The February visa bulletin has been released – this is the one that affects March interviews. I think most people will be very happy to see the increases in each region, with pretty good jumps which allows work to continue in the embassies that are scheduling well. These next 3 or 4 months are important to get the volume of interviews as high as possible. Hopefully as the 2NLs come out we will see some of the bad performing embassies start to increase their capacity.

Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.

Thanks

In the first few months of 2025.
March 11, 2024 at 12:32
hello Britt Simon, hope all is well. Am inquiring about the meaning of DV1, DV2, and DV3.
March 12, 2024 at 01:03
DV1 is the main applicant, DV2 is the derivative spouse, DV3 is a derivative child
February 11, 2024 at 09:53
Hello Mr. Simon.
I really appreciate all your effort to help DV selectees to understand this uncertain (to me at least), and sometimes full of anxiety process.
I text you at this post because my case is 2024EU15XXX in Madrid, and my DS-260 is already valid for me and my family member. and because my DV number is current to be scheduled in March for the interview, and as you always posted to have an answer in 2-3, I’m just guessing of maybe something is going wrong with my case or I just have to wait and probably my 2NL will arrive soon.
Thanks a lot.
February 11, 2024 at 10:33
No need for you to worry. Just be patient.

Hi Simon
I wanted to say thank you for all the support in answering my questions, I have received the 2NL yesterday afternoon and I am already in talks w physician when to do the medical. I have gathered all the documents and I am hoping to get 1-134 but the 2NL did not state to bring one, should that worry me?
Also the letter asked for the proof of identity so I am not sure what does that means – “will be required to submit sufficient proof of identity upon arrival If you fail to obtain a DV-2024 visa by September 30, 2024, your registration will expire. Your family members must also obtain their visas prior to September 30, 2024, or they will not be permitted to join you in the United States under the DV-2024 program.”
I asked the embassy can I pay the dv lottery fee upon the arrival on the interview as I do not see any bank number account I can transfer the money.
Do I need to do anything or just follow the steps of my allocated embassy which I did and I have gathered all the documents. I need to register my appointment and I tried but it seems the embassy still did not get my appointment visible in their system, the note says it can take couple of days…
I only lack police clearance from Serbia but I have asked you about that here before that my Ministry of Foreign Affairs said I need to contact them directly in Serbia and when I did they told me that I need to go back to my Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Croatia and so my conclusion that consular affairs failed to help me… I got no from both sides…. I will write a written statement and have emails as proof, you did told me to keep track of the emails so I will print them out and present them as proof I tried to obtain it. The rest of the documents I have ready.
Thanks again for all the help and guidance!
Hope you can correct me if I said anything wrong here… I am little apprehensive to say the least…
I will sure donate some cash to your cause!
January 20, 2024 at 09:36
Numbering questions is a good idea! Help me help you.
2NL never lists documents you might need.
You pay the fees in cash.
For other points, don’t overthink. Relax.
January 20, 2024 at 14:48
Thanks! Yes I forgot to number the points , sorry about that.
I was able to register my app at the embassy today. So now I just need to relax 🙂
Thanks again! You are doing an immense help here for all of us.
January 16, 2024 at 22:03
Hey simon,
What date do you think is the max to move from addis and unlock with af35k , so i can have ength time to raise money for changing my country.
January 16, 2024 at 22:17
It might already be too late if you are already ready for scheduling
January 15, 2024 at 21:40
Hi Simon there seems to be a high number of cases with (nvc) status for Oceania as compared to last year… for earlier case ranges that are current.. is it just a case of increase in possible incorrect or ineligible entries, or just a backlog issue and these will ready as we near September ?
January 15, 2024 at 23:41
I imagine it’s just a factor of comparing an in process year to a completed year.
January 15, 2024 at 12:59
Hi Britt, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your invaluable help, I have been a part of this website since 2018 when I received my process instructions and am now a US citizen! Please, my father with case number 2024EU62XX has a derivative of my mother and brother. 20 years old when his father applied and was declared the winner. The brother turned 21 in June. According to AKSHP, the brother goes out of service on January 5th and exactly in January they became Actual and they do the interview on January 25th, 2024! When I see my friend’s visa status only 2 people ready 2024EU62XX 01 and 2024EU62XX 02 I don’t see it for my brother and I am very worried! the person who made the application and prepared the documents says that I see all three completed! My brother has to print the CSPA law on the day of the interview and do you have a chance for years? Or should a petition be completed? Thank you very much for your help, God bless you.
January 15, 2024 at 13:32
He should indeed take the CSPA law with him. The CEAC system will automatically drop the child over 21, but that child can still attend the interview and can be issued within the protection period of the CSPA.

Hey simon have a question am a permanent resident came to US with dv 2020 and my husband is back abroad he happens to be a dv 2024 selectee and his case number is current Af 36* so we officially got married in 2022 and I petitioned for him but i130 is still in process not approved yet can this affect his chances of approval he also have 2 visa denials in his record f1 and visitors visa. Should i cancel the petition process before he gets his interview scheduled or it won’t affect him any way. Thank you waiting for your reply

January 14, 2024 at 19:26
Hi Simon !
do I need to unlock the DS260 ,if we change the job or if get a promotion ?
January 15, 2024 at 00:09
No
January 14, 2024 at 13:19
Hey Brit!
I love watching your videos and thanks for all of the effort you are putting into this.
I am EU20K (Macedonia) but will hopefully interview in Stockholm. I assume its a quite safe case nr based on your projections?
Thanks a lot.
January 14, 2024 at 13:21
Yep
January 14, 2024 at 13:14
Hey Mr Simon
Can I purchase new phone number after DS-260 submission? Does it affect the DV interview?
Thanks.
January 14, 2024 at 13:21
No impact
January 13, 2024 at 06:35
Hi Brit,
The NVC status we all have is there up until we do not get a 2NL?
Even if our number became current ?
I have asked KCC end of October last year the status of my DS260 and they said I have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application….and my number is now current…
Because we do not need to submit documents and if we receive 2NL does the CEAC status changes automatically ?
Thanks!
For
all
the help!
January 13, 2024 at 10:36
The NVC status is all that shows before the case is scheduled.
January 13, 2024 at 06:16
Hey simon
Good wishes
Did not see my comment here so repeated it
I’m waiting for DV interview 17K asia
1) I have an exam at US and Asia VB moving slow, if I fill ds-160 then do I face issue at DV interview for the DV-260 due to B1/B2 application?
2) If I show reasonable factors for the ds-160 for B1/B2 like tie to home country, self finacial evidence, invitation for the exam at US then do you say I will be denied based on the Ds-260?
Thanks alot for your input.
January 13, 2024 at 10:35
1. No
2. I can’t be certain one way or the other.
January 13, 2024 at 12:27
My country is only holding emergency interview for B1/B2 and the nighboring countries have waiting lists like in next 6months.
Do you recommend me to wait for the DV interview or I better try to prepare a B1/B2 interview in few months incase my case was not interviewed, bcz I need to be at US like in august and DV is really moving slow.
I appreciate your advice❤️
January 13, 2024 at 14:53
I can’t advise you on such a key point.
January 14, 2024 at 02:44
I appreciate your honesty , but the thing is if B1/B2 application does not hurt the DV then why not to schedule an appointment incase missed DV ? The worst scenario is wasting the B1/B2 fee As if I schedule it it will be like in July.
January 14, 2024 at 09:03
Sounds like you are resolving the decision yourself just fine…
January 13, 2024 at 04:54
The visa bulletin for Asia is moving really slow compared to last year. My case number is around AS20500
If this slow pace continues there is a slim chance it will reach 20500
January 13, 2024 at 10:33
Patience.
January 13, 2024 at 02:07
Hey Brit, thanks for your efforts… I have seen your videos and did some research…
My case number is 27K for Asia (Jordan), and what I understood out of your videos is that there is no such number in Asia. I am sorry if I got it wrong, but this whole thing is confusing to be honest.
I also tried my case number to check numbers after and before mine but it shows my number is not available!!!
Can you please help explain it in a simple way?
January 13, 2024 at 10:32
Of course there is such a number – you have it. You seem to have misunderstood my comments – I have never said that number doesn’t exist, but I have explained that it is in a risky range – possibly too high. We won’t know for certain until July – so you will have to wait.
January 15, 2024 at 05:37
In fact, I know applicants with 35K-number in Jordan…
I am sorry to bother but is it too early to give up? Is there a slight chance we can be called for an interview?
Thanks again for your efforts. Highly appreciated.
January 15, 2024 at 09:17
Please re-read my earlier comment. No need to ask a question that I have already answered.
January 12, 2024 at 16:14
Could you please estimate eu33***? What are the approximate changes from your point of view?
January 12, 2024 at 16:23
I have published a full explanation video on EU specifically…
January 13, 2024 at 04:11
Good morning sir. My priority date is July 6th,2020. This date has been current over the past year and months and I notice that there were months when my priority date was lower that the dates releases on the final action date on the visa bulletin but I wasn’t still called. I am a spouse of a green card holder
January 13, 2024 at 10:33
I only answer DV lottery questions.
January 12, 2024 at 22:01
There is a chance this number range won’t get current, I am 34000 and already prepared that I won’t be called for an interview, but there is a chance we get our 2NLs, I’d say 50/50
January 12, 2024 at 14:50
Hey simon
what do you think of 70k from Morocco ! thank you
January 12, 2024 at 16:09
There is some risk. Wait and see.
January 15, 2024 at 14:01
thank you mr simon for the reply.
the last bulletin is in july. i guess we just need to wait and see the outcome.
but based on your experience mr simon, is there a reasonable hope.
January 12, 2024 at 14:31
Looks like Africa and Asia region work a bit faster than Europe compare with last year.
January 12, 2024 at 13:39
Hey Brit hope you doing well
2024AF30*** from Kenya but will have my interview done in JHN (SA) been leaving a comment but never got a reply ( maybe yo haven’t seen em)
How’s my JHN embassy behaving?
On medical area should I go with yellow fever cert since that was an outbreak disease in Kenya!!
When do you think I’ll get my 2nls ( probably)
January 12, 2024 at 16:09
JHN seems OK. Be patient.
Obviously show the doctor anything you feel is important.
January 12, 2024 at 10:00
Sir, My number is AS116xxx. Any Prediction?
January 12, 2024 at 16:06
Go look at my recent videos or articles published here.
January 12, 2024 at 08:48
Hi Simon,
l’aumento è stato di 2500 casi, nello stesso periodo dello scorso anno l’incremento è stato di 11000 casi, c’è da preoccuparsi?
January 12, 2024 at 08:53
But last year the VB barely moved after that point, so last year was “silly”.
January 12, 2024 at 21:59
Do you think this year increase might be more gradual for EU than in 2023?
January 12, 2024 at 23:29
The rate of increase is not important. The end point is.
January 16, 2024 at 11:22
Hi Simon, Am 2024AF54 Nairobi . Am married but did not fill in a DS260 for my husband because we are now separated and in the process of divorce. Is this ok?
January 16, 2024 at 12:11
Yes. The DS260 should only be completed for someone that is emigrating.
