Hi, What’s the highest number you’ve heard receiving NL1 for DV2020 EU? Someone with 19xxx and 29xxx posted that they received the notification to send supporting documents. I thought it was too early for those cases.
October 11, 2019 at 21:48
ANY number can receive the documents email. But interviews are determined by case number.
October 11, 2019 at 21:10
Hey Simon!
What happens if you misplaced your names on the DV Lottery form during the application entry period ( DS-5501)
October 11, 2019 at 21:51
Misplaced your name???
YOUR.
October 11, 2019 at 21:51
I have one important question for me. I am DV2020 EU4xxxx. I lived in another EU country consecutively for 11 months, so less than 12. I came back to my home country 3 years ago. Will I need the police certificate from that country too? I am not citizen of that country of course. I read that some people say, you need the police certificate if you lived abroad in the same country for more than 6 months. And if I need this document, do I need to send it after I get the first NL?
October 11, 2019 at 23:06
Get the police cert because it is hard to prove you left after precisely 11 months.
You need to provide police certs when they ask for documents – that is before you get the 2NL.
October 12, 2019 at 18:55
I lived abroad in terms of VISA, because my country is not part of EU, And my visa was for under 12 months and I can prove when I left, but I will get the certificate in any case. Thank you very much
October 11, 2019 at 22:34

Hello BritSimon
Please can I give u my case number so u tell me the date for my interview

October 11, 2019 at 23:27
Hi Sir,
I’m from an eligible country (Liberia), now live and study in Morocco. As it relates to my address and postal Code informations on the Dv Lottery form, and advice? Secondly, my girlfriend and I are getting marry this December, by then, the process would have been over ,obviously, however, we have decided to do our applications separately, in other words, as singles. She’s also from an eligible country (Ivory Coast) any tips?
Thanks you so much Sir, as I anticipate your kind response..
October 12, 2019 at 03:16
1. There is no question there.
2. Any tips? Yeah – ask better questions, because these two were a waste of my time and yours.
October 12, 2019 at 10:28
Sir, I’m sorry about that, anyways, what I meant was, when it comes to the addresses , I’m residing now in Morocco, does that mean that I’m going to use my Moroccan addresses on the form , but still apply as a Liberian? or once I’m successful do I have to go back to Liberia to process my papers ? I just need some clarifications . And since my girlfriend and I are yet to get marry this December, do we still have to apply separately? Because by the time the results are out we would have gotten married.
October 12, 2019 at 19:35
1. Enter address where you live, with Liberia as country of birth. If selected you interview where you live.
2. Enter as two singles. If either is selected you will both process for GCs
October 12, 2019 at 23:26
Sir,
Thank you very, very much! I do really, really appreciate your response !!
October 12, 2019 at 02:55
Hi Simon, I am 35 yrs old and an Indonesian and going to apply for the DV Lottery. I have watched your YouTube and have read the FAQ Session but I still need to ask you few questions:
1. Financial proof that I need to provide IF they request. Do I need to present the full transaction from the bank book just at the current month or just the total of what I have in the bank?
2. My status is Unmarried but I have a daughter, can I still choose unmarried and provide information about my daughter in the DV Form?
3. I went to Perth, Australia for 2 yrs to study (Year 7-9) and Malaysia (Year 9 repeated – Year 11 O`Level ). Can I just get the Police Records from Malaysia only? It is quite hard to get it from Australia because I was there from year 1997.
Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
PS: thank you for making the You Tube channel about how to fill the DV Lottery. You have been such a great help.
October 12, 2019 at 03:12
2. Yes.
There is no point asking detailed questions assuming you won. It’s a lottery.
October 12, 2019 at 03:15
Dear Simon, it`s me again, Aldine. I forgot to ask you one more question about my education. I have finished O`level and continued to College in Malaysia and finished Advanced Diploma In Tourism And Hotel Management (4 Years).
So the question is, should I choose Vocational School or some University Courses?
Thank you.
October 12, 2019 at 03:30
Pick one.
October 12, 2019 at 04:08
Hi Simon,
I’m asking about the health insurance requirements.
I’m the derivative and I’m currently working in the US ,so can I make health insurance through my employer for me and my spouse to prevent visa denial ?or we have to buy health care plan?
October 12, 2019 at 19:23
A plan through an employer is normally a good way to have insurance – so that would be your first choice.
October 12, 2019 at 05:20
Hi Simon,
Is the child of my spouse automatically my step-child irrespective of whether there are documents to proof this?
October 12, 2019 at 19:23
Yes – upon marriage.
October 12, 2019 at 06:14
Hi Brit…
1..Am single but i want to marry on December what should i say in my form dv2021?
2.. i did O’ level and i went for police training for a year and i got certificate
And now i am four years expirience..
Tell me what to fill in the form sir?
3..i was born in a district sir, there is no city..what should i say?….should i write that District?
Thank you .Have a gud day
October 12, 2019 at 19:25
1. Unmarried.
2. High school (the choice for the DV entry doesn’t matter).
3. Use your own judgement.
October 12, 2019 at 06:41
Dear Simon,
my details are 2020AF39###
I unlocked my already submitted DS260 to update and did successfully.
Question is do you get a second confirmation email from KCC after unlocking, updating and submitting your new DS260 form?
I got a confirmation for the first, but it has been weeks I re-submitted the updated one and still haven’t got any confirmation email.
Thank you Simon. God Bless.
October 12, 2019 at 19:27
You may or may not. Don’t worry about that. You have a long time until your case number is ready.
October 12, 2019 at 08:20
Hey Brits,
I have tried submitting my form so many times and what keeps coming is “This site can’t be reached ” what could be the problem and can that possibly affect me? This has happened since Monday
October 12, 2019 at 19:29
Try again at a different time of day.
October 12, 2019 at 08:42
Dear sir
I am a Danish resident and am in the process of filling out the entry form for the 2021 DV lottery. I am unsure about what to fill out in the mailing address section e “District/County/Province/State”. This is not part of the standard Danish address format but it is a required field according to the instructions for filling out the form. I am unclear what to enter and I do not want to risk leaving it blank.
Can you please advise what the acceptable way to fill out this field is?
Thank you
October 12, 2019 at 19:31
I don’t live there Anders – so I cannot tell you. But really – this is just common sense. If your country has no such thing, leave it blank.
October 12, 2019 at 10:25
Hi simon. I’m 19 years old (turning 20 in November), not married, graduated from High school and now going to college. Am I allowed to apply to the DV lottery as the son of my parents (in their submission) and by myself?
It means that I would be enrolled as the son of my father, the son of my mother and the submission with my name as the primary entrant.
October 12, 2019 at 19:33
Yes.
October 12, 2019 at 10:50
Hello Brit.
As i told you earlier on am married. Can I change my family name to my husband sur name on birth certificate if it happens I won the dv lottery.?
Can I also change my family name to my husband sur name on my high school degree certificate?
Am askind these questions because i was havind those two documents before I got marry not after married.
please guide me. If it happens I win . I don’t want any stress of processing my case. I want to put documentation in place before am selected
October 12, 2019 at 19:37
Hold your questions until you are a selectee. Your chances of winning this lottery are low.
October 12, 2019 at 12:24
Hello Mr. Brit I’ve read the instructions of 2021 DV entry but I still have some confusion. If a family has children all above the age of 21 but still living with them will they fill the form as no children or will they still have to list their children?
October 12, 2019 at 19:40
You do not list children over 21.
October 12, 2019 at 15:02
Hi, John Simon. How do i enter my name in the lottery for the JNR.
WHERE do place the JNR?
October 12, 2019 at 19:44
Unless it is your actual name, don’t enter it.
October 12, 2019 at 15:32

October 12, 2019 at 15:34
Hello,
As we all know birth certificate/marriage certificate and in my country also the court/police certificates expire or are valid only for 6 months.
If I send to KCC through email the supporting documents now, and the interview will be after some months because I have a cn EU20xxx, should I take to interview new certificates or exactly those which I sent to KCC (though until the interview, they will be older than 6 months)
So, what do I do ?
October 12, 2019 at 19:48
You can renew some documents nearer the interview if needed. Take old and new certs to the interview.
October 12, 2019 at 17:01
Hi Sir,
After applying for the Dv 2021, you get the reference code that you ll need to check in May to know if you have been picked up or not. Is there a way that you can see the details you have putting while applying? Or no way to do that?
Also, for Ds-260 do you have to live in US or can you even live in UK while doing the form? Just asking as they asking you the mailing and US address of mailing…
Thank you
Laura
October 12, 2019 at 19:50
1. No
2. You can live anywhere
October 12, 2019 at 17:50
Hello Sir… It is my first time to apply to the DV Lottery. I am a single woman from an eligible country and have a valid passport. I meet the requirements of education and professional experience, however I am afraid that the job mentioned in my passport (issued in 2015 and valid till 2022) is the old one which does not match. Also, I changed my address. Will they compare the information submitted in the application with the passport? How should I proceed in order to avoid rejection?
Thank you for your time and helpful advice!
October 12, 2019 at 19:51
It won’t matter.
October 12, 2019 at 19:56
Then why did they add the passport requirement this year? I thought it’s a way to detect lying in application.
Thanks again! 🙂
October 12, 2019 at 18:04
Hello Simon! A lot of ppl in EU with high case numbers have taken the first email from KCC to sent their scanned documents. My friend cn is 47k and yesterday night she received the email. Do you have any information about that? What’s happening? Is this a good or bad news?
October 12, 2019 at 19:52
Neither good nor bad. They can ask anyone at any number in any order to submit documents. BUT interviews are scheduled based on case number.
October 12, 2019 at 18:34

2. Yes.
October 13, 2019 at 09:42
Your case number is not high Mosa, my case number is AS26xxx, so dont worry I think you will get interview by May, from which country you are?
October 12, 2019 at 19:15
Dear Brit,
We wife applied for dv2020, doing the application with the mobile and using a photo within the standarts but unfortunatly she forget to use during the application and submiting the photo tool that could be used during the application. Now she is a winer, just to know do you think that this could be a problem? She is a winer does it mean that the photo used is OK?
Regards.
October 12, 2019 at 19:55
It does not mean that for sure. You can only be sure at the interview.
October 12, 2019 at 20:29
BRIT, I have realized, the name arrangement in my passport is the direct opposite of what I have been using all these while. I have no middle name. The surname has now become my First name and my first name now my surname and its the error of the passport office. On all my documents I have the correct arrangement, I just didn’t check the passport when I went for it. Now the closing date for the 2021 dv lottery is few days away, can I go ahead and register and use the same arrangement in the passport and when I win, will this affect me. Thank you.
#desperate Kobby#
October 12, 2019 at 20:37
You are going to have to decide for yourself.
October 12, 2019 at 20:32
is it ok to lighten the background of a photo?
October 12, 2019 at 20:49
Yes, in a very minor way.
October 12, 2019 at 21:04
Hi Simon ,
i have been selected for dv2020 but i don’t have bacalaureat diploma , i worked 26 month as software developer and i have two certificates of training 6 months for web development and 6 months for computer since , if are not acceptable ,what should i do? !!
October 12, 2019 at 23:48
That might be accepted. You will only know at interview.
October 12, 2019 at 21:16
Is it ok if your hair sticks out a little bit on the official tool and does using the tool mean the photo will be accepted on the technical grounds (pixels etc)? Here is my hair sticking out a little https://imgur.com/a/w4cebbL
October 12, 2019 at 23:50
Yes
October 13, 2019 at 00:01
Hi, I applied F2A visa for my spouse in August 2019. I applied DV lottery 2021 for my spouse recently. Would that DV entry affect on my I130 process? If it would affect, how can I cancel or withdraw my DV lottery entry ? I’m confused. Please let me know.
October 13, 2019 at 00:20
No affect.
October 12, 2019 at 21:38
Hi Sam,
Thanks so much for the great, super detailed content you create for all of us! Two questions that I couldn’t find the answers to in the FAQs or videos.
– My boyfriend and I are in a registered partnership [heterosexual relationship]. We live in Europe and I am aware that in some countries, the partnership is equivalent to marriage, but in others no. From what I’ve read it also varies from state to state in the US. Any idea if I should register him while submitting my application?
– I have double nationality. Both countries (Greece, Albania) are eligible. Should I simply go for the one I was born in? Also, does it matter which one I used in a previous application? Do I have to use the same?
Thanks again, have a beautiful day!
October 12, 2019 at 23:54
1. No – Fed/immigration law does NOT recognize registered partnerships. Enter as unmarried.
2. Birth country. Always.
October 12, 2019 at 21:49
Dear Simon;
Hope you are having a good day and i do apologize to disturb you on your weekend.
my question is concerning the I-134 Form.
I will request my aunt or Uncle (who are American Citizens ) to fill it out to prove i will not be a public charge.
My question is , where do they have to file it / send it ?
do i need to have a copy of the filled form when going to the interview?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Simon, my question is that whether this new valid passport has to be from the country of birth that I am eligible to enter the draw? I have dual citizenship as I have immigrated to Canada (have a valid passport from Canada) but my passport from my country of birth is expired now. Thank you
October 13, 2019 at 15:15
No it does not.
October 13, 2019 at 06:56

October 13, 2019 at 09:02
Greetings,
i have seen your youtube videos and i sow all good information. those informations are very helpful unfortunately i think you missed the part 2 which is about ‘sponsor at US’ i think its must or is it? and i need some answers
1. Let said that everything done well and i have called for interview so when do i need to ready to have sponsor at US, and what if i don’t have a sponsor at US at all what should i do, and what if i have and what my sponsor at US should they must have? or is sponsor US is not necessary for getting visa??
2. Regarding high school completion and/or 2 years experience which is SVP Range (7.0 to < )
But let say that i have complit Vocational (In our country after Grade 10th i join college 3 years ) and i have 4 years work experience (6.0 to < ) is there any chance to get visa or should i do something fix before i go to interview??
October 13, 2019 at 15:35
1. Missed it – no. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
2. No – that work experience would not meet the requirements.
October 13, 2019 at 09:48
Hello Brit
You participate in the lottery without your son. And you are selected.
1. By completing the DS 260, is it possible to say that you had a child and that you will not immigrate to the United States to usa with him, without creating a DS 260 for that child?
2. Will the CA accept or disqualify for having forgotten to put the child on the initial entry ???
October 13, 2019 at 15:37
Disqualified.
October 13, 2019 at 11:13
I heard KCC sent the first email for supporting documents to EU 47000, but not those under 25000. Why is this happening this year, is there any change?
And what is the current number for interviews in october?
October 13, 2019 at 15:42
They are sending emails for documents to all case ranges.
Read the VB
October 13, 2019 at 17:44
I have the same situation,my case nr is lower than 15k and still havnt got an email yet.
How can they send to 47k before sending to lower case numbers?
October 13, 2019 at 18:12
Again. The order of sending the emails is NOT to do with case number. Interviews however ARE controlled by case number.
October 13, 2019 at 11:16
Simon hi,
I read this part for Affidafit of Support on your website
“If you intend to show the above you will need to show around $10,000 for each adult, and a bit less for children (for example $25,000 for a family of four, $10,000 for a single person). This can be from a combination of the above.”
Do you know what would be OK for a family of 3. me, wife and 1 year old kid?
October 13, 2019 at 15:43
Still around 25k
October 13, 2019 at 11:37
Hi Brit,
I have been selected for DV 2020. I am unemployed, because I am a student. I am pursuing a Master’s Degree. I will be graduating in June 2020. Can I show my father’s bank statement along with a letter of financial support signed by him?
October 13, 2019 at 15:44
No – he is not a US taxpayer.
October 13, 2019 at 21:17
So what do you suggest I do, if I don’t know any US citizen who can sponsor me?
October 14, 2019 at 02:28
I don’t have a suggestion…
October 13, 2019 at 12:11
Hi Brit
Please I tried to upload my photo to register for Dv 2021several times but, the photo is not displaying only the name appeared on the form.
1. Pls can I submit it like that, without the photo displaying.
2. Or the photo must display before submition.
October 13, 2019 at 15:46
It sounds like your photo is the wrong filetype.
October 13, 2019 at 14:20
GMorning –

Do I have to change my address with USCIS if I’m going back nto home country (to study) ?

Thank you
October 13, 2019 at 15:50
No
October 13, 2019 at 14:29
Hy britsimon, I have a few questions about the dv2021
1, If there was a misspelling and age error on the passport, Do we have to fill the name & age as it’s on the PASSPORT or the birth certificate?
2, If we don’t have a street address(Number), Can we use the road name as an address line in The Maliling Address tabs?
October 13, 2019 at 15:50
1. Those documents should match. Why don’t they?
2. Yes
October 15, 2019 at 15:41
The name is complicated and long to spell in English so i have made a mistake while filing the PASSPORT form, but i didn’t notice until i checked the birth certificate. In order to correct the PASSPORT it will take 3 month minimum (January 2020).
And the age have 4 years different from the birth certificate… It was a bad mistake
October 15, 2019 at 17:45
Ok – well the answer is always to give truthful answers – so answer truthfully even if that means not matching the passport.
October 13, 2019 at 14:53
i have been living together with a woman and we have two children. my country insists that we can have a traditional marriage but has to be supported with a certificate. for the purpose of the dv lottery, can i fill unmarried but include my two children? I am a man.
October 13, 2019 at 15:55
Yes – but if your marriage is considered as a “legal marriage” in your country you should enter as married.
October 13, 2019 at 15:08
Please the mailing address,is it your own address or the person you will stay with in case every thing go through?
October 13, 2019 at 15:53
Hey Sam,
What happens if you misplaced your names in the entry form during registration period?
October 13, 2019 at 15:59
If selected, you can correct it later.
October 13, 2019 at 19:45

I have completed my high school and also a 3 years diploma from a university. I have since been working for 4 years in the retail industry. Which education qualification best suits my profile?
Thanks

Hello sir
October 13, 2019 at 17:53
good evening mr. brit simons , i came from youtube after watching your video about the DV2021 , as i registered before watching your video i had a question which is, if i was born in a country thats elegable, but my nationality is from a country that currently has a travel ban, will they process my application ?
thanks in advance for your noble work .
October 13, 2019 at 18:11
You can be selected, yes.
