Hello Britt
I am from DRC (2026 winner) currently in South Africa and did choose Zambia for my interview location because of work but got an email yesterday stating that I cannot have it there because it is not my country of nationality. I would like to know if it is possible to change the location to South Africa I have been living here for a while. Is there a way to contact them via email and schedule it here in South Africa???
Thank you for getting back to me

They want you to interview where you live. So if they have your address updated to South Africa – that is where they will schedule you.

I am a DV lottery winner 2026 (case AS13XXX) and a Nepalese citizen. I am currently in the U.S. on an F-1 visa. I want to apply for Adjustment of Status (AOS), but I am concerned that my case might not become current in time, or if it becomes current late, it might still be pending by September 30, which could cause me to fall out of status.
I have noticed that the Asia region is current up to 10,000, but Nepal is only at 6,000. I am worried that if my AOS is still pending when the fiscal year ends, I may be out of status and forced to leave the U.S. before completing my degree. Is AOS safe for me ?

Dv AOS cases are processed faster than other AOS. So as long as you do everything correctly, therebis plenty of time to complete AOS.

Since January (DV-2025) until September, the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa has barely called anyone for interviews.
For DV-2026, no interview appointments have been scheduled so far.
Many DV-2025 winners couldn’t travel because of this situation.
Does anyone know the reason for this or if the same thing might happen again for DV-2026?

I have no information, but I would hope they would behave better for DV2026.

Hello Simon,
I want to ask a couple questions: I got selected for 2026 from Turkey my case number is EU25xxx, I am currently an f-1 visa holder living in US. During ds filing I wanted a consular processing. However, later I learned many things about program, and one of them was Turkey consular processing is very slow, and my case number is too high. I sent an email to KCC asking for AOS, I am curious whether I do correct things, I feel it is a whole rabbit hole and I feel lost a little. Should I be hopeful, about green card, and what should I expect in general from this year ? Lastly would you recommend me to ask for H1-B sponsorship from the company, I work for ? Or wait until this year ends ?

Your chances of getting an interview in Turkey are indeed low if they behave the same way that they have in recent years. Therefore AOS could be a good option for you. I have included a link below with lots of excellent information about AOS.
Now – one thing that troubles me. You casually mention you are working for a company. You must not break any terms of your F1 visa – if you do that you will be ineligible to adjust status. So – be careful about that!

You can get subtitles and also use AI to get transcripts. I do enough work already…

Hi, Simon, I have a quick question to ask. For DV 2026, does the $330 payment happen at the point of submitting the DS 260 or before the interview? Is the DS 260 submission free and the winner pays when it’s time for the interview or they pay upfront during the filling of the DS 260 form?
October 18, 2025 at 21:08
The 330 is paid at the interview.

Hello Simon, I have two questions.
How did you determine that 57% of participants in the U.S. Diversity Visa lottery are disqualified because of their photo? I searched for any official source and couldn’t find such information. How did you know this? The official website states that photo rejection happens at the consulate, **after the results are announced**, not before.
If the entry period for the U.S. Diversity Visa lottery is in November or December, when will the results be announced? Will they remain in May, or will they be in the first week of June? What is your estimate?
October 17, 2025 at 18:53
You haven’t exactly listened. But here is where I have that nu.ber.
Go download the DV2025 file. That gives us every real case and every hole. Among the real number ranges you will find 57% are holes.
In recent court documents the government stated they had disqualified 10% of the entries for fraud. Which means 47% are disqualified for other reasons, which I believe is mainly for photos. And that is what you have heard me say, not the 57% for photos.
As for the entry period. A delayed start will mean a delayed results day.

Brit, at this point it’s safe to assume that DV2027 is in serious danger given how Trump has acted with his vicious assault to all types of immigrants. The fact that the DV lottery is encoded in the INA will not stop Trump or Stephen Miller from using administrative action or inaction to stop it.
The passport rule is quite honestly, a good rule. I checked the comment section on the administrative ruling and it confirms what I’ve read in WhatsApp groups. The dv lottery is abused to an outrageous degree. People from Africa even falsified passport scans in DV years that required a valid passport. The fraud is widespread and it makes me sick tbh.
The 1 dollar rule might be used in the future. If the passport and 1 dollar rule are implemented, the entrants will reduce from 20 million to 7 or 8 million, yielding 8 million dollars at most, which is peanuts when compared to the expenditure of the American government. Here is where Trump will get us. He will try to hike it to 200 dollars or more in dv2028 and further. And there might not be much legal remedy to confront him in courts.
October 17, 2025 at 11:34
I don’t really see the “serious danger” you think exists.
Yes, the passport rule slows down some fraud, and yes some of that fraud is in Africa, but not all. But actually one of the largest drops when the passport rule was introduced previously was Uzbekistan. Ukraine was also heavily impacted and Turkey to a lesser extent.
The existing costs of the program have been paid for over 10 years by the interview fee of $330 per person. That has raised about $20M per year – which would have been more and more strained as years went by and costs increased. The $1 fee would raise another $10M if there were 10M entries – right? So that is a 50% increase in funding in just one move at $1 cost. Whilst I can see some future adjustments to that, it would be hard to justify the type of increases you imagine.

Hi Simon, when my Usci marriage file status action is written N/A for some months now. What does it mean

I only answer DV lottery questions – so I don’t know.

Hi brit, can my son play with me and my husband (not his child?
2.should my son use my husband last name or his father’s name?
3.who should be the head when we’re playing?
October 20, 2025 at 14:46
1. If you are legally married, then your sone is your husband’s step son and should therefore be included on both your entries.
2. Your son should be listed with his accurate legal name.
3. You are the principal in your entry (listing your spouse and children as derivatives) and your husband can also enter for himself (listing you and children as derivatives)
