Hello Mr brit
Can you please advise me on the following :
I (derivative) am currently living for a few months in a house with my wife (principal), we have been married long before applying to dv (3 years) but moved to this adress only this year which i mentionned in my ds260 form.
However, the adress on my passeport is the previous one (which I mentionned too in the ds260 as a previous adress). While my wife’s passeport has the actual adress on it.
I am keeping my ID and Passeport with the previous adress which is my parent’s home, because it is still valid (parent’s home),
both actual and previous adresses are in the same city, just different neighbourhoods, and it is easier to get paperwork done there since i was born there.
My passeport is almost new and unused, it was made right before the dv2018 results of may, that’s why I kept it on my ds260 instead of having to change all my papers (id/passeport to this new adress that might’ve ended up to be temporary…)
Do you think I should change my passeport or is it ok to keep it that way?
Thank you in advance

I don’t know “procedures” in your country – so use your own judgement.

sorry brit, i forget to tell you that along the yellow paper given to me by the CO,he took my original unversity degree and secondary certificate ,please does that make any sense or hope for me?
October 11, 2017 at 18:06
Brit I think I found the answer on the page of the embassy.
a question where it says city, where I was born in a locality of the city to say something san jose is the locality and the city is sucre that belongs to the state san miguel.
in my passport appears in place of birth san jose, but this is the place not the city “sucre” that I put what appears in my passport? or write town sucre san jose.
October 11, 2017 at 19:43
Just use your best judgement. It is not that critical.

Can I unlock my ds260 forms after I’ve been scheduled for an interview? I want to add name to the other name used section
October 11, 2017 at 20:04
No. Discuss it at the embassy.
October 11, 2017 at 20:20
Hi Brit I am a DV18 selectee with the case number EU11XXX.
I am a student. During the time of filling out the DS260, I was studying abroad as an exchange student for one semester. However, since I wasn’t gonna receive a diploma of any sort, other than just a certificate of attendance, I only wrote down my home university. Now I have finished my exchange program and am still abroad just going to a language course, which is not an official school so I didn’t mention that either.
My question is, do you think İ should unlock the form and add this exchange university information, or should I tell them about this during the interview? I was there only as a visiting student.
October 11, 2017 at 20:57
Just at the interview.
October 11, 2017 at 20:41
Hello Brit, I got rejected as the US embassy and here is why I think I was rejected. I was granted a VISA twice already B1/B2 and during those VISA interviews I was never asked about Dv lottery but this time I was asked about whether I have applied for immigration and my answer was No, then I was asked how many brothers I have in the US and I replied with 2 US Citizens and 2 on Green cards.
Then I was asked why I didnt immigrate and I simply replied with that I have had a good job here and I had no intentions of immigrating at that time.
Then the CO gets up from his desk with my passport to check something and then comes back and asks me this. Do you have any intentions of Asylum or TPS and I said no and then he asked how can you assure that. I replied with well because I have a very good job ($12,000+) a month I have strong ties such as house , cars etc then he asked me did you apply for Dv lottery? I said yes (I am a winner of the dv lottery) then 1 minute of typing on his computer he said Sorry I cannot issue you a visa at this time.
Now I am most certain its either because I am Syrian or Its because I am a dv lottery winner
What do you think Brit?
Regards
October 11, 2017 at 21:10
I don’t know any more than you do.

Hi Simon. I and my wife participatedo in the dv 2017 program but wasn’t successful. Now we are at longer head, (not in good term).
She is planning to divorce me. We no longer live together due to confusion.
Now my question is: Can I play as divorce , while she is processing or planning the divorce document.?
October 11, 2017 at 23:54
No. Only once you are divorced.
October 12, 2017 at 00:38
my husband is a DV Lottery 2018 winner and he is shop manager and Purchasing officer does he qualify in the work experience because he does not have education.
Thanks
October 12, 2017 at 00:39
I am no longer living with my two kids and it is impossible to have their photos now.
1- Is it possible to apply to DV lottery without my kids photos and just listing them. And then make it available if I am selected before the interview.
2- Is my application will be disqualified if I used adjusted photos-PhotoShop of my kids?
October 12, 2017 at 01:29
1. No
2. Possibly.

Hi Brit,
Can we enter USA, have the passport stamped(LPR) and come back to home country for six months. In that six months , i want to sell my properties and at the same time il be working as i was in my home country. Can i work in my own country for 6 months after the LPR has been stamped.
Thanks.
October 12, 2017 at 12:02
It’s a good question, Int see what he says, I think you hace to wait for the green card to arrive unless the procces of sending it begins when the stamp your passport
If it’s the case maybe you should wait in your own country ( less than 6 months) to shorten the time
Let’s wait for the answer , it’s a good question
October 12, 2017 at 13:49
They only start producing the card when you enter for the first time and have paid the fee.
October 12, 2017 at 13:56
No problem – that is quite typical. Always check the FAQ please
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/timeline-of-first-entry-and-absences-from-usa/
October 12, 2017 at 09:22
Hi,
My greencard did not arrive in the mail. When i called the uscis, they said i have to do biometrics appointment which doesnt make sense because my husband didnt do either but he got his greencard anyway. What do yout think? Thanks.
October 12, 2017 at 13:55
Sometimes the photos etc gathered at the embassy are not suitable – so they need a biometric appointment. Nothing to worry about.

November vb released
October 12, 2017 at 12:09
Hi Simon,
Why do you think EU numbers are still going so slow? up to 6000 for December.
Do you think it will continue like this? If so this means that many candidates will be out.
By the way, my case number is EU33XXX.
thanks much
October 12, 2017 at 13:46
Case denisity decreases later – so the VB will speed up then.
October 12, 2017 at 14:08
Hi Simon, maybe I misunderstood your point here: in looking at previous years statistics for EU, the first couple of months of each year had the highest pace, while the following months numbers incresed with a much slower pace. And for this year are you saying it’s going in the other way? Thanks very much!

October 12, 2017 at 14:00
Hi Brit,
Thanks for the help and useful information. I kindly need your advice.
I won the DV lottery 2017, got my GC now and temporary in the UK to round things up. I won as Ghanaian and at the time of applying, I only had Ghanaian passport. I got my Immigrant visa in February 2017 at the US embassy in London.
But before my interview in February, I was due for my British citizenship. I applied for my British naturalisation last year December 2016 but only got a response back from UKVI this year March 2017. I am now a British citizen.
My question is, when next I travel to NY, since I have my plastic GC, do I need to always enter with Ghanaian passport or I can use my British passport? Also do I need to notify USCIS of my new British nationality?
Thanks

October 12, 2017 at 16:56
Brit,
I woke up to see the VB with the SA region decreasing…(190-325-425) does this mean your prediction chart doesn’t apply anymore?
I’m SA 9xx with your SA region chart predicting March/April 2018… where do you think I stand now if they are moving so slowly?
As always, thank you for your information.
October 12, 2017 at 22:46
This is NORMAL progression. Nothing changed. Relax.

October 13, 2017 at 04:32
Hi Brit!! thanks for the help. I am a DV 2018 winner living in the US. I just submitted my I 485 form. My question is it possible to ask for the interview in a different USCIS state office that I am living in. I live in Minneapolis and the uscis office here is very slow in processing the applications. As of July 31, they are still working on the applications of June 2016. i am just super worried, and do not want to miss my case before 30 September.
October 13, 2017 at 04:44
No – they assign you to the FO based on address.
DV cases don’t follow the normal processing times.

Good morning britsimon. Really,I am very trustful about your information that you always gave me.
You said to me that you had reduced your chance of getting visa after the yellow paper given to me but today ,I have recieved an email from the embessy and they asked me to send them the full name ,the address and the relation to the person i am intending to live with in the united state. and imediately i sent them through the same email.
My question :is there any hope as they asked me the bone fida relationship?
Please help me by your experience of like this case.
October 13, 2017 at 05:56
Yes – that is a possibility. Answer them IMMEDIATELY. You only have until the 18th when the rules change.
October 13, 2017 at 06:15
Hey SImon, if someone was to choose High school completion as their qualifcation instead of work experience, does the grades you received which is shown on your SHS certificate affect you negatively say you didn’t really do particularly well in your subjects despite receiving a certificate, Are the CO’s allowed to make a discriminatory discretion to deny someone a visa in such instances?
October 13, 2017 at 14:42
Yes, poor grades can mean you don’t meet the required level.
October 13, 2017 at 06:45
Hello sir
My stepfather won the lottery with my mum in 2005 but I was not listed.
I have now been selected in 2018 . Can that cause a problem for them when the CO gets to know I was not listed. Thank you

I don’t know.
October 13, 2017 at 07:23

I want to ask if I’m able to come with my mother who’s petitioned by my grandfather to US even though we already paid for my visa and I already have my DS-260 Confirmation but I’m still waiting for the notification letter that they have received all the requested documents and appointment interview letter.
My grandparents and aunt keeps insisting that I will be able to go to US with my mother but from what I searched online that this is impossible.
