid 50s. I’m living in the UK, but my chargeability country is Spain. We are a family of four, and at the time of winning, because we are dual British/Spanish citizens, my children just had their UK passports, so we waited until July to visit Spain and get their Spanish passports and include them in the DS-260 which was submitted on the 11th. Our case number is EU18xxx, which comparing with previous years should be current by the spring, but because the two month delay in submitting DS-260, I’m wondering if there is a serious risk we’ll miss our chance. Thank you and keep the good work.
July 25, 2022 at 14:22
No problem with the delay. This process is about waiting anyway.
I assume you were charged to Spain through marriage? I’m just asking to make sure you were entitled to do so.
July 27, 2022 at 10:06
Thanks Simon. Chargeability was based on our place of birth. We both were born in Spain although moved to the UK years ago and have now UK passports, but yes, entry was based on our place of birth. Hope you’ve had a nice stay in Madrid.
July 29, 2022 at 11:52
Great!
Yeah – I do love Spain – still here, it’s been great.
July 20, 2022 at 09:06
Cn 14k , cairo Egypt
Submitted ds 16/6/2021
Ready for interview now , received ds completion notification about 2.5 months ago
What’s the odds for my cn ?
Thanks for your help
July 25, 2022 at 14:10
I can’t guess that.
July 19, 2022 at 17:39
Hi Britt, I have been following you for several years and admire your commitment to the DV lottery. Unfortunately never won, but you never know.
Still, as a European, there’s something I’ve wondered about from the start. Is there a reason why America counts several countries that are geographically part of Asia under Europe? And would this make a difference to the chances of winning for the other Europeans if these countries were counted under Asia?
July 25, 2022 at 14:00
It’s an interesting question based on an old geo political view. Yes a change would make a difference, but it won’t happen, so I won’t go into the math.
July 18, 2022 at 11:57
Hi Brit
I am a winner of DV 2023 with CN 2023AF34k.
Is it also lawful to apply for the upcoming DV 2024 program with my same information?
Will it post problem for me?
I need your sincere advice.
July 25, 2022 at 12:29
No problem.
July 15, 2022 at 21:00
Hi Brit, I’m in Ghana and my case number is 2023AF49****** do I stand an opportunity being interviewed.
July 25, 2022 at 10:13
Maybe – it is too soon to know how things will go for DV2023 and Ghana.
July 15, 2022 at 08:43
Hi Brit. Thanks for guiding lot of people. I have a question, that I am a DV 2022 AS25*** selectee and my case is still in KCC. Please guide me in current scenario that the data you have shared regarding embassies, I am afraid that I will be stuck due to lot of cases pending in Islamabad. I am in Hungary as a student, should I move my case to Budapest as there are few cases there so as to increase my chances to be interviewed. But the only worry in this case is that my family WIFE AND 3 KIDS wouldn’t be able to accompany me in Budapest. And will it make any difference if I give interview alone. What would u suggest should I request KCC to transfer my case rather to left out.
Regards,
BAIG
July 15, 2022 at 16:00
There is very little time left, and KCC have been reluctant to move any cases once they are in the AV status (when they send emails that say “current for interview processing”). So the reality is you are probably stuck at Islamabad. If you were able to move the case, you could at least get the visa yourself and then later sponsor your family, but that would take several years. So you don’t have great options…
July 14, 2022 at 15:50
Hi Brit
On my High school documents and West African Examination Council ((WAEC) certificate, my middle name is not spill out ( Derick M Kofi) but on my birth certificate, marriage certificate and passport, my middle is spill out as (Derick Mayor Kofi)
Will this post a problem for me?
July 15, 2022 at 04:42
No
July 13, 2022 at 17:02
Hi Brit! From Argentina again, no news yet, at this point you think I need to contact a lawyer , or wait this month ? We are few cases in Argentina . Most of the interviews were Venezonals in Buenos Aires
July 15, 2022 at 04:31
I don’t think a lawyer would help. I think you will just have to hope.
July 13, 2022 at 11:40
Hello
Since the publication of the VB of August, there was few 2nl sent. They done with dv22?
July 15, 2022 at 04:17
We have to wait and see.
July 13, 2022 at 08:31
Hi Simon! I want to thank you for your advice during the process. Yesterday I pass the interview and obtained the green card visa for me and my family at US Embassy Bucharest as a Romanian citizen. I was scheduled first time in April and receive the 2nl far before my number became current. I reschedule it for July and all was ok. Thanks alot!
July 15, 2022 at 04:15
Congratulations!
July 13, 2022 at 07:34
Hello Sir,you just give an important update about embassies and queues,I wish to find out if one can know the situation of Yaounde,Cameroon.I am 2022af 59××× .Thanks
July 15, 2022 at 04:15
It had 296 cases in the queue.
July 12, 2022 at 09:34
Hi Brit, Thank you taking time to guide the DV winners.
After DS 260 submission, will there be any acknowledgement email from KCC stating that the submission received?
Hope to hear from you.Thank you so much
July 15, 2022 at 03:57
Typically yes, but no problem if you don’t get it.
July 12, 2022 at 06:13
Hi Brit I’m a selectee from Africa with case case number 2023AF7ksomething.
I filled in and submitted the ds 260 in May. I got a notification immediately that I have successfully submitted my form. But since then I can’t log in again at the status entrant check it doesn’t bring the option of me filling my name. I also tried the CEAC portals and I keeps telling me invalid case number yet I have typed it correctly.how can I go about it
July 15, 2022 at 03:57
CEAC status check won’t work yet. For the DS260, drop the leading zeros.
July 11, 2022 at 15:18
Hi Brit, I was born and I live in Argentina but since my Family is from Italy, I have both citizenships.
I applied as an Italian, and the case number is 2023EU73xx.
Do you think have any chance to be successful in the process?
I’ve already submited the DS-260.
Thanks in advance!
July 15, 2022 at 03:31
If that was your only justification, then no, you have no chance. You were instructed to give place of birth.
July 10, 2022 at 19:45
Hello sir am from Africa and my case number is AF 16xx I wish to know if this case number is a low one or not because am from Cameroon and it shows about 2392 people were selected. It’s quit confusing for I don’t understand what is written above pls can you explain further maybe in a video
July 10, 2022 at 23:39
Yes it is low.
July 10, 2022 at 11:13
Hullo Brit AF111xx. is it a good number
July 10, 2022 at 23:36
Probably.
July 14, 2022 at 02:17
Hey Brit
I am from Nepal and my case number starts as 2023AS3153. I hope this case number has never been denied an interview up till now. Also, what is the highest case number for the AS region?
July 15, 2022 at 04:32
Your number is fine.
I don’t know.
July 9, 2022 at 23:39
Sir,
Do you think there is a second draw for October?
July 10, 2022 at 15:53
In any case in September or end of August, by the month of October DV 2024 will be starting in its first days.
July 10, 2022 at 23:34
No
July 9, 2022 at 09:52
Hello Brit, let me please share my situation with you, maybe you can assist me with some advice.
I’m from Argentina, my case number is 2023SA000005XX, I am currently living in Qatar and I’m not coming back to Argentina till January 2023.
The thing is, I don’t want to fill my DS260 form yet, beacause I want to include my girlfiend in it. Of course for that we should marry first, but we can’t do it until we get back to Argentina early next year.
My question is, is it a bad thing to fill my DS260 that late in the process? Or actually it would be fine? Also regarding that there is 3515 selectees in my region and I’m assuming my case number is relatively low.
Being only 133 selectees from Argentina tell me that I shouldn’t be worry beacuse te Embassy probably would handle all the cases in the fiscal year, but I’m not sure. Again, what it’s your guess or thoughts on the situation?
Thanks in advance!
July 10, 2022 at 23:30
You can delay abit but not much later than January/February.
July 9, 2022 at 05:41
Hi Brit. VB Aug is published so based on this knowledge can you pls explain the deeper meaning of the announcement? What does this 119k selectees mean now for us ( 2023EU30K), how many holes and if 23 will be running tight and if you can say what month higher number could have interviews.. aloha

How do I determine the number of cases ahead of me in my country?
My CN is AF34K

A number without a year is useless.

July 9, 2022 at 00:47
Hi Brit
An inquiry!!
Why submitting the DS260, is it only the principal applicant passport number that will be used to submit for all his derivatives?
Or the submission can be done using their own passport numbers for their own DS260s?
July 10, 2022 at 23:28
Ideally each person lists their own passport.
July 15, 2022 at 19:41
Do kids need to list their passports?
July 25, 2022 at 10:08
Ye, although the DS260 can be submitted using other ID or even the passport number of one of the parents if necessary.
July 9, 2022 at 00:22
This is a bit confusing, maybe you can explain it in your video. So my number is around the OC2500 mark, but there are 461 applicants they will select from AU. So would I need 2,039 applicants before me to be disqualified (for whatever reason) to get an interview? This doesn’t sound right but I am no expert.
A NZ applicant mentioned on another forum his number is OC350 and he has already done his medical and has an interview next month booked. Lies? If true this implies they are not starting at 0001 but the first/start number of 2023 is actually much higher. Sounds like double the number of selectees. For example, NZ has 173 visas assigned but a “low number” is 350.
Thanks.
July 10, 2022 at 23:27
Case numbers are by region, not country. Watch the video below to understand more:
https://youtu.be/MXmfLFWJXD4
The OC350 is probably DV2022
July 8, 2022 at 23:18
Why uzbekistan has too many winners? Doesn’t make sense
July 10, 2022 at 23:26
More entries = more winners.
July 8, 2022 at 18:52
Thanks for the info Simon. 2023 number of selectee quite similar to 2022. What is the highest case number you have heard of in 2023 AF region?
July 10, 2022 at 23:22
Over 80K
July 13, 2022 at 12:05
Simon I just read through this publication of results and I read about NACARA that Congress passed in November 1997, that 55,000 selectee in total for visa but of this 55,000 only 5,000 applicants will will be awarded visa if qualified. I am confused on this sir.
July 15, 2022 at 04:17
Wow, you got confused. 54850 visas are available for DV.
July 21, 2022 at 00:55
Hello Mr. Brit. I would like to know if somebody won a dv lottery twice win in dv2022 with a higher number(AF54xxx) and win in dv2023 with a smaller number( AF2xxx) is there any issue if he fill out ds 260 for the dv 2023 or he has to wait till the dv2022 finished since till now his interview not schedule yet.
July 25, 2022 at 14:23
No problem with completing the DS260 for DV2023 now.
July 8, 2022 at 17:38
Is that number (119262) number of main applicants only or number of main applicants and derivatives ?
July 10, 2022 at 23:21
Applicants and derivatives.
July 8, 2022 at 17:34
Please what about DV2021?
July 10, 2022 at 23:21
Still waiting for the appeal.
August 2, 2022 at 05:57
Hi brit, Kinshasa 2022AF23***, DO YOU THINK I STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET A DATE FOR INTERVIEW?
August 2, 2022 at 12:59
I don’t know.
