Dear,
i saw you clarifying all the doubts of people,I have one doubt, please clarify for me
i left Saudi before 3 years,I didn’t take the Pcc and now it is very difficult for me to get
my query is
1) if they ask what can I give to them in place of Saudi Pcc,can I give experience certificate or noc etc from employer
2)can I show them the reciprocity table of travel.state.gov
3)can I waive the requirement if they want it definitely?
which option is very good?
if they ask what is the solution for waiving?
thank you
September 25, 2019 at 02:39
Can you please answer if u know
September 25, 2019 at 02:41
THe reciprocity page for SA says “Exceptions: Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom.” so that means a police cert is not needed.
September 23, 2019 at 17:25
Hi brit .
Did u heared cases in saudi Arabia,Riyadh embassy reject cases because of passed but low grades in high school ? Do u think Riyadh embassy is generally strict or friendlier about the interviews ?
September 23, 2019 at 20:17
I don’t know.
September 23, 2019 at 20:25
Brit ,
I’m a physician .. Winner in DV lottery 2020 and I’ve a question regarding police clearance certificate as we know when you reach age of sixteen and stayed in a country more than a year you have to obtain a PCC from it thus I had been stayed in Bahrain for one and half year when I aged 16 during my high school period , 20 ys ago,
And I tried to get it by applying all required documents in Bahrain embassy in my native but unfortunately it’s briefly unachievable therefore my question is will I’ve a problem in my interview with consul about this ? Knowing that I’ve the PCC from my home country for good standing..
Thanks in advance ,
Awaiting for you replay
September 23, 2019 at 20:42
You must have EXACTLY followed the instructions in the reciprocity page – and prove that you have done so – i.e. document every step.
Have you done that?
September 23, 2019 at 22:32
Yes I did and submitted all required documents in Bahrain embassy And I’ve a receipt of confirmation of submission of all required documents from Bahrain embassy but unfortunately Bahrain CID replied that the fingerprints is not clear and need to be submitted again even though I submitted a PCC from my native with computed finger print and I asked the employer In the embassy shall I come again to and told me no and informed this is the usual answer from them and the only way to get it to travel to Bahrain!!?
September 24, 2019 at 04:29
Persevere.
September 23, 2019 at 20:42
Do I need to provide police certificate from USA? Lived there for 3 years a while ago, first on J1 visa, then without legal status. The official source says: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates. But the word “residents” got me confused.
September 23, 2019 at 22:05
You said you lived there. That means you were a resident. Therefore you have your answer.
September 23, 2019 at 22:27
Hi Simon,
I have been applying for the lottery when with no success for the past 3yrs.
I’m a 25yrs old Sierraleonean married with no child.
I have completed me high school which is known here as WASSCE with 6 credit.
I also have a diploma in Banking and Finance.
I just finished my third year exams in the university, hopefully I’ll be a final year student when college reopens.
My doubts are
1. I don’t really know exactly what educational requirements i should enter.
Because for the past years i have been selecting HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE and Also i think at 1 point in time i selected HIGH SCHOOL NO DEGREE ( i really need your help in this on) cuz am losing hope already thinking the lottery is not winnable.
2. Can i include my wife?
Cuz our marriage is done religiously (Islam) at home.
September 24, 2019 at 04:28
1. It doesn’t matter what you pick. It does not affect the draw.
2. If you are legally married you must include her.
September 24, 2019 at 00:53
Hi, i just wanted to ask you about something. Well i’ve got my high school degree in 2018 and i didn’t study anything after that but i worked at a call canter so is this would be a problem or will i be disqualified for that ?
September 24, 2019 at 04:35
No problem.
September 24, 2019 at 02:50
Hey Brit,
Hope all is well.
CASE # EU24XXX
I just got back here in California and Submitted my DS 260. While reviewing it I noticed that at the question: “HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ISSUED A U.S. VISA?” I’ve only listed my O1 and not the B1/B2 that I mentioned in the following question “HAVE ANY OF YOUR US VISA EVER BEEN CANCELLED OR REVOKED” where I’ve answer: “PRIOR B1 B2 CWOP”
Is that OK or should I unlock already?
Thank you,
Leo
September 24, 2019 at 04:36
Thats OK
September 24, 2019 at 03:38
Hi Brit,
If a person already sponsored to one person, could he sponsor for another one in same year??
Thank you so much for your help…
September 24, 2019 at 04:37

Dear Simon
I am a winner of DV2020 & my case no is AS64XX. Currently I’m working as a Data Operations Engineer for a US based IT company, and I have 10 years of working experience at the same position. I m hoping to apply under occupation category during the interview since some of the educational requirements doesn’t meets my status.
When I checked in O*net, there were no job matches to the Data Operations Engineer. But there were some jobs that describes my job roles, specifications which belongs to Job Zone Four & I had completed no of training s offered by the company first 2 to 3 years which requires to Job Zone Four.
My question is how I can define that my current position belongs to Job Zone Four and its specifications during the interview to the consular officer?
Do I need to mentions all the training s and achievements in the service letter?
I really want to make this opportunity success..Please help me to figure out my concern.
Thanks for your time and effort…

Hi Simon,
Sorry if I am repeating same questions, but please help me with my case.
I am a winner of DV2020, and my case number is 2020AS14XXX.
1. I submitted my DS 260 before I found your site, and I submitted the form sometime on July, but haven’t heard back anything from KCC. I’ve checked my status, and it says “Completed” till now. Do I need to notify KCC that I submitted the form?
2. I saw somebody with case number 2020AS16XXX questioned you, and seems that you’ve answered s/he have chance to have an interview about in 6 months. If so, do you assume my interview will be in about 5 months or so?
3. I am planning show my bank balance statement with $30K. I am going to live in California where I have my College degree. Is the amount enough to cover myself and my 4 yr old son? Do you think I should show more?
4. Is there any action I need to take at this moment?
Your comments will be really appreciated.
Thank you.
September 25, 2019 at 02:08
1. No
2. Maybe.
3. It should be enough.
4. No
October 5, 2019 at 13:18
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your comments and reply.
I saw you’ve updated new subject about docments submission modification, and wonder with the circumstances, should I contact KCC if I haven’t received docments submission notification email since July? Or how long should I wait?
Thank you for your reply in advance.
October 5, 2019 at 14:57
Contact them if you wish.
September 24, 2019 at 07:35
Hi sir
I will retire soon, and I am wondering if they accept the older person (50 years), married with 2 children in the DV lottery. I was in the USA for two times. The 1st one is for one year and the 2nd is for 10 days for IT training for our company and I love this country, everything is organized. I have dream to immigrate in the USA, I hope that dream will come true.
September 25, 2019 at 02:12
I am older than you – so yes age is not important. However, make sure you have a plan on how to support yourself since the USA does not provide a pension of any significance (and you have to have contributed).
September 24, 2019 at 07:38
Hi Brit,

September 24, 2019 at 08:15
Hello, I am a DV2019 applicant who was on AP, since yesterday whenever I try to check my case status on CEAC website I don’t get any result, I don’t get any error but it also doesn’t show me any extra window to see my status, I wrote to the embassy but they didn’t reply, since these are the final days for a decision to be made, I am wondering does this mean that my case is refused and already removed from the website ?
September 25, 2019 at 02:15
CEAC has a technical problem at this time, nothing to do with your case.
September 24, 2019 at 08:47

Hi Brit
Concerning the DV -2021 entry, can the principal entrant (being both the principal entrant and the spouse) use the SAME PHOTO to enter for the dv lottery.
I mean as a requirement, me being the principal entrant I am required to provide photos for my self, my wife and children which is okey. Can my wife how being the principal entrant use the SAME PHOTOS of me and our children (that I have used) to enter for the dv lottery or this can lead to multiple application?
My photo (Principal entrant)
My wife photo
Child photo 1
Child photo 2
//
My wife photo (Principal entrant)
My photo
Child photo 1
Child photo 2
i.e SAME PHOTOS for both entry.
Or do we need to take different photos for each entry?
September 25, 2019 at 02:22
Same photos is fine.
September 24, 2019 at 10:31

Hi Simon:
i passed for the interview and medical test. i put my passport on the DHL and the embassy received my passport for last Thursday. how may days can i wait the embassy’s answer, while the last day of the DV lottery classification is 30 September? September 24, 2019 at 13:12
We have the same thing since yersterday
September 24, 2019 at 11:42
Hello Simon,
I hope you’re doing well. So I just got my I-130 approved as unmarried child under 21 of permanent resident, and I am in the process for filing for I-485. However, my parents work overseas and they were not aware that they needed to file taxes if they are outside of the United States. They won the lottery and they had their Green Cards since 2016. My question is that I know that part of I-485 is to submit tax returns for the affidavit of support, however it will probably take few weeks for them to file late taxes for the past 3 years, do you know what are the procedures or know of trust-able agency that could help with that? Is there a deadline to file for adjustment of status, since it will take time to get that(tax returns) worked out? Any precautions that we need to make sure of in this process?
Lastly, what is the time-frame to the green if I am considered under 21?
I really appreciate your feedback, please let me know if you need more information.
September 25, 2019 at 02:31
I only answer DV lottery questions.
September 24, 2019 at 15:41
Hey Brit,
In the lottery, I submitted a photo which is already on my passport used as a J1 visa. Pic was taken in March 2018, I got visa interview in May and submitted in the lottery in October. I
have been selected already, do you think I might be denied for green card in the interview?
Thank you Brit!
September 25, 2019 at 02:36
Not because of the photo, no.
September 24, 2019 at 15:57
Dear Sir,
Very helpful website with helpful information. I have a question and your help is needed please. I am flying to the United States on October 1(2 days before my visa completes 1 year from the activation date).
The problem is that I booked a ticket from kiwi.com and by mistake, it was booked as return ticket(to return back to my country on October 25) and not as a one way ticket.
Can you Sir, advise if this a problem? I am very anxious that I will have problems at US airport. Do you think is better to book a new one way ticket?
Thank you Sir. Your help is very important.
September 25, 2019 at 02:36
It is no problem.
September 24, 2019 at 16:51
Hi Simon and others,
1. I found someone to sponsor me with form I-134. May I know please when should he send or write it? Is there a precised time how long before the interview should I have it? Can the form be emailed or must be through post? My number is EU20XXX.
2. Having a sponsor form I 134, should I also have money based on poverty guidelines (like 10k per person on family) or Form I 134 is sufficient?
September 25, 2019 at 02:37
1. You present it at the interview.
2. I-134 is usually sufficient.
September 25, 2019 at 09:02
1. Simon thanks. I know I present it at the interview but when should he send me the I 134, 1 month before the interview, now, or desnt matter (case no. EU20XXX?
1.1 Can he sign and send it through email or it MUST be through post like DHL?

September 25, 2019 at 20:23

Hi Simon Sir,
Thanks for your guidance!
You had helped me in 2016 through this website, for DV lottery and I am went through that successfully!
I am on GC in the USA and want to bring my sister on visitor visa for few months. I furnished her DS-160 application for B2 visa; paid MRV Receipt fee for interview; and also, I have activated that receipt to schedule the interview. However, before I could schedule the interview the circumstances has changed back at my home because of that we want to postpone the interview for next 6-7 months.
How can we do that ? Please advise.

September 25, 2019 at 06:09
Hello Brit
Does disqualification during the interview process means
1. an automatic disqualification in the subsequent interview in case of any subsequent win?
2.Being automatically ban from entering the US the future?
September 26, 2019 at 00:27
1. Not every time. It would depend why you were disqualified.
2. Same as 1.
September 25, 2019 at 07:52
Hi brit,
In regards to the Social Security Number and Green Card do I have to enter USA/ California in order to sent them to the address or they might arrive before my entry to the state. Also, In regards to the Social Security Number do I have to visit its office or its will be issued automatically.
September 26, 2019 at 00:32
1. Your initial entry starts the process.
2. That depends on what option you selected in the DS260.
September 25, 2019 at 08:05
Hello Brit , I have already done the interview and everything was ok. I have already have a job offer letter, my question is once I enter in the USA do I need to wait for the physical green card to be mail to me or can I start work with the visa I have got on my passport?
September 26, 2019 at 00:36
You can start work immediately. Some employers don’t understand that so you primnt out this guide:-
https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/acceptable-documents/list-documents/form-i-9-acceptable-documents
September 25, 2019 at 08:50
Hi Brit,
Do you think that DV2019 visas are running out? And even some resolved AP cases will not be issued a visa before 30 Sep? Or all resolved AP will be issued?
Thanks
September 26, 2019 at 00:52
Visas are NOT running out, but not all cases will be resolved before October 1 – so still, some cases will miss out.
September 25, 2019 at 09:06
They are talking about high school grades. I have a BSc and a Masters degree. Should we sent to KCC and have at interview transcript of grades too? Because it says the diploma and the diploma does not show grades only the qualification and GPA? If so, which transcript highschool or university?
September 26, 2019 at 00:53
You present whatever proof you have at your interview.
September 25, 2019 at 09:38

Hi Simon,
I am from AS region and my case number is AS28XXX. I have few questions regarding DV lottery and DS 260 form.
01. Will I get chance for the interview?
02. I am expecting a baby and delivery date is around next April. Is it okay, if I submit VISA within this month and ask for unlocking after the delivery of my baby? To add child details? ( Without submitting the documents until I add my baby’s details)
03. My spouse’s English knowledge is poor. Is it okay if I add details in DS 260 saying NO ( There is a question asking spouse’s English knowledge.)
04. Will that be a problem ( Spouse’s English knowledge) for the pottery/ interview process?)
September 26, 2019 at 03:16
1. Yes.
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. No
September 25, 2019 at 11:22

Yes
September 25, 2019 at 14:00
Dear simons
Im a winner of the DV2020 and have already sent the documents requested by the KCC. I am 22 years old and I am a Cuban citizen residing in Cuba, I have no one to make an affidavit but I am going to receive accommodation by a friend who went to whom I put on the DS-260. That you recommend me to get a visa and does not mean a public charge.
Thank you very much for your attention and I await your response.
September 26, 2019 at 03:26
In the first place, read this
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
September 25, 2019 at 14:32
And again my country doesn’t have a zip code and I don’t know what to do about that
September 26, 2019 at 03:27
Leave it blank.
September 25, 2019 at 16:11
Hey Simon, we entered a lesser education level in both the DV application and DS-260 (High School Degree instead of the actual Vocational School) for the principal applicant.
1) Can it affect the interview result?
2) Should we unlock our DS-260 and correct High School Diploma to Vocational School?
DV2020. Thank you.
September 26, 2019 at 03:29
1. No
2. Your answers should be complete in the DS260. If they are not, correct that.
September 26, 2019 at 10:41
Thank you.
1. Please explain further your reply to #2.
DS-260s for all applicants have a complete status. But for the principal applicant we entered ‘High School Diploma’ as Highest Level of Education Completed, while it should be ‘Vocational School Diploma’. Does it mean we have to unlock the DS-260 form and correct the Education Level to Vocational School Diploma?
2. Also, we already have our documents processed. If we unlock our DS-260, will we have to resubmit the docs?
Thank you.

1. Are your answers complete and accurate already? If not, correct it.
2. None of you documents will be changed by this change will they.

1. Since we have an incorrect answer entered, it means no, we got to unlock & correct.
I’m just worried if the mismatch in the initial lottery application (High School Diploma) and DS-260 (to be corrected to Vocational School Diploma) would mean anything since all the talk about stricter requirements applied to DV2020 selectees and not providing accurate answers in the application.
You said that it can’t affect the interview result, can you please explain why?
Sorry to ask you so many questions seeing how many you answer here on a daily basis, but we’re really nervous about it, so I hope you can give us a little more of your time.
2. You’re right. I’m just overthinking, just being a little nervous since we found out about filling in the education level inaccurately.

Simon, I know you’re very busy. Can you please take a look at the question below? This is really important for us and your explanation would help us greatly! We asked in other places, but can’t get a clear answer anywhere else.
I will include the question below for your convenience:
We have an incorrect education level (High School Diploma instd. of Vocational School) entered on both the initial DV application and DS-260 (DV2020) for the principal applicant. We got to unlock & correct.
I’m worried if the mismatch in the initial lottery application (High School Diploma) and DS-260 (to be corrected to Vocational School Diploma) would put us at any risk since all the talk about stricter requirements applied to DV2020 selectees and not providing accurate answers in the application.
You said that it can’t affect the interview result, can you please explain why?
Thank you so much for your patience and all your answers!

Thank you Simon, we have watched the video, and it’s indeed packed with value.
At one point though it brought up another question. I’ll explain in detail. My wife (principal applicant) graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg, Russia at 19 y.o. The education she received there allows her to apply to any higher education institution (i.e., university) in Russia (so she qualifies by education).
According to the left chart you presented in the video at 10:32, she’s at the High School Diploma point. This is why we initially put it in the application and DS-260 as High School. However, in Russia my wife’s education is considered a vocational diploma or a ‘secondary professional education’.
Which brings us to the question of whether or not we should really correct the DS-260’s Highest Level of Education Completed to ‘Vocational School’ or not? Can you please comment on that?

Then she may be judged as not qualified. Vocational training or education is generally not able to be used toward the requirements. So it will hinge on your statement that her education allows entry to any university. If that is true (and accepted by the CO as true) then you might be OK. If she has gone on to professional type of work you should prepare a work experience case as a backup.
What you select in the entry or ds260 as a level of education is unimportant.

Another concern we have is that if we unlock or DS-260 and correct it, it will most possibly be considered as filed after October 1, which, as we read on one of the forums, may make it qualify under the new requirements on public charge. Is this true?
September 29, 2019 at 15:46
No. Not in about 100 different ways. People just talk BS.

Thank you, Simon!
Russia (and pretty much any post-Soviet country for that matter) has a specific legacy education system, and this type of education in Russia is accepted by COs in Moscow as satisfying the education requirement (alumni have a full school course under the belt and can enter any university).
So do you mean to say it does not matter whether we correct the DS-260 or not, and the only thing that matters is proving to the CO that my wife’s education satisfies the requirement by presenting them the diploma during the interview?

Correct.
Please don’t ask me the confirm what I clearly said. I have limited time.

I’m sorry Simon, just overpreparing here. Thanks so much for your help and support, this is very clear now!

Hi Simon, I saw a paragraph for you talking about expected interview cases number, regarding asia you expected 24k, in October bulletin they announced that another 4650 cases will be added to DV2020, my question: do you expect to increase the expected interview cases rather than what you mentioned before? Do you expect Asia case number 26k within the expected safe numbers?
Thanks

Hi Brit,
Thanks for your patience replying to all applicants.
I have the following questions as I am not sure if my understanding of the instructions is correct:
1. I have received the letter that I need to send my documents (only those 5 documents listed in the website), nothing extra. I am wondering when they may ask for proof of Diplomas, work experience, etc. And when I should submit them. I think for Interview. Correct?
2. When will they send 2NL. After submitting these documents and when my number is current?
3. I did not encounter anywhere in the DS-260 to ask for proof of financial support(I-134). When they may ask for it?
4. My case number is 2020AS8XXX. I think I think it may take about 1.5 month for me to obtain the police certificates. would it be late to upload the scans within Nov. 2019. What is your estimated time for interview?
Really appreciate your feedback,
Thank
