I’m getting various versions of this question many many times every dat. So let me give some tips here, so that I don’t have to repeat my answers again and again.
First – what should you expect?
KCC will sometimes prioritize processing in case number order. So if your case number is nowwhere near current, they will not be rushing to process your documents.
KCC stopped working at full capacity for some months. During that time I am sure there was a backlog of documents built up, and it ill take some time to work through that backlog. I also believe that more people will have been sending documents in the last month or two since I have been saying that everyone should be sending documents. So you might have done everything right, but because of the backlog, it will still be weeks before your documents are processed. No amount of panicking will help that.
By the way, EVERYONE should send their documents. #SendTheBloodyDocuments
OK, so those things being said here is what you can do if you are still waiting for documents to be processed.
- If your case number is high – be patient. They won’t get to your documents yet. But do read the other tips here below.
- If your case number is low or even current, and you sent your documents less than 2 months ago, Wait.
- If your case number is low or even current, and you sent your documents MORE THAN 2 months ago, so the following.
- Check your documents carefully to see you sent the correct documents – some tips here. I have seen SEVERAL cases where people were convinced they had sent the correct documents, I recommend a change, and within days people get the ready for scheduling email. So many cases are being delayed through not preparing the documents correctly. Take this point seriously, your GC depends on this step!
- You can email or phone KCC and ask them are they satisfied with your documents. Be prepared to identify your case with full case number (including zeros), full principal selectee name and date of birth. Tell them when you sent the documents, what documents you included and so on. Behave professionally, calmly and note what they say.
- Wait a couple more weeks, then try again.
- If needed, resend your documents, again making certain that your full set of documents is attached.
- If you email KCC and they tell you they are waiting for proof of why you did not provide a passport in the initial entry, then answer them. If your answer is that you simply didn’t have time to get a passport before the entry, but were able to do so later, then you are likely not going to get scheduled. Rules matter.
- If you ask KCC about documents you sent and KCC email you and send the email that says “You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.” It means your documents are not processed yet. Read the tips above, and wait a couple more weeks, then try again. Perhaps phone this time.
- If you get an email that says “Your case number is now current for interview processing. ” that means you are being scheduled right now and can expect a 2NL by the end of the month, assuming the embassy is taking interviews.
So overall, remain calm and realize that you may be causing yourself a problem by not following instructions. But also realize that things will take time. No amount of stressing and running around like a headless chicken will solve your problem. Exercise some patience, and whilst waiting, make sure you have followed these tips, precisely.

March 22, 2021 at 14:56
One question regarding documents…
Do I have to provide police certificate for period during military serve (serve one year), because now it is separate country (when I served it was one country – Serbia and Montenegro)?
Thanks in advance
March 22, 2021 at 15:38
Maybe I wasn’t clear… I provided PC for home country. My question is do I have to provide also for Montenegro when I served military? Then it was one country, but now it is separate.

Greetings Simon,
Thank you so much for always informing us and helping us.
I have got a question.
I filled the DS-260 form last August, and sent all my documents, and already got the “Ready for scheduling ” email, since last September. My case number is EU108x. There’s people with case number 3k who are already getting the 2NLS.
Should I send an email to KCC and ask them regarding the docs, or should I wait? What do you advise?
March 21, 2021 at 16:29
Wait. Is your embassy accepting interviews?
March 21, 2021 at 16:42
Yes. Albania isn’t affected by the Schengen Ban.
March 21, 2021 at 15:47
Hi Mr. Simon,
I’m EDV21 winner from Nepal having low case number, I’ve received documents verification mail long ago within less 1week after submitting my DA260. Mail says that congratulations! We’ve received all your documents required by KCC and your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. It means do I need to do anything further? Or I should only be patient and wait for 2NL?
Please advise if i need to do anything further to get scheduled my interview sooner, my case is current long back, Thank you?
March 21, 2021 at 16:30
KDU so far are not interviewing. I’m sure they will start soon. Wait.

Hello Simon. Thank you for your continuous assistance. God bless you and your family.
Please I’m a DV 2021 winner. While playing the DV, one of my kids (who is 2 years old) didn’t have a passport, but he now has one and all our documents have been submitted.
I don’t know if a 2 year old child who is a derivative will be penalised for not having a passport at the time of playing the lottery.
Thanks.

Hi Brit,
I am DV2021 winner. I lived in USA for 3 years 2017-2020 based on L1A visa. However, now I am living in my home country and will go through consular processing for 2021 DV. I didn’t submit my documents yet, everything is ready to go. However, I need to know whether or not I have to send extra docs, for instance W2/credit score/ L1A visa USCIS approval? For sure I will take them to the interview, however, I need to know if i have to send it to KCC for document processing? Thanks.
March 22, 2021 at 02:29

March 21, 2021 at 21:38
Hello Brit
My case number is current, KCC asked for my documents since late October so i sent them in November
We’re a small family of two(myself and my wife)

* i have sent them an email a month ago and got “kcc is working on numerical order based on lottery rank order” then 10 days ago i sent another email still no answer other than the automatic reply
1) could be the reason i have not received a confirmation email that i renewed my wife passport in March (since less than 6 months expire) but didn’t update the DS or send the new passport
2)should i be worried?
March 22, 2021 at 00:28
3) i tried calling KCC but they don’t seem to accept phone calls..anyone tried to call them and worked?
March 22, 2021 at 05:37

FEW WEEKS AGO, I SAW ON GHANA US EMBASSY WEBSITE
“The embassy is now processing expired immigrant visas. If your non-immigrant Visa was issued before April 23, 2020 and expired before you were able to immigrate to the United States, please email [email protected] include your case number (beginning with ACC) and full name. Once your email is received, you will be contacted with next steps. Please note that while we are processing expired immigrant visas, the embassy has not resumed routine visa appointments. If you have already contacted the embassy regarding your expired immigrant Visa, you DO NOT need to send another email”
AND NOW, WRITTEN BELOW IS WHAT HAS BEEN POSTED.
Important Note for Current and Future Visa Applicants
The consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Accra continues to operate with reduced in-person staffing and is scheduling a limited number of visa appointments for qualifying applicants. The consular section is processing a limited number of Immigrant Visa (IV) applications according to priority date and presidential proclamations for immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, other family members, essential workers, and returning residents, along with a limited number of emergency Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) applications.
Presidential Proclamation (P.P.) 10014, entitled “Suspension of Entry of Immigrants Who Present a Risk to the United States Labor Market During the Economic Recovery Following the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Outbreak,” was rescinded on February 24, 2021. Read here on how it may affect your visa application.
If you have an upcoming appointment at U.S. Embassy Accra, please watch this video to learn about health protocols that will keep us all safe during your visit: https://youtu.be/oWkvaeOPu_E.
If you have an urgent need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance here (for NIV requests) or here (for IV requests) to request an emergency appointment. Please understand that the consular section is only able to approve those requests that qualify under established priority and emergency criteria, to include categories of medical professionals, students , essential workers, and those in exceptional humanitarian need.
Interview appointments for other visa categories, including routine B1/B2 interview appointments, remain suspended. We understand that many visa applicants have paid the visa application processing fee and are still waiting to schedule a visa appointment. The validity of your nonimmigrant visa payment (known as the MRV fee) has been extended until September 30, 2022 to allow all applicants who were unable to schedule a visa appointment the opportunity to schedule and attend a visa appointment with the already paid fee.
Applicants for H1B, H2B, H4, L and certain J categories covered by Presidential Proclamation 10052 should request an appointment only if you have reason to believe you may qualify for one of the exceptions listed here.
Lawful Permanent Residents are not subject to any Presidential Proclamations restricting travel and may return to the United States from Ghana, provided you have not abandoned your permanent resident status. Further information on international travel as a permanent resident can be found the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services page.
Read here for details on the current status of immigrant visa processing at our embassies and consulates around the world.

Hi Brit,
My case number AS6XXX, Became current on Visa bulletin of April. I have already sent supporting documents since 30/Sep/2020 but have not received any email back until 26/Feb/2021 I email KCC to ask about my documents and they replied :
Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.

Hey Simon,
thanks a lot for this post – super helpful.
I have 2 questions:
1) We submitted the documents with attached also a certified english translation (e.g. Birth certificate 1 pdf, page 1 original document, page 2 translation, page 3 attestment that the translation is certified). Do you think that’s ok?
2) For the marriage certificate we attached twice the same document, with different names (i.e. “casenumber_wifename_Marriage_certificate.pdf” and “casenumber_husbandname_Marriage_certificate.pdf”). Does that sound ok?
We are just freaking out that the documents are not being processed due to some errors on our part – even though we double checked a million times.
Thanks a lot for everything you are doing.
Best,
Pop

March 22, 2021 at 15:06

March 24, 2021 at 05:11
If in doubt, send both.

1) Will there be a problem if we submitted the documents and named the documents like this?
—— Casenumber_last name first name_documentname. Pdf.
——-Example from KCC email said : Casenumber_firstname_lastname_documentname. Pdf.
(first name and last name are inverse, and the underscore _ is not in right place)
2) We submitted reasons why we don’t have police clearance from our home country, due to embassy closure in our city and travel restrictions. It states that on our embassies home pages.
I received mine now from lawyers and send it to KCC, but my wife’s document we can get if we have the appointment date at US embassy, or she can fly to shanghai from Beijing in a few days, as restrictions has lifted now, but we send the documents already. We don’t want to keep sending, as they might say” its OK, we should just take it with us to the appointment”
Do you think they will need it before they schedule the interview?
We did submit the Chinese police clearance, and submitted my police clearance from home country.
Thank you, Thank you. Thank you.

Dear Brit,
I am a EU DV2021 winner, I’ve already sent my documents (as you suggested) but my passport will expire on January 2022.
When do you suggest me to replace it? Before my interview or after my first entry after the visa endorsement at the POE? How can I prove the borders that I will be a LPR if I’ll have a new passport?
Thanks a lot.
March 23, 2021 at 00:11
I have the same situation, you can just show them your old and new passport when you enter the country.

My question is: From your understanding, what did Charlie mean when he said that All regions will go curent befoe June ? Means next visa bulletin will be current or the VB which will be released in June is the one going to be current ? I tried to interpret but could not & hope you help.

Sorry brit last question if i have selected “married and my spouse is a U.S. citizen ” in that case the system will let me proceed without spouse information right? How about that is this also disqualified?and my wife is not already U.S. citizen.
March 24, 2021 at 07:58
Thanks brit i already got your answer..
But someone says disqualification is upon the CO. At the time of interview he/she will decide on the case. Because i have heard some cases in past years that in the first enrty was single then he updated ds260 as divorced and listed spouse name. And qualified now he is in U.S….

Feel free to waste your time and money based on a lie you choose to believe.

My case number is AS71XX. I have sent documents but haven’t received the confirmation letter.
1500 USDs is well in my budget and I know it is well worth this life-changing opportunity.
Will I benefit from the lawsuit and if yes, how can I attend in that lawsuits?
Thanks

Dear Brit:
I would like to participate in dv2021 litigation and i have couple of basic questions:
1. We are a family of three – should each member of the family join the suit or the participation of the main DV applicant is sufficient?
2. I read that a person is eligible to participate in the suit if the he/she is the selectee who has submitted initial paperwork – should we urgently submit the ds form to KCC to be eligible?
Thank you and kind regards,
Simon
