Finally we can now see the AWFUL final visa bulletin concerning DV2025. This VB provides early notice of the September 2025 interview eligible numbers. For some unknown reason the government have decided to massively restrict the VB, and thus have made certain to waste thousands of visas. This is truly cruel and wasteful.
I’m sure people will ask me if this can be a mistake, and can it be “corrected”. No – this is what they meant to do.

Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.

Social media question.
Hi Simon,
I have added only my 2 most used social media including Facebook and WhatsApp on my DS-260.
Will it cause problems in DS-260?
September 2, 2025 at 13:48
So I think you are saying that you left off some other social media applications. I don’t think it is wise to decide to show some social media accounts, but not others….
August 23, 2025 at 10:49
Hi Brit Simon,
What I apply for World Cup 2026 volunteer, will it cause problems to my DV case?
August 23, 2025 at 11:19
No
August 19, 2025 at 23:53
August 20, 2025 at 00:04
Please always post in English.
Cases that submitted after early May have generally not been processed, and will probably lose their chance. DV2026 interview scheduling has begun, so getting an interview now is very unlikely, though not completely impossible.
August 20, 2025 at 00:07
The status of the file is on NVC, what does that mean please?
August 20, 2025 at 00:11
Every case starts with that status. It simply means that case is not scheduled.
August 10, 2025 at 07:39
Hi Simon
Can you help me give me the website or link on how to check DV ceac data.
Thanks

Hi Brit Simon,
On your screen or computer 🖥 please could you help and demonstrate to me which Cities are the best to live in USA especially for immigrants and why?
Thanks
August 8, 2025 at 08:45
That’s a very big question – the choice depends a lot of the person and their situation. But in general, don’t go anywhere too cheap, think about what weather you want, what activities, who you know, and so on.
August 8, 2025 at 08:58
Thanks you so much brit, but I will still need a video showing the best Cities to live in USA 🇺🇸. Please do it for me when you have time.
August 4, 2025 at 10:42
Hi Simon, when I applied my DS260 there are 3 of us, me, my wife, and our newly baby born (he was born after we filled in the DV lottery before we got the 1NL). What appear in the 2NL only me and my wife’s name, there is no my baby name. What should I do?
August 4, 2025 at 12:08
That is normal. Assuming you created a DS260 for each of you, just plan to attend the interview together.
July 28, 2025 at 14:23
Hi Brit Simon,
I am DV2026 selectee AF12×××. But when I filled my DS-260, I forget to mention the language. The DS-260 asked me if I can speak and or read language other than my native language? Instead to put English and Arabic, I chose to said No.
Will this mistake cause problems to my DS-260 at KCC?
July 28, 2025 at 14:57
No
July 26, 2025 at 03:04
Hi Brit Simon,
One more question concerning the funding issue.
At the Embassy during interview if they find out I don’t have a enough money to support myself when I arrive in USA, and I also tell them that I have my colleague in the US who is willing to support me for the period of 6 months until I get job.
Can this issue may cause disqualification?
July 26, 2025 at 08:38
Concerns of you becoming a public charge can result in denial, but the fact that you have a plan is in your favor.

July 25, 2025 at 06:27
Hi Simon,
What if I don’t have any vaccinations prove, will they disqualified me during Medical examination at IOM Clinic?
July 25, 2025 at 09:08
No, they would simply administer the needed vaccinations.
July 24, 2025 at 17:32
Hi Britsimon,
I am F1 student, and choose Consular processing (Kathmandu, Nepal) rather than AOS (DV 2026) due to personal reasons. Should I need police report from USA also for dv interview or not?
July 24, 2025 at 17:37
No. It is really important that you read the instructions that you were given. If you had done so you would have found this note.
“Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.”
July 23, 2025 at 12:00
Hi Simon,
Can anyone reopen and resubmit his/her DS-260 form if he/she submitted it before?
July 23, 2025 at 13:57
Yes
July 24, 2025 at 05:06
God will continue to bless you Brit Simon for committing yourself to help people around the world in this process including my colleague who is currently in Indiana USA, he was DV2021 winner, you helped him a lot through the process. When I won DV2026, he strongly advised me to follow your cannel. I wish I could be in USA this year/next, and I can see you personally there.
Thanks
July 24, 2025 at 09:16
Let’s hope DV2026 is a good year.
July 22, 2025 at 08:33
Hi Simon. Hope you are well. My question is that, I have received interview date at London US embassy in Sept, AF51***, Eritrean, but on a refugee leave to remain in the UK (in some instances which can be taken as a stateless status, despite my citizenship is Eritrean). But given the travel ban recently put in place, do you think it is worth it to attend the interview with my dependant ( Spouse), who also has similar status to me in the UK. Is there any exceptions they can make or is it pointless. Thanks again for your constant support.
July 22, 2025 at 09:50
The only exception they can apply is if you have citizenship and a passport from a non banned country. Other than that, attending the interview would be a waste of time and money.
July 22, 2025 at 05:24
hello mr brit. CHATGPT says my sister is still eligible for a DV visa as a child under CSPA. but when i asked you in one of your lives you said she isnt. then i searched up for laws and it seems that CSPA has been updated and theres something called sought to acquire. because we applied for dv lottery, won and and submitted ds260 BEFORE she turns 21. the instructions provided by AI mentioned that i need to bring up the fact that she is still eligible for a dv visa under the cspa in case she gets rejected. although i hate AI and im not a supporter, i could not find any other information about the subject beside one of your commenters said he got rejected because of aging out which concerned me, she is 21 and 9 months unmarried
and we just got interview date in september
July 22, 2025 at 08:21
For DV, the rule is that approximately 7 months is added, that is the period between beginning of the entry until the results are published from the beginning of October until the beginning of May. Therefore, if your sister is older than that in the month you became current, she is ineligible. If you were current when she was 21y+7 months, then she falls under CSPA, even if your interview is in September.
July 22, 2025 at 09:33
The rules for DV CSPA are very clear (although there is now a slight difference in handling between USCIS and DHS). The sought to acquire thing is not relevant since DV lottery has a deadline anyway. The USCIS difference relates only to cases adjusting status in the USA and allows a slightly more generous take on when the visa “becomes available”. But that won’t be applicable to you unless adjusting status, and if she is already 21 plus 213 days, then it might be moot anyway.
I can check this again if you like.
Give me these things.
1. Her exact birthday.
2. Your case number with region and year (to see when you became current)
Or you can read about it here:

July 21, 2025 at 09:39
Hi Brit Simon,
I am DV2026 selectee for from South Sudan case no 12694k, do I have a chance to get schedule by October, November and December 2025 at Nairobi Embassy or I can transfer my case to another place like Adis ababa and Kilgali.
Please I need some advice Sir.
July 21, 2025 at 09:42
I don’t know whether NRB will continue scheduling. They just restarted for September. So – you should decide for yourself.
July 21, 2025 at 15:50
One question Simon, any problem with providing my full case number on socal media or there is no issue? Please tell me I am worry.
July 21, 2025 at 16:10
No problem as long as you don’t give complete info (name, DOB and case number)
July 21, 2025 at 18:35
Thanks you so much Simon
July 20, 2025 at 08:58
Hi,
My friends case # is 309xxx in Czech Republic. Does this mean that it’s over for him? He has been waiting on an interview this whole time.
July 20, 2025 at 09:30
If he has a DV2025EU case over 23000, then yes it is over.
July 18, 2025 at 14:01
Hi Simon, do you foresee a visa exhaustion for an AOS case that got current in August and is scheduled for Interview early September?
I’ve heard in 2023 visas were exhausted September 5 and even those with interviews scheduled were denied. Do you think such visa exhaustion will occur again given the current progression of cases?
July 18, 2025 at 14:09
No chance of visa exhaustion.
July 15, 2025 at 22:50
What do you think we should expect from US Embassy Nairobi,my friend is case number 16000 and haven’t recieved 2nl
July 15, 2025 at 22:56
I don’t know.
July 15, 2025 at 16:57
Just out of curiosity… do you think attempt to underissue visas for DV could be done in order to increase quota for EB and other immigration visas?
July 15, 2025 at 18:35
No – it doesn’t work that way.
July 15, 2025 at 14:05
Hello Simon thank you for your support. , I won DV 2025 Asia region from jordan with a case number of 22k now it has ended , and after one year of waiting , i cant describe how awful i feel , i want to sue the program and file a lawsuit , that represent me and others . is it okay if you make a Video and hosted a highly reputable lawyer you recommend that could guide me and advise if this will be a good approach , how much will it cost , and how to win the case etc etc
July 15, 2025 at 14:38
You have no grounds upon which to sue them. Your number did not get current. They are entitled to set the final number wherever they want, and getting an interview or a visa is not guaranteed. So – any thoughts of a lawsuit on this point would be a waste of time.
July 15, 2025 at 15:27
Even though they deliberately underfilled ? Aren’t they bound by law to process 55k visa’s
July 15, 2025 at 23:20
What if they make the number 0, is this a loop hole to legally end the DV lottery
July 15, 2025 at 23:29
Well that isn’t realistic…
July 15, 2025 at 13:42
Hi Simon,
You mentioned that in your YouTube video in order to receive the 2NL, the following three conditions must be met:
– The case number is current
– The DS-260 has been processed
– All required documents have been submitted and processed by KCC
My case number is already current, and I’ve submitted my DS-260. However, I received a notice upon DS-260 submission saying that I do not need to submit any documents. Could you kindly clarify this for me?
Thank you in advance for your help!
July 15, 2025 at 14:35
“All required documents have been submitted and processed by KCC” This has not been the case for some years, so I have not said anything like this recently.
July 15, 2025 at 15:18
I see, got it, thank you for your clarification
July 15, 2025 at 11:59
Hi Simon,
I’m a DV 2026 winner from EU with a 25xxx case number. As I understand the situation, 23k being the cutoff for 2025 was a one-off anomaly due to an extremely high case density.
According to Xarth’s poll, we’re seeing a 47-48k max Case Number for EU in DV-26. If that was the case, is this at least somewhat indicative of the cutoff line improving in DV-26 vs. DV-25? I’d only need a 3k improvement over this year, so the +7-8k in CNs vs. DV-25 seems like a good early sign.
Also, if the travel bans persist throughout 2026, could there be some room for a reapportionment to EU (from banned AF/AS countries) towards the end of the cycle so they’d only under fill by like 3-5k visas and not 20k visas?
July 15, 2025 at 12:59
Firstly it is NOT correct that DV2025 had high density, and that is not why DV2025 ended at 23k. The reality is that they *chose* to underfill.
As for evaluating chances for DV2026 – it is too early to do that since we do not know anything about selectee numbers. Wait until we know more.
July 15, 2025 at 06:14
Hi Brit,
As an EU286xx (2025) winner I was absolutely devastated after seeing the numbers yesterday. Still, I want to sincerely thank you for your mathematical predictions, which always reflected both common sense and your genuine hope for the best outcomes for DV winners. This entire journey has been a whirlwind—from the moment I found out I was selected to the many ups and downs of hope and despair. I especially remember watching your live session where you analyzed my embassy (BLG) and mentioned that it had accepted the highest case numbers last year. That gave me so much hope at the time.
Please also extend my thanks to Xarthisius for the incredible work he’s done. I truly appreciate everything.
July 15, 2025 at 08:25
Sorry it ended so horribly.
July 15, 2025 at 14:14
I was about to type the same thing , as i was in the same situation, however i am seriously considering a law suit for the program.
July 15, 2025 at 04:39
IS there hope for Nairobi embassy to schedule for interviews or its done and dusted.Second can someone receives 2nls even after the fiscal year ends Sep.Third were do you think Nairobi embassy take their 2nls because every embassy has to receive its 2nls every month or its embassy to request for 2nls
July 15, 2025 at 08:22
We don’t know what NRB will do. You just have to wait and see.
July 18, 2025 at 09:06
Guess Nairobi has started issues 2nl I received a notification to log in to the dv portal
July 18, 2025 at 09:50
Yep – the have!!!
July 15, 2025 at 04:30
Hi Simon,
Thank you for all the guidance along the way.
As a DV2026 selectee with a case number in the EU28xxx range, the final cutoffs this year don’t seem very promising. Looking at the historical data, such low cutoffs appear to be quite rare—only DV2018 seems to have had similarly low numbers recently.
Looking ahead, which data or updates should we be keeping an eye on for next year?
I understand that nothing is guaranteed, but are there any key dates or sources we should be following?
Thanks in advance!
July 15, 2025 at 08:21
The numbers are simply a logical order, and are meaningless without knowing the selectee numbers. So – we get the selectee numbers in the VB a month from now, and then in January we have the CEAC data. You will likely need both of those to know your chances. However, there is no way to know if the government decide to underfill as they did yesterday…
July 15, 2025 at 01:51
It’s truly a tragedy — you wait over a year after submitting everything on time, and then something like this happens. It’s really sad, and all our hopes have been shattered for now. But we won’t give up — we’ll try again and keep holding on to the dream. Maybe next time things will look better for Europe again. I’ll stay loyal to your side and won’t give up — maybe next time I’ll be luckier and get a number lower than EU36k.
July 15, 2025 at 08:19
Best of luck.
July 15, 2025 at 14:16
i am in the same boat as you are , and i am seriously thinking about a lawsuit
July 14, 2025 at 23:05
I am shocked by the low Numbers and willful waste. So sad for all the people who waited and hoped all this year. Sorry for all the people who lost their chance. My thoughts are especially with Vadim who was sitting in Vienna, my hometown, hoping for his number – he called in last QA worried about the embassy here – sorry it didn’t work out for you.
Simon, I follow you since spring because I am a selectee for 2026, with a medium-high number for Europe. I had high hopes because the chances didn’t sound too bad – now it looks bleak. I worry the strategy of waste will continue in 2026 – what a year to come 😓
July 15, 2025 at 08:16
Fingers crossed for a more sensible outcome.
July 14, 2025 at 14:02
Hello Simon, maybe you can help me with this doubt I have. I have a F4 (brother and sister petition), and my priority date is September 26, 2008. I live in US under another visa (Work), so can I start filling out the i-485 to adjust status, according to the chart B?
July 14, 2025 at 14:05
I only answer questions regarding DV Lottery.
July 14, 2025 at 11:51
What a disappointment. Could it be that Trump admin is intentionally dragging their feet to waste visas? Trump has never been a fan of the dv lottery
July 14, 2025 at 11:59
I don’t think he is that involved, but no one knows for sure.
July 14, 2025 at 11:26
Another sad news. Imagine someone with 38XXX AF not even have 2NL, and they keep release new VB which they know for sure they will not issue 2NL.It is heart breaking..Anyone, may be USA is not where we suppose to be.
July 14, 2025 at 11:15
Hi Britsimon.
I come from zambia ( not a lot of DV lotteries come from here)and have truly been following you from the time we were selected for 2025 Dv lottery.
My number is 56xxx and it falls below the September vb range which is 58,500. But the CEAC status is still at NVC . What shud I do? I really need your help
July 14, 2025 at 11:39
Now you wait for the 2NL
July 14, 2025 at 17:45
Hello Britsimon
I come from Djibouti and I have been following you since I was selected.
my case number is 57k and it is lower than the visa bulletin range which is 58,500. but the Djibouti embassy is not working well they haven’t sent the 2NL since 38409 according to dvchairt.
so can i change my interview location ?
and thank you very much for your kind attention and help thank you again and again
July 14, 2025 at 19:39
The time to change embassy was BEFORE you became current. Now you will just have to hope they scheduled you.
July 14, 2025 at 10:52
Absolutely disgusted but seeing the way they handled the process in the last 2-3 months… not surprised. Thanks for the guidance Simon anyway…
July 14, 2025 at 10:57
Yep – they obviously want to waste the visas…
