Hi Simon, as now Africa is current, is it possible that KCC specifies a cut in the visa bulletin the following month to Africa?
Thank you
July 3, 2018 at 03:55
It is technically possible, yes.
July 3, 2018 at 01:22
Are we still receiving 2NL for August as many cases have been recently notified that they are now at the embassy for interview date processing ?
July 3, 2018 at 03:57
No I don’t think any more August 2NLs will be sent.

Congratulations!
July 3, 2018 at 09:00
Hi Simon,
First, thanks a lot for all your help through that stressful year.
My wife and I got current for August (EU), received our 2NL, and date and time of our appointment.
One of the next step is to go to: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/fr-fr/iv/signup/iv and REGISTER the appointment.
Because we have already been though the immigration process for previous non immigrant visas, we can’t complete the process, saying that we already have an account.
Do you think we should create a new account? with a new email address?
Is it something you are familiar with?
Best,
Antoine
July 3, 2018 at 14:42
No I am not familiar with it. It is simply creating a courier account. Use your own judgement.
July 3, 2018 at 09:24
HI Brit,
In one of your answer you are saying ” I don’t think any more August 2NLs will be sent.”
does this mean that it is over for those who did not receive any 2NL yet.
we can stop hoping for an interview even if Africa went current in August?
Case : AF51***
July 3, 2018 at 14:37
No it does NOT mean that. Some cases will be interviewed in September.
July 3, 2018 at 10:39
Hi Brit
I read in an article of yours that a bank account (or savings) equal to US$10,000 should be fine in lieu of an AoS I-134. I have approximately that amount in my account in Rands (being from South Africa). I also have a vehicle for which I will obtain an Offer to Purchase for around US$5500 (curse the ZAR’s volatility).
Of course the AoS would be better to have, unfortunately I can’t get one. I want to know if the amount above +- US$15500 would put one person above the poverty line and hopefully show a CO that I am able to support myself.
Thank you so much for all of the information on this site, it really is invaluable and I cannot express my gratitude enough. My interview is in a few days, I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hello Connor
Check this interview experience from Johannesburg: https://britsimonsays.com/interview-experience-stories/comment-page-11/#comment-126336
It might answer some of your questions
July 3, 2018 at 14:31
JHB are known to ask for an I-134. If you can get one – do so.
July 3, 2018 at 22:09
Hi, Please help me, My uncle applied for me . He made an error on my date of birth. In fact both date, month and the year all wrong. He checked it and I won. I’m soo confused, What should I do?
July 3, 2018 at 23:11
You can correct the birthdate in the DS260 – however, with multiple mistakes there is increased risk.
July 6, 2018 at 23:19
Hi Britsimon
I submitted the end of May but haven’t gotten any response is the anything I can do?
July 7, 2018 at 15:27
Whenever you as a vague question with no case number, an angel dies.
July 3, 2018 at 10:48

July 3, 2018 at 13:25

July 3, 2018 at 10:52
Hi Brit,
I have interview in August. Still I’m looking for a sponsor. Can anyone who is a native US person, give a sponsor for me?
Thank you.
July 3, 2018 at 14:29
It should be someone you know – or at least a friend of a friend.
July 3, 2018 at 12:54
Hello Brit,
How are you doing ? Please help me with the below.
1. Can I use my Present address as a Previous address also ?
this is because i returned back from college and started living in the same address before i went to college.
2. Regarding Vaccination documents what explanation could be fine if I select No?
Thanks in Advance
July 3, 2018 at 14:27
1. Yes
2. Anything – it doesn’t matter.
July 3, 2018 at 13:14
Hello dear,
I read some sad stories that happen in DV2017. When the visas run out at September. Do you think this year DV2018 will happen the same?
July 3, 2018 at 14:25
Possibly (EU region).
July 3, 2018 at 15:22
Thank you
July 3, 2018 at 16:30
If they don’t redistribute visas for EU, they’re really gonna miss big from the 50k that should be issued, and we already know AF and AS won’t reach the targeted quota, so if EU won’t benefit from this and so many visas are left unused, what’s the point Brit ? I really don’t get it
July 3, 2018 at 16:51
There is no law that says they have to give out all the visas. They may not hit the target this year – that’s not a problem from their point of view.
July 3, 2018 at 17:06
Hi Brit ,
Please start a job at KCC !!!!! You would know what to do with all those leftover visas!!!!
July 3, 2018 at 17:12
They can’t afford me.
July 3, 2018 at 17:31
Lol ?
I think you are right, I just wish you did?
July 3, 2018 at 14:39
Hi Simon
did the same spouse (not the principle) photo was submitted for DV2017 (before the marriage) used again in DV2018 can effect ?
July 3, 2018 at 14:48
Probably not.
July 3, 2018 at 15:23
I meant for People who process AOS . Thank you buddy
July 3, 2018 at 15:18
Hello buddy. I read some sad stories on DV lottery in 2017 when visa run out last year September. Do u think this will happen in dv 2018. Thank you.
July 3, 2018 at 15:24
He has alreadyanswered probably
July 3, 2018 at 15:48
I am sorry buddy I repeat my last questions twice by mistake. Sorry. To make it more clear. I am processing my GC in AOS and I read some sad stories last September 2017 that get visa run out. Are AOS going to run out this year DV 2018? Thanks
July 3, 2018 at 16:19
I already answered.
July 3, 2018 at 17:20
Thank u
July 3, 2018 at 16:36
Hello britsimon!
Can we change sponsor (we previously filled it in the ds260) during our visa interview? If yes, how can it be done?
Regards!!
July 3, 2018 at 16:58
Yes – you just inform the CO.
July 3, 2018 at 16:49
Dear BritSimon,
Trust this message finds you well. As you are in picture, almost all cases in Afghanistan is under Administrative Process due to security background check. My passports are with US Embassy, since 3 months and now by July 2oth, 2018, I have to participate in an International workshop though I will use UNLP for subject trip but I need to have my personal passport for my identity recogniation during the trip. I send an e-mail to Embassy and they will return my passport based on my request. My question is .. What you think, is it effecting the visa process or delay in issuance of visa? Thanks in advance for your usual support.
Best Regards,
July 3, 2018 at 17:11
Yes that could cause a delay later if you get cleared through AP.
July 3, 2018 at 17:22
Hi
Just want to be really sure I am on the right tract.
I am AOS applicant through DV lottery. My Case number is current on the website July 2018
I applied to I-485, received NOS. and just waiting for fingerprint screening.
I never applied DS-260 ( I was told not to, since i will do AOS, I see some applicants applied regarless )
I received AOS letter from KCC as i was intending to apply AOS.
I have paid DV processing fee.
So, At this point, I will just have to wait for USCIS directions and notifications? or Still need to contact NVC or KCC?
I would appreciate the reply. Thank you in advance
July 3, 2018 at 17:32
I recommend that AOS cases file their DS260 – but it’s your choice. As for the process – all you need is at the link below.

July 3, 2018 at 17:39
Where can i checkmy case status
July 4, 2018 at 15:09
Well thanks. I completed DS-260 too. Thanks for the recommendation. lets see how it goes
July 3, 2018 at 18:20
Hi BritSimon,
I am Dv winner 2018 from Libya. I have my interview July 26th in Tunisia. As most people know, the situation in Libya is very bad right now and I lost my house due to war and I am currently not living in my hometown because it is very unsafe. The travel ban says they are going to consider case by case and evaluate them. Do you think if I show up to the interview and explain the situation to them I can still get approved? and do you recommend that I take any documents with me to prove my case? Like police report and pictures of my house destroyed?? and what other documents should I bring?
Thank you so much brit for all the help.
July 3, 2018 at 18:46
If you are affected by the terms of the ban, nothing will help. The DV is not granted for need/humanitarian grounds.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 2018 DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT
VISA PROGRAM (DV-2018)
Program Overview
The Department of State administers the Congressionally-mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program
annually. Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides for a class of
immigrants known as “diversity immigrants” from countries with historically low rates of immigration
to the United States. For Fiscal Year 2018, 50,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available. There is no
cost to register for the DV program.
Applicants who are selected in the program (“selectees”) must meet simple but strict eligibility
requirements to qualify for a diversity visa. The Department of State determine selectees through a
randomized computer drawing. The Department of State distributes diversity visas among six
geographic regions and no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in
any one year.
For DV-2018, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000
natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years:
Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El
Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea,
United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.
Changes in eligibility this year: Ecuador is eligible for DV-2018.
Eligibility
Requirement #1: Individuals born in countries whose natives qualify may be eligible to enter.
If you were not born in an eligible country, there are two other ways you might be able to qualify.
Was your spouse born in a country whose natives are eligible? If yes, you can claim your
spouse’s country of birth—provided that both you and your spouse are named on the selected
entry, are found eligible and issued diversity visas, and enter the United States simultaneously.
This is what we call instructions of the DV 2018 which means 50000 visas are to be given out i want people to go read it like me i don’t Know if the dv has become a game where the selection is done twice? Why will people win the lottery and still be compelled to conditions nobody will proof me wrong it means Trump has influenced the lottery in 2015 there was nothing like current on the visa bulletin the issue of being current came in 2016,2017.This is clear sign that the Dv lottery will no longer exist in the nearest future. The kCC do not respect the instructions of the dv put in place by themselves it so disturbing.
July 4, 2018 at 00:02
I’m struggling to understand your point.
July 4, 2018 at 02:08
“For Fiscal Year 2018, 50,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available.”
AVAILABLE meaning to be given or not based on pace and processing not guaranteed to be distributed. Also there is no rule that says that modifications aren’t possible during the current fiscal year. If Trump was as powerful as you think, they would be no DV lottery at all… DV2019 is about to be processed so what are your sources to claim it won’t exist anymore? If you’re familiar with this blog, you already know the deal: wait and see! 1NL never says “you won” it says “you’re selected for further processing” so it is quite clear you are not sure you’ll get one until the actual successful interview. there is no double selection, it’s the normal procedure. There’s always been more selectees than visas… so yes kcc respects the rules and sorts out truthful and valid applications from fraudulent and invalid ones as so many selectees dont actually qualify or tell the truth
July 4, 2018 at 22:38
I think you are getting me wrong in the previous years all those below 50000 go in for their interviews which means they received the 2nls before going in for an interview but in the last two years there is this issue of not sending the 2nls normally immediately the case numbers are up to 24000 or 38000 like this year there is a kind of game to say they won’t published the cutoff on the visa bulletin again in the last three visa bulletins at this level the dv winners become confused to know if you will received the 2Nl or not. When they say winning is not a guarrantee it at this level let me tell you if you go the embassy with fraudulent document s or you do not meet the requirements to be qualified to get the visa the embassy won’t give you the visa and met be other reasons .My brother read the message kCC sent to you when you write to them they themselves say it that they have the ability to disqualify or say you are eligible for the visa only the embassy will do that. But the embassy does that you need to received your notification letter from KCC as a dV winner but what disturbs me is some people are current this year and don’t even received the 2Nl worst of all some higher case numbers do received the 2nls which is something that has never happened.Only KCC said they treat cases according to case numbers it even seen on the visa bulletin and that what they were initially doing before when they started treating cases of dv 2018 early this year the visa bulletin was clear nobody argued them but immediately the visa bulletin was published for August interviews the issue of being current came in so many people awaiting for the 2nls became confused and disturbed most of us are wicknessing it now in my humble opinion I will prefer KCC or the American government tell the world the truth about what is going on with the dv lottery let people know officially to the best of my knowledge it has never been normal to see people who are dv winners with case numbers 34000 3800 4000 almost a dozen at the 2nd to the last visa bulletin still hoping to received the 2Nl.I insist I did not say Trump has stopped the dv I will say it this way Trump is influencing the dv lottery and if Trump is to be the president of America for a long period of time then there is that risk of the dv to be cancelled.Dv numbers which were of high risk were numbers above 50000 before ,instead now a days even numbers below 40000 are risky numbers it so pathetic to see such I hope people are getting my illustration very well.
July 4, 2018 at 23:33
It’s hard to read all this because of the lack of punctuation. But anyway – yes this year has been odd. Every year is different, and almost every year there is someone saying something isn’t fair. This isn’t a precise science, and getting a Green Card is not a right or a guarantee. Participation is optional. bout telling the world about the DV lottery – I think you overestimate the importance of DV. It is less than 5% of immigration. In the big picture – it isn’t as important as you think. However, the truth is – they are running the lottery according to the laws established WAY before Trump turned up…
July 5, 2018 at 19:19
thank you so much for the prompt response!! I have heard that I can apply for a waiver, do you think that would help/ make a difference??
July 5, 2018 at 19:21
Not unless you have a reason to apply for the waiver. Nothing you have said thus far suggests you have a reason.
July 4, 2018 at 00:32
Where does one go for medicals in Johannesburg ?
July 4, 2018 at 01:11
You shouldn’t need to ask if you are following the instructions you have been given. It is critical that you read the instructions.
July 4, 2018 at 01:30
Holla is this a positive reply (Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing}?how long does it take to receive 2NL after that answer from KCC in your opinion ?Thank you so much.
July 4, 2018 at 03:18
It simply means your DS260 is processed.
July 4, 2018 at 03:54
2019AS
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for being a valued U.S. Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) customer. Your online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application Form(DS-260) has been submitted.
Whats the difference with his email? Ive submitted but i didnt get email about pending further review etc. When do i get that email like his?
July 4, 2018 at 04:53
DV2019 does not start until October 1st so they won’t review your application when there is still about 12 weeks of DV2018 cases to process @Penny
July 5, 2018 at 08:36
i’m sorry but the reason people asks question in britsimonsays.com and not yourusernamesays.com is because brit has credibility while you’re not.
the best you can do to help people is to leave the answer to Brit.
July 5, 2018 at 14:29
Actually – the answer given was accurate. Please leaving the decisions to me whether I leave an answer or not.
July 4, 2018 at 05:55
The pending email is sent WAAY down the road – and only if you check status. For now – relax. Nothing to do.
July 4, 2018 at 05:01
hi . we revived 2NL from KCC .t would like to know that i have to reconfirm the appointment with sri Lankan us embassy pls let me know sir…
July 4, 2018 at 05:56
What do the instructions say?
July 4, 2018 at 09:53
Hello Britsemon
Please accept my deepest greetings. I am a dv LOTTERY AF2018 winner. Case number : 42###
I have already completed and confirmed my DS.260 form in which I mentioned that I am a married woman without children, yet now I have given birth to a baby boy and I have no Idea if I need to ask for DS260 reopening to adjust or I only have to bring his passport to the Us embassy the day of the Interview.
If i’m going to reopen my ds, do i need to send them the birth certificat?
Thank u sir
July 4, 2018 at 13:56
Ideally you should add the child before scheduling. Adding after scheduling is more difficult – so act fast.

July 4, 2018 at 11:26
Hello Brit,I was attended Interview yesterday, but the visa officer ask me evidence of relationship with my wife, and he returned my passport and give me a yellow paper and tick on evidence of relation check box,and told to me,submit evidence and passport on security counter with sealed envelop,
what is the document i need to submit ?
my case status now showing on AP, is it possible to get visa or not possible ?
may i know the chance ?
July 4, 2018 at 11:56
Hello Billy. My comment to your question will not be as satisfying as our great man here Simon’s, however I feel I am free to express my view since I started spending lots of time reading and getting involved on this blog lately. My DV case no 2019EU18xxx, understandably so.
Simple and straightforward answer to your question would be “MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE”.
I assume you have already provided this at the interview.
If you got married after may 2017 and your wife obviously is not on your initial DV entry, then you will have to convince CO that this marriage is not done for solely taking advantage of DV program by showing some
what is the document i need to submit ? genuine photos, relationship messages etc relating prior to May 2017 (date when you knew you have been selected).
my case status now showing on AP, is it possible to get visa or not possible ? if you can convince CO, I believe so.
may i know the chance ? depends on your authencity of your marriage.
July 4, 2018 at 12:16
I already submitted government verified original Married certificate and translation copies,
translator told to me ,photos, gift bills, etc. i was collected around 40 photos on my computer ,phone, i was print it today, of our relationship is real and i have wedding photos also , and wedding hall bills, jewelries bill
is it enough for evidence?
July 4, 2018 at 12:27
any of those evidences relate to older period? (prior to May 2017)
July 4, 2018 at 13:21
yes i have some evidence before may 2017 also
July 4, 2018 at 13:41
Provide the evidence of the relationship as requested. Any photos, evidence of trips taken together, phone records, text messages – use your imagination. That evidence should be before the selection.
It is possible to get approved, but you should understand that there could be other things being checked while you are on AP – so I cannot guess your chances.
July 4, 2018 at 14:16
Brit I have some photos of evidence and wedding photos and wedding hall booking bills, makeup artist bill, photo graphic bills, and hotel booking, photos are before wedding, after wedding, and old photos also
July 4, 2018 at 14:18
OK – that is useful – but it is all about the wedding. How about proof of the relationship prior to the wedding?
July 4, 2018 at 15:33
i have some photos also before wedding proof, and i have a birthday present jewelry ring bill ,is it ok ?
July 4, 2018 at 16:07
I can’t say “it’s OK”. Only the CO can.
July 5, 2018 at 00:34
@Billy,
I had exactly the same issue as yours, CO asked us to send them evidence of our relationship before marriage and we did send them around 13 photos from diferrent places we had been to and all of them were before our marriage, and my case status was on AP like around 10 days then they emailed us to bring them our passports, my wife took them and then they stamped our visas in just 2 days after that. So the photos were enough in our case.
July 4, 2018 at 21:24
Pls which country are u from …
July 4, 2018 at 11:34
Thanks Brit for your continued support and advice, I’m an Af region 2018winner.i was living with a man with whom we had kids together though not regally married but just a come we stay relationship, later he become violent and I decided to walk out of the relationship,we were separated by the local authority where both him and I were served with a letter from the chief ordering him to continue supporting the kids, so when playing the lottery I initially entered as separated since that what I thought I was, after following your blogs and those interviewed before I understand that the Embesy does not recognize come we stay relationship, so I submitted my Ds 260as single, 1,can this cause denial at the interview? 2.does the Co give chance to explain?
July 4, 2018 at 13:39
1. Possibly
2. Yes
July 5, 2018 at 06:17
Thanks for your time and services, sorry for the bother but do you think it’s worth giving it a trial and continue with the process??? Kindly answer me if it were you in this situation. Once again thanks in advance
July 5, 2018 at 06:35
You’ll have to leave your kids and immigrate alone “EVEN” if you get approved. Is it worth giving a trial? that’s a question to you.
July 5, 2018 at 14:19
Why would she have to leave the kids??? PLease be careful in answering people. I know your intentions are good, but you don’t know enough.
July 5, 2018 at 08:06
The problem is not leaving with the kids? Their father have no problem with that, my worry playing as legally separated but from the local authority despite being not legally married, while I should have entered unmarried.waiting for Brit’s response kindly
July 5, 2018 at 14:26
Yes – please ignore the comment about having to leave the kids. As long as you have custody papers that won’t be a problem.
July 5, 2018 at 14:17
If what you have told me is 100% true, then you don’t have a great risk.
July 5, 2018 at 20:25
Thanks alot@Brit,i believe that God will intervene in this, I have witnessed alot of people who have already been approved and since the time of winning they have been following your blog, infact we have learnt alot from your blog. May God bless you abundantly for enlightening many like I who didn’t understand much about how to go about the whole process. Thanks for the good work
July 5, 2018 at 20:29
I always think it’s ironic that God (or the gods) uses an atheist to explain the process to people of different faiths.
July 4, 2018 at 16:08
Hi Sir, I got married while awaiting my interview appointment and KCC has unlocked and resent my DS260 to include my spouse, I will resend the DS260 tomorrow. My question is, if my DS260 was next in line to processed before I requested for it, will KCC place my case in similar near position to processed or will they throw me at the back of the line as if my case wasn’t there before?
July 4, 2018 at 16:34
No
July 4, 2018 at 16:27
hi Simon
im going to have the interview in this august, im a dv lottery winner, im from morocco, my documents are all prepared, my medical test is scheduled, I see in some of your articles that the affidavit of support is mentioned and that I should have it before the interview, except that in the instruction of the dv website is not mentioned; can you please explain to me that, is that necessary to have it.
Thank you!
July 5, 2018 at 06:30
You need to show some evidence that you have some assets and won’t be a public charge in US. US government will not be happy to give you a permanent residence and pay for your living. Common sense.
July 5, 2018 at 15:36
The affidavit of support In Morocco is not necessary.
“There are several African countries where the “host” system serves to satisfy the requirements. If the selectee is planning to stay with a host, they could be asked what is the relationship between host and selectee. If there is a good relationship (family, or close friend) the Consular Officer is allowed to use their discretion to take that as evidence that the selectee will not become a public charge”
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
July 5, 2018 at 18:17
It is not accurate to say Morocco never use the affidavit of support. We have to be careful with such bold statements. Generally they don’t ask for it – but they can, and they have asked for it.
July 5, 2018 at 22:38
Maria. Could send me pm. Im from morrocco too. I could help you as i learned too much at this blog. Ikhenaton@gmail
July 4, 2018 at 16:43
Mr Simon. My case still at NVC and am anticipating september 2018 DV interview. If the Co were to ask for proof of relationship between my I-134 affidavit provider and myself, what will be the best proof sir
July 4, 2018 at 21:04
I don’t know – whatever is real.
July 5, 2018 at 04:20
Dear sir

Emigrating takes guts and determination. You have FAR more advantage than most. You may not have what it takes – only you can decide.
July 5, 2018 at 06:24
Just compare the quality of life and freedom you have now to the potential one you’ll have. Be prepared to start from scratch in US. There are millions out there who would take the opportunity you have. Pursue your dream !

Dear simon please help
My interview was on 3 july and my visa was approved and they took our passports
But my statuts still continue to show ready
Today we got an email from the embassy asking about each my husband made entry and exit to and from my country and the purpose of the visit. We have been travelling for vacation to our home country every year for a 12 years now
1. How can we provide him with this info , i mean from where will we find this info since he has the passports including all the stamps?
2. Why doesnt he just check the stamps on the passport?
July 5, 2018 at 11:23
Thank you simon the problem is solved
July 5, 2018 at 11:31
Hi Rody, can you please share on here what you did to solve the problem, thanks
July 5, 2018 at 14:36
in Saudi arabia we have an online system that keeps all the records of our entry and exit
also I emailed the number of the old passport that has the rest of the stamps
July 5, 2018 at 14:22
1. They are asking for an explanation of the purpose for each visit. You just gave me that (vacation).
2. Because the stamps don’t provide the purpose.
July 5, 2018 at 14:40
thanks a lot they told me that the application forwarded for processing
1.where is it being processed here in the embassy or in kcc?
2.is this a good sign since my status still show ready,?
July 5, 2018 at 15:08
1. Embassy mainly, but they might also be performing checks with other agencies.
2. Not good, not bad. Meaningless.
July 5, 2018 at 07:44
Hi simon
I’m dv loterry winner 2018 I have question about sponsor . the sponsor that I have sent me thre papers I134 , w2 and 1040 the problem that bother is I134 because there are field that he left them empty for exemple “relationship to sponsor ” , “wholly or partialy dependent to me he didn’t choose any one ” and I want to inform you that relationship between him an me he is friend of my brother and I’m going to live with him for the firsts mounths , I have noticed other problem I read the instruction about how to fill up I134 and they say that if you will leave somme fileds empty then put “N/A” and he left them empty “blank” so will this cause problem the day of interview , thank’s for your hard work
July 5, 2018 at 14:23
Insert “family friend”.
July 5, 2018 at 14:43
For the empty filed should I leave them empty or put “N/A” and for the occupation must I choose one between wholy or partial dependent or it’s ok
July 5, 2018 at 15:09
Use your own judgement.
July 5, 2018 at 08:16
Do you expect a second draw in 2019?
July 5, 2018 at 14:27
It is too early to know.
July 5, 2018 at 10:46
Dear Simon, in a recent post a couple of days ago you replied to a question saying that visas could run out at September possibly in EU region…
Sorry but I am not sure with my English, could you please explain a bit more what did you mean?
Thanks very much!
Have good day,
Fausto
July 5, 2018 at 12:13
Hi Fausto,
As per my understanding, EU quota for 2018 is 36.6 % of 50 00 DV limit which is roughly about 18 300 visas.
Current visa bulletin for august is at 23 325 which suggests slower processing than previous years.
This could be due to lesser automatic disqualifications from EU and more people going ahead with further processing or some other reason. It looks strange this year. No one knows for sure except for KCC.
EU visas may not run out, instead it seems embassies need to give more visas to EU since the bulletin numbers are low. Until now good benchmark case number for EU looked something like 37 000. Now ? they don’t look good. Hope that helps.
July 5, 2018 at 14:05
@kemal the 1st part of your comment was correct then you got the facts confused. There are indeed lower cut off numbers for EU because visas are issued faster among low case numbers. There is absolutely a chance they’ll run out since they have already given out over 15000 visas for EU cases between October and June (CN 23XXX will never get a 2NL. Anyway, the very last Visa bulletin will be released in less than 2 weeks so we will know for sure the last range of CN called for September interviews
July 5, 2018 at 14:23
thanks for your comment.
you said: “visas are issued faster among low case numbers”
Case numbers are assigned randomly if I am right, so why would low CN and high CN visa issuance time differ? Issuance time will depend on each individual case. My point was: DV2018 whole process for EU is much slower than previous ones.
July 5, 2018 at 15:07
More density in lower case numbers means visas are issued faster for less VB progression.
July 5, 2018 at 15:39
@kemal you seem a bit confused about the dv process, which is ok, but lucky for you, you have the opportunity to educate yourself on the matter through this blog.
You have a few months ahead before hopefully being sent 2NL so take this time to read the FAQ so you understand the facts.
Numbers may be assigned randomly but they are very much treated in order. Low case numbers first, high case numbers last so the smaller your number, the better…it is why there is a Visa bulletin and cut off numbers. Again, the data is available for us all to see so it will be very easy for you to verify the veracity of my comments anyway, and good luck. 2018 might have been a different year compared to others but a constant remains: cases are called in order, following VB cut offs every month. Only differences: more selectees, lower case number ranges called by month and higher Visa issuance per month for EU.
July 5, 2018 at 15:04
Agreed.
July 5, 2018 at 15:45
Thanks Simon, especially when some people like to question my comments. All I do is look at the data. You and Xarthisius simplify it for us to be able to understand exactly what is going on. If I’m able to get it, I know everyone can. Its really not that complicated once you both have done the hard work before hands.
July 5, 2018 at 18:24
Hello guys,
But from the charts it looks like that there are many 23xxx cases in ready status. So why they will never get visa?
Many thanks!
July 5, 2018 at 18:32
Some people will not show up top their interviews, some will be refused etc.
July 5, 2018 at 19:14
Many thanks for quick response!
But it does’nt mean that 23xxx cases will not get 2NLs right?
July 5, 2018 at 19:22
I didn’t say anything like that.
July 5, 2018 at 19:30
ILeftMyHeartInSF said that, that’s why I asked the question. Thank you again and sorry for confusion.
July 5, 2018 at 19:52
*there is a probability that CN 23XXX (or whatever the exact cut off number for the August interviews) will never get a 2NL.
Typed fast so I omitted a few words. But again, the most important thing to do is wait and see but also be prepared to not get a 2NL for EU selectees with CN > 24XXX if the pace remains the same
July 5, 2018 at 20:17
I see what you meant, thanks for the response!
July 5, 2018 at 14:30
That needs no further explanation.
July 5, 2018 at 11:02
My father is allotted with EDV 2019 .My Date of Birth is 1996 May 31, I am above 21 years by now can I be enlisted in DS-260 form for child immigrating to the US at a later date joining. And Next question can children (Daughter) who is already married and abive 21 can be enlisted in DS -260 form for possible later date to join?
July 5, 2018 at 14:33
Children over 21 cannot receive derivative visas. The process to sponsor them to join later takes many years.
July 5, 2018 at 18:55
Does we have to mention the names of all child in DS-260?
Is this child immigrating to the US at a later date join you?
What should be answer for this question while filling DS-260 and if mentioned yes ,could this increase chances of my father getting rejected?
and if mentioned yes does this affect while applying for students visa?
July 5, 2018 at 19:20
Just answer the questions. They are very straightforward.
July 5, 2018 at 15:03
Hi brit
the question in ds260 from is your mailing address same your present address what is the right answer YES or NO? I,m not in US but I provided my friend permanent address in US will it be ok if I answer YES?
July 5, 2018 at 15:10
Your present address is not USA. Your mailing address is sometimes different – but generally not.
July 5, 2018 at 15:13
Hi and thanks for this website. I am on the 2018 DV program and my case Number is 2018AF35xxxxxxxx. Due to some constraints, I did late submission of my DS260 on July 1, 2018 and it was accepted by KCC. With the time left for the program to finish, Can I hope to be scheduled for interview?
July 5, 2018 at 15:15
I don’t know.
July 5, 2018 at 18:21
Hello Brit,
I’ve received my 2NL and my interview will be on the 2nd of August.
My girlfriend of 5 years and I have been planning on getting married this summer. She is an engineering student and she still has one more year of studies before getting her diploma, and we are starting to regret not having gotten married before submitting the DS since the procedure was pretty clear and we knew exactly what to do …
Now we’re planning to get married after I get my Visa in order to avoid any complications.
I want to know the exact procedure that we must go through so that she can get her visa as well and join me after she finishes her studies.
Also, I’m quite concerned if this will take a long time to be processed by the embassy, is there any possibility that her Visa will be refused?
Thank you for your efforts.
July 5, 2018 at 18:29
Get married after interview. She won’t get a GC through the DV process. Once you have moved to the USA and have a steady income (enough to support you both) you can start sponsorship for her – and that will take about 2 years.
July 5, 2018 at 20:33
hi Simon…God bless you …
I received my 2NL and I received letter from the embassy and my interview on August.
there is no request from the embassy to make medical test…but I did it….
1-is that ok ???
2-why the embassy didn’t ask me to do the medical test??
July 5, 2018 at 21:11
1. Yes
2. Because they expect you to have read the instructions.
July 5, 2018 at 21:20
Please what case number are you and when did you receive it please.
July 6, 2018 at 08:32
Please can I know your case number?
July 5, 2018 at 20:44
Brit first of all i greet you in all ways i possible and in whatever language, well this whole drama jst came into light by making AF current yet kcc from experience knows clearly that was sucidal as this year was an overselected year. Wat a joke! No qn
July 5, 2018 at 21:49
Hi brit simon my relative won dv lottery2019 in iraq with a case number AS102xx .
The form been filled by his friend which he lives in USA ,Newyork and he made a mistake by putting his address in the form instead putting my relative adress in the form. NOW my relative filled DS260 form by him self and corrected that mistake . My questions are :
1- that case number is safe ?
2- dont you think there is a risk due to that mistake. However my relative corrected that mistake in ds 260 form.
3- my relative is lawyer and her husband is a doctor should they take labor certificate to the interview . If there is no risk.
Thsnx mr. Brit for every thing. You are The best…..
July 5, 2018 at 22:18

2_ i told her husband to take
Birth, medical, police and marrige cetifications with you. What else he have to take ? He is a doctor .
3.about thier childrens . They only have to take birth, medical certification. Is that correct?
4. Does they need Affidavit of support ?
I told them to one AOS to the interview.
Thanks alot. Again and again
July 6, 2018 at 00:24
1. Only the principal selectee need to show education documents.
2. He needs to read the instructions.
3. Again – instructions.
4. Possibly.
July 5, 2018 at 22:26

July 6, 2018 at 00:54
hello brit,
My case number is eu260xx. in case my CN is current on august bulletin for September I am preparing my documents for AOS. I do not think it is logical to file EAD (I 765) since September is the last month that i could get possibly Green card.

Thanks
July 6, 2018 at 04:33
I think you can decide that.
July 6, 2018 at 09:02

July 6, 2018 at 14:09
I don’t know what payment page you are talking about.
July 6, 2018 at 14:45
When i want to book for the interview. I cant find the step where i choose the bank to make the payment in order for me to confirm the interview and the bank says without the deposit receipt i cant pay
July 6, 2018 at 14:48
You pay the fee at the interview.
July 6, 2018 at 15:07
But how to know when is the interview should i send an email to the embassy?
July 6, 2018 at 15:26
You would be notified of an interview date. You need to read the guide linked above and learn about how this process goes.
July 6, 2018 at 07:38
Hello Simon
I am dv2019 winner, from one of the affected travel ban country, i have dual citizenship so if i apply in ds260 to my second citizenship, how will be my chance of winning the interview.
Thanks.
July 6, 2018 at 14:11
Fine – just be sure to read the instructions and be 100% honest.

Hi Simon
My wife is green card winner 2019
After getting our visa I am planing to go to Usa alone not with family
After couple of months my family will come it is possible?
I have heard that green card winner has go to Usa first
July 6, 2018 at 14:17
Yes – the derivative cannot go before the winner.
July 6, 2018 at 11:19
Dear Brit,
I am a 2018-DV selectee from Iran. All my family (father, mother and 2 sisters) are American citizens. I was interviewed in May 2018 at U.S. embassy in Yerevan, Armenia. Unfortunately, my case is shown “refused” on CEAC.
At interview, the officer told me that you are eligible to receive waiver since your family are U.S. citizens and living in The States. “I am not the one who decides, your case should be decided in Washington” he added.
I had an update 28 days after interview date.
Your advice is requested in this regard.
Regards,
Vaheed
July 6, 2018 at 14:19
Having family is not a reason to qualify for a waiver. The CO obviously tried, but the waiver was not granted (it was never likely to be granted). You cannot overcome the refusal.
July 6, 2018 at 11:36
Hello Simon ,
I willhave an interview on late Augest BUT my name of the DS application and Interview paper is different from my pasport name as when I applied for lottery I hav no consideration for who is my last name ( my family name or grandfather bame ) as there is no such concern in ARAB country …. thereafter my passport name show my last name my family name while DS ; interview shown my garndfather name … also when I did apply for birth certificate and marriage deed show that my last name is not same as the DS name( but full name present in there documents ) …. how can I fixed that and is there any concern ?
July 6, 2018 at 14:34
I don’t understand half of that, but yes it sounds like a concern. The DS260 should have matched the legal name on the passport.
July 6, 2018 at 13:28
Hi Simon
My wife is winner 2019
Just to know that if can go to Usa alone after getting my visa then I will bring my wife and kid
I have heard that without your wife you can not go to Usa first
What do you think?
July 6, 2018 at 13:31
Hi Brit,
I have a problem about my sponsor. He went to USA one year ago and started his job last January at an airport. Can he give a sponsor for me? Any time period required?(more than three years in USA) . Please help me.
Thank you
July 6, 2018 at 14:36
Get another sponsor.
July 6, 2018 at 13:38
somenoe in egypt single
his interview was in 24/6/2018 and the consul ask him what will you do in america
he replied that he will work with his friend in hot dog
so the consul refuse his visa
and the refuse because the lack of plan
so why he refuse because of this reason and his document is right??
July 6, 2018 at 14:37
Public charge grounds. That is a valid reason for refusal.
July 6, 2018 at 14:59
can you explain this reason or what is the meaning of this
and he tell the consul that he will work so why he refused
July 6, 2018 at 15:25
The CO presumably decided the selectee would be a public charge concern and that the selectee did not have a good plan or skills to support himself. You can read about that more here:
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
