The “December” bulletin has been released. It includes details of case numbers that are current for January interviews.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs will be sent in about one or two weeks time – that means the latter part of the month. The schedule is that VBs are published between the 8th and the 15th of each month, and 2NLs go out from the 15th to the end of the month (most typically around the 20th to 24th). This is the same every month, so there is no need to ask me.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Thanks very much Brits,
this guys are really killing us with this snail walking thing they are doing, but what ever the case may be we are still waiting bcos we have been waiting since.
dont even know when they will get to 17000 range for africa,
what a feeling
November 13, 2017 at 20:58
The prediction is failed. There is NO 2500+ to the previous number, but ONLY 2200+. That’s really really sad.
November 13, 2017 at 21:00
What prediction – your own???
November 13, 2017 at 21:04
” I would expect the VB to increase by about 2500 for January, 2500 for February, and 2500 for March and April. ” Its from your post. I hoped the number will be at least 8500. But its still going very slowly.
November 13, 2017 at 21:11
Well that was an expectation (not a prediction). So – in VB terms they are doing roughly what I expected.
November 13, 2017 at 21:26
Hey Brit, for some of us who believe in your expectations and understand what it means ,when do you expect AF to hit at least 20,000? Feb, March, April? Please just provide an expectation not a prediction….Lol
November 13, 2017 at 21:30
The first of the AF limited countries will begin to hit their limits next month. That means density will decrease, and VB progress will begin to speed up. The effect will only be slight in February (next VB), and more pronounced in March (the VB released in January). In January we will be able to get the CEAC data – and that will reveal the country limits (density decrease).

Tolik, stop trollin and get f.. o… of here (apologize everyone for words, but that guy is annoying). You forgot to add his next sentence which is “That is VERY rough guess – it could be more or less.” Stop coming here and typing stupid posts. Wait for your 26xxx and prepare your 500$ which you will lose (but I think your annoyance level is much higher than honor, so feel sorry for Brit – he won’t get his 500$ prize ). 2200 and 2500 is not big difference, and if you know how it works – 1600 visas per month average you can roughly predict out of what number, it’s not rocket science unless you have IQ of broken fridge. So please stop coming here just to state, that he made mistake about 300 in such condition – not knowing how many holes, no responses and refusal. He knows better than most people here, but he can’t know everything exactly – this is how this process works. Start your own blog and start sharing your wide and for sure precious knowledge. And start collecting your 500$ 🙂

LOLOLOL
November 13, 2017 at 21:34
Seriously?! Historically, monthly progress in VB for e.g. EU has been anywhere in range of 0 to few thousands, and you’re saying that being off by a few hundred is a BAD prediction?!
November 13, 2017 at 21:00
Hello Mr Brit how are you doing
I just submitted my DS260 on the 6th of this month with cn AF4XXX
Hope I will get my interview for January
November 13, 2017 at 21:01
That is very unlikely if you only submitted your DS260 a week ago.
November 13, 2017 at 21:19
In terms of the progress in Asia region … the number are now closely catching up with the previous years pace.. this confirms your prediction Brit… appreciated… I pray the numbers in future also follow your predictions… and I will then be safe ???
November 14, 2017 at 05:19
Hi Asim,
What is your case number range in 100s if you don’t mind telling?
Thanks!
November 14, 2017 at 18:08
As8xxx
November 13, 2017 at 21:29
Hi Brit
Do you think th SA region will reach the 925 case number? If so, when might that be.
November 13, 2017 at 21:33
Yes. Patience.
November 13, 2017 at 21:52
Hi Brit
I am lettle worry about this 4th VB Africa 13000 this month
1- i have CN102XX and i soumitted my DS 1st/octobre 2017 , pls should i expect any 2NL this two weeks coming????
November 13, 2017 at 22:58
Probably
November 13, 2017 at 21:54
do u think will dv 2018 go current
November 13, 2017 at 22:57
No!
November 13, 2017 at 21:55
Hi ,
Thank you for your patience and your great efforts you do.
My number is AF23xxx, when do I expect the enterview?..Iam worried because I have a bad experience , I was selected in lottery 2015 but the fiscal year ended before my number reached .
November 13, 2017 at 22:53
Just be patient.
November 13, 2017 at 22:15
Look like it started slow but at least for EU it is picking up and if the monthly difference grows by just 10% (i.e. Dec to Jan was 2200, then Jan to Feb would be +2420, and so on) then this would mean ~32000 by end FY2018.
Note, that this is much more conservative than Simon’s prediction (which I expect to be much more accurate than mine, I just feel better about myself knowing that a monthly increase of just 10% would mean I am safe – having an EU number under 30K)
Thanks for this resource, very useful for anyone with a stake in the DV Program.
November 13, 2017 at 22:52
My recent article explained VB progress using EU as an example.
November 13, 2017 at 22:20
Realy so slow to SA. I hope that everybody well are current in may
November 13, 2017 at 22:51
That won’t happen.
November 13, 2017 at 22:28
do u think the af region will reach 50000 case number
November 13, 2017 at 22:50
I don’t know
November 13, 2017 at 22:43
Hi Brit! I texted you on Facebook page. Please when you have time, check my message. It regards two new bills that were introduced early November and targeting DV lottery elimination. Thank you.
November 13, 2017 at 22:49
I answer questions here. New bills are meaningless until voted on and passed.
November 14, 2017 at 09:51
I won’t copy the whole message since it’s big. The bills numbers are S.2082 and H.R.4340. Basically i was asking you, as a person who lives in US and more or less knows how the system works, how soon is it possible the bills to be voted on? IMHO it’d be after JAN-FEB
November 15, 2017 at 17:17
I am too busy to speculate
November 13, 2017 at 23:52
I am loving the drawn out ridiculousness of this thing. I can’t wait to live in bureaucratic Trump land!
November 13, 2017 at 23:53
Hi,my DV is AF47xxx,is this a safe number to your knowledge ?Thanks.

November 14, 2017 at 00:02
After the interview, how long does it take until we have our passport back? I mean, if all goes well and the visa is approved.
November 14, 2017 at 00:06
1 to 2 weeks typically.
November 14, 2017 at 00:06
This is just happing now https://t.co/w1pJPX0PY9 do u think there is effects on DV lottery.
November 14, 2017 at 00:16
Maybe. Time will tell.
November 14, 2017 at 00:13
So safe numbers for DV2018 are those under 116k which means selected below 11600,is this correct ?
November 14, 2017 at 00:16
No – that is not correct.
November 14, 2017 at 00:55
I Brit how are you? I am a little worried about this bulletin my case number is SA16XX and I dont know if I will get my interview. Have a good one
November 14, 2017 at 02:11
60000 is a correct case number in terms of being safe? for AF
November 14, 2017 at 06:15
Is that your case number? I don’t think that is “safe”.
November 14, 2017 at 04:12
Hello Brit heated that the case number will go quick after January.. I mean after new year is that real?

November 14, 2017 at 04:14
Heared
November 14, 2017 at 05:31
Thanks Brits. I have a question for you.
1. After interview is it possible to stay inside the country up to six months?
2. When does the 134- on line form filled?
Thank you once again !
November 14, 2017 at 06:09
1. Yes
2. Shortly before the interview.
November 14, 2017 at 12:28
Shortly before the interview means after I receive 2NL.
November 15, 2017 at 17:26
Yes
November 14, 2017 at 05:54
try to compare DV 2008 VB AND DV 2018 VB. THEY ARE QUITE SIMILAR. I DON’T KNOW WEATHER IT WILL BE FOLLOWING THAT ORDER FOR THE REST OF DV2018.
TRY TO LOOK INTO IT AND GIVE US THE ANSWER.
November 14, 2017 at 06:07
That is a pointless exercise. Every year is different.
November 14, 2017 at 06:12
hallo dear birt
“The first of the AF limited countries will begin to hit their limits next month. ” you say this…..
you mean the limit of visas (7% ) this countries can have.
November 14, 2017 at 06:27
No. Countries that are limited in the draw.
https://britsimonsays.com/vb-progress-explained-again/
November 14, 2017 at 06:12
Thanks man
November 14, 2017 at 06:41
So,those of us who have not received any notice that we have been selected, for further processing, should forget it?
November 15, 2017 at 17:07
If you were not selected in the draw, then there is no further chance in DV2018. You can try again in DV2019 (registration open right now)
November 14, 2017 at 06:53
hi everyone and Britsimon
Britsimon you mean (Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks …).
1- the words ” have forms processed early enough ” if i understand the first soumited = the first serv????
2- so if is that case my CN102XX has to wait february or Mars to get the 2Nl . because i have apply my DS260. 1st October 2017 !!!
November 15, 2017 at 17:08
Depending on how fast your DS260 can be processed, it might be January, or yes, it could be later.
November 14, 2017 at 07:43
Hi Mr.Brit
I’m from AF CN:22xxx
I expect my interview willbe in march or april.
What is the right time to change interviewing Embassy.
Thank you in advance.
November 15, 2017 at 17:09
If you have changed the country where you live, you should update your DS260. Otherwise KCC will schedule your interview based on your country.
November 14, 2017 at 08:03
Asia region will be current in March 2018?
Visa published number will reach case number 11000?
Please answer me dear
November 15, 2017 at 17:11
No Asia will not be current, not in March, and maybe not later. Wait and see.
November 14, 2017 at 08:14
1. I wannt to find out if l and my wife can have separate interview. Am currently studying in Europe and my wife is in Africa. I chose Europe as a place for my interview and l chose African for my wife because she is currently living in Africa with my 2 children. I did this because the family will join me in July.
2. I add my new born baby birth cert to my ds260 form yesterday. I added his detail to my application when l submitted the ds260 form in may. During that time the birth certificate was not ready so l did not able to add. I added it yesterday and l wanted to no if this can cause delay for my interview. My number fall below the January VB.
3. I remember in July l sent kcc email to unlock the form for me to attach my son birth cert but they said they are processing my form so the benefially has to go to where he will be inter and initiate join to follow. But yesterday when l check my ds260 application l was able to add my son and l have submitted and printed the comfirmation page. I want to know if l have to still go to the embassy to initiate follow to join.
November 15, 2017 at 17:13
1. No, you interview will be scheduled in the country of residence of the main applicant – family members attend that interview.
2. Maybe.
3. You can’t do follow to join. THat is not how FTJ works.
November 15, 2017 at 17:47
1. When l fill ds260 form l stated that my spouse and children will join me later. Now they are in Africa and l am in Europe studying. I want to find out if our interview date will be the same.
1. We are expecting the 2NL next week for January interview. I want to find out if she can change her interview date to February.
November 14, 2017 at 08:20
Hello Brit,
I have a case number EU93XX and I submitted the DS260 at June. When can I expect the interview date?
Thank you
November 15, 2017 at 17:13
Wait and see
November 14, 2017 at 09:05
Hi Mr. Brit
Is this new travel ban correct?
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-immigration-ruling/appeals-court-lets-trump-travel-ban-go-partially-into-effect-idUSKBN1DD272
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. appeals court in California on Monday let President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban go partially into effect, ruling the government can bar entry of people from six Muslim-majority countries with no connections to the United States.
This very bad, I am from yemen and my interview on next 10 Dec, what you suggest me as I do not have any connection in USA (Family, stsudy .. etc)
Sincerely
Mustafa
November 15, 2017 at 17:15
If you cannot prove a tie to the USA you will not be approved (unless the ban is blocked again).
November 14, 2017 at 09:11
Hello dear BRITSIMON! I went to get the results of analysis of my medical visit. And on the sealed envelope, the doctor, wrote 24 years old while I had 25 last August. I pointed out the mistake, but she told me it will not be a problem. What do you think? Thanks
November 15, 2017 at 17:15
No problem.
November 14, 2017 at 10:46
Mr. Simmons do you think any number below 15XX SA still safe or they will never reach so high according to the Slow VB Progress for SA?? Your intake will be appreciated
November 15, 2017 at 17:21
It’s not slow process. We have had 4 months out of 12.
November 14, 2017 at 11:35
Dear Brit,
I am from Nepal and my case number is AS26XX. So in this case should i refer to Asia number which is 3400 or Nepal number which is 2650.
Please clarify me.
November 15, 2017 at 17:22
Nepal.
November 14, 2017 at 13:47
After the last VB, Do you still keep the CN as safe below 15xx for SA?
and excuse the question but I have some nervousness
November 15, 2017 at 17:28
I haven’t changed my opinion.
November 14, 2017 at 14:52
lol
November 14, 2017 at 17:44
I am from Yemen
The visa number is more than 3,500
The interview was located in Sanaa
And now there is no embassy in Sanaa
Now what should I do
November 15, 2017 at 17:59
They will schedule you at a different country. Howver, the ban is re-implemented, so you will need to prove a family relationship in the USA.
November 14, 2017 at 18:29
You are from Nepal so you should probably consider Nepal’s cutoff number. Your case number will be current on the next VB. ( When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number)
November 14, 2017 at 19:05
Hi Brit,my case number is AF29xxx is this current?

November 15, 2017 at 18:04
1. No
2. Months away – wait and see.

November 14, 2017 at 21:34
Hi Brit, as I see everyone is worried about the case numbers. I would like to ask you that is it ok to apply for DV-2019 even if I selected for DV-2018? Will the reapplying to the lottery cause a problem in future steps for DV-2018? I spoke as an EU33XXX (:
November 15, 2017 at 18:09
No problem in entering DV2019
November 14, 2017 at 22:18
Hi. Do you think case numbers in the Oceania region like OC19XX is safe? Do it have any chances of being interviewed? Thank you for your time and help.
November 15, 2017 at 18:12
I think that number has almost no chance. Please try DV2019
November 15, 2017 at 11:19
